Single crystals of the title compound have been synthesized and its crystal structure has been determined. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c, Z = 2 (a = 5.3056, b = 12.976, c = 19.578 Å, = 92.583°, R = 0.029). The spatial structure of 1(10)Z, 4Z-hanphyllin has been established by the x-ray method. A new conformation of the ten-membered ring in Z, Z-germacranolides has been found - the15 D 5,1 D 14 boat-boat type. The structures of the oxygenated fatty acids of the lipids ofOnopordum acanthium L. seeds have been studied by the methods of chemical, chromatographic, and spectral analyses. The lactone of gossypolic acid, obtained by the demethylation of the tetramethyl ether of gossypolic acid, forms with acetic acid a stable complex having the 14 composition. The crystallographic parameters of single crystals are as follows:a=20.251(2) Å, b=12.028(3) Å, c=15.934(4) Å, V=3881.2(2.3) Å3,Z=4, D calc=1.32 g/cm3, sp. gr. Pbcn. The molecule is characterized by considerable strain because of the formation of the five-membered lactone ring the atoms of which are coplanar with the atoms of the naphthyl fragment. Unlike the clathrates of racemic gossypol and dianilinegossypol, the gossypolic acid lactone — acetic acid comples does not belong to the type of clathrate inclusion compounds.A. S. We have synthesized single crystals of a temary molybdate NaMg3In(MoO4)5 and cam'ed out an X-ray structural study (a KM-4 automatic difiactometer, MoK, radiation, 4503 F, R = 0.047). The triclinic unit cell dimensions are a = 7.0476(7), b = 17.935(2), c = 6.9849(7)Å, = 87.650(9), = 100.980(8), = 92.510(9)°, V= 865.5(2) A3, Z = 2, and space group P1. The crystal structure involves MoO4 tetrahedra and (Mg, In)06 octahedra forming a three-dimensional framework with Na atoms located in its cavities. (±)-15,19-Dimethyltritriacontane (II) — a component of the pheromone of the stable fly — has been obtained by a five-stage synthesis from dimethylcyclooctadiene (I). The coupling of 1,1-dimethoxy-4-methyl-8-oxonon-4Z-ene [the product of the ozonolysis of (I)] with n-C13H27CH=PPh3 (THF; –30°, 2 h; 25°, 15 h; Ar) gave 1,1-dimethoxy-4,8-dimethyldocosa-4Z,8Z(E)-diene (III). The hydrolysis of (III) (TsOH·Py, H2O-Ac, boiling, 4 h) gave the corresponding aldehyde (IV). The condensation of (IV) with n-C10H21CH=PPh3 (THF; –60° to –30°C, 2 h, 25°C, 15 h) led to 15,19-dimethyltritriaconta-11Z(E),15Z,19Z(E)-triene (V), the exhaustive hydrogenation of which (ethanol, H2, 5% Pd/C, 25°C) gave (II). The substance, the yield in %, and Rf values are given, respectively: (II), 95, 0.92; (III), 29, 0.74; (IV), 80, 0.72; (V) 50, 0.8. The quantum-chemical SCF LCAO-MO calculations have been carried out in the MNDO/H approximation for the dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) molecule, its anion [CH 3 CH 2 SO], and DMSO adducts with HCL, OH, and H2O. 1,4-dimethyl-4,5,7,8-tetrahydro-6H-imidazo[4,5-e][1,4]-diazepine-5,8-dithione was synthesized by boiling 1,4-dimethyl-4,5,7,8-tetrahydro-6H-imidazo[4,5-e][1,4]-diazepine-5,8-dione (a cyclic homolog of theobromine) with P2S5. Its molecular and crystal structures were determined by X-ray structure analysis, PMR spectroscopy and the calculations using the MM2 program. The crystals are monoclinic, sp. gr. P2 1 /n with a=9.305(4), b=9.464(3), c=11.628(3) Å, -90.49(3)o, Z=4 for C8H10N4S2. M.p. 268–269 °C. The 7-membered heterocycle has a boat conformation in the crystal, while in solution at room temperature it undergoes interconversion. The geometrical parameters of the molecule obtained by X-ray structure analysis, by PMR spectroscopy below the coalescence temperature (290 K), and by MM2 calculations are in good agreement.A. V.
