p-Laplacian boundary value problems on exterior regions

This paper treats some variational principles for solutions of inhomogeneous p  -Laplacian boundary value problems on exterior regions U?R^N$U?{\mathbb{R}}^N$ with dimension N?3$N?3$. Existence-uniqueness results when p∈(1,N)$p\in (1,N)$ are provided in a space E^1,p(U)$E^{1,p}(U)$ of functions that contains W^1,p(U)$W^{1,p}(U)$. Functions in E^1,p(U)$E^{1,p}(U)$ are required to decay at infinity in a measure theoretic sense. Various properties of this space are derived, including results about equivalent norms, traces and an L^p$L^p$-imbedding theorem. Also an existence result for a general variational problem of this type is obtained.     

On the nonexistence of a relation between σ-left-porosity and σ-right-porosity

Given an arbitrarily weak notion of left-〈f〉$〈f〉$-porosity and an arbitrarily strong notion of right-〈g〉$〈g〉$-porosity, we construct an example of closed subset of R$\mathbb{R}$ which is not σ  -left-〈f〉$〈f〉$-porous and is right-〈g〉$〈g〉$-porous. We also briefly summarize the relations between three different definitions of porosity controlled by a function; we then observe that our construction gives the example for any combination of these definitions of left-porosity and right-porosity.     

p-embeddings

This is the sequel to Bhattacharjee et al. (in press) [3] where the notion of a p  -extension of commutative rings was investigated: a unital extension of commutative rings, say R?S$R?S$, is a p  -extension if for every s∈S$s\in S$ there is an r∈R$r\in R$ such that rS=sS$rS=sS$. In this article we apply the theory of p  -extensions to rings of continuous functions. We show that this concept lays between the concepts of C^?$C^{?}$-embeddings and z-embeddings.
