Synthesis and Properties of Lanthanum– Pyrene Complexes—Structure of [(Cp*La)3(μ-Cl)3(thf)(μ-η2:η6:η6-C16H10)], the First Complex with a Pyrene Trianion

Different bonding modes are characteristic for the lanthanum centers of the title compound, a trinuclear lanthanum–pyrene complex in which an arene trianion is present for the first time (see picture for the structure). Thus, La1 and La3 reside in a tetrahedral environment, the La2 center in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal one.     

Unprecedented μ-η2:η2-Pyrazolate Coordination in [{Yb(η2-tBu2pz)(μ-η2:η2-tBu2pz)(thf)}2]

A higher degree of coordination saturation is attainable through the unusual coordination mode in the title compound 1 , in which the central pyrazolate groups function both as chelating and as bridging ligands. There is some asymmetry in the bridging, and the N atoms of each μ-η²:η²-pyrazolato ligand are 0.07–0.11 Å closer to one of the two Yb centers.     

Synthesis and characterization of tris(η~5-cyclopentadienyl-μ-carbonyliron)-μ_3-nitrosyl cluster:X-ray structure of[(η~5-C_5H_5)(μ-CO)Fe]_3(μ3-NO).C_4H_8O

Tris)(η 5-cyclopentadienyl-μ-carbonyl-iron)-μ3-nitrosyl cluster was obtained from the reaction of cyclopentadienyl dicarbonyliron dimer with nitrogen monoxide in xylene. The cluster was characterized by elemental analyses, IR, MS and 1H NMR. The crystal structure of [(η5-C5H5)(μ-CO)Fe]3(μ3-NO).C4H8O was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma, a=9.053(2), 6=10.545(2), c=22.525(4) A, V=2150.3(7) A3, Z=4,Dc=1.68 g.cm-3; structure solution and refinement based on 1141 reflections with I > 3.0 (I) (MoKa, A=0.71073 A) converged at R=0.0540. The infrared absorption band at 1325 cm-1 of the μ3-NO in the cluster, which is red shifted, shows that μ3-NO is activated.

Molecular and Crystal Structures of (CO)₄W(μ-S-t-C₄H₉)₂W(CO)₄, η⁷-C₇H₇W(μ-SC₆H₄CH₃)₃W(CO)₃ and η⁷-C₇H₇W(μ-S-n-C₄H₉)₃W(CO)(μ-S-n-C₄H₉)₂W(CO)₄ The molecular structures of the two binuclear complexes (CO)₄W(μ-S-t-C₄H₉)₂W(CO)₄ and η⁷-C₇H₇W(μ-SC₆H₄CH₃)₃W(CO)₃ and of the tungsten cluster η⁷-C₇H₇W(μ-S-n-C₄H₉)₃W(CO)-(μ-S-n-C₄H₉)₂W(CO)₄ respectively are described. In the nonlinear trinuclear cluster the central tungsten atom is connected to the two tungsten atoms by two and three μ-S-n-C₄H₉ bridges respectively and additionally by one W? W bond each. The coordination sphere of the W atoms is completed by a η⁷-C₇H₇ ring and four CO groups respectively; the central tungsten carries an additional CO group.
