An improved version of Nakamura's self-dual Yang-Mills hierarchy is presentd and its symmetry contents are studied. The new hierarchy as well as the previous one represents a set of commuting dynamical flows in an infinite dimensional manifolds of loop type, but includes a large set of dependent variables. Because of new degrees of freedom the theory acquires a more symmetric form with richer structures. For example it allows a large symmetry algebra of Riemann-Hilbert type, which is actually a direct sum of two subalgebras (left and right). This phenomenon is basically the same as observed recently by Avan and Bellon on the case of principal chiral models. In addition to these rather familiar symmeties, a new type of symmetries referred to as coordinate transformation type are also introduced. Generators of the above dynamical flows are all included therein. These two types of symmetries altogether form a big Lie algebra, which lead to more satisfactory understanding of symmetry properties of integrable systems of guage fields.  相似文献

We give a classification of the Kac-Moody current algebras of all the possible massless fermion-gauge theories in two dimensions. It is shown that only Kac-Moody algebras based on AN, BN, CN, and DN in the Cartan classification with all possible central charge occur. The representation of local fermion fields and simply laced Kac-Moody algebras with minimal central charge in terms of free boson fields on a compactified space is discussed in detail, where stress is laid on the role played by the boundary conditions on the various collective modes. Fractional solitons and the possible soliton representation of certain nonsimply laced algebras is also analysed. We briefly discuss the relationship between the massless bound state sector of these two-dimensioned gauge theories and the critically coupled two-dimensional nonlinear sigma model, which share the same current algebra. Finally we briefly discuss the relevance of Sp(n) Kac-Moody algebras to the physics of monopole-fermion systems.  相似文献

In the temporal gauge formalism, in order to make a distinction between the global limit of local gauge transformations and global ones a non-local operator, θ, is introduced. It is claimed that what kind of θ is used is equivalent to what kind of gauge-fixing schemes is chosen. Along this idea, in non-abelian theories the coulomb, axial and unitary gauges have been investigated. In the unitary gauge spontaneous breakdown of global gauge symmetry has been found to be reduced to a problem of the boundary condition for the Higgs field and the occurrence of symmetry breaking has been concluded.  相似文献

Properties of the effective gauge couplings renormalized at finite temperature and density in thermal non-abelian gauge field theories are studied within one-loop approximations. Strong and severe vertex dependence is shown to come out both in the temperature and chemical potential dependences. Difficulties appearing in the perturbative calculation of physical quantities, indicated by the above disaster, are discussed. Also discussed is what insight might be gained from the present analysis into the “magnetic” screening of effective charge.  相似文献

We propose a general formulation of simplicial lattice gauge theory inspired by the finite element method. Numerical tests of convergence towards continuum results are performed for several SU(2) gauge fields. Additionally, we perform simplicial Monte Carlo quantum gauge field simulations involving measurements of the action as well as differently sized Wilson loops as functions of β.  相似文献

The time-independent residual gauge invariance of Hamiltonian lattice gauge theories is considered. Eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the unperturbed Hamiltonian are found in terms of Gegenbauer's polynomials. The static potential between a fermion and an anti-fermion in a group singlet state is calculated, through two loops, in the radiation gauge first order formalism. The results of this calculation imply that the Coulomb propagator is not sufficient to determine the static potential: a new function of the coupling constant αs(?t) is also required.  相似文献

A bicovariant calculus of differential operators on a quantum group is constructed in a natural way, using invariant maps from Fun toU q g, given by elements of the pure braid group. These operators—the reflection matrixYL + SL being a special case—generate algebras that linearly close under adjoint actions, i.e. they form generalized Lie algebras. We discuss renormalization of an O(3) gauge model with the gauge fixing term given by ℒg.f.=-1/ζ|(∂μ-igA 3 μ )W |2-(1/2α)(∂A 3)2. We utilize earlier results on the general theory of renormalization of gauge theories in quadratic gauges to prove multiplicative renormalizability of the theory together with a subtractive renormalization of gauge fixing and ghost terms. We show that this model has a double BRS invariance and that it is preserved under renormalization.  相似文献
