Leavitt path algebras are Bézout

We study mapping class group orbits of homotopy and isotopy classes of curves with self-intersections. We exhibit the asymptotics of the number of such orbits of curves with a bounded number of self-intersections, as the complexity of the surface tends to infinity.We also consider the minimal genus of a subsurface that contains the curve. We determine the asymptotic number of orbits of curves with a fixed minimal genus and a bounded self-intersection number, as the complexity of the surface tends to infinity.As a corollary of our methods, we obtain that most curves that are homotopic are also isotopic. Furthermore, using a theorem by Basmajian, we get a bound on the number of mapping class group orbits on a given hyperbolic surface that can contain short curves. For a fixed length, this bound is polynomial in the signature of the surface.The arguments we use are based on counting embeddings of ribbon graphs.     

Prime étale groupoid algebras with applications to inverse semigroup and Leavitt path algebras

In this paper we give some sufficient and some necessary conditions for an étale groupoid algebra to be a prime ring. As an application we recover the known primeness results for inverse semigroup algebras and Leavitt path algebras. It turns out that primeness of the algebra is connected with the dynamical property of topological transitivity of the groupoid. We obtain analogous results for semiprimeness.     

Tilting modules over path algebras of Dynkin type and complete slice modules

Let T be a tilting A-module over a path algebra of Dynkin type.We prove thatif the indecomposable direct summands of T are in the different (?)-orbits of the AR-quiverof A,then T is a complete slice module.     

Normalizer of a group of “diagonal” automorphisms in algebras over a commutative ring

Let S be a faithful algebra over commutative ring R. It is assumed that S is additively generated by its invertible elements. It is shown that the nomalizer of subgroup Aut(S_s) of group Aut(S_R) coincides with the semidirect product Aut(S_S) Aut(S/R),where the second factor is the group of all ring automorphisms of ring S identical on R.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Instituta im. Cohen–Macaulay Auslander algebras of skewed-gentle algebras

For any skewed-gentle algebra, we characterize its indecomposable Gorenstein projective modules explicitly and describe its Cohen–Macaulay Auslander algebra. We prove that skewed-gentle algebras are always Gorenstein, which is independent of the characteristic of the ground field, and the Cohen–Macaulay Auslander algebras of skewed-gentle algebras are also skewed-gentle algebras.     

Blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and Khovanov-Lauda algebras

We construct an explicit isomorphism between blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and (sign-modified) cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda algebras in type A. These isomorphisms connect the categorification conjecture of Khovanov and Lauda to Ariki’s categorification theorem. The Khovanov-Lauda algebras are naturally graded, which allows us to exhibit a non-trivial ℤ-grading on blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, including symmetric groups in positive characteristic.     

Semigroup C⁎-algebras and amenability of semigroups

We construct reduced and full semigroup C^?-algebras for left cancellative semigroups. Our new construction covers particular cases already considered by A. Nica and also Toeplitz algebras attached to rings of integers in number fields due to J. Cuntz. Moreover, we show how (left) amenability of semigroups can be expressed in terms of these semigroup C^?-algebras in analogy to the group case.     

L-restricted φ-representations of algebras

In the present paper we give a common generalization of subdirect product, direct product and weak direct product of given algebras. Mathematics subject classification numbers, 1980/85 Primary 08A30; Secondary 061310.     

Comparison of topologies on ⁎-algebras of locally measurable operators

We consider the local measure topology ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ on the ?-algebra ${LS(\mathcal{M})}$ of all locally measurable operators and on the ?-algebra ${S(\mathcal{M},\tau)}$ of all τ-measurable operators affiliated with a von Neumann algebra ${\mathcal{M}}$ . If τ is a semifinite but not a finite trace on ${\mathcal{M},}$ then one can consider the τ-local measure topology t _τ l and the weak τ-local measure topology t _{w τ l} . We study relationships between the topology ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ and the topologies t _τ l , t _{w τ l} , and the (o)-topology ${t_o(\mathcal{M})}$ on ${LS_h(\mathcal{M})=\{T\in LS(\mathcal{M}): T^\ast=T\}}$ . We find that the topologies ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ and t _τ l (resp. ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ and t _{w τ l} ) coincide on ${S(\mathcal{M},\tau)}$ if and only if ${\mathcal{M}}$ is finite, and ${t(\mathcal{M})=t_o(\mathcal{M})}$ on ${LS_h(\mathcal{M})}$ holds if and only if ${\mathcal{M}}$ is a σ-finite and finite. Moreover, it turns out that the topology t _{τ l} (resp. t _{w τ l} ) coincides with the (o)-topology on ${S_h(\mathcal{M},\tau)}$ only for finite traces. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the topology ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ to be locally convex (resp., normable). We show that (o)-convergence of sequences in ${LS_h(\mathcal{M})}$ and convergence in the topology ${t(\mathcal{M})}$ coincide if and only if the algebra ${\mathcal{M}}$ is an atomic and finite algebra.     

On the Auslander–Reiten conjecture for Cohen–Macaulay rings and path algebras

In this note, it is shown that the validity of the Auslander–Reiten conjecture for a given d-dimensional Cohen–Macaulay local ring R depends on its validity for all direct summands of d-th syzygy of R-modules of finite length, provided R is an isolated singularity. Based on this result, it is shown that under a mild assumption on the base ring R, satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture behaves well under completion and reduction modulo regular elements. In addition, it will turn out that, if R is a commutative Noetherian ring and 𝒬 a finite acyclic quiver, then the Auslander–Reiten conjecture holds true for the path algebra R𝒬, whenever so does R. Using this result, examples of algebras satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture are presented.
