A polarization method has been proposed for transforming the nonlinear electromagnetically induced transparency resonance into the electromagnetically induced absorption resonance (and vice versa) in the Hanle configuration in the field of counterpropagating waves. Numerical calculations have been performed for the F g = 2 → F e = 1 and F g = 2 → F e = 3 transitions in the 87Rb atom. The qualitative analysis of the effect has been performed for the three-level Λ scheme of the atomic energy levels. The main theoretical conclusions are in qualitative agreement with our experimental data for 87Rb. The results can be applied in magnetometry and nonlinear optics.  相似文献

We consider axion formation processes in the synchrotron (e e a) and annihilation (e e +a) channels in a constant crossed field F μν Fμν=Fμν*F μν =0, which approximates constant fields of other configurations in the ultrarelativistic asymptotic limit. The probability and intensity of axion emission are obtained, and we analyze the energy and field asymptotics. A comparison with the characteristic neutrino channel yields the constraints on the axion mass and the energy scale for Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking. We present the results of spectroscopic and polarization studies of dilute rubidium vapor exposed to a single-frequency linearly polarized diode laser radiation in a spectral range of atomic D2 line. We report the origin of a circularly polarized radiation on V-type transitions of 87Rb F g = 2 → F e = 3 and 85Rb F g = 3 → F e = 4, and amplification of this radiation in backward direction caused by a partial population inversion among magnetic sublevels of the ground and excited levels. This is confirmed experimentally by high directivity of backward radiation, absence in its spectrum of 85Rb F g = 2 → F e = 1 (Λ-type) radiation, as well as by different nature of intensity dependences of backward and fluorescence radiations.  相似文献

We report results of a theoretical and experimental study of the ground state nonlinear Hanle effect under strong laser excitation. It is shown that besides the well-known zero-magnetic field suppression of absorption on F g = FF e = F - 1 transitions caused by population trapping, an optical pumping induced enhanced absorption occurs on F g = FF e = F + 1 transitions for small B-fields. The latter effect becomes more pronounced for high F values. The experiment with atomic vapor of Cs (D2 line, F g = 4) confirms an increase of the spectrally unresolved fluorescence yield at zero magnetic field and 600 mW/cm2 laser intensity by 9% or 42%, when excitation occurs with linearly or circularly polarized light, respectively. The results of the experiment agree with numerical simulation studies using equations of motion for a density matrix. The orientational dependences of the EPR spectra of Fe3+-doped LiCaAlF6 single crystals (space group P31c, Z=2), grown at the Laboratory of Magnetic Radio Spectroscopy at Kazan’ State University, have been investigated in detail. The spectrum is described by a trigonal spin Hamiltonian with the following parameters: B 20=40.072×10−4 cm−1, B 40=−5.799×10−4 cm−1, B 43=−4.281×10−4 cm−1, A s=24.33±1, A p=6.13±1, g =g =2.00217±0.0003. A theoretical calculation of the hyperfine structure parameters shows that they are described quite well when allowance is made for the overlapping of the wave functions of the paramagnetic center and the ligands (F). We study phenomenon of electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) in the Hanle configuration by applying a perturbative method to solve linear system of optical Bloch equations (OBEs) for the case of closed F g = 1 → F e = 2 transition. The method is applied assuming stationary case and a weak laser fields (Ω ≪ Γ, i.e., Rabi frequency small compared to spontaneous emission rate). This way, we calculate (both numerically and analytically) higher order corrections to density matrix. Odd corrections give contributions to optical coherences, while even corrections contribute to populations and Zeeman coherences. The method gives insight into mechanism of transfer of coherences and transfer of populations between Zeeman sublevels. We have found that the ground-state coherences (2nd correction to coherences) are crucial for the 4th correction to the change of populations which brings EIA type behavior of the Hanle spectrum. Using exact analytical expressions we further discuss further the role of decoherence of the ground-state sublevels when forming EIA.  相似文献

g =4→Fe =5 transition. As the detuning becomes larger, the equilibrium temperature becomes lower. When the detuning is larger than 150 MHz, the influence of the Fg=4→Fe =4 transition also becomes significant. We show our numerical analysis of polarization gradient cooling, taking into account actual sublevels of the ground state and two excited states. We conclude that it is preferable to use a detuning of greater than 180 MHz, to get both a high deceleration and low equilibrium temperature. Results of spectroscopic investigations into plasma of a pulse-periodic strontium vapor laser operating in the superradiance mode on the infrared transition at λ = 6.45 μm are presented. The method of determining the electron temperature and concentration as well as the gas temperature – T e , n e , and T g – based on measuring the absolute intensities of some SrI and SrII and buffer gas (helium or neon) spectral lines is used. Time dependences of the line intensities during a current pulse (τ = 150 ns) and near afterglow (up to 3 μs) are obtained under conditions of non-equilibrium plasma ionization and recombination. The optical system collects radiation from the entire length of the plasma column by means of separating radial volume zones, includingthe central zone and the zone closer to the walls, with the monochromator slit. The results obtained allow us not only to calculate T e , n e , and T g values, but also to trace the spatiotemporal plasma evolution.  相似文献

We have studied the nonstationary effects in saturated absorption spectroscopy of the 87Rb D2 line. Varying the size of the σ+ polarized pump laser beam, we observed saturated absorption spectra for the σ± polarized probe beam. For equal polarizations of the pump and probe beams, we found that the resonance signal for the Fg = 1 → Fe = 2 line, and the crossover lines between Fg = 1 → Fe = 2 and Fg = 1 → Fe = 1 (and 0) lines increased to a greater extent than the others. This observation can be understood from the calculated time evolution of the populations of the ground-state sublevels by means of a rate equation model. We also compared experimental data for other conditions with the calculated results. We found good agreement between the calculated results and the data.  相似文献

The evolution of the radio-frequency magnetic resonance spectrum of optically oriented potassium atoms in terrestrial magnetic fields as a function of the amplitude of the alternating magnetic field H 1 is investigated theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that among the set of observed n-quantum resonances which satisfy the selection rules ΔF=0 and Δm F±n (n is an integer), there is one resonance with the highest multiplicity n=4 (m F=2⇔m F=−2), which has exceptional properties. These qualities make this resonance a candidate for use in a weak-field quantum magnetometer with record-high characteristics. The characteristic features of microwave (30–120 GHz) magnetoabsorption in the magnetic Kondo lattice of CeB6 at liquid-helium temperatures in strong magnetic fields are investigated. It is discovered that the absorption structure is the result of the superposition of the ESR of the cerium 4 f electrons, which has a pronounced doublet structure, and features whose position does not depend on the radiation frequency and which are associated with transitions in the magnetic phase diagram of CeB6. The character of the absorption in the vicinity of the ESR can be linked to the splitting of the 2 F 5/2 state in the crystal field; here the g factor is substantially renormalized from g=2.06±0.03 to g=1.83±0.03 as the temperature decreases from 4.2 K to 1.8 K, respectively. An exact relation for the realization-averaged effective conductivities in the fractal region is found for two-dimensional randomly inhomogeneous media. It has the form {σ e (τ,L)~× {1/σ e (−τ,L)~−1=σ e 2 (τ=0, Lξ), where ξ is the correlation length (the self-averaging scale), L is the size of the system, τ=(p-p c )/p c , and p c is the percolation threshold. For Lξ, the system is self-averaged, and the relation transforms into the Dykhne reciprocity relation, A. M. Dykhne, Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 59, 110 (1970) [Sov. Phys. This paper has observed linewidth narrowing of dark states in rubidium cell by using the Hanle configuration. The reduction of the coherent resonance width under the transition of ^87Rb Fg = 1 → Fe = 0 is observed and the qualitative explanation about its mechanism is presented. Multiple subnatural width dips are obtained with a linearly polarized laser beam for the transitions of ^87Rb Fg = 1→Fe = 0, 1, 2. The feature of negative and positive slope, namely dispersionlike feature, is observed in the transmitted light.  相似文献

We have recorded and investigated the ESR spectrum of vanadium-doped α-RbTiOPO4 single crystals in the temperature interval 77–300 K. Two types of structurally distinct centers, V1 and V2, with a 4:1 ratio of the peak intensities were observed. The angular dependences of the resonance magnetic fields are described by a spin Hamiltonian corresponding to axial symmetry with the parameters g ∥1=1.9305, g ⊥1=1.9565, A ∥1=−168.2×10−4cm−1, and A ⊥1=−54.3×10−4cm−1 for V1 centers and g ∥2=1.9340, g ⊥2=1.9523, A ∥2=−169.0×10−4cm−1, and A ⊥2=−55.2×10−4cm−1 for V2 centers. A model of a paramagnetic center is proposed: The vanadium ions replace titanium ions in two structurally distinct positions Ti1 and Ti2 (V1 and V2 centers, respectively). The possibility that a VO2+ ion forms when α-RbTiOPO4 crystals and crystals of the KTP group (KTiOPO4, NaTiOPO4, α-and β-LiTiOPO4), studied earlier, are doped with vanadium is discussed. Fiz. Tverd. Photoacoustic spectroscopy of iodine molecule has been studied in gas phase using nitrogen laser-pumped tunable dye laser. The experiment yielded the vibrational spectrum corresponding toX 1Σ+(0 g + )→B 3Π(0 g + ) transition up to the convergence limit. The photo-acoustic spectrum in the region 17580–18850 cm−1 is presented along with the vibrational analysis. Five of the vibrational bands reported earlier by Venkateswarlu, Kumar and McGlynn have been partially resolved and the structure of one of them has been analyzed and shown to be due to an overlap of (14, 2) and (12, 1) bands. The analysis was based on a comparison with the highly resolved spectrum of Gerstenkorn and Luc. The structure observed in the region 20200–20750 cm−1 which is beyond the convergence limit of the transitionX 1Σ+(0 g + )→B 3Π(0 u + ) has been analyzed as due to two-photon absorption. Most of the bands could be assigned to two transitions both originating in the ground state and terminating in two different electronic states 1 g andE(0 g + ), atT e=40821 cm−1 (orT 0=41355 cm−1) andT e=41411 cm−1 (orT 0=41355 cm−1) respectively.  相似文献

Using the u-plane integral of Moore and Witten, we derive a simple expression for the Donaldson invariants of product ruled surfaces Σ g ×S 2, where Σ g is a Riemann surface of genus g. This expression generalizes a theorem of Morgan and Szabó for g=1 to any genus g. We give two applications of our results: (1) We derive Thaddeus' formulae for the intersection pairings on the moduli space of rank two stable bundles over a Riemann surface. An extremely thin cell (ETC) with the thickness of a Rb atomic vapor layer in the range of 100–300 nm was fabricated. It is demonstrated that a simple laser-diode technique with a single resonant light beam is sufficient to observe separately all of the atomic hyperfine transitions of the D 2 line of Rb (780 nm) and also allows us to measure the relative transition probabilities of the hyperfine transitions. The onset of collisional self-broadening of the hyperfine transitions as the number density of atoms increases was studied. The detrimental role of the atoms with slow longitudinal velocity in the sub-Doppler response of the Rb ETC is demonstrated by studies in which the cell is tilted from normal incidence of the laser beam. It is also shown that using an ETC allows us to resolve in a moderate external magnetic field the Zeeman splitting of the hyperfine transitions of the 87Rb D 1 transition F g=1F e=1,2. Electron paramagnetic resonance investigation of the Cu(II) complexes with guanosine-5′-monophosphate (5′-GMP) and cytidine-5′-monophosphate (5′-CMP) shows the affinity of the Cu(II) ion to interact with the base and the phosphate group. The different modes of the coordination of the metal ion at the nucleotide and the water molecules lead to octahedral species, distorted by dynamical Jahn-Teller effect (g0 = 2.106) for the Cu(II)-5′-CMP complex and rhombically distorted (g1 = 2.358, g2 = 2.126, g3 = 2.068) or tetragonally distorted (g = 2.299, g = 2.126) for the Cu(II)-5′ -GMP complex. The compound with 5′-CMP presents also a more stable in time square-planar species (g = 2.265, A = 162 G, g = 2.076). The local symmetry changes in aqueous solution by coordination of water molecules.  相似文献
