The first numerical simulations are presented for type-III solar radio bursts in the inhomogeneous solar corona and interplanetary space, that include microscale quasilinear and nonlinear processes, intermediate-scale driven ambient density fluctuations, and large scale evolution of electron beams, Langmuir and ion sound waves, and fundamental and harmonic electromagnetic emission. Bidirectional coronal emission is asymmetric between the upward and downward directions, and harmonic emission dominates fundamental emission. In interplanetary space, fundamental and/or harmonic emission can be important. Langmuir and ion sound waves are bursty and the statistics of Langmuir wave energy agree well with the predictions of stochastic growth theory.  相似文献

The problem of short-wave radio-signal reflection from a parabolic ionospheric layer with traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) in the form of density waves is solved in an approximation of geometrical optics. Formulas that relate the arrival angle and Doppler shift of a radio signal to the TID parameters are derived by the small-perturbation method for the characteristic function. The inverse problem of determination of the TID spectral characteristics is solved. The amplitude, dispersion law, and propagation direction of ionospheric irregularitiesare restored.  相似文献

We present the results of the studies of fractal properties of the small-scale inhomogeneities of traveling ionospheric disturbances in special experiments on radio-raying of the midlatitude ionosphere by signals from orbital satellites in 2004–2006. Along with the conventional correlation processing of the received signals, we performed their multifractal analysis, as well as fractal processing of signals by the correlation-integral method. Important information on fractal properties of the small-scale turbulence for the least studied part of the upper-ionosphere inhomogeneity spectrum in the interval of characteristic scales l ≈ 1–10 km is obtained. In particular, it is noted that the fractal structure of these inhomogeneities can be originated from the nonlinear “destruction” of several large-scale sinusoidal structures in a quasistable traveling disturbance. It is also noted that the multifractal spectra of amplitude fluctuations of the received signals obtained in the experiments in different years, in different time of the day, and in different seasons of the observations are quite similar. We report on the results of the first special experiment on radio sounding of the midlatitude ionosphere by signals from in-orbit satellites at a frequency of 150 MHz under quiet geophysical conditions. Along with the conventional correlation processing, fractal processing of the received signals was also performed. Using the fractal approach, we obtained first data on the sources and generation mechanisms of small-scale plasma inhomogeneities of the traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) in the upper ionosphere. The role of nitric oxide (NO) in the ionospheric effects during geomagnetic storm on May 1–3, 2010, is examined. The studies are performed using a global self-consistent model of the thermosphere, ionosphere and protonosphere (GSM TIP). Two versions of calculations are used: (1) based on an analytical approximation of the NO concentration and (2) self-consistent calculation of the global distribution of nitric oxide over the ionosphere. It is shown that, during a geomagnetic disturbance, the NO concentration at high latitudes shows an increase, which under the influence of the horizontal circulation of neutral gas leads to an increase in the concentration of NO at mid-latitudes ~1 day after the start of the perturbation. Simulated values of foF2 are compared to experimental data obtained at a number of Russian mid-latitude stations. It is noted that the self-consistent calculations of the NO concentration better describes the spatial-temporal behavior of ionospheric parameters during geomagnetic storms.  相似文献

We present the results of analysis of the data of vertical ionospheric sounding at the Zimenki test site (Nizhny Novgorod). The January and July ionograms are used to plot the dependences of the number of “sickle” type disturbances on the time of the day for the period from 1996 to 1992. A comparison with the scattering in an ionospheric F-layer for the same period is performed. A trend in the time series of the phenomenon observed is recorded. The dynamics of a damped pendulum with a quasiperiodic external perturbation is investigated. It is shown that in contrast to a pendulum with a periodic perturbation, a quasiperiodic perturbation leads to chaos in the weakly nonlinear limit when the peak-to-peak amplitude of the oscillations of the pendulum is small. This effect is attributed to the appearance of saddle states induced by the external perturbation. The analytical conditions for the appearance of chaotic oscillations are obtained by the method of running Lyapunov exponents and by the repeated-averaging technique. Zh. Tekh. Considering a family of three-dimensional oscillators originating in the field of radio-engineering, the paper describes three different mechanisms of torus formation. The results of an experimental study of quasi-periodic variations of the Doppler shift (DS) of decimeter-wave signals scattered by artificial ionospheric turbulence are presented. It is suggested that ionospheric MHD waves of natural origin are a possible cause of such variations. The major morphological features of the global structure and longitudinal variations of the electron content distribution in the ionosphere–protonosphere system during the winter solstice for the solar activity minimum in 2009 are examined. It is demonstrated how the Weddell Sea anomaly and the longitudinal structure of the main ionospheric trough (depression in the concentration of light ions) manifest themselves through the total, ionospheric, and protonospheric electron contents. Based on model calculations, the specific features of longitudinal variations in the O+/H+ transition altitude are for the first time considered, which made it possible to estimate the altitude of the transition boundary from the ionosphere to the plasmasphere (protonosphere) for the selected conditions.  相似文献

We analyze the form of the response of an HF radio signal scattered by the nonstationary disturbances of the electron density Ne caused by acoustic shock-wave disturbances in the upper atmosphere from rockets in the active section of the trajectory. We perform numerical and analytical studies of MHD phenomena within the framework of a one-dimensional model of the magnetosphere bounded by conjugate reflection surfaces. Specific features of the nonlinear transformation of an Alfvén wave into a slow magnetosonic one upon propagation along the magnetic fieldB 0 are considered. Effects of reflection of a nonlinear magnetospheric wave from magnetically conjugate ionospheres are analyzed in detail. It is shown that the main effect for the case of a nonlinear Alfvén wave in a low-temperature plasma is the plasma sweeping off the volumes close to the reflecting boundaries. Numerical results which demonstrate the generation dynamics of the slow magnetosonic wave and plasma sweeping upon reflection of a powerful Alfvén wave from the ionosphere are in qualitative agreement with the analytical estimates. In a cold plasma, the effect is so significant that it requires a numerical study even if the initial Alfvén wave is linear. An experimental statistical dependence is obtained between the intensity of the x-ray radiation of the sun in the range 1–8 å (I1–8) and the value of the anomalous absorption of radio waves at a frequency of I=13 MHz during periods of sudden ionospheric disturbances. This dependence has the form 13 I 1–8 0.8 cos , and can be used for the operative classification of bursts of x-ray radiation.
