On the decay of solutions to the 2D Neumann exterior problem for the wave equation

We consider the exterior problem in the plane for the wave equation with a Neumann boundary condition and study the asymptotic behavior of the solution for large times. For possible application we are interested to show a decay estimate which does not involve weighted norms of the initial data. In the paper we prove such an estimate, by a combination of the estimate of the local energy decay and decay estimates for the free space solution.     

Schatten class weighted composition operators on weighted Fock spaces

We describe the Schatten class weighted composition operators on Fock–Sobolev spaces and a large class of weighted Fock spaces, where the weights defining such spaces are radial, decay at least as fast as the classical Gaussian weight, and satisfy certain mild smoothness condition. To prove our main results, we characterize the Schatten class membership of the Toeplitz operators T _μ induced by nonnegative measures μ on the complex space ${\mathbb{C}^n}$ .     

Emptiness formation probability of XX-chain in diffusion process

We study the distribution of emptiness formation probability of XX-model in the diffusion process. There exits a Gaussian decay as well as an exponential decay. The Gaussian decay is caused by the existence of zero point in the Fermi distribution function. The correlation length for each point of scaling factor varies up to the initial condition, monotonically or non-monotonically.     

Norm Inequalities for Fractional Integral Operators on Generalized Weighted Morrey Spaces

Considering a class of operators which include fractional integrals related to operators with Gaussian kernel bounds,the fractional integral operators with rough kernels and fractional maximal operators with rough kernels as special cases,we prove that if these operators are bounded on weighted Lebesgue spaces and satisfy some local pointwise control,then these operators and the commutators of these operators with a BMO functions are also bounded on generalized weighted Morrey spaces.

Completion of R2 with a Conformal Metric as a Closed Surface

In this paper,we obtain some asymptotic behavior results for solutions to the prescribed Gaussian curvature equation.Moreover,we prove that under a con-formal metric in R2,if the total Gaussian curvature is 4π,the conformal area of R2 is finite and the Gaussian curvature is bounded,then R2 is a compact C1,α surface after completion at ∞,for any α ∈(0,1).If the Gaussian curvature has a Holder decay at in-finity,then the completed surface is C2.For radial solutions,the same regularity holds if the Gaussian curvature has a limit at infinity.     

Remarks on asymptotic behaviors of strong solutions to a viscous Boussinesq system

In this paper, we first address the space‐time decay properties for higher‐order derivatives of strong solutions to the Boussinesq system in the usual Sobolev space. The decay rates obtained here are optimal. The proof is based on a parabolic interpolation inequality, bootstrap argument, and some weighted estimates. Secondly, we present a new solution integration formula for the Boussinesq system, which will be employed to establish the existence of strong solutions for small initial data in some scaling invariant function spaces. The smallness conditions are somehow weaker than those presented by Brandolese and Schonbek. We further investigate the asymptotic profiles and decay properties of these strong solutions. A generalized interpolation inequality and its application to the stabilization of damped equations

In this paper, we establish a generalized Hölder's or interpolation inequality for weighted spaces in which the weights are non-necessarily homogeneous. We apply it to the stabilization of some damped wave-like evolution equations. This allows obtaining explicit decay rates for smooth solutions for more general classes of damping operators. In particular, for 1−d models, we can give an explicit decay estimate for pointwise damping mechanisms supported on any strategic point.     

Goodness-of-Fit Tests for the Inverse Gaussian Distribution Based on the Empirical Laplace Transform

This paper considers two flexible classes of omnibus goodness-of-fit tests for the inverse Gaussian distribution. The test statistics are weighted integrals over the squared modulus of some measure of deviation of the empirical distribution of given data from the family of inverse Gaussian laws, expressed by means of the empirical Laplace transform. Both classes of statistics are connected to the first nonzero component of Neyman's smooth test for the inverse Gaussian distribution. The tests, when implemented via the parametric bootstrap, maintain a nominal level of significance very closely. A large-scale simulation study shows that the new tests compare favorably with classical goodness-of-fit tests for the inverse Gaussian distribution, based on the empirical distribution function.     

Isoperimetric estimates for the first eigenfunction of a class of linear elliptic problems

We find some optimal estimates for the first eigenfunction of a class of elliptic equations whose prototype is with Dirichlet boundary condition, where γ is the normalized Gaussian function in . To this aim we make use of the Gaussian symmetrization which transforms a domain into an half-space with the same Gaussian measure. The main tools we use are the properties of the weighted rearrangements and in particular the isoperimetric inequality with respect to Gaussian measure. On Gaussian decay estimates of solutions to some linear elliptic equations and their applications

In this paper we establish pointwise decay estimates of solutions to some linear elliptic equations by using the Nash–Moser iteration arguments and the ODE method. As applications we obtain sharp Gaussian decay estimates for solutions to nonlinear elliptic equations that are related with self-similar solutions to nonlinear heat equations and standing wave solutions to nonlinear Schrödinger equations with harmonic potential.     

Hankel Operators on Fock Spaces and Related Bergman Kernel Estimates

Hankel operators with anti-holomorphic symbols are studied for a large class of weighted Fock spaces on ? ⁿ . The weights defining these Hilbert spaces are radial and subject to a mild smoothness condition. In addition, it is assumed that the weights decay at least as fast as the classical Gaussian weight. The main result of the paper says that a Hankel operator on such a Fock space is bounded if and only if the symbol belongs to a certain BMOA space, defined via the Berezin transform. The latter space coincides with a corresponding Bloch space which is defined by means of the Bergman metric. This characterization of boundedness relies on certain precise estimates for the Bergman kernel and the Bergman metric. Characterizations of compact Hankel operators and Schatten class Hankel operators are also given. In the latter case, results on Carleson measures and Toeplitz operators along with Hörmander’s L ² estimates for the $\bar{\partial}$ operator are key ingredients in the proof.     

Blowup and decay behavior of solutions to the generalized Boussinesq‐type equation with strong damping

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for the generalized Boussinesq‐type equation with strong damping. By defining a suitable solution space with time‐weighted norms and under smallness condition on the initial data, we establish the global existence and decay property of the solutions. Under certain conditions on the initial data, we also provide blowup of the solutions.     

Refinable Functions with Exponential Decay: An?Approach via Cascade Algorithms

Refinable functions with exponential decay arise from applications such as the Butterworth filters in signal processing. Refinable functions with exponential decay also play an important role in the study of Riesz bases of wavelets generated from multiresolution analysis. A fundamental problem is whether the standard solution of a refinement equation with an exponentially decaying mask has exponential decay. We investigate this fundamental problem by considering cascade algorithms in weighted L _p spaces (1≤p≤∞). We give some sufficient conditions for the cascade algorithm associated with an exponentially decaying mask to converge in weighted L _p spaces. Consequently, we prove that the refinable functions associated with the Butterworth filters are continuous functions with exponential decay. By analyzing spectral properties of the transition operator associated with an exponentially decaying mask, we find a characterization for the corresponding refinable function to lie in weighted L ₂ spaces. The general theory is applied to an interesting example of bivariate refinable functions with exponential decay, which can be viewed as an extension of the Butterworth filters.     

Decay property of regularity-loss type of solutions in elastic solids with voids

In this article, we consider two porous systems of nonclassical thermoelasticity in the whole real line. We discuss the long-time behaviour of the solutions in the presence of a strong damping acting, together with the heat effect, on the elastic equation and establish several decay results. Those decay results are shown to be very slow and of regularity-loss type. Some improvements of the decay rates have also been given, provided that the initial data belong to some weighted spaces.

Further spectral properties of the weighted finite Fourier transform operator and approximation in weighted Sobolev spaces

In this work, we first give some mathematical preliminaries concerning the generalized prolate spheroidal wave function (GPSWF). This set of special functions have been defined as the infinite and countable set of the eigenfunctions of a weighted finite Fourier transform operator. Then, we show that the set of the singular values of this operator has a super‐exponential decay rate. We also give some local estimates and bounds of these GPSWFs. As an application of the spectral properties of the GPSWFs and their associated eigenvalues, we give their quality of approximation in a weighted Sobolev space. Finally, we provide the reader with some numerical examples that illustrate the different results of this work.     

Asymptotic behavior of weighted multivariate Cramér-von Mises-type statistics under contiguous alternatives

In this paper, we study the behavior of the weighted quadratic functionals of the multivariate empirical copula processes under sequences of contiguous alternatives. The Karhunen-Loève expansions of the corresponding limiting Gaussian processes are derived by using the results, in a series of papers, by Deheuvels, which are used to obtain the asymptotic distribution of the weighted multivariate Cramér-von Mises-type statistics. These results are applied to compute the relative local asymptotic efficiency of the considered statistics, in the spirit of Genest et al. (2006, 2007), and discuss briefly some aspects regarding the power of these statistical tests. Finally, we give some additional results concerning the integrated copula processes.

Average sampling and reconstruction for reproducing kernel stochastic signals

This paper mainly considers the problem of reconstructing a reproducing kernel stochastic signal from its average samples. First, a uniform convergence result for reconstructing the deterministic reproducing kernel signals by an iterative algorithm is established. Then, we prove that the quadratic sum of the corresponding reconstructed functions is uniformly bounded. Moreover, the reconstructed functions provide a frame expansion in the special case p = 2. Finally, the mean square convergence for recovering a weighted reproducing kernel stochastic signal from its average samples is given under some decay condition for the autocorrelation function, which can be removed for the case p = 2.
