We study the asymptotic invertibility as of matrices of the form and , where a and b are functions defined on the sets . The joint asymptotic behavior of the spectrum of these matrices is analyzed.     

An Application of U(g)-bimodules to Representation Theory of Affine Lie Algebras

Let be the affine Lie algebra associated to the simple finite-dimensional Lie algebra . We consider the tensor product of the loop -module associated to the irreducible finite-dimensional -module V() and the irreducible highest weight -module L _k,. Then L _k, can be viewed as an irreducible module for the vertex operator algebra M _k,0. Let A(L _k,) be the corresponding -bimodule. We prove that if the -module is zero, then the -module is irreducible. As an example, we apply this result on integrable representations for affine Lie algebras.

In this paper, we show that imprimitive -polynomial association schemes with are either dual bipartite or dual antipodal, i.e., dual intersection numbers satisfy either .     

Second-Order Subexponential Behavior of Subordinated Sequences

Suppose that , , and are three discrete probability distributions related by the equation (E): , where denotes the k-fold convolution of In this paper, we investigate the relation between the asymptotic behaviors of and . It turns out that, for wide classes of sequences and , relation (E) implies that , where is the mean of . The main object of this paper is to discuss the rate of convergence in this result. In our main results, we obtain O-estimates and exact asymptotic estimates for the difference .     

Decomposition Numbers and Canonical Bases

We obtain some simple relations between decomposition numbers of quantized Schur algebras at an nth root of unity (over a field of characteristic 0). These relations imply that every decomposition number for such an algebra occurs as a decomposition number for some Hecke algebra of type A. We prove similar relations between coefficients of the canonical basis of the q-deformed Fock space representation of . It follows that these coefficients can all be expressed in terms of those of the global crystal basis of the irreducible subrepresentation generated by the vacuum vector. As a consequence, using the works of Ariki and Varagnolo and Vasserot, it is possible to give a new proof of Lusztig"s character formula for the simple U _v (sl _r )-modules at roots of unity, which does not involve representations of of negative level.

Efficient Estimation in a Semiparametric Autoregressive Model

This paper constructs efficient estimates of the parameter in the semiparametric auto-regression model ,with a smooth function and independent and identically distributed innovations _t with zero means and finite variances. This will be done under the assumptions that and that the errors have a density with finite Fisher information for location. The former condition guarantees that the process can be chosen to be stationary and ergodic.     

On the dimension of the cartesian product of relations and orders

It is known that for incidence structures and , max , wheref dim stands for Ferrers relation. We shall show that under additional assumptions on and , both bounds can be improved. Especially it will be shown that the square of a three-dimensional ordered set is at least four-dimensional.     

Determinantal Inequalities for Accretive-Dissipative Matrices

A matrix is said to be accretive-dissipative if, in its Hermitian decomposition , both matrices B and C are positive definite. Further, if B= I _n, then A is called a Buckley matrix. The following extension of the classical Fischer inequality for Hermitian positive-definite matrices is proved. Let be an accretive-dissipative matrix, k and l be the orders of A ₁₁ and A ₂₂, respectively, and let m = min{k,l}. Then For Buckley matrices, the stronger bound is obtained. The First-Order Nonholonomic Connections with the Galilean Groups of Local Transformations. II

In the canonical smooth fiber bundles endowed with the metric tensor fields of relevant structure, we consider natural representations of the Galilean groups and construct -invariant generalizations of differentiable connections. In both regular and special cases of the representations of the relevant groups , we found all the affine nonholonomic -, -, and -connections of the first order (see [1]–[3]) possessing the local Lie groups of transformations and also described the respective -invariant planar connections.

Characterization of Normal Traces on Von Neumann Algebras by Inequalities for the Modulus

It is proved that if a normal semifinite weight on a von Neumann algebra satisfies the inequality for any selfadjoint operators in , then this weight is a trace. Several similar characterizations of traces among the normal semifinite weights are proved. In particular, Gardner's result on the characterization of traces by the inequality is refined and reinforced.

Light paths with an odd number of vertices in polyhedral maps

Let P _k be a path on k vertices. In an earlier paper we have proved that each polyhedral map G on any compact 2-manifold with Euler characteristic contains a path P _k such that each vertex of this path has, in G, degree . Moreover, this bound is attained for k = 1 or k 2, k even. In this paper we prove that for each odd , this bound is the best possible on infinitely many compact 2-manifolds, but on infinitely many other compact 2-manifolds the upper bound can be lowered to .
