Under the condition that the Bakry–Emery Ricci curvature is bounded from below, we prove a probabilistic representation formula of the Riesz transforms associated with a symmetric diffusion operator on a complete Riemannian manifold. Using the Burkholder sharp L p -inequality for martingale transforms, we obtain an explicit and dimension-free upper bound of the L p -norm of the Riesz transforms on such complete Riemannian manifolds for all 1 < p < ∞. In the Euclidean and the Gaussian cases, our upper bound is asymptotically sharp when p→ 1 and when p→ ∞. A highly celebrated problem in dyadic harmonic analysis is the pointwise convergence of the Fejér (or (C, 1)) means of functions on unbounded Vilenkin groups. There are several papers of the author of this paper concerning this. That is, we know the a.e. convergence σ n ff (n → ∞) for functions fL p , where p > 1 (Journal of Approximation Theory, 101(1), 1–36, (1999)) and also the a.e. convergence σM n ff (n → ∞) for functions fL 1 (Journal of Approximation Theory, 124(1), 25–43, (2003)). The aim of this paper is to prove the a.e. relation lim n → σ n f = f for each integrable function f on any rarely unbounded Vilenkin group. The concept of the rarely unbounded Vilenkin group is discussed in the paper. Basically, it means that the generating sequence m may be an unbounded one, but its "big elements" are not "too dense". Let X be a symmetric stable process of index α∈ (1,2] and let L x t denote the local time at time t and position x. Let V(t) be such that L t V(t) = sup x∈ L t x . We call V(t) the most visited site of X up to time t. We prove the transience of V, that is, lim t →∞ |V(t)| = ∞ almost surely. An estimate is given concerning the rate of escape of V. The result extends a well-known theorem of Bass and Griffin for Brownian motion. Our approach is based upon an extension of the Ray–Knight theorem for symmetric Markov processes, and relates stable local times to fractional Brownian motion and further to the winding problem for planar Brownian motion. The existence of positive radial solutions of the equation -din( |Du|p-2Du)=f(u) is studied in annular domains in Rn,n≥2. It is proved that if f(0)≥0, f is somewherenegative in (0,∞), limu→0^ f‘ (u)=0 and limu→∞ (f(u)/u^p-1)=∞, then there is alarge positive radial solution on all annuli. If f(0)≤0 and satisfies certain conditions, then the equation has no radial solution if the annuli are too wide.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear Sturm–Liouville problem

To understand well the global behavior of the bifurcation branch in R + × L 2(I), we establish the precise asymptotic formula for λ(α), which is associated with eigenfunction u α with ‖ u α2 = α, as α → ∞. It is shown that if for some constant p > 1 the function h(u) ≔ f(u)/u p satisfies adequate assumptions, including a slow growth at ∞, then λ(α) ∼ α p−1 h(α) as α → ∞ and the second term of λ(α) as α → ∞ is determined by lim u → ∞ uh′(u). In case when distribution tails of X j admit regularly varying majorants or minorants we find sharp estimates for the mentioned above probabilities under study. We prove the convergence inL 1([−gp, π)2)-norm of the double Fourier series of an integrable functionf(x, y) which is periodic and even with respect tox andy, with coefficientsa jk satisfying certain conditions of Hardy-Karamata kind, and such thata jk logj logk→0 asj, k→∞. These sufficient conditions become quite natural in particular cases. Then we extend these results to the convergence of double Walsh-Fourier series inL 1 (0, 1)2)- norm. As a by-product, we obtain Tauberian conditions ensuring the convergence of a double numerical series provided it is Cesàro summable. We prove dimension free L L -estimates for the Riesz transform T = V L −1, L = −Δ + V, where Δ is the Laplacian in ℝ d , and the polynomial V ≥ 0 satisfies C. L. Fefferman conditions; see [7]. Let fL w 1 [−1, 1], let r n,m(f) be the best rational L w 1 -approximation for f with respect to real rational functions of degree at most n in the numerator and of degree at most m in the denominator, let m = m(n), and let lim n → ∞ (n-m(n)) = ∞. In this case, we show that the counting measures of certain subsets of sign changes of f-r n,m (f) converge weakly to the equilibrium measure on [−1, 1] as n → ∞. Moreover, we prove estimates for discrepancy between these counting measures and the equilibrium measure. Using elementary comparison geometry, we prove: Let (M, g) be a simply-connected complete Riemannian manifold of dimension ≥ 3. Suppose that the sectional curvature K satisfies −1 − s(r) ≤ K ≤ −1, where r denotes distance to a fixed point in M. If lim r → ∞ e2r s(r) = 0, then (M, g) has to be isometric to ℍ n . The same proof also yields that if K satisfies −s(r) ≤ K ≤ 0 where lim r → ∞ r 2 s(r) = 0, then (M, g) is isometric to ℝ n , a result due to Greene and Wu. We use microlocal and paradifferential techniques to obtain L 8 norm bounds for spectral clusters associated with elliptic second-order operators on two-dimensional manifolds with boundary. The result leads to optimal L q bounds, in the range 2⩽q⩽∞, for L 2 - normalized spectral clusters on bounded domains in the plane and, more generally, for two-dimensional compact manifolds with boundary. We also establish new sharp L q estimates in higher dimensions for a range of exponents q̅nq⩽∞.
