The spin Hamiltonian (SH) parameters (zero-field splitting D and anisotropic g factors g(||) and g( perpendicular)) and local structures for Cs(3)CoX(5) (X = Cl, Br) are theoretically studied from the perturbation formulas of the SH parameters for a 3d(7) ion in tetragonally distorted tetrahedra based on the cluster approach. In these formulas, both the contributions from the crystal-field (CF) mechanism and those from the charge-transfer (CT) mechanism are taken into account. It is found that the [CoX(4)](2-) clusters are slightly elongated and the tetragonal distortion angles Deltatheta(=theta-theta(0), where theta(0) equals to approximately 54.74 degrees is the bonding angle related to the C(4)-axis in regular tetrahedra) are about -1.68 degrees and -1.71 degrees for X = Cl and Br, respectively. The calculated SH parameters as well as the effective magnetic moments based on the above angles are in reasonable agreement with the observed values. From the studies, the importance of the contributions to the SH parameters from the CT mechanism increases with increasing the spin-orbit coupling coefficient of the ligand, i.e., Cl(-) < Br(-). The results are compared with those obtained from the conventional crystal-field model in the previous works.  相似文献

The reaction of nickel, cobalt, and manganese with 1,2-ethylenediphosphonic acid or 1,2-ethylenediphosphonic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydrothermal conditions resulted in the pillared layered structures Co2(H2O)2(O3PC2H4PO3) (I) and Ni2(H2O)2(O3PC2H4PO3) (II), which are isostructural to a zinc phase that has previously been characterized by X-ray powder methods. In addition, a 1D chain structure, Mn(HO3P(CH2)2PO3H)(H2O)2(C12H8N2) (III), and a pillared layered structure, Mn(HO3P(CH2)2PO3H) (IV), were obtained. The structures of these phases were solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The crystallographic data are as follows: compound I P21/n (No. 14), a = 5.6500(11) A, b = 4.7800(10) A, c = 15.330(3) A, beta = 98.50(3) degrees, V = 409.47(14) A3, Z = 2; compound II P21/n (No. 14), a = 5.5807(11) A, b = 4.7205(9) A, c = 15.250(3) A, beta = 98.55(3) degrees, V = 397.28(13) A3, Z = 2; compound III C2/c (No. 15), a = 12.109(2) A, b = 15.328(3) A, c = 9.848(2) A, beta = 108.88(3) degrees, V = 1729.5(6) A3, Z = 4; compound IV P (No. 2), a = 5.498(5) A, b = 7.715(6) A, c = 8.093(7) A, alpha = 82.986(12) degrees, beta = 75.565(12) degrees, gamma = 80.582(12)degrees, V = 326.7(5) A3, Z = 2. Magnetic measurements show antiferromagnetic behavior below TN = 7 K for I and 13 K for II.  相似文献

A series of Werner complexes featuring the tridentate ligand smif, that is, 1,3-di-(2-pyridyl)-2-azaallyl, have been prepared. Syntheses of (smif)(2)M (1-M; M = Cr, Fe) were accomplished via treatment of M(NSiMe(3))(2)(THF)(n) (M = Cr, n = 2; Fe, n = 1) with 2 equiv of (smif)H (1,3-di-(2-pyridyl)-2-azapropene); ortho-methylated ((o)Mesmif)(2)Fe (2-Fe) and ((o)Me(2)smif)(2)Fe (3-Fe) were similarly prepared. Metatheses of MX(2) variants with 2 equiv of Li(smif) or Na(smif) generated 1-M (M = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, Ru). Metathesis of VCl(3)(THF)(3) with 2 Li(smif) with a reducing equiv of Na/Hg present afforded 1-V, while 2 Na(smif) and IrCl(3)(THF)(3) in the presence of NaBPh(4) gave [(smif)(2)Ir]BPh(4) (1(+)-Ir). Electrochemical experiments led to the oxidation of 1-M (M = Cr, Mn, Co) by AgOTf to produce [(smif)(2)M]OTf (1(+)-M), and treatment of Rh(2)(O(2)CCF(3))(4) with 4 equiv Na(smif) and 2 AgOTf gave 1(+)-Rh. Characterizations by NMR, EPR, and UV-vis spectroscopies, SQUID magnetometry, X-ray crystallography, and DFT calculations are presented. Intraligand (IL) transitions derived from promotion of electrons from the unique CNC(nb) (nonbonding) orbitals of the smif backbone to ligand π*-type orbitals are intense (ε ≈ 10,000-60,000 M(-1)cm(-1)), dominate the UV-visible spectra, and give crystals a metallic-looking appearance. High energy K-edge spectroscopy was used to show that the smif in 1-Cr is redox noninnocent, and its electron configuration is best described as (smif(-))(smif(2-))Cr(III); an unusual S = 1 EPR spectrum (X-band) was obtained for 1-Cr.  相似文献

The spin Hamiltonian parameters (g factors, hyperfine structure constants and superhyperfine parameters) and local structures for Ag2+ centers in AgCl and KCl crystals are theoretically studied using the high-order perturbation formulas for a tetragonally elongated 4d 9 cluster. The impurity centers undergo relative elongations (≈0.05 Å and 0.23 Å for Ag2+ in AgCl and KCl, respectively) along the C 4 axis owing to the Jahn–Teller effect. All the calculated spin Hamiltonian parameters show good agreement with the experimental data, and the ligand contributions to the spin Hamiltonian parameters are important and should be taken into account. The unpaired spin densities in the superhyperfine parameters are determined from molecular orbital coefficients based on the cluster approach, instead of being taken as the adjustable parameters in the previous treatments. Increasing tetragonal elongation from AgCl to KCl is attributed to a decrease in chemical bonding (or lower force constant) with increasing Ag2+–Cl distance.  相似文献

The mononuclear Re(IV) compound of formula (PPh(4))(2)[ReBr(4)(mal)] (1) was used as a ligand to obtain the heterobimetallic species [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Co(dmphen)(2)]· MeCN (2), [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Ni(dmphen)(2)] (3), [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Mn(dmphen)(2)] (4a), [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Mn(dmphen)(H(2)O)(2)]·dmphen·MeCN·H(2)O (4b), [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Cu(phen)(2)]·1/4H(2)O (5) and [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)Cu(bipy)(2)] (6) (mal = malonate dianion, dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine). The structures of 2 and 5 (single-crystal X-ray diffraction) are made up of neutral [ReBr(4)(μ-mal)M(AA)] dinuclear units [AA = dmphen with M = Co (2) and AA = phen with M = Cu (5)] where the metal ions are connected through a malonate ligand which exhibits simultaneously the bidentate [at the Re(IV)] and monodentate [at the M(II)] coordination modes. The carboxylate-malonate group in them adopts the anti-syn conformation with intramolecular ReM separation of 5.098(8) (2) and 4.947(2) ? (5). The magnetic properties of 1-6 were investigated in the temperature range 1.9-295 K. The magnetic behaviour of 1 is the expected for a magnetically isolated Re(IV) complex with a large value of the zero-field splitting (2D ca. -70 cm(-1)) whereas weak antiferromagnetic interactions between Re(IV) and M(II) are observed in the heterobimetallic compounds 2 (J = -0.63 cm(-1)), 3 (J = -1.37 cm(-1)), 4a (J = -1.29 cm(-1)), 5 (J = -1.83 cm(-1)) and 6 (J = -0.26 cm(-1)). Remarkably, 4b behaves as a ferrimagnetic chain with regular alternating Re(IV) and Mn(II) cations (J = -2.64 cm(-1)).  相似文献

Abstract

Stoichiometry and thermodynamic parameters of the title clathrates dissociation have been studied with thermoanalytical and strain method techniques. The [MPy4(NO3)2]*2Py (M = Mn, Co, Ni) clathrates dissociate with collapsing clathrate porous phase and destruction of the host complex to give the respective tripyridine complexes and gaseous pyridine. The [CuPy4(NO3)2]*2Py dissociates with collapsing clathrate phase but giving the host [CuPy4(NO3)2] complex as individual phase, with the tripyridine complex forming in further course of decomposition. The comparison of the thermodynamic dissociation parameters for the [MPy4(NO3)2]*2Py series with M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Cd shows that the differences in the stability of the compounds do not correlate with structural parameters of the clathrates but depend on the nature of the metal cation in the host complex. Thermodynamic stability of these clathrate phases follows the general sequence of stabilty for complexes of the 3d transition metals known as Irwing-Williams sequence: Mn<Fe<Co<Ni<Cu>Zn. These results disclose the main issue of instability of the [MPy4(NO3)2]*2Py clathrates as instability of the respective host complexes.  相似文献

The porosity and hydrogen storage properties for the dehydrated Prussian blue analogues M3[Co(CN)6]2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) are reported. Argon sorption isotherms measured at 87 K afford BET surface areas ranging from 560 m2/g for Ni3[Co(CN)6]2 to 870 m2/g for Mn3[Co(CN)6]2; the latter value is comparable to the highest surface area reported for any known zeolite. All six compounds show significant hydrogen sorption at 77 K and 890 Torr, varying from 1.4 wt % and 0.018 kg H2/L for Zn3[Co(CN)6]2 to 1.8 wt % and 0.025 kg H2/L for Cu3[Co(CN)6]2. Fits to the sorption data employing the Langmuir-Freundlich equation give maximum uptake quantities, resulting in a predicted storage capacity of 2.1 wt % and 0.029 kg H2/L for Cu3[Co(CN)6]2 at saturation. Enthalpies of adsorption for the frameworks were calculated from hydrogen isotherms measured at 77 and 87 K and found to increase with M varying in the order Mn < Zn < Fe < Co < Cu < Ni. In all cases, the binding enthalpies, which lie in the range of 5.3-7.4 kJ/mol, are higher than the 4.7-5.2 kJ/mol measured for Zn4O(1,4-benzenedicarboxylate)3.  相似文献

From the high-order perturbation formulas of EPR parameters (zero-field splitting D, g factors gparallel, gperpendicular and hyperfine structure constants Aparallel, Aperpendicular) based on the two spin-orbit coupling parameter model for 3d3 ions in trigonal symmetry, the EPR parameters of Cr3+ and V2+ ions in HfS2 crystals are calculated. From the calculations, it is found that the local trigonal distortion angle theta of impurity center in HfS2:Cr3+ is smaller than that in HfS2:V2+. The dominant cause of the small zero-field splitting |D| and g-anisotropy |Deltag|=|gparallel-gperpendicular| in HfS2:Cr3+ (compound to HfS2:V2+) is due to the small local trigonal distortion angle theta rather than to the small impurity-ligand distance R in HfS2:Cr3+.  相似文献

Four compounds of general formula [M(4,4'bipy)(N(3))2](n) (M = Mn (1), Zn (2), Co (3), Ni (4)) have been synthesized and magnetostructurally characterized by means of X-ray diffraction analysis, IR and ESR spectroscopies, and measurements of the magnetic susceptibility and magnetization. Compound 1 (C(10)H(8)N(8)Mn) crystallizes in the tetragonal P4(3)2(1)2 space group, Z = 4, with a = 8.229(2), b = 8.229(2), and c = 16.915(2) A. It exhibits an acentric 3D structure where Mn(II) ions are linked through EE-azide groups resulting in a diamondoid network. The 4,4'bipy ligands are coordinated on the axial positions of the octahedral spheres reinforcing the intermetallic connections. Weak ferromagnetism arising from spin canting is observed for compound 1. Compounds 2, 3, and 4 are proposed to be isomorphous and would consist of a 2D array where alternating EO + EE/EO + EE/EO + EO azide-chains are linked by 4,4'bipy ligands resulting in pi-pi stacked pyridyl-columns. The azido ligand dispositions in compounds 3 and 4 make possible systems of type -AF-AF-F-, which would give rise to a topological ferromagnetic behavior.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) parameters (g factors g parallel, g perpendicular and hyperfine structure constants A parallel, A perpendicular) for Co2+ ions in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 crystals are calculated from the second-order perturbation formulas based on the cluster approach for 3d7 ions in trigonal octahedral clusters. The calculated results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental values. From the calculations, the negative sign of A parallel for Co2+ in the two crystals and the more exact and rational values of A parallel for Co2+ in LiTaO3 are suggested. The defect structures (characterized by the Co2+ displacement DeltaZ along C3 axis and the O(2-) displacement DeltaX in an oxygen triangle towards the center of the triangle) for the Co2+ centers in both crystals are estimated. The results are discussed.  相似文献

State of the art coupled cluster (CC) methods are applied to accurately characterize the ground state electronic structure and photoelectron spectra of transition metal carbene ions MCH(2) (+) (M=Fe, Co, and Ni). The geometries and energies of the lowest energy quartet, triplet, and doublet electronic states as well as several low-lying vertical excitation energies of FeCH(2) (+), CoCH(2) (+), and NiCH(2) (+) are reported. The excitation energies are computed using the equation-of-motion CC and for states of different symmetries, by the energy differences of single reference ground and excited states (Delta-CC). The latter employ several reference states; the unrestricted Hartree-Fock, restricted open shell Hartree-Fock, and unrestricted Kohn-Sham. We conclude that the (2)A(1) electronic ground state of NiCH(2) (+) is separated by about 30.0 kJ/mol from the next highest state, and the lowest (4)B(1) and (4)B(2) states of FeCH(2) (+) as well as the (3)A(2) and (3)A(1) states of CoCH(2) (+) are nearly degenerate. The presence of metal-pi*(MCH(2)) charge transfer states with significant oscillator strengths in the visible/near-UV energy domain of the theoretical spectra of FeCH(2) (+) and CoCH(2) (+) are at the origin of the photofragmentation of these compounds observed after irradiation between 310 and 360 nm.  相似文献

The spin Hamiltonian parameters (the g factors and the hyperfine structure constants) and local structure for ZnO:Cu2+ are theoretically studied from the perturbation formulas of these parameters for a 3d9 ion under trigonally distorted tetrahedra. The ligand orbital and spin-orbit coupling contributions are taken into account from the cluster approach due to the significant covalency of the [CuO4](6-) cluster. According to the investigations, the impurity Cu2+ is suggested not to locate on the ideal Zn2+ site in ZnO but to undergo a slight outward displacement (approximately 0.01 angstroms) away from the ligand triangle along C3 axis. The calculated spin Hamiltonian parameters are in good agreement with the observed values. The validity of the above impurity displacement is also discussed.  相似文献

The reactions of [M(II)(Tpm(Me))(H2O)3]2+ (M = Ni, Co, Fe; Tpm(Me) = tris(3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazoyl)methane) with [Bu4N][(Tp)Fe(III)(CN)3] (Bu4N+ = tetrabutylammonium cation; Tp = tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate) in MeCN-Et2O afford three pentanuclear cyano-bridged clusters, [(Tp)3(Tpm(Me))2Fe(III)3M(II)2(CN)9]ClO4.15H2O (M = Ni, 1; M = Co, 2) and [(Tp)3(Tpm(Me))2Fe(III)3Fe(II)2(CN)9]BF4.15H2O (3). Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that they show the same trigonal bipyramidal structure featuring a D3h-symmetry core, in which two opposing Tpm(Me)-ligated M(II) ions situated in the two apical positions are linked through cyanide bridges to an equatorial triangle of three Tp-ligated Fe(III) (S = 1/2) centers. Magnetic studies for complex 1 show ferromagnetic coupling giving an S = 7/2 ground state and an appreciable magnetic anisotropy with a negative D(7/2) value equal to -0.79 cm(-1). Complex 2 shows zero-field splitting parameters deducted from the magnetization data with D = -1.33 cm(-1) and g = 2.81. Antiferromagnetic interaction was observed in complex 3.  相似文献

Heterobimetallic hexanuclear cyano-bridged complexes, [{Fe(Tp)(CN)3}4{M(MeCN)(H2O)2}(2)].10H2O.2MeCN [M = Ni (1), Co (2), Mn (3); Tp = hydrotris(1-pyrazolyl)borate], have been synthesized in H2O-MeCN solution. Complexes 1-3 are isostructural and hexanuclear with [{Fe(Tp)(CN)3}4{M(MeCN)(H2O)2}2] units linked by hydrogen bonds to form a 2D-structure in the solid state. Complex 1 is a canted antiferromagnet that undergoes a field-induced spin-flop-like transition at approximately 1 T and 2 K. At 4.45 K 1 has a transition to paramagnetic state of noninteracting S = 4 magnetic clusters. However, 2 and 3 show antiferromagnetic intracluster coupling. Facile loss of solvent from 2 alters the local symmetry resulting in changing the intracluster interaction from antiferro- to ferromagnetic.  相似文献

Equilibrium constants have been determined both potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically for reactions of the type M2++Cl??MCl+ using aqueous solutions of the corresponding metal perchlorates as the reaction media (M=Mn, Co, Ni, and Zn). The variation in the quotient of the activity coefficients of these reactions with increasing molality of the reaction medium has been found to be approximately the same for the CuCl+ (previously studied), MnCl+, and ZnCl+ complexes, while a different dependence is observed for the CoCl+ and NiCl+ complexes. The results are interpreted as indicating equilibrium coexistence of the [MCl(OH2)5]+ and {[M(OH2)6]Cl}+ species in the latter two cases. Approximate values of the corresponding equilibrium constants are estimated in addition to the derived overall thermodynamic stability constants of the MCl+ formal complexes. The latter are found to follow a partly inverted Irving-Williams series, the fact being accountable in terms of the ligand field stabilization energy.  相似文献

The spin-Hamiltonian parameters (g factors g∥, g⊥ and zero-field splittings b2(0), b4(0), b4(4), b6(0), b6(4)) for 4f7 ion Gd3+ at the tetragonal M4+ site of zircon-structure silicates MSiO4 (M=Zr, Hf, Th) are calculated from a diagonalization (of energy matrix) method. The Hamiltonian concerning this energy matrix contains the free-ion, crystal-field interaction and Zeeman interaction terms and the 56×56 energy matrix is constructed by considering the ground multiplet 8S7/2 and the excited multiplets 6L7/2 (L=P, D, F, G, H, I). The defect structures of Gd3+ centers in the three MSiO4 crystals are yielded from the calculation. The results are discussed.  相似文献

New heterobimetallic tetranuclear complexes of formula [Fe(III){B(pz)(4)}(CN)(2)(μ-CN)Mn(II)(bpy)(2)](2)(ClO(4))(2)·CH(3)CN (1), [Fe(III){HB(pz)(3)}(CN)(2)(μ-CN)Ni(II)(dmphen)(2)](2)(ClO(4))(2)·2CH(3)OH (2a), [Fe(III){B(pz)(4)}(CN)(2)(μ-CN)Ni(II)(dmphen)(2)](2)(ClO(4))(2)·2CH(3)OH (2b), [Fe(III){HB(pz)(3)}(CN)(2)(μ-CN)Co(II)(dmphen)(2)](2)(ClO(4))(2)·2CH(3)OH (3a), and [Fe(III){B(pz)(4)}(CN)(2)(μ-CN)Co(II)(dmphen)(2)](2)(ClO(4))(2)·2CH(3)OH (3b), [HB(pz)(3)(-) = hydrotris(1-pyrazolyl)borate, B(Pz)(4)(-) = tetrakis(1-pyrazolyl)borate, dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine] have been synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. Complexes 1-3b have been prepared by following a rational route based on the self-assembly of the tricyanometalate precursor fac-[Fe(III)(L)(CN)(3)](-) (L = tridentate anionic ligand) and cationic preformed complexes [M(II)(L')(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) (L' = bidentate α-diimine type ligand), this last species having four blocked coordination sites and two labile ones located in cis positions. The structures of 1-3b consist of cationic tetranuclear Fe(III)(2)M(II)(2) square complexes [M = Mn (1), Ni (2a and 2b), Co (3a and 3b)] where corners are defined by the metal ions and the edges by the Fe-CN-M units. The charge is balanced by free perchlorate anions. The [Fe(L)(CN)(3)](-) complex in 1-3b acts as a ligand through two cyanide groups toward two divalent metal complexes. The magnetic properties of 1-3b have been investigated in the temperature range 2-300 K. A moderately strong antiferromagnetic interaction between the low-spin Fe(III) (S = 1/2) and high-spin Mn(II) (S = 5/2) ions has been found for 1 leading to an S = 4 ground state (J(1) = -6.2 and J(2) = -2.7 cm(-1)), whereas a moderately strong ferromagnetic interaction between the low-spin Fe(III) (S = 1/2) and high-spin Ni(II) (S = 1) and Co(II) (S = 3/2) ions has been found for complexes 2a-3b with S = 3 (2a and 2b) and S = 4 (3a and 3b) ground spin states [J(1) = +21.4 cm(-1) and J(2) = +19.4 cm(-1) (2a); J(1) = +17.0 cm(-1) and J(2) = +12.5 cm(-1) (2b); J(1) = +5.4 cm(-1) and J(2) = +11.1 cm(-1) (3a); J(1) = +8.1 cm(-1) and J(2) = +11.0 cm(-1) (3b)] [the exchange Hamiltonian being of the type H? = -J(S?(i)·S?(j))]. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been used to substantiate the nature and magnitude of the exchange magnetic coupling observed in 1-3b and also to analyze the dependence of the exchange magnetic coupling on the structural parameters of the Fe-C-N-M skeleton.  相似文献

The complete high-order perturbation formulas of EPR parameters (g factors g( parallel), g( perpendicular) and zero-field splitting D), containing the crystal-field (CF) mechanism and charge-transfer (CT) mechanism (the latter is omitted in crystal-field theory which is often used to study the EPR parameters), are established from a cluster approach for 3d3 ions in tetragonal octahedral sites. According to the calculations based on these formulas, the EPR parameters g( parallel), g( perpendicular) and zero-field splitting D for Cr3+ and Mn4+ ions in PbTiO3 crystals are explained reasonably. The calculations show that (i) the sign of g-shift Deltag(i)(CT) (=g(i)-g(s), where g(s)=2.0023 is free-electron value and i= parallel and perpendicular) in CT mechanism is opposite to, but that of D(CT) is the same as, the corresponding signs in the CF mechanism and (ii) the relative importance of CT mechanism for the high valence state 3d3 ion (e.g., Mn4+) is large and so the contributions to EPR parameters from CT mechanism should be taken into account. The different sign of splitting D and the different defect structure for Cr3+ and Mn4+ impurity centers in PbTiO3 crystals are also suggested from the calculations. The results are discussed.  相似文献

One-pot reactions of 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde, chiral phenylethanamines and Fe(II) give single diastereomer fac diimine complexes at thermodynamic equilibrium so that no chiral separations are required (d.r. > 200 : 1). The origins of this stereoselectivity are partly steric and partly a result of the presence of three sets of inter-ligand parallel-offset π-stacking interactions. Mn(II), Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II) and Zn(II) give similar fac structures, alongside the imidazole analogues for Fe(II). While most of the complexes are paramagnetic, the series of molecular structures allows us to assess the influence of the π-stacking present, and there is a strong correlation between this and the M-N bond length. Fe(II) is close to optimal. For the larger Zn(II) ion, very weak π-stacking leads to poorer measured stereoselectivity (NMR) but this is improved with increased solvent polarity. The mechanism of stereoselection is further investigated via DFT calculations, chiroptical spectroscopy and the use of synthetic probes.  相似文献
