We discuss a few supersymmetric quantum mechanical models in one, two and three dimensions. In the case of one particle in both two and three dimensions we present some examples where supersymmetry is unbroken and the ground state is many-fold degenerate. Further, we consider the supersymmetric generalization of the nearest neighbour XY model and show that supersymmetry remains unbroken in this case.  相似文献

After a summary of the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics in phase space we apply the Moshinsky-Winternitz classification of the time-independent quadratic Hamiltonians in one and two dimensions to give the explicit form of the phase-space propagators, and make some comments on their spectra.  相似文献

We present an approach to the computation of the non-abelian statistics of quasiholes in quantum Hall states, such as the Pfaffian state, whose wavefunctions are related to the conformal blocks of minimal model conformal field theories. We use the Coulomb gas construction of these conformal field theories to formulate a plasma analogy for the quantum Hall states. A number of properties of the Pfaffian state follow immediately, including the Berry phases, which demonstrate the quasiholes' fractional charge, the abelian statistics of the two-quasihole state, and equal-time ground state correlation functions. The non-abelian statistics of multi-quasihole states follows from an additional assumption.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to construct the most prominent Abelian and non-Abelian fractional quantum Hall states from K-component Halperin wave functions. In order to account for a one-component quantum Hall system, these SU(K) colors are distributed over all particles by an appropriate symmetrization. Numerical calculations corroborate the picture that K-component Halperin wave functions may be a common basis for both Abelian and non-Abelian trial wave functions in the study of one-component quantum Hall systems.  相似文献

Effects of backward scattering between fractional quantum Hall (FQH) edge modes are studied. Based on the edge-state picture for hierarchical FQH liquids, we discuss the possibility of the transitions between different plateaux of the tunneling conductance G. We find a selection rule for the sequence which begins with a conductance (m: integer, p: even integer) in units of e 2/h. The shot-noise spectrum as well as the scaling behavior of the tunneling current is calculated explicitly. Received 5 October 1999 and Received in final form 19 November 1999  相似文献

We find that Kondo resonant conductance can occur in a quantum dot in the Coulomb blockade regime with an even number of electrons N. The contacts are attached to the dot in a pillar configuration, and a magnetic field B( perpendicular) along the axis is applied. B( perpendicular) lifts the spin degeneracy of the dot energies. Usually, this prevents the system from developing the Kondo effect. Tuning B( perpendicular) to the value B(*) where levels with different total spin cross restores both the degeneracy and the Kondo effect. We analyze a dot charged with N = 2 electrons. Coupling to the contacts is antiferromagnetic due to a spin selection rule and, in the Kondo state, the charge is unchanged while the total spin on the dot is S = 1/2.  相似文献

The quasiparticle propagator of the Haldane-Rezayi (HR) fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state is calculated, based on a chiral fermion model (or a Weyl fermion model) equipped with a hidden spin SU(2) symmetry. The spectrum of the chiral fermion model for each total spin and total momentum is shown to be identical to that of the SU(2) c = −2 model introduced to describe the edge spectrum of the HR state.  相似文献

We report current transmission data through a split-gate constriction fabricated onto a two-dimensional electron system in the integer quantum Hall (QH) regime. Split-gate biasing drives interedge backscattering and is shown to lead to suppressed or enhanced transmission, in marked contrast to the expected linear Fermi-liquid behavior. This evolution is described in terms of particle-hole symmetry and allows us to conclude that an unexpected class of gate-controlled particle-hole-symmetric chiral Luttinger liquids (CLLs) can exist at the edges of our QH circuit. These results highlight the role of particle-hole symmetry on the properties of CLL edge states.  相似文献

We use exact diagonalization to determine the spectrum of reduced Hamiltonians based on renormalization group flows to strong coupling. For the half-filled two-leg Hubbard ladder we reproduce the known insulating d-Mott ground state with spin and charge gaps. For the saddle point regions of the two-dimensional Hubbard model near half filling we find a crossover to a similar strong coupling state, which truncates the Fermi surface near the saddle points. At lower scales d-wave superconductivity appears on the remaining Fermi surface.  相似文献
