We have proposed the mathematical formulations of quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects at non-zero temperature on vibrational population transfer and dissociation of a diatomic system. The proposed formulation has been tested for diatomic systems HBr+ and HI using time-dependent Fourier grid Hamiltonian method. The effect of temperature on the dynamics is incorporated through the population distribution at different vibrational states following Boltzmann distribution formula. It has been found that with increase in temperature Zeno effect increases and anti-Zeno effect decreases in case of survival probability on ground vibrational state. In case of dissociation, with increase in temperature Zeno effect increases while anti-Zeno effect remains almost same.  相似文献

Using numerical calculations, we compare the transition probabilities of many spins in random magnetic fields, subject to either frequent projective measurements, frequent phase modulations, or a mix of modulations and measurements. For various distribution functions, we find the transition probability under frequent modulations is suppressed most if the pulse delay is short and the evolution time is larger than a critical value. Furthermore, decay freezing occurs only under frequent modulations as the pulse delay approaches zero. In the large pulse-delay region, however, the transition probabilities under frequent modulations are highest among the three control methods.  相似文献

Starting from the assumption that rod cells are sensitive to single photons, we propose a method to verify the existence of a quantum superposition in the retina, observing the Rabi oscillations in the quantum interaction of a coherent laser light with the rod cells. The computer simulation shows that the oscillations visibility is a robust parameter, so that it would be possible to observe the fringes also in presence of strong decoherence. The feasibility of the experiment is ensured by the new MEA (microelectrode array) technology, that allows to record the transretinal voltage change of a single retinal segment.  相似文献

Surface diffusion of interacting adsorbates is here analyzed within the context of two fundamental phenomena of quantum dynamics, namely the quantum Zeno effect and the anti-Zeno effect. The physical implications of these effects are introduced here in a rather simple and general manner within the framework of non-selective measurements and for two (surface) temperature regimes: high and very low (including zero temperature). The quantum intermediate scattering function describing the adsorbate diffusion process is then evaluated for flat surfaces, since it is fully analytical in this case. Finally, a generalization to corrugated surfaces is also discussed. In this regard, it is found that, considering a Markovian framework and high surface temperatures, the anti-Zeno effect has already been observed, though not recognized as such.  相似文献

We propose a strategy to demonstrate the transition from the quantum Zeno effect (QZE) to the anti-Zeno effect (AZE) using a superconducting qubit coupled to a transmission line cavity, by varying the central frequency of the cavity mode. Our results are obtained without the rotating wave approximation (RWA), and the initial state (a dressed state) is easy to prepare. Moreover, we find that in the presence of both qubit?s intrinsic bath and the cavity bath, the emergence of the QZE and the AZE behaviors relies not only on the match between the qubit energy-level-spacing and the central frequency of the cavity mode, but also on the coupling strength between the qubit and the cavity mode.  相似文献

A treatment is given of classical Brownian motion in phase space based on path summation. It treats efficiently the usual exactly solvable cases when the external force is linear in momentum or position. The method might be useful for generating approximations for more complicated external forces. A path sum formalism is given to generate the Wigner propagator in the Wigner-Weyl phase space formulation of quantum mechanics. With this work we elaborate on the physics of quantum noise in thermal equilibrium and in stationary nonequilibrium. Starting out from the celebrated quantum fluctuation-dissipation theorem we discuss some important consequences that must hold for open, dissipative quantum systems in thermal equilibrium. The issue of quantum dissipation is exemplified with the fundamental problem of a damped harmonic quantum oscillator. The role of quantum fluctuations is discussed in the context of both, the nonlinear generalized quantum Langevin equation and the path integral approach. We discuss the consequences of the time-reversal symmetry for an open dissipative quantum dynamics and, furthermore, point to a series of subtleties and possible pitfalls. The path integral methodology is applied to the decay of metastable states assisted by quantum Brownian noise.  相似文献

We investigate the entanglement properties of the joint state of a distinguished quantum system and its environment in the quantum Brownian motion model. This model is a frequent starting point for investigations of environment-induced superselection. Using recent methods from quantum information theory, we show that there exists a large class of initial states for which no entanglement will be created at all times between the system of salient interest and the environment. If the distinguished system has been initially prepared in a pure Gaussian state, then entanglement is created immediately, regardless of the temperature of the environment and the nonvanishing coupling.  相似文献

The decay dynamics of a local excitation interacting with a non-Markovian environment, modeled by a semi-infinite tight-binding chain, is exactly evaluated. We identify distinctive regimes for the dynamics. Sequentially: (i) early quadratic decay of the initial-state survival probability, up to a spreading time tS, (ii) exponential decay described by a self-consistent Fermi Golden Rule, and (iii) asymptotic behavior governed by quantum diffusion through the return processes, leading to an inverse power law decay. At this last cross-over time tR a survival collapse becomes possible. This could reduce the survival probability by several orders of magnitude. The cross-over times tS and tR allow to assess the range of applicability of the Fermi Golden Rule and give the conditions for the observation of the Zeno and anti-Zeno effect.  相似文献

It is well known that the quantum Zeno effect can protect specific quantum states from decoherence by using projective measurements. Here we combine the theory of weak measurements with stabilizer quantum error correction and detection codes. We derive rigorous performance bounds which demonstrate that the Zeno effect can be used to protect appropriately encoded arbitrary states to arbitrary accuracy while at the same time allowing for universal quantum computation or quantum control.  相似文献

The decoherence of a harmonic oscillator under two-dimensional quantum Brownian motion on a noncommutative plane is investigated. The interaction with the environment is considered by two separate models so-called coupled and uncoupled. The two-dimensional master equation and its noncommutative counterpart are derived for both employed models. The rate of the linear entropy (predictability sieve) is chosen as a criterion to investigate the purity in the presence of the space noncommutativity. Besides, a two-dimensional charged harmonic oscillator on a plane which is imposed by a perpendicular magnetic field is introduced as a realization of our model. Therefore, our approach provides a formalism to investigate the influence of the magnetic field on the decoherence of the pure states. We show that in the high magnetic field limit the rate of the decoherence will be decreased.  相似文献

We derive and solve analytically the non-Markovian master equation for harmonic quantum Brownian motion proving that, for weak system-reservoir couplings and high temperatures, it can be recast in the form of the master equation for a harmonic oscillator interacting with a squeezed thermal bath. This equivalence guarantees preservation of positivity of the density operator during the time evolution and allows one to establish a connection between the dynamics of Schrödinger cat states in squeezed environments and environment-induced decoherence in quantum Brownian motion.

In this paper, we formulate limit Zeno dynamics of general open systems as the adiabatic elimination of fast components. We are able to exploit previous work on adiabatic elimination of quantum stochastic models to give explicitly the conditions under which open Zeno dynamics will exist. The open systems formulation is further developed as a framework for Zeno master equations, and Zeno filtering (that is, quantum trajectories based on a limit Zeno dynamical model). We discuss several models from the point of view of quantum control. For the case of linear quantum stochastic systems, we present a condition for stability of the asymptotic Zeno dynamics.  相似文献
