The screening of the Coulomb interaction is studied with regard to Friedel oscillations in multicomponent electron plasma structure. A double quantum well (QW) and a superlattice are considered. The groundstate energy of a donor (exciton) in a double quantum well is calculated by a variational method as a function of the population of subbands.  相似文献

A basis of polarization-dressed states is proposed for atomic energy levels degenerate in the total angular momentum projections in the case of interaction with elliptically polarized light. It is shown that instead of selection rules for the magnetic quantum number, the interaction in this basis can be presented as the sum of direct transitions between corresponding pairs of polarization-dressed states of the upper and lower levels. The explicit form of the basis is derived for ten possible combinations of dipole transitions between energy levels with angular momenta J = 0, 1/2, 1, 3/2, and 2. The problem of Rabi oscillations in such a system is considered as an application.  相似文献

Measurements of energy-resolved angular distributions of electrons generated in above-threshold ionization of rare gases in a field with elliptical polarization are presented, with emphasis on the high-energy part of the spectra. The data show a second plateau at a specific angle with respect to the large component of the laser field. The results are compared to a calculation based on a strong-field rescattering approximation. This is interpreted in terms of the superposition of quantum trajectories. The second plateau is associated with the interference of electrons that do and that do not rescatter.  相似文献

The saturated absorption resonance in an atomic gas in the field of counterpropagating light waves with an arbitrary elliptical polarization is investigated. A conclusion about the peculiarities of the resonance shape is drawn from a general analysis of the symmetry of the problem. In particular, a new effect has been found: the polarization parameters of the light waves can lead to an asymmetry and shift of the resonance. These conclusions are corroborated by an approximate analytical solution for the F g = 1 → F e = 2 transition and by numerical calculations. Apart from their fundamental importance, the results obtained can have important applications in metrology (frequency and time standards).  相似文献

Presently available laser sources can yield powers for which the ponderomotive energy of an electrons can be equal to or even larger than the rest energy mc 2 of an electron. Therefore it has become of interest to consider fundamental radiation-induced or assisted processes in such powerful laser fields. In the present work we consider laser-induced Compton scattering and laser-assisted electron atom scattering in such fields, assuming that the laser beam has arbitrary elliptic polarization. We investigate in detail the angular and polarisation dependence of the differential cross-sections of the two laser-induced or laser-assisted nonlinear processes as a function of the order N of absorbed or emitted laser photons . We examine the kinetics of atoms with their ground and excited states being degenerate in the projection of angular momentum. The atoms are located in a standing wave with uniform elliptical polarization. Using the j g =1/2→j e =1/2 transition as an example, we show that the friction and diffusion of atoms strongly depend on the ellipticity of the field. For instance, in the low saturation limit the frictional force contains, in addition to the ordinary Doppler friction term, a term that can be interpreted as Sisyphean friction. Under certain conditions, the contributions reflecting the degeneracy of the ground state are dominant, with the result that the values of the friction and diffusion coefficients (and hence the rate of kinetic processes) may differ from the values predicted by the two-level atomic model by several orders of magnitude. The kinetics of atoms with degenerate energy levels in the field produced by elliptically polarized waves is considered in the semiclassical approximation. Analytic expressions for the force acting on an atom and for the diffusion coefficient in the momentum space are derived for the optical transition J g =1/2→J e = 1/2 in the slow atom approximation. These expressions are valid for an arbitrary one-dimensional configuration of the light field and for an arbitrary intensity. The peculiarities of the atomic kinetics are investigated in detail; these peculiarities are associated with ellipticity of light waves and are absent in particular configurations formed by circularly or linearly polarized waves, which were considered earlier.  相似文献

A new representation of the interaction between a laser field and an atom is obtained. The Fourier component of the interaction is represented as a multipole expansion dependent on the force parameter of the field, a 0=F2, and the degree of its ellipticity, η. This representation provides the analytical separation of the angles in the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The stationary spherically symmetric part of the potential V 0(r, a 0, η) of a “field-dressed” atom is singled out. The application of the new representation to the calculation of nonlinear effects and electron scattering by an atom in a field are discussed  相似文献

The parameters of nonlinear absorption magneto-optical resonances in the Hanle configuration have been studied as functions of the ellipticity of a traveling light wave. It has been found that these parameters (amplitude, width, and amplitude-to-width ratio) depend strongly on the polarization of the light wave. In particular, the resonance amplitude can increase by more than an order of magnitude when the polarization changes from linear to optimal elliptic. It has been shown that this effect is associated with the Doppler frequency shift for atoms in a gas. The theoretical results have been corroborated in experiments in Rb vapor.  相似文献

The interaction of elliptically polarized radiation with a resonant medium consisting of atoms with an excited state split into a doublet was studied theoretically. Interference terms associated with the coherent interaction of the field with the excited sublevels of the doublet were found to appear in the refractive index. The dispersion dependence of the refractive index was studied. It was shown that the decay constants for the multipole moments of the current of a dipole-forbidden atomic transition can be determined by the choice of the wave polarization.  相似文献

The rectification of the force of induced light pressure in laser fields formed by elliptically polarized running waves in zero magnetic field is considered. Explicit analytic expressions for the induced and spontaneous forces of light pressure exerted on a stationary atom are obtained for two classes of closed optical transitions: J g=JJ e=J+1 and J g=JJ e=J (J is half-integral), where J g and J e are the total angular momenta of the ground and excited energy levels. It is shown that the ellipticity of waves is the necessary condition for the emergence of the rectification of the induced force in a monochromatic field. The optimal parameters of the field and the maximum rectification coefficient are calculated for a number of optical transitions. The dependence of the rectified force on the velocity is investigated analytically and numerically for the simplest 1/2→1/2 transition.  相似文献

The effect of initial longitudinal velocity of the tunnelled electron on the non-sequential double ionization(NSDI) process in an elliptically polarized laser field is studied by a semiclassical model.We find that the non-zero initial longitudinal velocity has a suppressing effect on single-return collision(SRC) events in the double ionization process,more specifically,it results in an obvious reduction in the center part of the correlation momentum distributions in the direction of the major polarization axis(z axis) and makes the distribution of single-return collision in the minor polarization axis(x axis) become narrower.  相似文献

Theoretical results for high-harmonic generation by a two-color elliptically polarized laser field are presented. Special emphasis is placed on coherent radiation near 13 nm in connection with the development of extreme-ultraviolet lithography. Linearly polarized radiation at this wavelength can be obtained with a linearly polarized bichromatic laser field, whereas circularly polarized radiation can be generated with a bichromatic circularly polarized field with counterrotating coplanar components. In both cases the harmonic emission efficiencies at the saturation intensity are more than 1 order of magnitude larger than for harmonic generation with a monochromatic linearly polarized field.  相似文献

Based on the two-level model of recording and read-out of dynamic holographic gratings, precise expressions for wave amplitudes, diffraction efficiency and the gain coefficient representing the generalization of the corresponding formula by Kukhtarevet al. have been obtained. This model allows one to take into account the effect of the read-out beam on the holographic grating and to solve a problem of four-wave mixing in transmission geometry with wave depletion and arbitrary value of the spatial phase shift between the holographic grating and the interference pattern.  相似文献

We investigated the nonsequential double ionization(NSDI) in Ar by two-color elliptically polarized laser field with a three-dimensional(3D) classical ensemble method. We study the relative phase effect of NSDI and distinguish two particular recollision channels in NSDI, which are recollision–impact ionization(RII) and recollision-induced excitation with subsequent ionization(RESI), according to the delay-time between the recollision and the final double ionization. The numerical results indicate that the ion momentum distribution is changed and the triangle structure is more obvious with the decrease of the relative phase. We also demonstrate that the RESI process always dominates in the whole double ionization process and the ratio of RESI and RII channels can be influenced by the relative phase.  相似文献

Based on the vectorial Debye theory,the focusing properties of the Gaussian beam through an annular high numerical aperture are studied numerically,including the intensity,the phase and the orbital angular momentum properties.Then the influence of certain parameters on the focusing properties is also investigated.It is shown that sub-wavelength elliptical light spots can be obtained.And there exists a vortex in the longitudinal component of the focused field even though the incident beam is Gaussian beam,indicating that the spin angular momentum of the elliptically polarized Gaussian beam is converted into the orbital angular momentum by the focusing.  相似文献
