Saffman's (1985) theory of the superharmonic stability of two-dimensional irrotational waves on fluid of infinite depth has been generalized to solitary and periodic waves of permanent form on finite uniform depth. The frame of reference for the calculation of the Hamiltonian for periodic waves of finite depth is found to be the frame in which the mean horizontal velocity is zero.  相似文献

本文提供一个求解重力和表面张力同时作用的周期前进二维非线性波的新方法.自由表面在计算域转入单位圆后用有限项Fourier级数表示.动力学边界条件用的是完整的非线性形式.Fourier级数的系数用Newton-Raphson方法迭代求解.这是一个精巧的方法.所用计算工作量小而结果精度高.  相似文献

A considerable amount of information is currently available on the creation and propagation of large solitary waves in marine straits. In order to be able to analyze such data we develop a theoretical model, extending previous one-dimensional models to the case of straits with varying width and depth, and nonvanishing vorticity. Starting from the Euler equations for a three-dimensional homogeneous incompressible inviscid fluid, we derive, in the quasi-one-dimensional long-wave and shallow-water approximation, a generalized KadomtsevPetviashvili (GKP) equation, together with its appropriate boundary conditions. In general, the coefficients of this equation depend on the form of the bottom and on the vorticity; the sides of the straits figure only in the boundary conditions. Under certain restrictions on the vorticity and the geometry of the straits we reduce the GKP equation to one of several completely integrable partial differential equations, in order to study the evolution of solitons which originate in the straits.  相似文献

Exact free surface flows with shear in a compressible barotropic medium are found, extending the authors’ earlier work for the incompressible medium. The barotropic medium is of finite extent in the vertical direction, while it is infinite in the horizontal direction. The “shallow water” equations for a compressible barotropic medium, subject to boundary conditions at the free surface and at the bottom, are solved in terms of double psi-series. Simple wave and time-dependent solutions are found; for the former the free surface is of arbitrary shape while for the latter it is a damping traveling wave in the horizontal direction. For other types of solutions, the height of the free surface is constant either on lines of constant acceleration or on lines of constant speed. In the case of an isothermal medium, when γ = 1, we again find simple wave and time-dependent solutions.  相似文献

A comprehensive exact treatment of free surface flows governed by shallow water equations (in sigma variables) is given. Several new families of exact solutions of the governing PDEs are found and are shown to embed the well-known self-similar or traveling wave solutions which themselves are governed by reduced ODEs. The classes of solutions found here are explicit in contrast to those found earlier in an implicit form. The height of the free surface for each family of solutions is found explicitly. For the traveling or simple wave, the free surface is governed by a nonlinear wave equation, but is arbitrary otherwise. For other types of solutions, the height of the free surface is constant either on lines of constant acceleration or on lines of constant speed; in another case, the free surface is a horizontal plane while the flow underneath is a sine wave. The existence of simple waves on shear flows is analytically proved. The interaction of large amplitude progressive waves with shear flow is also studied.  相似文献

The Euler equations for water waves in any depth have been shown to have solitary wave solutions when the effect of surface tension is included. This paper proposes three quadratic model equations for these types of waves in infinite depth with a two-dimensional fluid domain. One model is derived directly from the Euler equations. Two further simpler models are proposed, both having the full gravity-capillary dispersion relation, but preserving exactly either a quadratic energy or a momentum. Solitary wavepacket waves are calculated for each model. Each model supports the elevation and depression waves known to exist in the Euler equations. The stability of these waves is discussed, as is the dynamics resulting from instabilities and solitary wave collisions.  相似文献

海洋表面波的3-波至5-波约化Hamilton方程由于其对称多项式简化结构以及保能量等独特优点,得到广泛应用.但是,据相关近似假设,其适用范围局限于波陡很小的弱非线性波.于是进一步探讨下述推广问题: 对一定范围内的有限幅非线性波,在足够精确意义上是否也能获得具对称多项式简化结构的约化Hamilton方程?由于涉及复杂非线性强耦合,在该重要方面至今尚未取得进展.提出基于Chebyshev(切比雪夫)多项式逼近处理精确水波方程强非线性耦合的新简化途径,导出具对称多项式简化结构的新约化Hamilton方程.新结果将波数与波陡之积为小量的弱非线性情形拓广到该积直至1.035的非线性情形.分析表明,在该范围内新结果的误差不超过5%,特别,当前述积邻近于0.9时新结果给出精确结果.  相似文献

A different approach to finding solutions of certain diffusive-dispersive nonlinear evolution equations is introduced. The method consists of a straightforward iteration procedure, which is carried to all terms, followed by a summation of the resulting infinite series. Sometimes this is done directly and other times in terms of inverses of operators in an appropriate space. We first illustrate the method with Burgers's and Thomas's equations, and show how it quickly leads to the Cole-Hopf and Thomas transformations which linearize these equations. The method is described in detail with the Korteweg-de Vries equation and then applied to the modified KdV, sine-Gordon, nonlinear (cubic) Schrödinger, complex modified KdV and Boussinesq equations. In all these cases the multisoliton solutions are easily obtained, and new expressions for some of them follow. More generally, the Mar?enko integral equations, together with the inverse problem that originates them, follow naturally from the approach. A method for modifying known solutions (in a way different from the known Backlund transformations) is also developed. Thus, for example, formulas for the interaction of solitons with an arbitrary given solution are obtained. Other equations tractable by this approach are presented. These include the vector-valued cubic Schrödinger equation and a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Higher-order and matrix-valued equations with nonscalar dispersion functions are also included.  相似文献

本文研究有限水深两层流中孤立波的三阶近似理论,并考虑了自由表面对孤立波的影响,运用坐标变形方法得到了三阶内孤立波的发展方程,求得波速的解析表达式。对方程进行了数值计算,得到了几种参数下三阶解曲线,指出自由表面对波型和波速的影响是二阶的。计算表明三阶解对一阶、二阶解有明显的改进,使其更加接近试验结果。  相似文献

构造了浅水方程组的二阶精度的TVD格式。格式由简单的TVD Runge-Kutta型时间离散和有坡度限制的空间对称离散格式组成。数值耗散项用局部棱柱化河道流的特征变量构造。格式的主要优点是能够计算天然河道中浅水方程组的弱解并且构造简单。格式能够求出天然河道或非平底部渠道中的精确静水解。给出了渠道溃坝问题数值解与解析解的比较,验证格式精度高。实际天然河道型梯级水库溃坝的数值实验表明格式稳定,适应性强。  相似文献

For fourth-order geometric evolution equations for planar curves with the dissipation of the bending energy, including the Willmore and the Helfrich flows, we consider a numerical approach. In this study, we construct a structure-preserving method based on a discrete variational derivative method. Furthermore, to prevent the vertex concentration that may lead to numerical instability, we discretely introduce Deckelnick’s tangential velocity. Here, a modification term is introduced in the process of adding tangential velocity. This modified term enables the method to reproduce the equations’ properties while preventing vertex concentration. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach captures the equations’ properties with high accuracy and avoids the concentration of vertices.  相似文献

Evolution equations for long, nonlinear internal waves are derived when the basic stratified shear flow has a slow temporal and spatial variation as well as the usual dependence on the vertical coordinate. When the horizontal waveguide has a limited vertical extent the evolution equation is a variable coefficient Korteweg-deVries equation, while in the deep fluid case the evolution equation is a variable coefficient Benjamin-Davis-Ono equation. Explicit expressions are obtained for the coefficients of these equations.  相似文献
