In this paper, we study the relation between conserved quantities of nonholonomic systems and the hamiltonization problem employing the geometric methods of Balseiro (Arch Ration Mech Anal 214:453–501, 2014) and Balseiro and Garcia-Naranjo (Arch Ration Mech Anal 205(1):267–310, 2012). We illustrate the theory with classical examples describing the dynamics of solids of revolution rolling without sliding on a plane. In these cases, using the existence of two conserved quantities we obtain, by means of gauge transformations and symmetry reduction, genuine Poisson brackets describing the reduced dynamics.  相似文献

In Alicandro et al. (J Mech Phys Solids 92:87–104, 2016) a simple discrete scheme for the motion of screw dislocations toward low energy configurations has been proposed. There, a formal limit of such a scheme, as the lattice spacing and the time step tend to zero, has been described. The limiting dynamics agrees with the maximal dissipation criterion introduced in Cermelli and Gurtin (Arch Ration Mech Anal 148, 1999) and predicts motion along the glide directions of the crystal. In this paper, we provide rigorous proofs of the results in [3], and in particular of the passage from the discrete to the continuous dynamics. The proofs are based on \(\Gamma \)-convergence techniques.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to show well-posedness results for Dirichlet problems for the Stokes and Navier–Stokes systems with \(L^{\infty }\)-variable coefficients in \(L^2\)-based Sobolev spaces in Lipschitz domains on compact Riemannian manifolds. First, we refer to the Dirichlet problem for the nonsmooth coefficient Stokes system on Lipschitz domains in compact Riemannian manifolds and show its well-posedness by employing a variational approach that reduces the boundary value problem of Dirichlet type to a variational problem defined in terms of two bilinear continuous forms, one of them satisfying a coercivity condition and another one the inf-sup condition. We show also the equivalence between some transmission problems for the nonsmooth coefficient Stokes system in complementary Lipschitz domains on compact Riemannian manifolds and their mixed variational counterparts, and then their well-posedness in \(L^2\)-based Sobolev spaces by using the remarkable Nec?as–Babus?ka–Brezzi technique (see Babus?ka in Numer Math 20:179–192, 1973; Brezzi in RAIRO Anal Numer R2:129–151, 1974; Nec?as in Rev Roum Math Pures Appl 9:47–69, 1964). As a consequence of these well-posedness results we define the layer potential operators for the nonsmooth coefficient Stokes system on Lipschitz surfaces in compact Riemannian manifolds, and provide their main mapping properties. These properties are used to construct explicitly the solution of the Dirichlet problem for the Stokes system. Further, we combine the well-posedness of the Dirichlet problem for the nonsmooth coefficient Stokes system with a fixed point theorem to show the existence of a weak solution to the Dirichlet problem for the nonsmooth variable coefficient Navier–Stokes system in \(L^2\)-based Sobolev spaces in Lipschitz domains on compact Riemannian manifolds. The well developed potential theory for the smooth coefficient Stokes system on compact Riemannian manifolds (cf. Dindos? and Mitrea in Arch Ration Mech Anal 174:1–47, 2004; Mitrea and Taylor in Math Ann 321:955–987, 2001) is also discussed in the context of the potential theory developed in this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the cauchy problem for the 2D Groma–Balogh model (Acta Mater 47:3647–3654, 1999). From the works Cannone et al. (Arch Ration Mech Anal 196:71–96, 2010) and El Hajj (Ann Inst Henri Poincaré Anal Nonlinéaire 27:21–35, 2010), one can see global well-posedness for this model is an open question. However, we can prove longtime well-posedness. In particular, we show that this model admits a unique solution with the lifespan \(T^\star \) satisfying \(T^\star \log ^2(1+T^\star )\gtrsim \epsilon ^{-2}\) if the initial data is of size \(\epsilon \). To achieve this, we first establish some new decay estimates concerning the operator \(e^{-{\mathcal {R}}_{12}^2t}\). Then, we prove the longtime well-posedness by utilizing the weak dissipation to deal with the nonlinear terms.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with optimal decay rates for higher-order spatial derivatives of classical solutions to the full compressible MHD equations in three-dimensional whole space. If the initial perturbation is small in \({H^3}\)-norm and bounded in \({L^q(q\in \left[1, \frac{6}{5} \right))}\)-norm, we apply the Fourier splitting method by Schonbek (Arch Ration Mech Anal 88:209–222, 1985) to establish optimal decay rates for the second-order spatial derivatives of solutions and the third-order spatial derivatives of magnetic field in \({L^2}\)-norm. These results improve the work of Pu and Guo (Z Angew Math Phys 64:519–538, 2013).  相似文献

We prove local Hölder continuity results for \(\omega \)-minimizers of a class of functionals with non-standard growth, characterized by the fact of having a double type of degeneracy, and thereby extending to \(\omega \)-minimizers the results obtained in Colombo and Mingione (Arch Ration Mech Anal 215(2):443–496, 2015) for ordinary minimizers. As a side benefit of the proof, we also consider a class of functionals with Orlicz-growth and prove regularity for \(\omega \)-minimizers.  相似文献

The pioneering works of Murat and Tartar (Topics in the mathematical modeling of composite materials. PNLDE 31. Birkhäuser, Basel, 1997) go a long way in showing, in general, that problems of optimal design may not admit solutions if microstructural designs are excluded from consideration. Therefore, assuming, tactilely, that the problem of minimizing the first eigenvalue of a two-phase conducting material with the conducting phases to be distributed in a fixed proportion in a given domain has no true solution in general domains, Cox and Lipton only study conditions for an optimal microstructural design (Cox and Lipton in Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 136:101–117, 1996). Although, the problem in one dimension has a solution (cf. Kre?n in AMS Transl. Ser. 2(1):163–187, 1955) and, in higher dimensions, the problem set in a ball can be deduced to have a radially symmetric solution (cf. Alvino et al. in Nonlinear Anal. TMA 13(2):185–220, 1989), these existence results have been regarded so far as being exceptional owing to complete symmetry. It is still not clear why the same problem in domains with partial symmetry should fail to have a solution which does not develop microstructure and respecting the symmetry of the domain. We hope to revive interest in this question by giving a new proof of the result in a ball using a simpler symmetrization result from Alvino and Trombetti (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 94:328–337, 1983).  相似文献

We present a local convergence analysis of a two-point four parameter Jarratt-like method of high convergence order in order to approximate a locally unique solution of a nonlinear equation. We prove a sharp pinching estimate for immersed mean convex solutions of mean curvature flow which unifies and improves all previously known pinching estimates, including the umbilic estimate of Huisken (J Differ Geom 20(1):237–266, 1984), the convexity estimates of Huisken–Sinestrari (Acta Math 183(1):45–70, 1999) and the cylindrical estimate of Huisken–Sinestrari (Invent Math 175(1):137–221, 2009; see also Andrews and Langford in Anal PDE 7(5):1091–1107, 2014; Huisken and Sinestrari in J Differ Geom 101(2):267–287, 2015). Namely, we show that the curvature of the solution pinches onto the convex cone generated by the curvatures of any shrinking cylinder solutions admitted by the initial data. For example, if the initial data is \((m+1)\)-convex, then the curvature of the solution pinches onto the convex hull of the curvatures of the shrinking cylinders \(\mathbb {R}^m\times S^{n-m}_{\sqrt{2(n-m)(1-t)}}\), \(t<1\). In particular, this yields a sharp estimate for the largest principal curvature, which we use to obtain a new proof of a sharp estimate for the inscribed curvature for embedded solutions (Brendle in Invent Math 202(1):217–237, 2015; Haslhofer and Kleiner in Int Math Res Not 15:6558–6561, 2015; Langford in Proc Am Math Soc 143(12):5395–5398, 2015). Making use of a recent idea of Huisken–Sinestrari (2015), we then obtain a series of sharp estimates for ancient solutions. In particular, we obtain a convexity estimate for ancient solutions which allows us to strengthen recent characterizations of the shrinking sphere due to Huisken–Sinestrari (2015) and Haslhofer–Hershkovits (Commun Anal Geom 24(3):593–604, 2016).  相似文献

We establish a new theorem of existence (and uniqueness) of solutions to the Navier-Stokes initial boundary value problem in exterior domains. No requirement is made on the convergence at infinity of the kinetic field and of the pressure field. These solutions are called non-decaying solutions. The first results on this topic dates back about 40 years ago see the references (Galdi and Rionero in Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980; Knightly in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 3:506–511, 1972). In the articles Galdi and Rionero (Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980) it was introduced the so called weight function method to study the uniqueness of solutions. More recently, the problem has been considered again by several authors (see Galdi et al. in J. Math. Fluid Mech. 14:633–652, 2012, Quad. The goal of this paper is to point out that the results obtained in the recent papers (Chen and Song in Nonlinear Anal 72:1895–1901, 2010; Chu in J Math Anal Appl 327:1041–1045, 2007; Chu et al. in Nonlinear Anal 59:1001–1011, 2004a, J. Math Anal Appl 289:666–672, 2004b) can be seriously strengthened in the sense that we can significantly relax the assumptions of the main results so that we still get the same conclusions. In order to do this first, we prove that for \(n \ge 3\) any transformation which preserves the n-norm of any n vectors is automatically plus-minus linear. This will give a re-proof of the well-known Mazur–Ulam-type result that every n-isometry is automatically affine (\(n \ge 2\)) which was proven in several papers, e.g. in Chu et al. (Nonlinear Anal 70:1068–1074, 2009). Second, following the work of Rassias and ?emrl (Proc Am Math Soc 118:919–925, 1993), we provide the solution of a natural Aleksandrov-type problem in n-normed spaces, namely, we show that every surjective transformation which preserves the unit n-distance in both directions (\(n\ge 2\)) is automatically an n-isometry.  相似文献

In this paper we will continue the analysis undertaken in Bagarello et al. (Rend Circ Mat Palermo (2) 55:21–28, 2006), Bongiorno et al. (Rocky Mt J Math 40(6):1745–1777, 2010), Triolo (Rend Circ Mat Palermo (2) 60(3):409–416, 2011) on the general problem of extending the noncommutative integration in a *-algebra of measurable operators. As in Aiena et al. (Filomat 28(2):263–273, 2014), Bagarello (Stud Math 172(3):289–305, 2006) and Bagarello et al. (Rend Circ Mat Palermo (2) 55:21–28, 2006), the main problem is to represent different types of partial *-algebras into a *-algebra of measurable operators in Segal’s sense, provided that these partial *-algebras posses a sufficient family of positive linear functionals (states) (Fragoulopoulou et al., J Math Anal Appl 388(2):1180–1193, 2012; Trapani and Triolo, Stud Math 184(2):133–148, 2008; Trapani and Triolo, Rend Circolo Mat Palermo 59:295–302, 2010; La Russa and Triolo, J Oper Theory, 69:2, 2013; Triolo, J Pure Appl Math, 43(6):601–617, 2012). In this paper, a new condition is given in an attempt to provide a extension of the non commutative integration.  相似文献

In this paper, we determine numerically a large class of equilibrium configurations of an elastic two-dimensional continuous pantographic sheet in three-dimensional deformation consisting of two families of fibers which are parabolic prior to deformation. The fibers are assumed (1) to be continuously distributed over the sample, (2) to be endowed of bending and torsional stiffnesses, and (3) tied together at their points of intersection to avoid relative slipping by means of internal (elastic) pivots. This last condition characterizes the system as a pantographic lattice (Alibert and Della Corte in Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik 66(5):2855–2870, 2015; Alibert et al. in Math Mech Solids 8(1):51–73, 2003; dell’Isola et al. in Int J Non-Linear Mech 80:200–208, 2016; Int J Solids Struct 81:1–12, 2016). The model that we employ here, developed by Steigmann and dell’Isola (Acta Mech Sin 31(3):373–382, 2015) and first investigated in Giorgio et al. (Comptes rendus Mecanique 2016, doi:10.1016/j.crme.2016.02.009), is applicable to fiber lattices in which three-dimensional bending, twisting, and stretching are significant as well as a resistance to shear distortion, i.e., to the angle change between the fibers. Some relevant numerical examples are exhibited in order to highlight the main features of the model adopted: In particular, buckling and post-buckling behaviors of pantographic parabolic lattices are investigated. The fabric of the metamaterial presented in this paper has been conceived to resist more effectively in the extensional bias tests by storing more elastic bending energy and less energy in the deformation of elastic pivots: A comparison with a fabric constituted by beams which are straight in the reference configuration shows that the proposed concept is promising.  相似文献

Gradient Ricci solitons and metrics with half harmonic Weyl curvature are two natural generalizations of Einstein metrics on four-manifolds. In this paper we prove that if a metric has structures of both gradient shrinking Ricci soliton and half harmonic Weyl curvature, then except for three examples, it has to be an Einstein metric with positive scalar curvature. Precisely, we prove that a four-dimensional gradient shrinking Ricci soliton with \(\delta W^{\pm }=0\) is either Einstein, or a finite quotient of \(S^3\times \mathbb {R}\), \(S^2\times \mathbb {R}^2\) or \(\mathbb {R}^4\). We also prove that a four-dimensional gradient Ricci soliton with constant scalar curvature is either Kähler–Einstein, or a finite quotient of \(M\times \mathbb {C}\), where M is a Riemann surface. The method of our proof is to construct a weighted subharmonic function using curvature decompositions and the Weitzenböck formula for half Weyl curvature, and the method was motivated by previous work (Gursky and LeBrun in Ann Glob Anal Geom 17:315–328, 1999; Wu in Einstein four-manifolds of three-nonnegative curvature operator 2013; Trans Am Math Soc 369:1079–1096, 2017; Yang in Invent Math 142:435–450, 2000) on the rigidity of Einstein four-manifolds with positive sectional curvature, and previous work (Cao and Chen in Trans Am Math Soc 364:2377–2391, 2012; Duke Math J 162:1003–1204, 2013; Catino in Math Ann 35:629–635, 2013) on the rigidity of gradient Ricci solitons.  相似文献

We present a local convergence analysis of Gauss-Newton method for solving nonlinear least square problems. Using more precise majorant conditions than in earlier studies such as Chen (Comput Optim Appl 40:97–118, 2008), Chen and Li (Appl Math Comput 170:686–705, 2005), Chen and Li (Appl Math Comput 324:1381–1394, 2006), Ferreira (J Comput Appl Math 235:1515–1522, 2011), Ferreira and Gonçalves (Comput Optim Appl 48:1–21, 2011), Ferreira and Gonçalves (J Complex 27(1):111–125, 2011), Li et al. (J Complex 26:268–295, 2010), Li et al. (Comput Optim Appl 47:1057–1067, 2004), Proinov (J Complex 25:38–62, 2009), Ewing, Gross, Martin (eds.) (The merging of disciplines: new directions in pure, applied and computational mathematics 185–196, 1986), Traup (Iterative methods for the solution of equations, 1964), Wang (J Numer Anal 20:123–134, 2000), we provide a larger radius of convergence; tighter error estimates on the distances involved and a clearer relationship between the majorant function and the associated least squares problem. Moreover, these advantages are obtained under the same computational cost.  相似文献

Bounded additive models in data envelopment analysis (DEA) under the assumption of constant returns to scale (CRS) were recently introduced in the literature (Cooper et al. in J Product Anal 35(2):85–94, 2011; Pastor et al. in J Product Anal 40:285–292, 2013; Pastor et al. in Omega 56:16–24, 2015). In this paper, we propose to extend the so far generated knowledge about bounded additive models to the family of directional distance function (DDF) models in DEA, giving rise to a completely new subfamily of bounded or partially-bounded CRS-DDF models. We finally check the new approach on a real agricultural panel data set estimating efficiency and productivity change over time, resorting to the Luenberger indicator in a context where at least one variable is naturally bounded.  相似文献
