The magnetic properties of layered hydroxylammonium fluorocobaltate (NH(3)OH)(2)CoF(4) were investigated by measuring its dc magnetic susceptibility in zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) regimes, its frequency dependent ac susceptibility, its isothermal magnetization curves after ZFC and FC regimes, and its heat capacity. Effects of pressure and magnetic field on magnetic phase transitions were studied by susceptibility and heat capacity measurements, respectively. The system undergoes a magnetic phase transition from a paramagnetic state to a canted antiferromagnetic state exhibiting a weak ferromagnetic behavior at T(C) = 46.5 K and an antiferromagnetic transition at T(N) = 2.9 K. The most spectacular manifestation of the complex magnetic behavior in this system is a shift of the isothermal magnetization hysteresis loop in a temperature range below 20 K after the FC regime-an exchange bias phenomenon. We investigated the exchange bias as a function of the magnetic field during cooling and as a function of temperature. The observed exchange bias was attributed to the large exchange anisotropy which exists due to the quasi-2D structure of the layered (NH(3)OH)(2)CoF(4) material.

We have investigated exchange bias effects in bilayers composed of the antiferromagnetic o-YMnO(3) and ferromagnetic Co thin film by means of SQUID magnetometry, magnetoresistance, anisotropic magnetoresistance and the planar Hall effect. The magnetization and magneto-transport properties show pronounced asymmetries in the field and magnetization axes of the field hysteresis loops. Both exchange bias parameters, the exchange bias field H(E)(T) as well as the magnetization shift M(E)(T), vanish around the Néel temperature T(N)???45?K. We show that the magnetization shift M(E)(T) is also measured by a shift in the anisotropic magnetoresistance and planar Hall resistance having a similar temperature dependence as the one obtained from magnetization measurements. Because the o-YMnO(3) film is highly insulating, our results demonstrate that the M(E)(T) shift originates at the interface within the ferromagnetic Co layer. To show that the main results obtained are general and not because of some special characteristics of the o-YMO(3) layer, similar measurements were done in Co/CoO micro-wires. The transport and magnetization characterization of the micro-wires supports the main conclusion that these effects are related to the response of the ferromagnetic Co layer at the interface.  相似文献

The extraordinary Hall resistivity rho(xy) and the magnetization M of a canonical spin glass AuFe (8 at.% Fe) were measured simultaneously as functions of temperature with the best care to the thermal and the magnetic field hysteresis. The data of rho(xy) show an anomaly at the spin glass transition temperature T(g) and have different zero field cooling (ZFC) and field cooling (FC) measurements below T(g). Moreover, the value of rho(xy)/M, which represents the chiral susceptibility of the system in the present case, also shows the difference between ZFC and FC measurements. The results are consistent with the predictions of the chirality scenario of canonical spin glasses by Kawamura.  相似文献

Low-field negative magnetization, of the order of −10−1 emu/g-Oe, from 4.2 K up to room temperature and higher (350 K), and coercive-field magnetization reversal are both present in Cr(3−x)FexX4 for X=S, Se, Te and x=0 to 3, and for Cr5Te8 and Cr7Te8. For Cr2FeSe4 the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) magnetization is negative for 5 Oe and below. To obtain a more detailed knowledge of the magnetic phases involved in the observed magnetization versus temperature M(T) curves, we obtained and studied neutron diffraction (n.d.) scans on the compound Cr2FeSe4, taken at 14 temperatures from 4.2 to 300 K. For this same n.d. sample, the temperature for magnetization reversal of value −3×10−4 emu/g-Oe is 80 K in 40 Oe applied field, then the reversal disappears for 65 Oe applied field. The complex magnetic interactions responsible for this reversal are revealed in the hysteresis curves.  相似文献

Magnetic and transport properties of La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 have been investigated by measuring the magnetization and resistance in zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) modes. Conspicuously irreversible behaviors of magnetization/resistance in the two different modes were observed below the charge ordering transition temperature (TCO). The ZFC and FC magnetizations at 5K, as functions of the magnetic field, coincide for μ0H≤1T. Afterwards, the ZFC magnetization tends to an approximate constant, but the FC one increases linearly with increasing field. There exists an excellent correspondence between magnetization and resistance below TCO. All the results suggest that the ferromagnetic clusters embed in the charge-ordered matrix. The phenomenon of ferromagnetic clusters growing up easily in the FC procedure has been interpreted according to the model of thermally activated two-level system.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the magnetization of polycrystalline samples of (NdSmDy)(FeCo)B sintered permanent magnets are measured in various magnetic fields by a SQUID magnetometer. Near T = 110 K, the spin-reorientation transition occurs. Bistable magnetic states with two equally possible orientations of the magnetization vector corresponding to different polarities of the permanent magnet are formed in the samples near the spin-reorientation transition. The polarity of the sintered magnets can be stabilized by a small external magnetic field of ~250 Oe. It provides new possibilities for the application of these magnets in cryomagnetic systems such as magnetic undulators.  相似文献

The chain-like system Ba(3)Cu(3)Sc(4)O(12) has potentially interesting magnetic properties due to the presence of Cu(2+) and a structure-suggested low dimensionality. We present magnetization M versus magnetic field H and temperature T, T- and H-dependent heat-capacity C(p), (45)Sc nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), muon spin rotation (μSR), neutron diffraction measurements and electronic structure calculations for Ba(3)Cu(3)Sc(4)O(12). The onset of magnetic long-range antiferromagnetic (AF) order at T(N) ~ 16 K is consistently evidenced from the whole gamut of our data. A significant sensitivity of T(N) to the applied magnetic field H (T(N) ~ 0 K for H = 70 kOe) is also reported. Coupled with a ferromagnetic Curie-Weiss temperature (θ(CW) ~ 65 K) in the susceptibility (from a 100 to 300 K fit), it is indicative of competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions. These indications are corroborated by our density functional theory based electronic structure calculations, where we find the presence of significant ferromagnetic couplings between some copper ions whereas AF couplings were present between some others. Our experimental data, backed by our theoretical calculations, rule out the one-dimensional magnetic behavior suggested by the structure and the observed long-range order is due to the presence of non-negligible magnetic interactions between adjacent as well as next-nearest chains.  相似文献

High quality thin films of La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) of different thickness were grown on LAO substrates by pulsed laser deposition (KrF, λ = 278 nm). The AFM images suggest a twodimensional step-growth. DC magnetization measurements of the films in a field of 500 Oe show that the magnetic ordering temperature is the same for all the films in both FC and ZFC conditions and is the same as that for the bulk. However, a difference is seen between the FC and ZFC magnetization of the films. There seems to be a systematic in this difference with respect to the thickness of the film, with the difference decreasing with thickness. We suggest that the difference in the magnetization under FC and ZFC conditions may be due to strain-induced anisotropy arising from the lattice mismatch between the substrate and the film or due to the shape anisotropy due to epitaxial growth Article presented at the International Symposium on Advances in Superconductivity and Magnetism: Materials, Mechanisms and Devices, ASMM2D-2001, 25–28 September 2001, Mangalore, India.  相似文献

In this work, an effective method to modulate the ferromagnetic properties of Mn-doped GeTe chalcogenide-based phase change materials is presented. The microstructure of the phase change magnetic material Ge1?x Mn x Te thin films was studied. The X-ray diffraction results demonstrate that the as-deposited films are amorphous, and the crystalline films are formed after annealing at 350 °C for 10 min. Crystallographic structure investigation shows the existence of some secondary magnetic phases. The lattice parameters of Ge1?x Mn x Te (x = 0.04, 0.12 and 0.15) thin films are found to be slightly different with changes of Mn compositions. The structural analysis clearly indicates that all the films have a stable rhombohedral face-centered cubic polycrystalline structure. The magnetic properties of the amorphous and crystalline Ge0.96Mn0.04Te were investigated. The measurements of magnetization (M) as a function of the magnetic field (H) show that both amorphous and crystalline phases of Ge0.96Mn0.04Te thin film are ferromagnetic and there is drastic variation between amorphous and crystalline states. The temperature (T) dependence of magnetizations at zero field cooling (ZFC) and field cooling (FC) conditions of the crystalline Ge0.96Mn0.04Te thin film under different applied magnetic fields were performed. The measured data at 100 and 300 Oe applied magnetic fields show large bifurcations in the ZFC and FC curves while on the 5,000 Oe magnetic field there is no deviation.  相似文献

A vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) has been used to study the field-dependent magnetization, M(H), of the d5?d7 metal acetates [M(OAc)2.nH2O], metal β?diketonate complexes [M(tba)2(H2O)2] and the macromolecular polymers [M(tba)2(4,4-bipy)]n (where, M = Mn(II), Fe(II), and Co(II), OAc = O2CCH3, tba = deprotonated 3-benzoyl-1.1.1-trifluoroacetone, and 4,4-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine). The magnetic field strength (H) was applied in the range of 0?104 Oe at ambient temperature (ca. 23°C). The experimental results showed that the d5?d7 metal acetate, complexes and polymers exhibit low paramagnetic properties excepting [Fe(tba)2(4,4-bipy)]n polymer, which had negative magnetization M(emu/g) showing diamagnetic properties in the range 0?104 Oe. The magnetization was almost equal to zero without an applied magnetic field (H(Oe)) for each d5?d7 metal acetate, complex, and polymer. The linear M(H) curve had a magnetic saturation for iron and manganese acetate species at the magnetic field strengths of 3.1 × 103 and 4.7 × 103 Oe, respectively. The external magnetic field reached 9.0 × 103 Oe without any saturation magnetization for the cobalt compounds. The coordination effect of 3-benzoyl-1.1.1-trifluoroacetone (H-tba) and 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bipy) ligands on the field-dependent magnetization M(H) and paramagnetic behavior of d5?d7 metal atoms is discussed. The field-dependent magnetization M(H) curves of metal β?diketonate complexes and the polymers including d5?d7 metal acetates showed a weak field octahedral geometry.  相似文献

The magnetic anisotropy of ferromagnetic (FM) Ni, Co, and Fe polycrystalline thin films grown on antiferromagnetic (AF) FeF(2)(110) epitaxial layers was studied, as a function of temperature, using ferromagnetic resonance. In addition to an in-plane anisotropy in the FM induced by fluctuations in the AF short-range order, a perpendicular (biquadratic) magnetic anisotropy, with an out-of-plane component, was found which increased with decreasing temperature above the AF Neél temperature (T(N) = 78.4 K). This is a surprising result given that the AF's uniaxial anisotropy axis was in the plane of the sample, but is consistent with prior experimental and theoretical work. The resonance linewidth had a strong dependence on the direction of the external magnetic field with respect to in-plane FeF(2) crystallographic directions, consistent with interface magnon scattering due to defect-induced demagnetizing fields. Below T(N), the exchange bias field H(E) measured via FMR for the Ni sample was in good agreement with H(E) determined from magnetization measurements if the perpendicular out-of-plane anisotropy was taken into account. A low field resonance line normally observed at H ≈ 0, associated with domain formation during magnetization in ferromagnets, coincided with the exchange bias field for T < T(N), indicating domain formation with the in-plane FM magnetization perpendicular to the AF easy axis. Thus, biquadratic FM-AF coupling is important at temperatures below and above T(N).  相似文献

The present paper reports the achievement of the rotating-frame analog of spin-locking and its application to the precise measurements of the spin-lattice relaxation time T(1DR) in the doubly rotating frame. After the magnetization is aligned along the resonant RF field H(1), a pulse sequence of a low-frequency oscillating magnetic field at exact resonance is applied perpendicular to H(1). We have overcome several technical difficulties arising from the fact that the rotating-wave approximation is not valid for the low-frequency field. We have theoretically derived an expression of T(-1)(1DR) due to fluctuating magnetic dipole interactions in the weak collision case and found an important relation among the spin-lattice relaxation rates T(-1)(1), T(-1)(1rho), and T(-1)(1DR). This relation can be used to ascertain whether the relaxation is only due to the fluctuating magnetic dipole interactions between like spins. The experiment was carried out on (1)H nuclei in tetramethylammonium iodide (CH(3))(4)NI and the temperature dependence of T(-1)(1DR) was measured together with that of T(-1)(1) and T(-1)(1rho). The activation energies and the preexponential factors of Arrhenius expressions of the correlation times are newly determined.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties and spin dynamics of dextran coated and uncoated γ-Fe(2)O(3) (maghemite) nanoparticles have been investigated using high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), (57)Fe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), M?ssbauer spectroscopy and dc magnetization measurements. The HRTEM observations indicated a well-crystallized system of ellipsoid-shaped nanoparticles, with an average size of 10 nm. The combined M?ssbauer and magnetic study suggested the existence of significant interparticle interactions not only in the uncoated but also in the dextran coated nanoparticle assemblies. The zero-field NMR spectra of the nanoparticles at low temperatures are very similar to those of the bulk material, indicating the same hyperfine field values at saturation in accord with the performed M?ssbauer measurements. The T(2) NMR spin-spin relaxation time of the nanoparticles has also been measured as a function of temperature and found to be two orders of magnitude shorter than that of the bulk material. It is shown that the thermal fluctuations in the longitudinal magnetization of the nanoparticles in the low temperature limit may account for the shortening and the temperature dependence of the T(2) relaxation time. Thus, the low temperature NMR results are in accord with the mechanism of collective magnetic excitations, due to the precession of the magnetization around the easy direction of the magnetization at an energy minimum, a mechanism originally proposed to interpret M?ssbauer experiments in magnetic nanoparticles. The effect of the surface spins on the NMR relaxation mechanisms is also discussed.  相似文献

We report detailed studies of the non-equilibrium magnetic behavior of antiferromagnetic Co3O4 nanoparticles. The temperature and field dependence of magnetization, wait time dependence of magnetic relaxation (aging), memory effects, and temperature dependence of specific heat have been investigated to understand the magnetic behavior of these particles. We find that the system shows some features that are characteristic of nanoparticle magnetism such as bifurcation of field-cooled (FC) and zero-field-cooled (ZFC) susceptibilities and a slow relaxation of magnetization. However, strangely, the temperature at which the ZFC magnetization peaks coincides with the bifurcation temperature and does not shift on application of magnetic fields up to 1 kOe, unlike most other nanoparticle systems. Aging effects in these particles are negligible in both FC and ZFC protocols, and memory effects are present only in the FC protocol. We show that Co3O4 nanoparticles constitute a unique antiferromagnetic system which enters into a blocked state above the average Néel temperature.  相似文献

We report torque magnetization measurements in regions of the mixed state phase diagram ( B approximately mu(o)H(c2) and T(c)/10(3)) of the organic superconductor kappa-(ET)2Cu(NCS)(2), where quantum fluctuations are expected to dominate thermal effects. Over most of the field range below the irreversibility line ( B(irr)), magnetothermal instabilities are observed in the form of flux jumps. The abrupt cessation of these instabilities just below B(irr) indicates a quantum melting transition from a quasi-two-dimensional vortex lattice phase to a quantum liquid phase.  相似文献

Neutron measurements show that superconducting ErNi2B2C (T(C) = 11 K) develops antiferromagnetic spin density wave magnetic order (T(N) = 6 K), which squares up with decreasing temperature yielding a series of higher-order magnetic Bragg peaks with odd harmonics. Below T(WFM) = 2.3 K where magnetization indicates a net moment develops, even-order Bragg peaks develop which low field (approximately 3 Oe) polarized beam measurements show are magnetic in origin. The data directly demonstrate the existence of a net magnetization with a periodicity of 20a, confirming the microscopic coexistence of spontaneous weak ferromagnetism with superconductivity.  相似文献

The results of the magnetic susceptibility, isothermal magnetization, heat capacity, electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance measurements on polycrystalline Eu(3)Ni(4)Ga(4) are presented. Eu(3)Ni(4)Ga(4) forms in Na(3)Pt(4)Ge(4)-type cubic crystal structure (space group [Formula: see text]). The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of Eu(3)Ni(4)Ga(4) confirms the divalent state (Eu(2+)) of Eu ions with an effective magnetic moment μ(eff)?=?7.98?μ(B). At low fields, e.g.?at 0.01?T, a magnetic phase transition to an antiferromagnetically ordered state occurs at T(N)?=?10.9?K, which is further confirmed by the temperature dependence of the heat capacity and electrical resistivity. The field dependence of isothermal magnetization at 2?K reveals the presence of two field induced metamagnetic transitions at H(c1) and H(c2)?=?0.55 and 1.2?T, respectively and a polarized phase above H(PO)?=?1.7?T. The reduced jump in the heat capacity at the transition temperature, ΔC|(T(N))?=?13.48?J/mol-Eu?K would indicate an amplitude modulated (AM) antiferromagnetic structure. An interesting feature is that a large negative magnetoresistance, MR?=?[ρ(H)?-?ρ(0)]/ρ(0), is observed in the vicinity of magnetic transition even up to 2T(N). Similar large magnetoresistance has been observed in the paramagnetic state in some Gd and Eu based alloys and has been attributed to the magneto-polaronic effect.  相似文献
