Based on exact Green strain of spatial curved beam, the nonlinear strain-displacement relation for plane curved beam with varying curvature is derived. Instead of using the previous straight beam elements, curved beam elements are used to approximate the curved beam with varying curvature. Based on virtual work principle, rigid-flexible coupling dynamic equations are obtained. Physical experiments were carried out to capture the large overall motion and the strain of curved beam to verify the present rigid-flexible coupling formulation for curved beam based on curved beam element. Numerical results obtained from simulations were compared with those results from the physical experiments. In order to illustrate the effectiveness of the curved beam element methodology, the simulation results of present curved beam elements are compared with those obtained by previous straight beam elements. The dynamic behavior of a slider-crank mechanism with an initially curved elastic connecting rod is investigated. The advantage of employing generalized-α method is pointed out and the special nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the curved beam are concluded.  相似文献

This paper describes the measurement of average strain, strain distribution and vibration of a cantilever beam made of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP), using a single Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor mounted on the beam surface. Average strain is determined from the displacement of the peak wavelength of reflected spectrum from the FBG sensor. Two unstrained reference FBG sensors were used to compensate for temperature drift. Measured strains agree with those measured by a resistance foil strain gauge attached to the sample. Stress distributions are measured by monitoring the variation in the full width at half maximum (FWHM) values of the reflected spectrum, using a proposed optical analytical model, described in the paper. FWHM values were measured for both the cantilever test beam and for a reference beam, loaded using a four-point bending rig. The trend of the stress distribution for the test beam matches with our analytical model, however with a relatively large noise present in the experimentally determined data. The vibration of a cantilever beam was measured by temporal analysis of the peak reflection wavelength. This technique is very stable as measurements are not affected by variations in the signal amplitude. Finally an application of FBG sensors for damage detection of CFRP plates, by measuring the natural frequency, is demonstrated. With small defects of different sizes applied to the CFRP plate, the natural frequency decreased with damage size.  相似文献

For the purpose of structural health monitoring, a damage detection method combined with optimum sensor placement is proposed in this paper. The back sequential sensor placement(BSSP) algorithm is introduced to optimize the sensor locations with the aim of maximizing the 2-norm of information matrix, since the EI method is not suitable for optimum sensor placement based on eigenvector sensitivity analysis. Structural damage detection is carried out based on the respective advantages of mode shape and frequency. The optimized incomplete mode shapes yielded from the optimal sensor locations are used to localize structural damage. After the potential damage elements have been preliminarily identified, an iteration scheme is adopted to estimate the damage extent of the potential damage elements based on the changes in the frequency. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated using a numerical example of a 31-bar truss structure.  相似文献

This paper describes the use of two multiplexed in-line fiber etalon (ILFE) sensors for air frame repair patch monitoring. The ILFE sensors are multiplexed using a combination of coherence division and frequency division multiplexing. Cantilever beam tests are used to verify the ILFE strain sensor performance and to measure multiplexing cross talk. The multiplexed ILFE sensors are then used to monitor the load transfer in a boron/epoxy patch utilized to repair cracks that occur in aging aircraft. The experiments show a clear relationship between a normalized measure of the strain inside the repair patch and crack extension in an aluminum single-edge notch specimen.  相似文献

A non-linear finite element formulation (three dimensional continuum elements) is implemented and used for modeling dynamic snap-through in beams with initial curvature. We identify a non-trivial (non-flat) configuration of the beam at a critical temperature value below which the beam will no longer experience snap-through under any magnitude of applied quasi-static load for beams with various curvatures. The critical temperature is shown to successfully eliminate snap-through in dynamic simulations at quasistatic loading rates. Thermomechanical coupling is included in order to model a physically minimal amount of damping in the system, and the resulting post-snap vibrations are shown to be thermoelastically damped. We propose a test to determine the critical snap-free temperature for members of general geometry and loading pattern; the analogy between mechanical prestress and thermal strain that holds between the static and dynamic simulations is used to suggest a simple method for reducing the vulnerability of thin-walled structural members to dynamic snap-through in members of large initial curvature via the introduction of initial pretension.  相似文献

与传统有限元法相比,无网格法具有节点形函数高度光滑、易于形成高阶近似等优势,更适合于以薄板弯曲问题为代表的高阶偏微分方程的数值求解。然而,高阶无网格法的形函数是非多项式的有理函数,导致弱形式的区域积分难以得到精确计算,通常采用的高阶高斯积分方法需使用大量积分点,计算效率低且精度不高。本文针对薄板弯曲问题的高阶(三阶)无网格法分析,首次发展了与该高阶近似相一致的曲率光顺方案,并基于背景三角形积分单元建立了相应的数值积分格式,大幅度减少了所需的积分点数目。所发展方法的关键在于计算刚度阵所需的形函数的二阶导数由形函数及其一阶导数通过散度定理确定,而非对形函数直接求导获得。数值结果表明,基于标准的高斯积分方案的高阶无网格法精度不高,不能精确再现纯弯曲和线性弯曲模式,且得到的弯矩场分布存在严重的虚假数值振荡。而本文所建议的基于曲率光顺方案的高阶无网格法能够方便高效地求解薄板弯曲问题,尤其是它能精确反映纯弯曲和线性弯曲模式。与标准的高斯积分方法和目前主流的常曲率光顺方法相比,本文方法在计算效率、精度、弯矩分布等方面均展现出显著优势,因而具有较好的应用价值。  相似文献

Experimental results are presented of the power spectral density of the random bending strain on the surface of a beam obtained using a scanning laser vibrometer. The strain spectra were obtained by processing vibration data measured at discrete locations along the beam's length. The beam was driven by a stationary broad-band random force. The experimental setup is described along with the data analysis procedure. The results presented here indicate that the method is practical and can lead to reliable estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a method to estimate the bridge deflection using fiber optic Bragg-grating (FBG) strain sensors. For most structural evaluation of bridge integrity, it is very important to measure the geometric profile, which is a major factor representing the global behavior of civil structures, especially bridges. In the past, because of the lack of appropriate methods to measure the deflection curve of bridges on site, the measurement of deflection has been restricted to just a few discrete points along the bridge, and the measuring points have been limited to the locations installed with displacement transducers. However, by applying classical beam theory, a formula is rearranged to estimate the continuously deflected profile by using strains measured directly from several points. In addition, FBG strain sensors, which are electromagnetic, noise-free and multipoint measurable, are employed to obtain flexural strains more accurately and stably. The regression analysis is performed to obtain a strain function from the measured strain data. Finally, the deflection curve can be estimated by applying the strain function to the formula. An experimental test has also been carried out to verify the developed method.  相似文献

This paper describes the use of the first and second optical return paths in a moderate-to-high finesse Fabry-Perot sensor to measure the absolute phase in extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometry (EFPI) sensors. A path-matched differential interferometry (PMDI) using a highfinesse EFPI sensors, a low-finesse Fabry-Perot readout interferometer and a broadband light source consisting of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is used to illustrate the idea. The first and second multiple paths in the Fabry-Perot readout sensor are used to provide two distinct path-match conditions from the same scanning Fabry-Perot readout interferometer. The difference in fringe numbers between the centers of two orders of interference fringe packets formed by the distinct path-match conditions makes possible a simple method of measuring the cavity length of EFPI sensors, which in turn can be used to measure absolute phase and the corresponding strain. Sensor cavity length measurement using the multiple return paths in the high-finesse Fabry-Perot sensor is correlated to that measurement using the modulation transfer function found using an optical spectrum analyzer; the multiple return path technique is then used to make strain measurements on a cantilever beam. Comparisons with resistance strain gage measurements are favorable. Characterization tests indicate that the proposed technique has a cavity length measurement resolution on the order of 1.1 μm, which translates to a strain resolution of 28 με for a 4-cm gage length sensor.  相似文献

Shape sensing of 3D frame structures using an inverse Finite Element Method   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A robust and efficient computational method for reconstructing the elastodynamic structural response of truss, beam, and frame structures, using measured surface-strain data, is presented. Known as “shape sensing”, this inverse problem has important implications for real-time actuation and control of smart structures, and for monitoring of structural integrity. The present formulation, based on the inverse Finite Element Method (iFEM), uses a least-squares variational principle involving section strains (also known as strain measures) of Timoshenko theory for stretching, torsion, bending, and transverse shear. The present iFEM methodology is based on strain–displacement relations only, without invoking force equilibrium. Consequently, both static and time-varying displacement fields can be reconstructed without the knowledge of material properties, applied loading, or damping characteristics. Two finite elements capable of modeling frame structures are derived using interdependent interpolations, in which interior degrees of freedom are condensed out at the element level. In addition, relationships between the order of kinematic-element interpolations and the number of required strain gauges are established. Several example problems involving cantilevered beams and three-dimensional frame structures undergoing static and dynamic response are discussed. To simulate experimentally measured strains and to establish reference displacements, high-fidelity MSC/NASTRAN finite element analyses are performed. Furthermore, numerically simulated measurement errors, based on Gaussian distribution, are also considered in order to verify the stability and robustness of the methodology. The iFEM solution accuracy is examined with respect to various levels of discretization and the number of strain gauges.  相似文献

索粱结构在土木工程、航空航天等领域有着广泛的应用.在各类索梁动力学建模方法中,由于绝对节点坐标方法(absolute nodal coordinate formulation,ANCF)能够描述柔性体的大变形和大转动问题,因此非常适合大变形索梁结构的动力学建模.对绝对节点坐标索梁单元的应变进行分析可知,弯曲变形会引起单元内部轴向应变的不均匀分布,即单元轴向应变与弯曲应变相互耦合.这种应变耦合效应使单元产生伪应变能,导致单元刚度增大,造成单元失真.分析不同弯曲角下的单元应变及应变能可知,弯曲变形越大,单元失真越严重.通过构造等效一维杆单元重新描述轴向应变,实现了轴向应变与弯曲应变解耦.在此基础上推导广义弹性力,得到了绝对节点坐标索梁单元的应变解耦模型.对解耦前后的两种梁模型进行静力学和动力学仿真,结果表明;解耦模型消除了单元伪应变,相比原模型表现出更好的收敛性和曲率连续性,在相同单元数目下具有更高的精度.同时由于解耦模型降低了单元刚度,因此相比原模型,速度曲线中不再有高频振动.  相似文献

覆冰黏附力是仿生超疏水材料防结冰工程应用的关键技术指标之一. 根据覆冰样片降温过程中产生应变受冰层黏附力作用的原理, 提出利用电阻应变片传感器于模拟冻雨结冰环境下在线检测覆冰黏附力的方案. 应变片应变信号经数据采集、信号转换和软件处理, 实现了应变传感电压实时监测与在线显示, 结合受力分析对比计算出不同润湿性表面覆冰黏附力. 该方法可实时表征低温结冰环境下不同润湿性表面的结/融冰行为及覆冰黏附力变化趋势.  相似文献

光纤光栅传感器具有体积小、质量轻、灵敏度高、耐腐蚀、抗电磁干扰、传输频带较宽、易于进行分布式测量等诸多其他传感器所不具备的优点,更适用于现场的长期健康监测。大体积混凝土在施工过程中的温度问题如处理不当将会引起混凝土开裂。利用温度计、热电耦等作为传感器的传统的检测手段已经大大的制约了数据的准确性与精度。寻求一种高精度温度检测手段已经成为用于现场结构监测的前提。本文结合具体的工程实例介绍了光纤光栅传感器在基础混凝土温度监测中的应用,介绍了监测系统的组成,传感器的构造和标定,并利用实测温度预测基础混凝土底板中温度应力,及时采取措施防止混凝土的开裂。  相似文献

A phenomenon of inequality of equilibrium and constitutive internal forces in a cross-section of elastic–plastic beams is common to many finite element formulations. It is here discussed in a rate-independent, elastic–plastic beam context, and a possible treatment is presented. The starting point of our discussion is Reissners finite-strain beam theory, and its finite element implementation. The questions of the consistency of interpolations for displacements and rotations, and the related locking phenomena are fully avoided by considering the rotation function of the centroid axis of a beam as the only unknown function of the problem. Approximate equilibrium equations are derived by the use of the distribution theory in conjunction with the collocation method. The novelty of our formulation is an inclusion of a balance function that measures the error between the equilibrium and constitutive bending moments in a cross-section. An advantage of the present approach is that the locations, where the balance of equilibrium and constitutive moments should be satisfied, can be prescribed in advance. In order to minimize the error, explicit analytical expressions are used for the constitutive forces; for a rectangular cross-section and bilinear constitutive law, they are given in Appendix A. The comparison between the results of the two finite element formulations, the one using consistent, and the other inconsistent equilibrium in a cross-section, is shown for a cantilever beam subjected to a point load. The problem of high curvature gradients in a plastified region is also discussed and solved by using an adapted collocation method, in which the coordinate system is transformed such to follow high gradients of curvature.  相似文献

This paper discusses modal filtering of experimental data and the corresponding identification of linear and nonlinear parameters in reduced order space. Specifically, several experimental configurations will be discussed in order to provide insight into such identification issues as spatial discretization, observability, and the linear independence of the assumed filter or basis. The two experiments considered herein represent different measurement configurations of the same clamped–clamped beam. First, asymmetric inertial loading via asymmetric sensor location was considered, while the second scenario presents a symmetric sensor configuration. Several important conclusions can be drawn from the two experimental scenarios. First, by asymmetrically loading the beam, a corresponding asymmetric beam mode was excited yet not observable. In the second scenario, the symmetric distribution of sensors minimized the impact of the respective asymmetric mode. The resulting spatial information allowed for the proper filtering of the remnants of the asymmetric mode. Nonlinear parameters in modal space as well as the underlying linear parameters were successfully identified simultaneously in both experimental scenarios, although the usefulness of the asymmetrically loaded beam was limited. Finally, successful comparisons were made between the identified reduced order model and experimental response at the beam quarter point using the symmetric case and the beam midpoint using both experimental scenarios.  相似文献

An investigation of the low velocity impact and quasi-static failure of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) based on global and local post-impact strain measurements was conducted. Local strains were obtained from surface mounted Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors, and they were combined with global measurements from quasi-static indentation and low-velocity impact experiments, and finite-element analyses to obtain detailed maps of how failure spatially initiates and evolves. For both loading regimes, the interactions between the host PMMA specimens and the sensors played a crucial role in the evolution of residual strains. A mapping of the strains clearly shows that strains decrease radially, from high values near the point of impact to far-field values. Sensors located in critical locations, which are near the impact region, had the highest residual strains prior to PMMA fracture. Furthermore, it was determined that strain transfer to the sensor is strongly influenced by the bonding conditions at the specimen’s surface. Due to the debonding of the sensor and the frictional effects associated with the bonding agent, compressive residual strains occurred on the rear-surface. Hence, a detailed understanding of how strain evolves due to sensor-host interactions and catastrophic fracture can be obtained, which can potentially be used to mitigate damage in PMMA for a range of strain-rates.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors study the potential of using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensors to measure the torsion deformation theoretically and experimentally. FBG sensors are bonded on the surface of a shaft. When the shaft is under torsion, there is strain induced in the FBG sensor and the Bragg wavelength will shift accordingly. According to the wavelength shift and photoelastic properties of the FBG sensor bonded to the shaft, the torsion deformation of the shaft can be obtained. To minimize the measurement error, the optimal direction of the FBG sensor is obtained. The influences of the orientation deviation of the FBG sensor are discussed. The feasibility of this method is demonstrated by experiment, and the test results agree well with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献
