Group 13 cations exhibit an essentially similar chemical behavior in aqueous solution. Under physiological conditions these cations exist as metal complexes. They are known to bind tightly to human serum transferrin in the blood. Here, the numerous published studies on the interactions of Group 13 metals with transferrin are reviewed, particular attention being given to the comparative analysis of the binding constants and to the kinetics and mechanisms of metal ion uptake and release. The structural and functional information obtained on these metallotransferrins by advanced physicochemical methods, such as NMR spectroscopy, is presented in light of the recent crystal structures of ferric- and apotransferrin. The biological consequences of binding of aluminum(III), gallium(III) and indium(III) to transferrin are discussed in relation to the relevant roles played by these metal ions in pharmacology and toxicology.  相似文献

4-Hydroxyacridine (HAcr) is an O,N-chelating ligand whose coordination chemistry toward group 13 M(III) ions has received little attention. The molecular structure of HAcr consists of a 2,3-disubstituted-8-hydroxyquinoline; thus, in order to compare 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ), 2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline (HMeQ′), and 2,3-disubstituted-8-hydroxyquinoline (HAcr) for steric and/or electronic influence, HAcr chelating ability toward the Al(III), Ga(III), and In(III) triad has been investigated. Irrespective of the nature of M(III), only complexes containing two equivalents of deprotonated HAcr are obtained. This article describes the synthesis and characterization of different series of bis-chelated pentacoordinated (Acr)2MY (M = Al, Ga, In; Y = Cl, Br, I, NCS, N3) or (Acr)2MZ (M = Ga or In; HZ = C6H5OH, C6H13OC6H4OH, C6H5COOH, or C6H13OC6H4COOH) six-coordinate neutral (Acr)2In(acac) (H(acac) =acetylacetone), or ionic [(Acr)2In(N,N)][CF3SO3] (N,N = 2,2′-bipyridine or 1,10-phenanthroline) complexes. These results significantly contribute to elucidating the complexation capability of HAcr.  相似文献

Single crystals of the aluminium and gallium complexes of 6,6′‐{(1E,1′E)‐[1,2‐phenylenebis(azanylylidene)]bis(methanylylidene)}bis(2‐methoxyphenol), namely diaqua(6,6′‐{(1E,1′E)‐[1,2‐phenylenebis(azanylylidene)]bis(methanylylidene)}bis(2‐methoxyphenolato)‐κ4O1,N,N′,O1′)aluminium(III) nitrate ethanol monosolvate, [Al(C22H18N2O4)(H2O)2]NO3·C2H5OH, 1 , and diaqua(6,6′‐{(1E,1′E)‐[1,2‐phenylenebis(azanylylidene)]bis(methanylylidene)}bis(2‐methoxyphenolato)‐κ4O1,N,N′,O1′)gallium(III) nitrate ethanol monosolvate, [Ga(C22H18N2O4)(H2O)2]NO3·C2H5OH, 2 , were obtained after successful synthesis in ethanol. Both complexes crystallized in the triclinic space group P, with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. In both structures, in one of the independent molecules the tetradentate ligand is almost planar while in the other independent molecule the ligand shows significant distortions from planarity, as illustrated by the largest distance from the plane constructed through the central metal atom and the O,N,N′,O′‐coordinating atoms of the ligand in 1 of 1.155 (3) Å and a distance of 1.1707 (3) Å in 2 . The possible reason for this is that there are various strong π‐interactions in the structures. This was confirmed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, as were the other crystallographic data. DFT was also used to predict the outcome of cyclic voltammetry experiments. Ligand oxidation is more stabilized in the gallium complex. Solid‐state photoluminescence gave an 80 nm red‐shifted spectrum for the gallium complex, whereas the aluminium complex maintains the ligand curve with a smaller red shift of 40 nm.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectroscopy in combination with circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy were used to investigate the interaction of water-soluble amino acid Schiff base complexes, [Zn(L1,2)(phen)] where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and H2L1,2 is amino acid Schiff base ligands, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) under the physiological conditions in phosphate buffer solution adjusted to pH 7.0. The quenching mechanism of fluorescence was suggested as static quenching according to the Stern-Volmer equation. Quenching constants were determined using the Stern-Volmer equation to provide a measure of the binding affinity between amino acid Schiff base complexes and BSA. The thermodynamic parameters DeltaG, DeltaH and DeltaS at different temperatures (298, 310 and 318K) were calculated. The results indicate that the hydrophobic and hydrogen bonding interactions play a major role in [Zn(L1)(phen)]-BSA association, whereas hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions participate a main role in [Zn(L2)(phen)]-BSA binding process. Binding studies concerning the number of binding sites and apparent binding constant Kb were performed by fluorescence quenching method. The distance R between the donor (BSA) and acceptor (amino acid Schiff base complexes) has been obtained utilizing fluorescence resonant energy transfer (FRET). Furthermore, CD spectra were used to investigate the structural changes of the BSA molecule with the addition of amino acid Schiff base complexes. The results indicate that the interaction of amino acid Schiff base complexes with BSA leads to changes in the secondary structure of the protein. Fractional contents of the secondary structure of BSA (f(alpha), f(beta), f(turn) and f(random)) were calculated with and without amino acid Schiff base complexes utilizing circular dichroism spectroscopy. Our results clarified that amino acid Schiff base complexes could bind to BSA and be effectively transported and eliminated in the body, which could be a useful guideline for further drug design.  相似文献

Two mononuclear complexes with the Schiff base ligand 2-((2-(dimethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)phenol (HL), namely ZnL2 and CoL2(N3), have been synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy (IR, 1H NMR, UV–Vis, MS and EA). Both complexes are mononuclear. The coordination geometry in the Zn(II) complex is distorted square-pyramidal with a weak Zn···N interaction. The Co(III) complex is distorted octahedral, and the neutral molecule unit [CoIIIL2(N3)] is connected by C–H···N hydrogen bonds to form a one-dimensional infinite chain. The luminescence of the zinc compound has been investigated. In the present study, two water-soluble lanthanum(III) hexaaza Schiff base complexes were synthesized and characterized and also theoretically investigated. The interactions of these complexes with DNA and bovine serum albumin (BSA) were studied using different spectroscopic assessments and docking simulation analysis. The DNA docking studies suggested that these two complexes are able to interact with DNA through the minor groove, and also the binding affinity is in the order of La(L1) > La(L2). Furthermore, the spectral titration was carried out and viscosity measurements were taken. In this regard, protein-binding studies revealed that these complexes quench the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA, and indicated that the possible binding site is located on the vicinity of Trp 213, which is further validated by docking simulation analysis. The in vitro anticancer activities of these complexes indicated that the La(L1) complex is more effective than the other one and also exhibits a better interaction with DNA.  相似文献

A new series of mercaptopyrimidine Ru(III) complexes were synthesized and characterized using various spectral techniques like single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared and NMR spectroscopies, thermogravimetric analysis and energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis. The complexes were evaluated for their pharmacological activities like in vitro antimicrobial, anticancer, antituberculosis and antioxidant activities. The DNA binding of the complexes was investigated by absorption and emission spectral measurements which indicated that the complexes bind to DNA via intercalation, with molecular docking studies validating the results. DNA cleavage studies of the complexes were carried out.  相似文献

A Schiff base (HL) has been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical, spectroscopic and X-ray crystallography studies. Three of its Ru(III) complexes were synthesized and characterized by analytical and spectroscopic studies. The DNA binding properties of HL and its Ru(III) complexes have been investigated by electronic absorption spectroscopy. Also, HL and its Ru(III) complex [RuCl2(AsPh3)L] were tested for DNA cleavage properties. The results showed that the complex cleaves DNA more rapidly than the free ligand. Further, an in vitro study of the cytotoxicity of HL and the complex [RuCl2(AsPh3)L] was carried out.  相似文献

Indium(III) chloride tetrahydrate and Schiff-base ligands derived from adamantaneamine and 3-/4-methoxysalicylaldehyde gave two complexes, C22H32Cl3InN2O3 (1) and C36H44Cl3InN2O4 (2), respectively. The complexes were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, P21/n space group with the asymmetric unit consisting of one indium(III), one N-(3-methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L1), three chlorides and one N,N-dimethylformamide molecule. The indium is six-coordinate with reversed triangular-prism geometry via three oxygens and three chlorides. Complex 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, P 1 space group; the asymmetric unit consists of one indium(III), two N-(4methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L2), and three chlorides. The indium is five-coordinate with distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry via two oxygens and three chlorides. Antibacterial activities of the complexes have been investigated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

Several mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Fe(II) complexes of tetradentate salpren-type diimine, obtained from 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV–VIS) techniques, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TG). The thermodynamic and thermal properties of complexes have been investigated. For further characterization Direct Insertion Probe-Mass Spectrometry (DIP-MS) was used and the fragmentation pattern and also stability of the ions were evaluated. The characterization of the end products of the decomposition was achieved by X-ray diffraction. The thermal stabilities of metal complexes of N,N′-bis(3,5-di-t-butylsalicylidene)-1,3-propanediamine ligand (L) were found as Ni(II) > Cu(II) > Co(II) > Fe(II).  相似文献

Some new water-soluble Schiff-base complexes Na2[M(5-SO3-2,3-salpyr)(H2O) n ]?·?2H2O (5-SO3-2,3-salpyr?=?N,N′-bis(5-sulphosalicyliden)-2,3-diaminopyridine and M?=?Zn, Cu, Ni) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, magnetic susceptibility measurement, thermal analysis, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The mechanism of binding of Na2[M(5-SO3-2,3-salpyr)(H2O) n ]?·?2H2O with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. The fluorescence titration revealed that the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA was quenched by Na2[M(5-SO3-2,3-salpyr)], which was rationalized in terms of the static quenching mechanism. The values of the Stern–Volmer constants, quenching rate constants, binding constants, binding sites, and average aggregation number of BSA were determined by this method. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated by the van’t Hoff equation. The data clearly indicate that the binding is entropy driven and enthalpically disfavored. Based on the Förster theory of non-radiative energy transfer, the efficiency of energy transfer, and the distance between the donor (Trp residues) and the acceptor (Na2[M(5-SO3-2,3-salpyr)]) were evaluated. Also the synchronous fluorescence spectra showed that the microenvironment of the tryptophan residues was not changed. Finally, our results indicate that the complexes can bind to BSA and be efficiently transported in the body, which could be helpful for further drug design.  相似文献

Eight chromium(III) complexes of tetradentate Schiff bases have been prepared in situ by condensing of a substituted salicylaldehyde compound with ethylenediamine. These were characterized by elemental analysis, m.p., IR, molar conductivity, magnetic moment measurements, and electronic spectra. The free ligands were also characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectra. The 13C NMR spectra are discussed in terms of possible substituent effects. The IR and electronic spectra of the free ligand and the complexes are compared and discussed. The electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectra of four free ligands and their complexes were measured. The deconvolution of the visible spectra of the complexes, C2v symmetry, in DMSO yields three peaks at ca. 15 600–17 600, 18 400–20 400 and 20 000–23 100, and are assigned to the three d–d transitions, 4B1g → 4Eg(4T2g); 4B1g → 4B2g(4T2g); 4B1g → 4Eg(4T1g), respectively. The complexes showed magnetic moment in the range of 3.5–4.2 BM which corresponds to three unpaired electrons.  相似文献

The production of new biocidal polyester Schiff base metal complexes [PESB–M(II)] via polycondensation reaction between chelated Schiff base diol and adipoyl chloride is reported. The resulting polyesters were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The analytical data of all the synthesized polyesters were found to be in good agreement with 1:1 molar ratio of chelated Schiff base diol to adipoyl chloride. Thermogravimetric analyses of synthesized polyesters were studied by TG in nitrogen atmosphere up to 1073 K and results indicate that Cu(II) polyester complex exhibited better heat resistant properties than the other polyesters complexes. Magnetic moment and UV–visible spectra were examined to explain the structure of all the polyesters which reveled that Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) have octahedral geometry while Cu(II) possess a distorted octahedral geometry. These newly developed polyesters were also tested for their antibacterial activity against several bacteria and fungi. Among all the tested compounds PESB–Cu(II) possess the highest bactericidal and fungicidal activity.  相似文献

Transition metal complexes of type M(L)2(H2O)x were synthesized, where L is deprotonated Schiff base 2,4‐dihalo‐6‐(substituted thiazol‐2‐ylimino)methylphenol derived from the condensation of aminothiazole or its derivatives with 2‐hydroxy‐3‐halobenzaldehyde and M = Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ (x = 0 for Cu2+ and Zn2+; x = 2 for Co2+ and Ni2+). The synthesized Schiff bases and their metal complexes were thoroughly characterized using infrared, 1H NMR, electronic and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies, elemental analysis, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The results reveal that the bidentate ligands form complexes having octahedral geometry around Co2+ and Ni2+ metal ions while the geometry around Cu2+ and Zn2+ metal ions is four‐coordinated. The geometries of newly synthesized Schiff bases and their metal complexes were fully optimized in Gaussian 09 using 6–31 + g(d,p) basis set. Fluorescence quenching data reveal that Zn(II) and Cu(II) complexes bind more strongly to bovine serum albumin in comparison to Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes. The ligands and their complexes were evaluated for in vitro antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 (Gram negative) and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 (Gram positive) and cytotoxicity against lever hepatocellular cell line HepG2.  相似文献

Ga(III), In(III) and Tl(III) ions in the presence of different sulfate salts have been successfully separated using 1-(3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde)-2-acetylpyridiniumchloride hydrazone (DAPCH) loaded on Duolite C20 in batch and column modes. The obtained modified resin as well as the metal complexes was characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectra. The extraction isotherms were determined at different pH values. Ga(III) and In(III) are sorbed from aqueous solution at pH 2.5 - 3.0 while Tl(III) is sorbed at 2.0. The stripping of the adsorbed ions can be carried out using different concentrations of HCl as eluent. The saturation sorption capacities of Ga(III), In(III) and Tl(III) were 0.82, 0.96 and 0.44 mmol g(-1), where the preconcentration factors are 150, 150 and 100, respectively. The metal(III):Duolite C20-DAPCH ratio was 1:2 for Tl(III) and 1:1 for In(III) and Ga(III). The loaded resin can be regenerated for at least 50 cycles. The utility of the modified resin was tested in aqueous samples and the results show an RSD value of < 5% reflecting their accuracy and reproducibility.  相似文献

A new Schiff base ligand named (E)‐2‐(((3‐aminophenyl)imino)methyl)phenol (HL) was prepared through condensation reaction of m‐phenylenediamine and 2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde in 1:1 molar ratio. The new ligand was characterized by elemental analysis and spectral techniques. The coordination behavior of a series of transition metal ions named Cr (III), Mn (II), Fe (III), Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), Zn (II) and Cd (II) with the newly prepared Schiff base ligand (HL) is reported. The nature of bonding and the stereochemistry of the complexes have been deduced from elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, mass, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements and further their thermal stability was confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis (TG). From IR spectra, it was observed that the ligand is a neutral tridentate ligand coordinates to the metal ions through protonated phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and nitrogen atom of NH2 group. The existence, the number and the position of the water molecules was studied by thermal analysis. The molecular structures of the Schiff base ligand (HL) and its metal complexes were optimized theoretically and the quantum chemical parameters were calculated. The synthesized ligand and its complexes were screened for antimicrobial activities against bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillis subtilis, (gram positive bacteria)), (Salmonella SP., Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, (gram negative bacteria)) and fungi (Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida albicans). The complexes were found to possess high biological activities against different organisms. Molecular docking was used to predict the efficiency of binding between Schiff base ligand (HL) and both receptors of Escherichia coli (3 T88) and Staphylococcus aureus (3Q8U). The receptor of Escherichia coli (3 T88) showed best interaction with Schiff base ligand (HL) compared to receptor of Staphylococcus aureu (3Q8U).  相似文献

We presented the synthesis of a new Schiff base and its complexes properties with some transition metal ions in this study. (1-amino-2-thioxo-4-p-tolyl-1,2-dihydropyrimidin-5-yl)(p-tolyl)methanone was synthesized as the starting material, and (1-((2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl)methyleneamino)-2-thioxo-4-p-tolyl-1,2-dihydropyrimidin-5-yl)(p-tolyl)methanone (Hnafmmp) (1) and its Ni(II) (2), Pd(II) (3), Pt(II) (4), Cu(II) (5), Co(II) (6) complexes were prepared using above-mentioned starting material. The structures of these new compounds (ligand and its complexes) were characterized with UV–Vis, FTIR, LC–MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity measurement, X-ray powder diffraction method, and thermal analyses techniques. The 1H NMR chemical shifts of all complexes were calculated by using the gauge-invariant atomic orbital HF (3.21G) method in DMSO phases. All measured results were compared with the experimental data. The ligand and its complexes were also evaluated as antimicrobial agents against representative strains bacteria. Furthermore, we studied the catalytic activity of these compounds in Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction in aqueous media.  相似文献
