In this paper, we theoretically explore the motivation and behaviors of the excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction for a novel white organic light‐emitting diode (WOLED) material 4‐tert‐butyl‐2‐(5‐(5‐tert‐butyl‐2‐methoxyphenyl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazol‐2‐yl)‐phenol (t‐MTTH). The “atoms in molecules” (AIM) method is adopted to verify the formation and existence of the hydrogen bond O? H···N. By analyzing the excited‐state hydrogen bonding behaviors via changes in the chemical bonding and infrared (IR) vibrational spectra, we confirm that the intramolecular hydrogen bond O? H···N should be getting strengthened in the first excited state in four kinds of solvents, thus revealing the tendency of ESIPT reaction. Further, the role of charge‐transfer interaction is addressed under the frontier molecular orbitals (MOs), which depicts the nature of the electronic excited state and supports the ESIPT reaction. Also, the electron distribution confirms the ESIPT tendency once again. The scanned and optimized potential energy curves according to variational O? H coordinate in the solvents demonstrate that the proton transfer reaction should occur in the S1 state, and the potential energy barriers along with ESIPT direction support this reaction. Based on the excited‐state behaviors reported in this work, the experimental spectral phenomenon has been reasonably explained.  相似文献

Given the tremendous potential of fluorescence sensors in recent years, in this present work, we theoretically explore a novel fluorescence chemosensor [2‐(2‐Hydroxy‐phenyl)‐1H‐benzoimidazol‐5‐yl]‐phenyl‐methanone (HBPM) about its excited state behaviors and probe‐response mechanism. Using density functional theory (DFT) and time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) methods, we explore the S0‐state and S1‐state hydrogen bond dynamical behaviors and confirm that the strengthening intramolecular hydrogen bond in the S1 state may promote the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction. In view of the photoexcitation process, we find that the charge redistribution around the hydroxyl moiety plays important roles in providing driving force for ESIPT. And the constructed potential energy curves further verify that the ESIPT process of HBPM should be ultrafast. That is the reason why the normal HBPM fluorescence cannot be detected in previous experiment. Furthermore, with the addition of fluoride anions, the exothermal deprotonation process occurs spontaneously along with the intermolecular hydrogen bond O–H?F. It reveals the uniqueness of detecting fluoride anions using HBPM molecules. As a whole, the fluoride anions inhibit the initial ESIPT process of HBPM, which results in different fluorescence behaviors. This work presents the clear ESIPT process and fluoride anion‐sensing mechanism of a novel HBPM chemosensor.  相似文献

The synthesis, structural, and photophysical properties of a new series of original dyes based on 2‐(2′‐hydroxybenzofuran)benzoxazole (HBBO) is reported. Upon photoexcitation, these dyes exhibit intense dual fluorescence with contribution from the enol (E*) and the keto (K*) emission, with K* being formed through excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT). We show that the ratio of emission intensity E*/K* can be fine‐tuned by judiciously decorating the molecular core with electron‐donating or ‐attracting substituents. Push–pull dyes 9 and 10 functionalized by a strong donor (nNBu2) and a strong acceptor group (CF3 and CN, respectively) exhibit intense dual emission, particularly in apolar solvents such as cyclohexane in which the maximum wavelength of the two bands is the more strongly separated. Moreover, all dyes exhibit strong solid‐state dual emission in a KBr matrix and polymer films with enhanced quantum yields reaching up to 54 %. A wise selection of substituents led to white emission both in solution and in the solid state. Finally, these experimental results were analyzed by time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) calculations, which confirm that, on the one hand, only E* and K* emission are present (no rotamer) and, on the other hand, the relative free energies of the two tautomers in the excited state guide the ratio of the E*/K* emission intensities.  相似文献

Searching for eight‐membered ring π‐conjugated hydrogen bonding (8‐MR H‐bonding) systems with excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) property is seminal and synthetically challenging. In this work, a series of π‐conjugated molecules ( 8‐HB‐1 , 8‐HB‐L1 and 8‐HB‐2 ) potentially possessing 8‐MR H‐bonding are strategically designed, synthesized and characterized. The configurations of these three potential molecules are checked by their X‐ray structures, among which 8‐HB‐L1 (a structurally locked 8‐HB‐1 core chromophore) is proved to be an 8‐MR H‐bonding system, whereas 8‐HB‐1 and 8‐HB‐2 are too sterically hindered to form the 8‐MR intramolecular H‐bond. The ESIPT property of 8‐HB‐L1 is confirmed by the dual fluorescence consisting of normal and proton‐transfer tautomer emissions. The insight into the ESIPT process of 8‐HB‐L1 is provided by femtosecond fluorescence upconversion measurements together with computational simulation. The results demonstrate for the first time a successful synthetic route to attain the 8‐MR H‐bonding molecule 8‐HB‐L1 with ESIPT property.  相似文献

2‐(2‐Hydroxy‐phenyl)‐4(3H)‐quinazolinone (HPQ), an organic fluorescent material that exhibits fluorescence by the excited‐state intramolecular proton‐transfer (ESIPT) mechanism, forms two different polymorphs in tetrahydrofuran. The conformational twist between the phenyl and quinazolinone rings of HPQ leads to different molecular packing in the solid state, giving structures that show solid‐state fluorescence at 497 and 511 nm. HPQ also shows intense fluorescence in dimethyl formamide (DMF) solution and selectively detects Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions at micromolar concentrations in DMF. Importantly, HPQ not only detects Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions selectively, but it also distinguishes between the metal ions with a fluorescence λmax that is blue‐shifted from 497 to 420 and 426 nm for Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions, respectively. Hence, tunable solid‐state fluorescence and selective metal‐ion‐sensor properties were demonstrated in a single organic material.  相似文献

Cyclohexanones 2b and 2c represent the first examples of nonenolizing 2‐acylcyclohex‐2‐enones, as they bear H‐atoms neither at C(4) or C(6) of the enone ring, nor at the C‐atom vicinal to the exocyclic carbonyl group. While the CF3CO group in 2b (and the Ac group in 2a ) are coplanar to the enone double bonds, the pivaloyl group in 2c , for steric reasons, is out of plane. Compounds 2 exhibit a pronounced sluggishness in both thermal and light‐induced bimolecular reactions.  相似文献

In this work, density functional theory (DFT) and time‐dependent DFT (TDDFT) methods were used to investigate the excited‐state dynamics of the excited‐state hydrogen‐bonding variations and proton transfer mechanism for a novel white‐light fluorophore 2‐(4‐[dimethylamino]phenyl)‐7‐hyroxy‐6‐(3‐phenylpropanoyl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐one ( 1 ). The methods we adopted could successfully reproduce the experimental electronic spectra, which shows the appropriateness of the theoretical level in this work. Using molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) as well as the reduced density gradient (RDG) versus the product of the sign of the second largest eigenvalue of the electron density Hessian matrix and electron density (sign[λ2]ρ), we demonstrate that an intramolecular hydrogen bond O1–H2···O3 should be formed spontaneously in the S0 state. By analyzing the chemical structures, infrared vibrational spectra, and hydrogen‐bonding energies, we confirm that O1–H2·O3 should be strengthened in the S1 state, which reveals the possibility of an excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process. On investigating the excitation process, we find the S0 → S1 transition corresponding to the charge transfer, which provides the driving force for ESIPT. By constructing the potential energy curves, we show that the ESIPT reaction results in a dynamic equilibrium in the S1 state between the forward and backward processes, which facilitates the emission of white light.  相似文献

The excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism of a new compound (E )‐1‐((2,2‐diphenylhydrazono)methyl)naphthalen‐2‐ol ( EDMN ) sensor, reported and synthesized by Mukherjee et al . [Sensors Actuat. B‐Chem . 2014, 202 , 1190], is investigated in detail theoretically. The calculations on primary bond lengths, bond angles, and the corresponding infrared (IR) vibrational spectra and hydrogen‐bond energy involved in intramolecular hydrogen bond between the S0 and S1 states confirm that the intramolecular hydrogen bond is strengthened in the S1 state, which reveals the tendency of ESIPT reaction. The fact that the experimental absorption and emission spectra are well reproduced demonstrates the rationality and effectiveness of the time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) level of theory we adopt here. Furthermore, intramolecular charge transfer based on the frontier molecular orbitals (MOs) gives indication of the ESIPT reaction. The constructed potential energy curves of both the S0 and S1 states while keeping the O─H distance of EDMN fixed at a series of values are used to illustrate the ESIPT process. The lower barrier of ~3.934 kcal/mol in the S1 state potential energy curve (lower than the 8.254 kcal/mol in the S0 state) provides the transfer mechanism.  相似文献

In this work, based on density functional theory (DFT) and time‐dependent DFT (TD‐DFT) methods, we theoretically investigate the excited‐state process of the 2‐(6'‐hydroxy‐2'‐pyridyl)benzimidazole (2HPB) system in acetonitrile and water solvents. Since acetonitrile is an aprotic solvent, it has no effect on the solvent‐assisted excited‐state proton transfer (ESPT) process. Therefore, the 2HPB molecule cannot transfer the proton in acetonitrile, which is consistent with previous experimental observation. On the other hand, 2HPB can combine one water molecule (which is a protic solvent), forming the 2HPB–H2O complex in the S0 state. After photoexcitation, the intermolecular hydrogen bonds O1 H2···O3 and O3 H4···N5 both get strengthened in the S1 state, which leads to the possibility of a water‐assisted ESPT process. Further, the charge redistribution reveals the tendency of ESPT. By exploring the potential energy curves for the 2HPB–H2O complex in water, we confirm that a stepwise double proton transfer process occurs in the S1 state. Water‐assisted ESIPT can occur along O1 H2···O3 or O3 H4···N5 because of their similar potential barriers. Based on the stepwise ESPT mechanism, we reinterpret the absorption and fluorescence spectra mentioned in the experiments and confirm the rationality of the water‐assisted ESPT process.  相似文献

Carbon monoxide (CO) has recently been identified as a gaseous signaling molecule that exerts various salutary effects in mammalian pathophysiology. Photoactive metal carbonyl complexes (photoCORMs) are ideal exogenous candidates for more controllable and site‐specific CO delivery compared to gaseous CO. Along this line, our group has been engaged for the past few years in developing group‐7‐based photoCORMs towards the efficient eradication of various malignant cells. Moreover, several such complexes can be tracked within cancerous cells by virtue of their luminescence. The inherent luminecscent nature of some photoCORMs and the change in emission wavelength upon CO release also provide a covenient means to track the entry of the prodrug and, in some cases, both the entry and CO release from the prodrug. In continuation of the research circumscribing the development of trackable photoCORMs and also to graft such molecules covalently to conventional delivery vehicles, we report herein the synthesis and structures of three rhenium carbonyl complexes, namely, fac‐tricarbonyl[2‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)‐1,3‐benzothiazole‐κ2N ,N ′](4‐vinylpyridine‐κN )rhenium(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate, [Re(C7H7N)(C12H8N2S)(CO)3](CF3SO3), ( 1 ), fac‐tricarbonyl[2‐(quinolin‐2‐yl)‐1,3‐benzothiazole‐κ2N ,N ′](4‐vinylpyridine‐κN )rhenium(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate, [Re(C7H7N)(C16H10N2S)(CO)3](CF3SO3), ( 2 ), and fac‐tricarbonyl[1,10‐phenanthroline‐κ2N ,N ′](4‐vinylpyridine‐κN )rhenium(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate, [Re(C7H7N)(C12H8N2)(CO)3](CF3SO3), ( 3 ). In all three complexes, the ReI center resides in a distorted octahedral coordination environment. These complexes exhibit CO release upon exposure to low‐power UV light. The apparent CO release rates of the complexes have been measured to assess their comparative CO‐donating capacity. The three complexes are highly luminescent and this in turn provides a convenient way to track the entry of the prodrug molecules within biological targets.  相似文献

White‐light‐emitting materials with high mobility are necessary for organic white‐light‐emitting transistors, which can be used for self‐driven OLED displays or OLED lighting. In this study, we combined two materials with similar structures—2‐fluorenyl‐2‐anthracene (FlAnt) with blue emission and 2‐anthryl‐2‐anthracence (2A) with greenish‐yellow emission—to fabricate OLED devices, which showed unusual solid‐state white‐light emission with the CIE coordinates (0.33, 0.34) at 10 V. The similar crystal structures ensured that the OTFTs based on mixed FlAnt and 2A showed high mobility of 1.56 cm2 V−1 s−1. This simple method provides new insight into the design of high‐performance white‐emitting transistor materials and structures.  相似文献

Although the organic dyes based on excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism have attracted significant attention, the structure‐property relationship of ESIPT dyes needs to be further exploited. In this paper, three series of ethynyl‐extended regioisomers of 2‐(2′‐hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole (HBT), at the 3′‐, 4′‐ and 6‐positions, respectively, have been synthesized. Changes in the absorption and emission spectra were correlated with the position and electronic nature of the substituent groups. Although 4′‐ and 6‐substituted HBT derivatives exhibited absorption bands at longer wavelengths, the keto‐emission of 3′‐substituted HBT derivatives was found at a substantially longer wavelength. The gradual red‐shifted fluorescence emission was found for 3′‐substituted HBT derivatives where the electron‐donating nature of substituent group increased, which was opposite to what was observed for 4′‐ and 6‐substituted HBT derivatives. The results derived from the theoretical calculations were in conformity with the experimental observations. Our study could potentially provide experimental and theoretical basis for designing novel ESIPT dyes that possess unique fluorescent properties.  相似文献

To investigate the position and amount of the CF3 group affecting the coloration of polyimides (PIs), we prepared 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane ( 2 ) with four CF3 groups with 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride and 2,2‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenol)hexafluoropropane. A series of soluble and light‐colored fluorinated PIs ( 5 ) were synthesized from 2 and various aromatic dianhydrides ( 3a – 3f ). 5a – 5f had inherent viscosities ranging from 0.80 to 1.19 dL/g and were soluble in amide polar solvents and even in less polar solvents. The glass‐transition temperatures of 5 were 221–265 °C, and the 10% weight‐loss temperatures were above 493 °C. Their films had cutoff wavelengths between 343 and 390 nm, b* values (a yellowness index) ranging from 5 to 41, dielectric constants of 2.68–3.01 (1 MHz), and moisture absorptions of 0.03–0.29 wt %. In a comparison of the PI series 6 – 8 based on 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane, 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl]propane, and 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane, we found that the CF3 group close to the imide group was more effective in lowering the color; this means that CF3 of 5 , 7 , and 8f was more effective than that of 6c . The color intensity of the four PI series was lowered in the following order: 5 > 7 > 6 > 8 . The PI 5f , synthesized from diamine 2 and 4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidenediphthalic anhydride, had six CF3 groups in a repeated segment, so it exhibited the lightest color among the four series. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel white‐light‐emitting organic molecule, which consists of carbazolyl‐ and phenothiazinyl‐substituted benzophenone (OPC) and exhibits aggregation‐induced emission‐delayed fluorescence (AIE‐DF) and mechanofluorochromic properties was synthesized. The CIE color coordinates of OPC were directly measured with a non‐doped powder, which presented white‐emission coordinates (0.33, 0.33) at 244 K to 252 K and (0.35, 0.35) at 298 K. The asymmetric donor–acceptor–donor′ (D‐A‐D′) type of OPC exhibits an accurate inherited relationship from dicarbazolyl‐substituted benzophenone (O2C, D‐A‐D) and diphenothiazinyl‐substituted benzophenone (O2P, D′‐A‐D′). By purposefully selecting the two parent molecules, that is, O2C (blue) and O2P (yellow), the white‐light emission of OPC can be achieved in a single molecule. This finding provides a feasible molecular strategy to design new AIE‐DF white‐light‐emitting organic molecules.  相似文献

The TiCl4‐mediated [3+3] cyclocondensation of various 1,3‐bis(trimethylsilyloxy)buta‐1,3‐dienes with 1‐chloro‐1,1‐difluoro‐4‐(trimethylsilyloxy)pent‐3‐en‐2‐one provides a regioselective access to novel 6‐(chlorodifluoromethyl)salicylates (=6‐(chlorodifluoromethyl)‐2‐hydroxybenzoates) with very good regioselectivity. For selected products, it was demonstrated that the CF2Cl group can be transformed to CF2H and CF2(Allyl) by free‐radical reactions.  相似文献

Dimethoxybis(3,3,3‐trifluo‐ropropen‐1‐yl)benzenes were prepared through palladium‐catalyzed double cross‐coupling reactions of diiododimethoxybenzenes with CF3C≡CZnCl, followed by reduction of CF3C≡C groups with LiAlH4 or H2 in the presence of the Lindlar catalyst. The edges of the absorption spectra of 1,2‐(MeO)2‐4,5‐(CF3CHC=CH)2benzenes 1 and 1,3‐(MeO)2‐4,6‐(CF3CH=CH)2benzenes 2 in cyclohexane ranged from 348 to 360 nm, whereas the absorption spectra of 1,4‐(MeO)2‐2,5‐[(E)‐CF3CH=CH]2 benzene ((E)‐ 3 ) ended at 406 nm. These findings indicate that the effective conjugation length of (E)‐ 3 was significantly larger than those of 1 and 2 . Consistently, 1 and 2 in cyclohexane exhibited fluorescence with emission maxima in the UV region, whereas (E)‐ 3 in cyclohexane emitted violet light with an emission maximum at 407 nm. All the fluorescence spectra of 1 – 3 in various solvents redshifted as the solvent polarity increased. The photoluminescence of 1 , E‐1 , Z‐1 , 2 , E‐2 , E‐2H , Z‐2 , E‐3 , E‐3H , Z‐3 in the solid states was also observed with emission maxima in the violet region. It is important to note that the quantum yields of (E)‐ 3 in a neat thin film and in a doped polymer film were 0.37 and 0.49, respectively. Density functional theory calculations suggested that the fluorine atoms contribute to a slight extension of both the HOMOs and the LUMOs, as well as narrowing of the HOMO–LUMO gaps when compared with the corresponding fluorine‐free analogues. In the case of (E)‐ 3 , it is suggested that the HOMO–LUMO transition includes charge transfer from the ethereal oxygen atoms to the C(sp2) CF3 moieties.  相似文献

Low cost, simple, and environmentally friendly strategies for white‐light generation which do not require rare‐earth phosphors or other toxic or elementally scare species remain an essentially unmet challenge. Progress in the area of all‐organic approaches is highly sought, single molecular systems remaining a particular challenge. Taking inspiration from the designer nature of ionic‐liquid chemistry, we now introduce a new strategy toward white‐light emission based on the facile generation of nanoparticles comprising three different fluorophores assembled in a well‐defined stoichiometry purely through electrostatic interactions. The building blocks consist of the fluorophores aminopyrene, fluorescein, and rhodamine 6G which represent blue, green, and red‐emitting species, respectively. Spherical nanoparticles 16(±5) nm in size were prepared which display bright white‐light emission with high fluorescence quantum efficiency (26 %) and color coordinate at (0.29, 0.38) which lie in close proximity to pure white light (0.33, 0.33). It is noteworthy that this same fluorophore mixture in free solution yields only blue emission. Density functional theory calculations reveal H‐bond and ground‐state proton transfer mediated absolute non‐parallel orientation of the constituent units which result in frustrated energy transfer, giving rise to emission from the individual centers and concomitant white‐light emission.  相似文献

The title compound, C13H12N2OS, was prepared by condensation of 4‐methoxycinnamaldehyde and thioacetamide in ethanol at room temperature. Its investigation was undertaken as part of our search for new non‐linear optical compounds. The π‐conjugated title molecule is almost planar, the dihedral angle between the central planar 2‐cyano‐5‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)penta‐2,4‐diene fragment and the thioacetamide group being 9.2 (6)°. Molecules are linked by N—H?N and N—H?O hydrogen bonds forming a two‐dimensional motif.  相似文献

As part of a homologous series of novel polyfluorinated bipyridyl (bpy) ligands, the title compound, C16H14F6N2O2, contains the smallest fluorinated group, viz. CF3. The molecule resides on a crystallographic inversion centre at the mid‐point of the pyridine Cipso—Cipso bond. Therefore, the bpy skeleton lies in an anti conformation to avoid repulsion between the two pyridyl N atoms. Weak intramolecular C—H...N and C—H...O interactions are observed, similar to those in related polyfluorinated bpy–metal complexes. A π–π interaction is observed between the bpy rings of adjacent molecules and this is probably a primary driving force in crystallization. Weak intermolecular C—H...N hydrogen bonding is present between one of the CF3CH2– methylene H atoms and a pyridyl N atom related by translation along the [010] direction, in addition to weak benzyl‐type C—H...F interactions to atoms of the terminal CF3 group. It is of note that the O—CH2CF3 bond is almost perpendicular to the bpy plane.  相似文献

3‐(2,2′‐Bipyridyl)‐substituted iminocoumarin molecules (compounds 1 and 2 ) exhibit dual fluorescence. Each molecule has one electron donor and two electron acceptors that are in conjugation, which leads to fluorescence from two independent charge transfer (CT) states. To account for the dual fluorescence, we subscribe to a kinetic model in which both CT states form after rapid decays from the directly accessed S1 and S2 excited states. Due to the slow internal conversion from S2 to S1, or more likely the slow interconversion between the two subsequently formed CT states, dual emission is allowed to occur. This hypothesis is supported by the following evidence: 1) the emission at short and long ends of the spectrum originates from two different excitation spectra, which eliminates the possibility that dual emission occurs after an adiabatic reaction at the S1 level. 2) The fluorescence quantum yield of compound 2 grows with increasing excitation wavelength, which indicates that the high‐energy excitation elevates the molecule to a weakly emissive state that does not internally convert to the low‐energy, highly emissive state. The intensity of the two emission bands of 1 is tunable through the specific interactions between either of the two electron acceptors with another species, such as Zn2+ in the current demonstration. Therefore, the development of ratiometric fluorescent indicators based on the dual‐emitting iminocoumarin system is conceivable. Further fundamental studies on this series of compounds using time‐resolved spectroscopic techniques, and explorations of their applications will be carried out in the near future.  相似文献
