A precise theoretical investigation has been made on the cylindrical and spherical (nonplanar) Gardner solitons (GSs) and double layers (DLs) in a dusty electronegative plasma (composed of inertial positive and negative ions, Maxwellian cold electrons, non-thermal hot electrons, and negatively charged static dust). The reductive perturbation method has been used in derivation of the modified Gardner (MG) equation describing the nonlinear propagation of the dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves. The MG equation admits solitary waves (SWs) and DLs solutions for σ around its critical value σ c (where σc is the value of σ corresponding to the vanishing of the nonlinear coefficient of the Korteweg de-Vries (K-dV) equation). The nonplanar SWs and DLs solutions are numerically analyzed and the parametric regimes for the existence of the positive as well as negative SWs and negative DLs are obtained. The basic features of nonplanar DIA SWs and DLs, which are found to be different from planar ones, are also identified. The implications of our results to different space and laboratory dusty plasma situations, are discussed.  相似文献

Arbitrary amplitude solitary waves (SWs) and double layers (DLs) in an ultra-relativistic degenerate dense dusty plasma (containing ultra-relativistic degenerate ultra-cold electron fluid, inertial ultra-cold ion fluid, and negatively charged static dust) have been investigated by the pseudo-potential approach. It has been found that for δ=1 (where δ is the ratio of nonlinear wave speed to linear wave phase speed) extremely large amplitude DLs with negative potential exist for μ=0.537 (where μ is the ratio of dust charge density to ion charge density) and SWs with negative potential exist for 1>μ>0.537. It is also shown that for δ>1 only SWs with positive potential exist for 0?μ<0.537, but SWs with positive potential coexist with SWs or DLs with a negative potential for 0.537>μ>0.851. The implications of our results in some compact astrophysical objects, particularly, in white dwarfs and neutron stars, have been briefly discussed.  相似文献

Dust acoustic double layers are studied in a four component dusty plasma. Positively and negatively charged mobile dust and Boltzmann distributed electrons are considered. The ion distribution is taken as nonthermal. The existence of compressive and rarefractive double layers is studied by pseudopotential approach. The effect of non-thermal ions on small amplitude and arbitrary amplitude double layers are also studied.  相似文献

Small amplitude ion-acoustic double layers in an unmagnetized and collisionless plasma consisting of cold positive ions, q-nonextensive electrons, and a cold electron beam are investigated. Small amplitude double layer solution is obtained by expanding the Sagdeev potential truncated method. The effects of entropic index q, speed and density of cold electron beam on double layer structures are discussed.  相似文献

Formation of large-amplitude double layers in a dusty plasma whose constituents are electrons, ions, warm dust grains and positive ion beam are studied using Sagdeev’s pseudopotential technique. Existence of double layers is investigated. It is found that both the temperature of dust particles and ion beam temperature play significant roles in determining the region of the existence of double layers.  相似文献

Large amplitude adiabatic double layers are investigated in the case of positively charged dusty plasma. The dust grains provide the inertia and the background plasma is formed of two electron populations, hot and cold, in thermal equilibrium. Using fluid equations and the pressure balance equation, the Sagdeev pseudo-potential is driven in the stationary frame. The dependence of the double layers amplitude and Mach number on various parameters such as the hot to cold electron densities, the temperature ratio and the dust drift velocity have been numerically examined. The critical parameters, for which a nature change occurs, are found.  相似文献

A first theoretical attempt is made to investigate small amplitude, variable charge dust Bernstein-Greene-Kruskal (BGK) double layers (DLs). The nature of the dust BGK-DLs (compressive or rarefactive), their strength and thickness depend sensitively on the net negative charge residing on the grain surface, the dust grain dynamics and, more interestingly, on the ion-to-electron temperatures ratio.  相似文献

The electrostatic double layer (DL) structures are studied in negative ion plasma with nonextensive electrons q-distribution. The extended Korteweg–de Vries (EKdV) equation is derived using a reductive perturbation method. It is found that both fast (compressive) and slow (rarefactive) ion acoustic (IA) DLs can propagate in such type of plasmas. The effects of various plasma physical parameters; such as nonextensivity of electrons, presence of negative ions, temperature of both positive and negative ions and different mass ratios of positive to negative ions on the formation of DL structures are discussed in detail with numerical illustrations.  相似文献

Propagation regimes of an arbitrary amplitude dust acoustic solitary wave in a dusty plasma with an ion beam are analyzed by employing the Sagdeev potential technique. Two domains of the Mach numbers are defined depending on the ion beam and plasma parameters. Only a rarefactive soliton solution is found in a low velocity regime. Numerical solutions are presented that illustrate the dependence of soliton characteristics on practically interesting plasma and ion beam parameters. The findings of this investigation could be useful in understanding the nonlinear interaction of external ion beam and dusty plasma observed in laboratory plasma experiments.  相似文献

A new dust ion-acoustic wave structure called ‘Rogue wave triplets’ is investigated in an unmagnetized plasma consisting of stationary negatively charged dust grains, charged positive and negative ions, and electrons obeying kappa distribution, which is penetrated by an ion beam. The reductive perturbation theory is used to derive the nonlinear Schrödinger equation governing the dynamics as well as the modulation of wave packets. The rogue wave triplets which are composed of three separate Peregrine breathers can be generated in the modulation instability region. It has been suggested that a laboratory experiment be performed to test the theory presented here.  相似文献

The dust grain charging effect on large amplitude ion-acoustic double layers in a dusty plasma are investigated by the numerical calculation. The nonlinear structures of ion-acoustic double layers are examined, showing that the characteristics of the double layer sensitively depend on the dust charging effect, the influence of the ion temperature, the electrostatic potential, and the Mach number. The flow of the plasma current to the surface of dust particles increases the dust charge numbers. The effect of the ion temperature decreases the propagation speed of the ion-acoustic double layers and decreases the dust charge numbers. It is found that rarefactive double layers can propagate in this system. New findings of large amplitude ion-acoustic double layers with the dust charging effect and finite ion temperature in a dusty plasma are predicted  相似文献

For an unmagnetised collisionless plasma consisting of warm ions, nonisothermal electrons and cold, massive and charged dust grains, the Sagdeev potential equation, considering both ion dynamics and dust dynamics has been derived. It has been observed that the Sagdeev potential V(ϕ) exists only for ϕ > 0 up to an upper limit (ϕ ≃ 1.2). This implies the possibility of existence of compressive solitary wave in the plasma. Exhaustive numerics done for both the large-amplitude and small-amplitude ion-acoustic waves have revealed that various parameters, namely, ion temperature, non-isothermality of electrons, Mach numbers etc. have considerable impact on the amplitude as well as the width of the solitary waves. Dependence of soliton profiles on the ion temperature and the Mach number has also been graphically displayed. Moreover, incorporating dust-charge fluctuation and non-isothermality of electrons, a non-linear equation relating the grain surface potential to the electrostatic potential has been derived. It has been solved numerically and interdependence of the two potentials for various ion temperatures and orders of non-isothermality has been shown graphically.   相似文献

The effect of suprathermal polarization force on both linear and weakly nonlinear dust-acoustic solitary structures in a three-component dusty plasma is investigated. For this purpose, a new expression of the polarization force acting on dust particles that include the electronic suprathermal effect is derived. The results are applied to two different experimental dusty plasmas. We have found that the polarization force acting on the dust grains decreases as the electron suprathermality becomes more significant. In addition, we have shown that, for a given value of the spectral index κ , the polarization force magnitude fluctuates from one plasma to another. The changes arising in the propagation of small-amplitude dust-acoustic (DA) solitons due to the presence of this suprathermal polarization force are also analysed. Interestingly, an increase in the magnitude of the polarization force leads to an increase in the amplitude and width of DA soliton and provides more energy to the motion of this soliton.  相似文献

Results of the investigation on the formation of double layers in double plasma device are presented. By appropriate modifications in the biasing conditions, we have been able to obtain both weak (eΔφ<10KT e ) and strong double layers (eΔφ>10kT e ) in the device. Unlike previous experiments, we have not been limited to potential jumps equal to ionisation potential of the neutral gas. A detailed investigation has been carried out to find out why earlier experiments in similar devices were limited to only weak double layers. We have also investigated the phenomenon of the so-called psuedo-double layers and have shown that they are potential jumps over the thickness of the order of Debye length and precede plasma expanding with velocity many times the ion-acoustic velocity. They do not represent metastable states of the plasma as suggested by earlier investigators.  相似文献

The double layer like potential jumps have been observed in a double plasma device. They do not correspond to a switching of plasma potential from one metastable state to another but are caused by the ionisation of a very minute amount of the gas that inevitably leaks into the system during the probe movement.  相似文献

The properties of arbitrary amplitude dust-acoustic (DA) solitary waves (SWs) in a dusty plasma containing warm adiabatic dust fluid, isothermal electrons and ions following flat-topped velocity distribution is studied by the pseudo-potential approach. The effects of dust temperature and flat-trapped ions are found to significantly modify the basic features of DA-SWs as well modify the parametric regime for the existence of rarefactive solitary waves. The pseudo-potential for small amplitude limit is also analytically analyzed, and the numerical results are found to agree with analytical results.  相似文献

Particle simulation in a one-dimensional bounded system is used to examine the formation of acoustic double layers in the presence of two ion species. Double-layer formation depends critically on the details of the distribution functions of the supporting ion populations, and their relative drifts with respect to the electrons. The effect of having two ion components, an H+ and an O+ beam, on double-layer evolution from ion acoustic turbulence driven by an electron drift relative to the H+ beam of ≈0.5u e, where uue is the electron thermal speed, is examined. The ratio of ion drifts is taken to be consistent with acceleration by a quasi-static auroral potential drop (i.e. V H/VO=√MO/ MH=4.0). Acoustic double layers form in either ion species on the time scale τ≈100ωps-1, where ωps is the ion plasma frequency for species `s' and s=H or O, and for drifts relative to the electrons lower than that required for double layer formation in simulations of single ion component plasma  相似文献

The nonlinear wave structures of large amplitude ion-acoustic waves are investigated in an electron beam-plasma system with trapped electrons, by the pseudopotential method. The speed of the ion-acoustic wave increases as the effect of trapped electrons decreases and the beam temperature increases. The region of the existence of ion-acoustic waves is examined, showing that the condition of the existence sensitively depends on the parameters such as the effects of the electron beam density and temperature, electrostatic potential, and the effect of trapped electrons. It turns out that the region of existence spreads as the effect of trapped electrons decreases and beam temperature increases. New findings of large amplitude ion-acoustic waves in an electron beam-plasma system with trapped electrons are predicted  相似文献

Effects of nonadiabaticity of variable dust charge, dust fluid temperature, trapped electrons as well as nonisothermality of ions on the amplitude modulation of dust acoustic waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma are investigated. A modified nonlinear Schr?dinger equation (NLSE) is obtained by the standard reductive perturbation technique and is solved numerically by the split-step Fourier method. The modulational instability and the envelope solitary wave structure are found to be modified somewhat by the effects of nonthermally distributed ions and trapped electrons.  相似文献
