2 + Na2S → CdS + 2NaCl induced by mechanical milling resulted in the formation of CdS particles with an average diameter of < 8 nm. The average particle size was controlled within the range of 4 to 8 nm by varying the size of the grinding media. x Ba1-xNb2O6 (x=0.5) films (abbreviated as SBN:0.5) on SiO2-coated Si substrates are potential components for the application of integrated electro-optics devices. SBN:0.5 optical waveguiding thin films on SiO2-coated Si substrates with a very thin MgO diffusion buffer have been successfully prepared by pulsed laser deposition. The as-grown films have a refractive index of 2.28, which is close to that of bulk SBN. X-ray analysis showed that the as-grown films have a single-phase tetragonal tungsten bronze structure. The SBN:0.5 thin films prepared by PLD exhibit favorable ferroelectric and optical waveguiding properties. The composition and the morphology of the films were also examined by XPS and by SEM, respectively. Ferroelectric SBN:0.5 optical waveguiding thin films on SiO2-coated Si substrates are expected to be used in integrated electro-optic devices. 2 O3, AlN and Si substrates produced by vacuum ultraviolet induced decomposition of palladium acetate is described. The palladium films formed and the palladium acetate layers used were characterised by using ultraviolet spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The optical transmission of the films after irradiation with pseudo-continuous 126 nm radiation generated by an excimer lamp provided information about the decomposition rate at different pressures and exposure times. The FTIR spectra recorded the chemical changes of the C=O, COO- and CH3 groups at different exposure times. The decomposition mechanism of the palladium acetate under these conditions appears to be quite different to that induced by pulsed laser irradiation. 2 interface upon irradiation of oxidized Si(100) and Si(111) samples with femtosecond laser pulses of nanojoule pulse energy at the wavelength of 780 nm (1.6 eV). We attribute this effect to a dc-field-induced SH contribution which results from the creation of new oxide traps by a photoinduced damage process. The damage process occurs, with a significantly lower efficiency, also under cw irradiation; the experimental results, however, rule out a thermal origin of the effect as well as a multiphoton effect. The resonance properties of localized electrostatic surface modes associated with a finite number of ridges on an otherwise planar surface are investigated. Numerical solutions of the homogeneous integral equations that describe the electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of the ridges are used to obtain the dispersion relation of surface plasmons. The frequencies of the electrostatic surface shape resonances are calculated for ridges with Gaussian, Lorentzian, sinusoidal, exponential, and triangular profiles. We show the existence of splittings of the plasmon frequencies, which depends on the surface profile function and on the distance between the ridges. Considering the ridge with a sinusoidal profile, we obtain the limit on the number of ridges which generates a frequency splitting of the electrostatic surface shape resonances, whose frequency values converge to those of the dispersion relation of surface plasmons on one-dimensional sinusoidal grating. This work deals with the investigation of dielectric and optical properties of discontinuous metal films over a wide range of filling factors each side of the percolation threshold. A phenomenological two-parameter representation is used for the effective permittivity &εtilde; of such systems. In order to test the proposed approach, we have taken for gold films on a glass substrate the transmittance spectra in the visible and near-IR regions. It is shown that the representation used for the effective permittivity enables us to adequately describe the experimental transmittance spectra. The parameters entering the above representation are determined and the relationship between them and film microgeometry is discussed. 2 O3 composite films with high Au concentrations (30%–60% in volume fraction) were prepared by reactive co-sputtering and post rapidly thermal annealing. The structure of the films and the size distributions of the Au nanoclusters were examined by TEM, and the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) was measured by degenerated four-wave mixing using a 70-ps pulse laser at 532 nm. The maximum value of the χ(3) was about 1.2×10-6 esu in the annealed films and occurred at around 45% Au concentration. The figure of merit, χ(3)/α (α is the absorption coefficient), has a value of 7×10-12 esu cm over a wide range of Au concentrations. Received: 23 July 1997  相似文献

Ion synthesis and laser annealing of Cu nanoparticles in Al2O3   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Al2O3 samples with Cu nanoparticles, synthesised by ion implantation at 40 keV with a dose of 1×1017 ion/cm2 and a current density from 2.5 to 12.5 μA/cm2, were annealed using ten pulses from a KrF excimer laser with a single pulse fluence of 0.3 J/cm2. The copper depth distribution, formation and modification of metal nanoparticles under the ion implantation and laser treatment were studied by Rutherford backscattering (RBS), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and optical spectroscopy. It was found that laser annealing leads to a reduction in the nanoparticle size without diffusion of metal atoms into the bulk. The change in particle size and the possibility for oxidation of the copper particles are examined in the framework of Mie theory. Calculations presented show that under excimer laser treatment, Cu nanoparticles are more likely to be reduced in size than to undergo oxidation. Magnetooptical studies performed on a wide InGaAs/GaAs single quantum well indicate that optically non-active (dark) excitons with total angular momentum play the role of a reservoir for the creation of free multiparticle excitonic complexes. After analyzing the magnetic field evolution of the circularly polarized components of the low energy structure appearing in the main excitonic luminescence line we assign this feature to the excitonic trion formation. The size and shape of silver nanoparticles which are embedded in a plasma-polymer matrix were obtained by transmission electron microscopy and analyzed with optical image processing. We used a sample in which silver particles were present before and after reshaping caused by thermal annealing in adjacent regions. As most of the particles appeared as elongated rotational ellipsoids, the major and minor half axis were determined for each particle. We adopted the model of Gans in the Rayleigh approximation to calculate for each investigated particle the extinction spectra from to using the data from the image processing. The various spectra for 368 silver particles were added to get total extinction spectra for the sample as deposited and after reshaping, respectively. We found good agreement with the experimental spectra. The blue shift of the plasma-resonance absorption, which occurs due to the reshaping of the silver particles during thermal annealing, was also confirmed by using only changes in the particle sizes and shapes. Hexagonal and cubic cadmium selenide were prepared from a chemical route by using cadmium chloride and potassium selenium hydride obtained from reaction of selenium powder and potassium boron hydride. The product obtained was thermally treated under argon flux at 300, 500 and 600 °C for 2 h and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The X-ray diffraction data were refined by Rietveld method and the structural parameters were determined for the phases of each annealed samples. At 300 °C five phases were identified: Cubic and hexagonal cadmium selenides and the contaminants: Potassium chloride, boron oxide and cadmium boron oxide. At 500 and 600 °C only the hexagonal cadmium selenide phase was identified besides the other above mentioned contaminant.  相似文献
