The matching theorems in G-convex spaces with applications

The purpose of this paper is to establish some new matching theorems in G-convex spaces and, as applications, to obtain some new fixed point theorems, section theorems and a minimax theorem in G-convex spaces. The results presented in this paper improve and generalize the corresponding results in [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11] and [12].     

Some new extensions of Edelstein-Suzuki-type fixed point theorem to G-metric and G-cone metric spaces

In this paper, we prove some fixed point theorems for generalized contractions in the setting of G-metric spaces. Our results extend a result of Edelstein [M. Edelstein, On fixed and periodic points under contractive mappings, J. London Math. Soc., 37 (1962), 74–79] and a result of Suzuki [T. Suzuki, A new type of fixed point theorem in metric spaces, Nonlinear Anal., 71 (2009), 5313–5317]. We prove, also, a fixed point theorem in the setting of G-cone metric spaces.     

A note on the (G′/G)-expansion method again

We report an observation on two recent analytic methods; the (G′/G)-expansion method and the simplest equation method.     

Analysis of an M/G/∞ queue with batch arrivals and batch-dedicated servers

We analyze an M/G/∞ queue with batch arrivals, where jobs belonging to a batch have to be processed by the same server. The number of jobs in the system is characterized as a compound Poisson random variable through a scaling of the original arrival and batch size processes.     

Fluid model driven by an M/G/1 queue with multiple exponential vacations

This paper studies a fluid model driven by an M/G/1 queue with multiple exponential vacations. By introducing various vacation strategies to the fluid model, we can provide greater flexibility for the design and control of input rate and output rate. The Laplace transform of the steady-state distribution of the buffer content is expressed through the minimal positive solution to a crucial equation. Then the performance measure-mean buffer content, which is independent of the vacation parameter, is obtained. Finally, with some numerical examples, the parameter effect on the mean buffer content is presented.     

Generalized G-KKM Theorems in Generalized Convex Spaces and Their Applications

Some new generalized G-KKM and generalized S-KKM theorems are proved under the noncompact setting of generalized convex spaces. As applications, some new minimax inequalities, saddle point theorems, a coincidence theorem, and a fixed point theorem are given in generalized convex spaces. These theorems improve and generalize many important known results in recent literature.     

Design and G connection of developable surfaces through Bézier geodesics

For potential application in shoemaking and garment manufacture industries, the G¹ connection of (1, k) developable surfaces with abutting geodesic is important. In this paper, we discuss the developable surface which contains a given 3D Bézier curve as geodesic and prove the corresponding conclusions in detail. Primarily we study G¹ connection of developable surfaces through abutting cubic Bézier geodesics and give some examples.     

On G continuous interpolatory composite quadratic Bézier curves

In the paper the interpolation by G² continuous composite quadratic Bézier curves is studied. It is shown that the interpolation problem can be naturally posed correctly in such a way that a smooth curve f is approximated up to the order 4, i.e., one order more than in the corresponding function case. In addition, the tangent direction of f is approximated up to order 3, and the curvature up to order 2.     

Parallel and k-out-of-n: G systems with nonidentical components and their mean residual life functions

A system with n independent components which has a k-out-of-n: G structure operates if at least k components operate. Parallel systems are 1-out-of-n: G systems, that is, the system goes out of service when all of its components fail. This paper investigates the mean residual life function of systems with independent and nonidentically distributed components. Some examples related to some lifetime distribution functions are given. We present a numerical example for evaluating the relationship between the mean residual life of the k-out-of-n: G system and that of its components.     

Algorithm for a general discrete k-out-of-n: G system subject to several types of failure with an indefinite number of repairpersons

A discrete k-out-of-n: G system with multi-state components is modelled by means of block-structured Markov chains. An indefinite number of repairpersons are assumed and PH distributions for the lifetime of the units and for the repair time are considered. The units can undergo two types of failures, repairable or non-repairable. The repairability of the failure can depend on the time elapsed up to failure. The system is modelled and the stationary distribution is built by using matrix analytic methods. Several performance measures of interest, such as the conditional probability of failure for the units and for the system, are built into the transient and stationary regimes. Rewards are included in the model. All results are shown in a matrix algorithmic form and are implemented computationally with Matlab. A numerical example of an optimization problem shows the versatility of the model.     

Some generalizations of theorems on vertex coloring

This paper extends two classical theorems on a vertex coloring: König's theorem on bipartite graphs and the Szekeres-Wilf theorem.     

Common fixed point theorems for three maps in discontinuous Gb metric spaces

In [Aghajani A, Abbas M, Roshan JR. Common fixed point of generalized weak contractive mappings in partially ordered G_b-metric spaces. Filomat, 2013, in press], using the concepts of G-metric and b-metric Aghajani et al. defined a new type of metric which is called generalized b-metric or G_b-metric. In this paper, we prove a common fixed point theorem for three mappings in G_b-metric space which is not continuous. An example is presented to verify the effectiveness and applicability of our main result.     

Iterative process for G-multi degree reduction of Bézier curves

In this paper, the issue of multi-degree reduction of Bézier curves with C¹ and G²-continuity at the end points of the curve is considered. An iterative method, which is the first of this type, is derived. It is shown that this algorithm converges and can be applied iteratively to get the required accuracy. Some examples and figures are given to demonstrate the efficiency of this method.     

W-G-F-KKM mapping, intersection theorems and minimax inequalities in FC-space

By using basic KKM theorem, a new matching theorem and some minimax inequalities for set-valued mappings defined on the FC-spaces are proved under very weak assumptions. These results generalized many known results from the recent literature.     

Some fixed-point theorems and minimax inequalities in FC-space

By applying the existence theorem of maximal elements, some new collectively fixed-point theorems for a family of set-valued mappings defined on the product space of noncompact FC-space are proved and some new theorems about minimax inequality involving two functions are given to show the relations of fixed-point theorem and minimax inequality in FC-spaces. These results improve and generalize many important results in the recent literature.     

G cubic transition between two circles with shape control

This paper describes a method for joining two circles with an S-shaped or with a broken back C-shaped transition curve, composed of at most two spiral segments. In highway and railway route design or car-like robot path planning, it is often desirable to have such a transition. It is shown that a single cubic curve can be used for blending or for a transition curve preserving G²$G^2$ continuity with local shape control parameter and more flexible constraints. Provision of the shape parameter and flexibility provide freedom to modify the shape in a stable manner which is an advantage over previous work by Meek, Walton, Sakai and Habib.     

Frobenius splitting and geometry of G-Schubert varieties

Let X be an equivariant embedding of a connected reductive group G over an algebraically closed field k of positive characteristic. Let B denote a Borel subgroup of G. A G-Schubert variety in X is a subvariety of the form diag(G)⋅V, where V is a B×B-orbit closure in X. In the case where X is the wonderful compactification of a group of adjoint type, the G-Schubert varieties are the closures of Lusztig's G-stable pieces. We prove that X admits a Frobenius splitting which is compatible with all G-Schubert varieties. Moreover, when X is smooth, projective and toroidal, then any G-Schubert variety in X admits a stable Frobenius splitting along an ample divisors. Although this indicates that G-Schubert varieties have nice singularities we present an example of a nonnormal G-Schubert variety in the wonderful compactification of a group of type G₂. Finally we also extend the Frobenius splitting results to the more general class of R-Schubert varieties.     

KKM type theorems and generalized vector equilibrium problems in noncompact FC-spaces

A new KKM type theorem is first proved under noncompact setting of FC-spaces. As applications of the KKM type theorem, we establish some new existence theorems of solutions for generalized vector equilibrium problems under noncompact setting of FC-spaces. These theorems improve and generalize many known results in literature.
