The ongoing study of our previous work1-4 led to the isolation of four new taxoids from the barks of Taxus yunnanensis. Two new sesquiterpene lactones named amberbins A (1) and B (2), have been isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Amberboa ramosa, together with jaseocidine (3), crysoeriol (4) and 3beta,8alpha-dihydroxy-11alpha-methyl-1alphaH,5alphaH,6betaH, 7alphaH,11betaH-guai-10(14), 4(15)-dien-6,12-olide (5). The genus Lagotis (Scrophulariaceae) is represented with 17 species in China, mostly growing in the south western part of the country on mountains of 3000 meters above sea level or higher. [1] Several species such as L.glauca, L. integra, L. brachystachya, and L. yunnanensis are used in Tibetan folkloric medicine for the treatment of fever, high blood pressure, and acute and chronic hepatitis. [2,3] As part of our studies of medicinal plants growing on the Yunnan-Tibet Plateau, L. yunnanensis W. W. Smith has been examined. The stereochemistries of badkhyzin, isobadkhyzin, ferulidin, and ferulin, guaianolides fromFerula oopoda (Boiss. et Buhse) Boiss. have been established. The stereochemistries of badkhyzin and of 8-hydroxyachillin (at C-5, C-6, C-7, C-8, C-11) are identical. When the lactone ring is opened with alkalis, badkhyzin isomerizes only at the C-6 center. V. Six indole alkaloids were isolated from the stems of Ervatamia yunnanensis. Among them, yunnanensine (I) is new. The other five are known alkaloids, namely: 19,20-E-vallesamine (II), 19s-heyneanine (HI), ibogaine (IV), ibogamine (V), coronaridine (VI). Three new indole alkaloids, 10‐methoxy‐16‐de(methoxycarbonyl)pagicerine ( 1 ), (5β)‐17‐O‐deacetyl‐5,11‐dimethoxyakuammiline ( 2 ), and ((16S,19E)‐N1‐(hydroxymethyl)isositsirikine ( 3 ) were isolated from the roots of Rauvolfia yunnanensis, together with seven known alkaloids. The phytochemical investigation on the ethanolic extracts of the barks of Taxus yunnanensis (Taxaceae) led to the isolation of two new neo-lignans, named taxuyunins A (1) and B (2), along with the known diterpenolignan, brevitaxin (3). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidences.
