The industrial production of beer ends with a process of thermal pasteurization. In this research, the nonthermal pasteurization of beer by high pressure processing (HPP) was carried out. First, the effect of alcohol content on Saccharomyces cerevisiae ascospore inactivation at 400?MPa was studied. The number of ascospores in 0.0%, 4.8%, and 7.0% alc/vol beers for 10?min processing time decreased by 3.1, 4.9, and ≥?6.0 log, respectively. The Weibull model fitted the ascospore inactivation by HPP in 0.0%, 4.8%, and 7.0% alc/vol beers. At 400?MPa, 7.2?s could ensure the minimum pasteurization of beers and for 600?MPa 5?s were enough for ≥?7 log reductions. The overall flavour of HPP vs. untreated beers was evaluated for a lager and an ale, with no significant differences between the untreated and HPP beers. Thus, nonthermal HPP is a feasible technology to pasteurize beer with different alcohol contents without heat.  相似文献

Each smooth elliptic Calabi-Yau 4-fold determines both a three-dimensional physical theory (a compactification of “M-theory”) and a four-dimensional physical theory (using the “F-theory” construction). A key issue in both theories is the calculation of the “superpotential” of the theory, which by a result of Witten is determined by the divisors D on the 4-fold satisfying X( D = 1. We propose a systematic approach to identify these divisors, and derive some criteria to determine whether a given divisor indeed contributes. We then apply our techniques in explicit examples, in particular, when the base B of the elliptic fibration is a toric variety or a Fano 3-fold.

When B is Fano, we show how divisors contributing to the superpotential are always “exceptional” (in some sense) for the Calabi-Yau 4-fold X. This naturally leads to certain transitions of X, i.e., birational tranformations to a singular model (where the image of D no longer contributes) as well as certain smoothings of the singular model. The singularities which occur are “canonical”, the same type of singularities of a (singular) Weierstrass model. We work out the transitions. If a smoothing exists, then the Hodge numbers change.

We speculate that divisors contributing to the superpotential are always “exceptional” (in some sense) for X, also in M-theory. In fact we show that this is a consequence of the (log)-minimal model algorithm in dimension 4, which is still conjectural in its generality, but it has been worked out in various cases, among which are toric varieties.  相似文献

The diffraction-limited spot size of synchrotron-based IR microscopes provides cell-specific, spectrochemical imaging of cleared leaf, stem and root tissues of the model genetic organism Arabidopsis thaliana, and mutant plants created either by T-DNA insertional inactivation or chemical mutagenesis. Spectra in the wavelength region from 6 to 12 μm provide chemical and physical information on the cell wall polysaccharides of mutants lacking particular biosynthetic enzymes (“Cellulose synthase-like” genes). In parallel experiments, synchrotron IR microscopy delineates the role of Arabidopsis cell wall enzymes as susceptibility factors to the fungus Erysiphe cichoracearum, a causative agent of powdery mildew disease. Three genes, pmr4, pmr5, and pmr6 have been characterized by these methods, and biochemical relations between two of the genes suggested by IR spectroscopy and multivariate statistical techniques could not have been inferred through classical molecular biology. In ecological experiments, live plants can also be imaged in small microcosms with mid-IR transmitting ZnSe windows. Small exudate molecules may be spatially mapped in relation to root architecture at diffraction-limited resolution, and the effect of microbial symbioses on the quantity and quality of exudates inferred. Synchrotron IR microscopy provides a useful adjunct to molecular biological methods and underground observatories in the ongoing assessment of the role of root–soil–microbe communication.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity and thermopower are reported for a hole doped Eu1.5Ce0.5RuSr2Cu2O10+δ sample that has been annealed at 1100 K under an oxygen pressure of 54 atm. At Tc=45 K superconductivity and weak ferromagnetism coexist (Tm=180 K). Weak features in the thermopower, S(T), and thermal conductivity, κ(T), are observed both at Tm and at T*=140 K. The thermopower begins to decrease sharply toward zero at Tc, and there is an extremely sharp increase of about 30% in the thermal conductivity at Tc. This “first order” transition may be related to the sudden appearance of a spontaneous vortex phase at Tc. A small shoulder is observed in κ(T) in the temperature range T=5–13 K.  相似文献

Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris is a spore-forming bacterium, causing spoilage of juices. The spores of these bacteria have the ability to survive in the typical conditions used for thermal pasteurization. Therefore, the use of other techniques such as high hydrostatic pressure is considered for their inactivation. The effect of hydrostatic pressure of 200–500 MPa, at temperatures 4–50 °C for 15 min, on the dynamics of germination of A. acidoterrestris spores in apple juice and pH 4 buffer was studied. To estimate the share of germinated spores, the method of determining the optical density at a wavelength of 660 nm (OD660) was used. Parameters of hydrostatic pressure treatment used in this work affected the dynamics of germination of A. acidoterrestris spores in apple juice, and the temperature had the greatest effect. The results indicate that nutrients present in apple juice can promote the germination of A. acidoterrestris spores.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Draft (non-pasteurized) sake typically has a fresh flavor, but usually has to be consumed as soon as possible because of its short shelf life due to the potential for over-fermentation by residual yeast. In contrast, thermally pasteurized sake has a long shelf life, but the fresh flavor is lost during heat sterilization. High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment can be used as a non-thermal pasteurization process while maintaining the characteristics of a draft sake. We evaluated the HHP inactivation behavior of sake yeast for the application of HHP pasteurization as an alternative to thermal pasteurization. The results showed complete pasteurization of sake yeast in the draft sake by HHP treatment at 400?MPa for 10?min. The viable cell count in HHP-pasteurized sake was below the detection limit during storage at 10°C for 3 months. Thus, we have established a HHP pasteurization technology to prevent over-fermentation and succeeded in producing a prototype of HHP-sparkling-cloudy sake, which we have designated AWANAMA.  相似文献

The objectives of this research were to study the effects of temperature, sugar concentration (8, 12, and 16 g/100ml), organic acids (citric and malic acids) and pH (2.5 and 4.0) on ultrasound pasteurization. The model organism used for the research was Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, and ultrasound treatment times were conducted to achieve a 5 log (base 10) reduction. Ultrasound generates heat, therefore the study involved removing the heat using a jacketed beaker with refrigerant (-30 degrees C) to maintain processing temperature at or below 30 degrees C and eliminate the thermal inactivation effects. Overall, ultrasound increased the sensitivity of E. coli to thermal inactivation. The presence of soluble solids had a protective effect where the sonication time requirement increased. Similar to heat sensitivity, the lower pH environment resulted in E. coli having less resistance to sonication. The type of organic acid had the least significant effect on ultrasound inactivation of E. coli.  相似文献

Chronology is rather a weak point in the investigation of pallasites, the stony-iron meteorites. No chronological data are known for the Bragin pallasite. Our attempt to reconstruct its cosmic history was based on the interpretation of fission-track analysis data. To apply this method only uranium-rich phosphates can be used. Extremely rare grains of stanfieldite were extracted from the silicate sawing residue and from the pallasite sample directly.

The researches pursued by us made it possible to find two populations of fossil tracks in stanfieldite grains. The tracks of these populations strongly differed both in size, shape and character of distribution. The first population, consisting of short (L2–6 μm instead of L8–12 μm for induced fission tracks), round-shaped tracks irregularly distributed, as we suppose, suffered an intense heating process, which caused a significant amount of partial annealing. The second population, consisting of longer (L8–12 μm), rhombic-shaped tracks homogeneously distributed, occurred after this thermal event. Only the second population track density was used for the fission-track age calculation.

After correction of the fossil track density, consisting of the second population tracks, for other possible track sources, the revealed tracks were unequivocally identified as those due to the spontaneous fission of 244Pu and 238U. The largest part of them was attributed to the spontaneous fission of 244Pu; ρPuU≈3. The model fission-track age of the studied pallasite turned out to be 4.20 Gyr. This value fix the time of the last shock/thermal event in the cosmic history of the Bragin pallasite, which had caused the partial annealing of tracks presented to that time and “fission-track clock” reset.  相似文献

A new scheme of small compact optical frequency standard based on thermal calcium beam with application of 423 nm shelving detection and sharp-angle velocity selection detection is proposed. Combining these presented techniques, we conclude that a small compact optical frequency standard based on thermal calcium beam will outperform the commercial caesium-beam microwave dock, like the 5071 Cs clock (from Hp to Agilent, now Symmetricom company), both in accuracy and stability.  相似文献

An exhaustive numerical investigation of the growth of magnetic films in confined (d+1)-dimensional stripped geometries (d=1,2) is carried out by means of extensive Monte Carlo simulations. Films in contact with a thermal bath at temperature T, are grown by adding spins having two possible orientations and considering ferromagnetic (nearest-neighbor) interactions. At low temperatures, thin films of thickness L are constituted by a sequence of well-ordered domains of average length lDL. These domains have opposite magnetization. So, the films exhibit “spontaneous magnetization reversal” during the growth process. Such reversal occurs within a short characteristic length lR, such that lDlRL. Furthermore, it is found that for d=1 the system is non-critical, while a continuous order-disorder phase transition at finite temperature takes place in the d=2 case. Using standard finite-size scaling procedures, the critical temperature and some relevant critical exponents are determined. Finally, the growth of magnetic films in (2+1) dimensions with competing short-range magnetic fields acting along the confinement walls is studied. Due to the antisymmetric condition considered, an interface between domains with spins having opposite orientation develops along the growing direction. Such an interface undergoes a localization–delocalization transition that is the precursor of a wetting transition in the thermodynamic limit. Furthermore, the growing interface also undergoes morphological transitions in the growth mode. A comparison between the well-studied equilibrium Ising model and the studied irreversible magnetic growth model is performed throughout. Although valuable analogies are encountered, it is found that the non-equilibrium nature of the latter introduces new and rich physical features of interest.  相似文献

Local detection of ferromagnetic resonance in magnetically ordered materials is achieved by local thermal modulation of the microwave resonance absorption with a scanning thermal microscope. A scanning thermal microwave resonance microscope was constructed based on a microwave bridge with an X-band cavity and a thermal nano-probe contacted to the sample at the wall of the cavity. The technique has been tested on an epitaxial iron film which exhibited lateral inhomogeneities due to a partial oxidation of iron. Different types of oxidation could be distinguished. The locally resolved ferromagnetic resonance spectra are compared with the result of an integral measurement using conventional detection techniques of the ferromagnetic resonance with the same set-up. The lateral resolution achievable with the thermally modulated ferromagnetic resonance measurements was about 200 nm for the investigated iron film.  相似文献

Mechanochemical effects on the formation of Mg---O---Ti complex and microwave dielectric properties of MgTiO3 oxides were studied using several different starting materials. Single phase MgTiO3 powder was obtained after heating (900 °C, 2 h) the mechanically activated precursor from a mixture of two unitary powders, magnesium hydroxide and anatase (MP). Formation of MgTiO3 on subsequent thermal treatment was significantly accelerated by incipient mechanochemical interaction. The Q value of the ceramics sintered at 1350 °C for 2 h from MP was higher than those of three other ceramics due to the uniformity of the microstructure and phase.  相似文献

The “vehicular effects” of chain segment motion on ionic diffusion in solid polymer electrolytes have been investigated via numerical simulation on a two-dimensional square lattice where the dynamical variation of chain configuration is presented by translational or rotational bond movement. It is found that (a) both types of bond motion promote continuous diffusion when the fraction (p) of available bonds is below the static percolation threshold of p=0.5 in two dimensions; (b) translational motion of bonds parallel to the direction of diffusion produces larger diffusion coefficients (D) than that by random renewal of the dynamic bond percolation model (DBPM), while the perpendicular motion or rotational motion gives smaller values of D; (c) Smooth lines instead of “stair-case like” curves generated by DBPM are obtained in the mean-squared displacement versus time plot, when bonds are shifting along the diffusion route. The dependence of diffusion coefficients on the variation of motion patterns of bonds is expected to be related to the temperature change under which these patterns are excited accordingly, such that VTF behavior of certain polymer electrolytes may be deduced.  相似文献

Effects of thermal and low intensity ultrasound combined with heat (LIUH) pretreatment prior to microwave vacuum drying on enzyme inactivation, color changes and nutrition quality properties of dried daylilies were investigated. The peroxidase (POD), ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO) thermal and LIUH (0.2 and 0.4 W/cm2) inactivation were determined and compared at 70, 80 and 90 °C. Significant reduction in the POD, AAO and PPO activity was seen in daylilies after an ambient LIUH pretreatment than thermal pretreatment. POD, AAO and PPO thermal and LIUH inactivation followed the first order kinetics. LIUH pretreatment had a more positive influence on maintaining color of dried daylilies than thermal pretreatment. Furthermore, LIUH pretreatment resulted in a significant increase in chlorophylls, carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin and β-carotene), and a decrease in degree of browning and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) when compared with thermal pretreatment. The antioxidant activity and contents of several nutritional components of dried daylilies pretreated by LIUH were also higher than that of dried daylilies pretreated by thermal pretreatment. This study provides a basis for the design of LIUH conditions to control vegetables browning and color changes prior to drying processing.  相似文献

利用稳态电热拉曼技术测量了碳纳米管纤维对流换热环境下的导热系数. 该方法基于材料拉曼信号与温度之间的关系, 实时探测一维材料在不同电加热(内热源)下的中心点温度, 利用对流环境下的稳态导热模型推导出材料的导热系数, 实现了一维微纳材料热物性的无损化和非接触式测量. 实验发现: 碳纳米管纤维的导热系数远低于单根碳纳米管的导热系数, 但高于碳纳米管堆积床的导热系数. 这表明碳纳米管体材料的热物性主要取决于内部管束的列阵和管束间的接触热阻.  相似文献

The quasi-SU(3) symmetry was uncovered in full pf and sdg shell-model calculations for both even–even and odd–even nuclei. It manifests itself through a dominance of single-particle and quadrupole–quadrupole terms in a Hamiltonian used to describe well-deformed nuclei. A practical consequence of the quasi-SU(3) symmetry is an efficient basis truncation scheme. In [C.E. Vargas et al., Phys. Rev. C 58 (1998) 1488] it is shown that when this type of Hamiltonian is diagonalized in an SU(3) basis, only a few irreducible representations (irreps) of SU(3) are needed to describe the yrast band, the leading S=0 irrep augmented with the leading S=1 irreps in the proton and neutron subspaces. In the present article the quasi-SU(3) truncation scheme is used, in conjunction with a “realistic but schematic” Hamiltonian that includes the most important multipole terms, to describe the energy spectra and B(E2) transition strengths of 20,22Ne, 24Mg and 28Si. The effect of the size of the Hilbert space on both sets of observables is discussed, as well as the structure of the yrast band and the importance of the various terms in the Hamiltonian. The limitations of the model are explicitly discussed.  相似文献

针对矩形肋片热沉, 分别以最大热阻最小化和基于(火积)耗散定义的当量热阻最小化为优化目标, 采用二维传热模型并结合有限元数值仿真对其进行构形优化, 比较了两种目标下的热沉最优构形, 并分析了全局参数(综合了对流换热系数、肋片占据的总面积及其热导率的函数)和材料占比对两种目标(最大热阻、当量热阻)及其对应最优构形的影响. 结果表明: 热沉外形固定时, 两种目标下均不存在最优的肋片厚度; 热沉外形自由变化时, 两种目标下的最优构形存在一定的差异. 此外, 全局参数对两种目标下的最优构形均没有影响, 而材料占比对两种目标下的最优构形均有较大影响. 提高全局参数和材料占比均可以减小最大热阻最小值和当量热阻最小值, 但对两种目标的减小程度不同. 总体上, 调节热沉结构参数使当量热阻最小, 可以同时获得很好的局部极限性能; 而调节热沉结构参数使最大热阻最小, 获得的整体平均散热性能却较差. 因此, 对本文热沉模型进行优化时, 以当量热阻最小化为优化目标更合理.  相似文献

Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is a novel method for food pasteurization, but there is still room for improvement in terms of the process shortening and its use in products with high oil content. This study addressed the effect of high power ultrasound (HPU) on the intensification of the SC-CO2 inactivation of E. coli and B. diminuta in soybean oil-in-water emulsions. Inactivation kinetics were obtained at different pressures (100 and 350 bar), temperatures (35 and 50 °C) and oil contents (0, 10, 20 and 30%) and were satisfactorily described using the Weibull model. The experimental results showed that for SC-CO2 treatments, the higher the pressure or the temperature, the higher the level of inactivation. Ultrasound greatly intensified the inactivation capacity of SC-CO2, shortening the process time by approximately 1 order of magnitude (from 50 to 90 min to 5–10 min depending on the microorganism and process conditions). Pressure and temperature also had a significant (p < 0.05) effect on SC-CO2 + HPU inactivation for both bacteria, although the effect was less intense than in the SC-CO2 treatments. E. coli was found to be more resistant than B. diminuta in SC-CO2 treatments, while no differences were found when HPU was applied. HPU decreased the protective effect of oil in the inactivation and similar microbial reductions were obtained regardless of the oil content in the emulsion. Therefore, HPU intensification of SC-CO2 treatments is a promising alternative to the thermal pasteurization of lipid emulsions with heat sensitive compounds.  相似文献

We calculate the potential between “quarks” which are in the adjoint representation of SU(2) color in the three-dimensional lattice theory. We work in the scaling region of the theory and at large quark separations R. We also calculate the masses MQg of color-singlet bound states formed by coupling an adjoint quark to adjoint glue (“gluelumps”). Good scaling behavior is found for the masses of both magnetic (angular momentum J = 0) and electric (J = 1) gluelumps, and the magnetic gluelump is found to be the lowest-lying state. It is naively expected that the potential for adjoint quarks should saturate above a separation Rscr where it becomes energetically favorable to produce a pair of gluelumps. We obtain a good estimate of the naive screening distance Rscr. However we find little evidence of saturation in the potential out to separations R of about 1.5Rscr.  相似文献
