Activity concentrations of radionuclides,7Be,210Pb and210Po, in precipitation (rain, throughfall and stemflow), wood and soil were determined by using gamma-ray and alpha-ray spectrometry to estimate the migration behavior of these radionuclides in the forest canopy. The activity ratios between output and input precipitations for the forest canopy were 0.53 of7Be, 0.79 of210Pb and 1.5 of210Po for Pasania edulis forest. A dynamic model of the transport and fate of radionuclides in the forest ecosystem was constructed. Mean residence times of radionuclides were 56 days for7Be, 765 days for210Pb and 653 days for210Po for Pasania edulis forest.  相似文献

To determine the levels of210Pb and210Po in human tissues of people in Japan, various tissue samples were obtained at autopsy from the cadavers of 22 oncologic cases, mainly in Niigata Prefecture in northern Japan, from 1986 to 1988.Wet ashing, followed by electrochemical deposition and alpha spectrometry were used to separate and determine the210Pb and210Po present. Among the tissues analyzed, the highest concentrations of210Pb and210Po were observed in bone (sternum), liver, and kidneys. The total body burden of210Pb and210Po was found to be approximately 427 pCi and 514 pCi, respectively. This estimated210Po value did not differ significantly from values found in populations in the U.S.A. and European countries.  相似文献

137Cs,90Sr and210Pb were determined in sediment cores from lake Mondsee /Austria/. The depth profiles show that137Cs remains undisturbed, i.e. its distribution corresponds to the fallout deposition pattern.90Sr, however, has been transported into the upper sediment layers. In this upper zone nearly constant levels of90Sr and also of210Pb/210Po/were found. Comparison of the90Sr and137Cs profiles indicates that chemical processes must be responsible for the translocation of90Sr as well as210Pb, and not bioturbation, i.e. mixing of upper sediment layers by benthic organisms.Dedicated to Prof. Dr. Karl Schlögl, University of Vienna, for his 60th birthday.  相似文献

A sensitive and reliable metbod for the sequential separation and determination of plutonium,241Am and90Sr in soil samples was developed. Plutonium was separated by a Microthene-TNOA column. Then90Y (for90Sr determination) was separated from americium by a HDEHP column after elimination of large amounts of interfering stable or radioactive nuclides (iron,210Bi and210Po etc.) by an oxalate precipitation and a Microthene-TNOA column. Finally americium was purified by another HDEHP column and a PMBP-TOPO extraction. A special attention was paid to the decontamination of Pu and Am from210Po and of90Y from210Bi; the relevant decontamination factors resulted greater than 105, 106 and 104 respectively. The detection limits were 1.2 mBq/kg for Pu and 1.7 mBq/kg for241Am and 0.32 Bq/kg for90Sr. The procedure was checked by analyzing three certified samples supplied by IAEA. Some Italian soil samples were also analyzed giving average yields of 84.9±7.2% for Pu, 57.8±3.2%for Am and 96.7±1.6% for Y; the239+240Pu,238Pu,241Am and90Sr contents (Bq/kg) ranged from 0.347 to 1.53, from 0.013 to 0.048, from 0.126 to 0.556 and from 2.89 to 11.6 respectively and the average ratios were 0.037±0.017 for238Pu/239+240Pu, 0.357±0.040 for241Am/239+240Pu and 7.0±1.2 for90Sr/239+240Pu.  相似文献

Mathematical equations governing the ratio of210Bi/210Pb and210Po/210Pb activities are used to explain the ingrowth of210Bi and210Po in environmental samples during post collection. Procedures are described for radiochemical separation of210Pb,210Bi, and210Po in a state of radioactive disequilibrium and quantification by alpha- and beta-counting. Also, the special case is considered where210Bi is in equilibrium with210Pb, but both are in disequilibrium with210Po. In this case, the activities of both210Pb and210Po are computed by measuring210Po activity twice, using alpha-counting.  相似文献

Summary Naturally occuring radioactive materials (NORM) are present in the environment and can be concentrated by technical activities, particularly those involving natural resources. These NORM deposits are highly stable and very insoluble under environmental conditions at the earth's surface. However, reducing or oxidant conditions or pH changes may enable a fraction of naturally occurring radionuclides to eventually be released to the environment. In this paper the leachability of210Pb and210Po was determined in three samples coming from a refractories production plant (dust, sludge, finished product), in one dust sample from a steelwork and in one ash sample coming from an electric power station. A sequential extraction method consisting of five operationally-defined fractions was used. The average leaching potential observed in the samples from the refractory industry is very low (mean values: 5.8% for210Pb and 1.7% for210Po). The210Pb and210Po leachability increases for the ash sample coming from an electric power plant using carbon (17.8% for210Pb and 10.0% for210Po); for the dust sample coming from a steelwork, the percent soluble fraction is 41.1% for210Pb and 8.5% for210Po. For all samples the results obtained show that210Pb is slightly more soluble than210Po.  相似文献

To estimate the dietary intakes of 210Pb and 210Po for the Japanese adults and their annual effective doses, 210Pb and 210Po were measured for 240 daily diet samples collected at two locations of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan over three years by duplicate portion studies. No appreciable differences in intake rates of 210Pb and 210Po and their 210Po/210Pb ratios were seen among the years in each district, and between the two districts. The intake rates evaluated using 240 diet samples were 0.20 Bq/d/p for 210Pb and 0.61 Bq/d/p for 210Po as a median, respectively. Annual effective doses of 210Pb and 210Po for Japanese adults were estimated to be 0.050 and 0.053 mSv/y, respectively.  相似文献

The concentrations of210Po and210Pb were determined in about 30 species of marine organisms collected mainly from the north-easterm region of Japan to know the levels and distributions of these radionuclides and to estimate their intake levels from marine foods.210Po and210Pb showed a wide range of concentration in species: 0.6–26 and 0.04–0.54 Bq/kg (wet wt) in fishes, 0.5–220 and 0.2–43 Bq/kg (wet wt) in molluscs, echinoderms and chordatas, and 2.8–4.3 and 0.4–1.3 Bq/kg (wet wt) in algae, respectively. Higher accumulation of210Po relative to210Pb was found in all of the samples analyzed. The intake levels of210Po and210Pb by marine foods consumption were roughly estimated to be 0.48–0.69 and 0.022–0.042 Bq/d per person, respectively, on the basis of the statistical data on the consumption of seafood and/or production rates of marine foods.  相似文献

A scheme of fractionation of210Pb,210Bi,210Po forms present in air aerosols based on the combination of methods of radiochemical analysis and radiometric deteemination with leaching by different agents has been developed. The ratio between the210Pb,210Bi,210Po present in the aerosol samples was determined experimentally. Carbonate of210Pb, and210Po and210Bi forms connected with oxides prevai in the aerosol component of atmospheric air.  相似文献

210Pb and210Po in human hair have been measured to serve as an aid in order to estimate the dietary intake and body burden of these radionuclides of Japanese. The210Po concentrations found in 83 hair samples were ranging from 4.0 to 59.3 mBq/g with a mean (median) value of 18.2±12.2 (14.9) mBq/g as compared to the210Pb concentrations from 0.7 to 6.5 mBq/g with a mean (median) value of 2.3±1.1 (2.0) mBq/g. The210Po/210Pb activity ratios (mean: 8.7±5.1, median: 7.1) were surprisingly higher compared with the available literature value of about 2. The high concentration of210Po in human hair of Japanese may be due to the ingestion of animal protein mainly in the form of seafood.  相似文献

A new rapid method for the determination of 210Po in water samples has been developed at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) that can be used for emergency response or routine water analyses. If a radiological dispersive device event or a radiological attack associated with drinking water supplies occurs, there will be an urgent need for rapid analyses of water samples, including drinking water, ground water and other water effluents. Current analytical methods for the assay of 210Po in water samples have typically involved spontaneous auto-deposition of 210Po onto silver or other metal disks followed by counting by alpha spectrometry. The auto-deposition times range from 90 min to 24 h or more, at times with yields that may be less than desirable. If sample interferences are present, decreased yields and degraded alpha spectrums can occur due to unpredictable thickening in the deposited layer. Separation methods have focused on the use of Sr Resin?, often in combination with 210Pb analysis. A new rapid method for 210Po in water samples has been developed at the SRNL that utilizes a rapid calcium phosphate co-precipitation method, separation using DGA Resin® (N,N,N′,N′ tetraoctyldiglycolamide extractant-coated resin, Eichrom Technologies or Triskem-International), followed by rapid microprecipitation of 210Po using bismuth phosphate for counting by alpha spectrometry. This new method can be performed quickly with excellent removal of interferences, high chemical yields and very good alpha peak resolution, eliminating any potential problems with the alpha source preparation for emergency or routine samples. A rapid sequential separation method to separate 210Po and actinide isotopes was also developed. This new approach, rapid separation with DGA resin plus microprecipitation for alpha source preparation, is a significant advance in radiochemistry for the rapid determination of 210Po.  相似文献

A determination procedure has been developed for210Bi and210Po in environmental samples and was applied for pine needles. Bismuth-210 and210Po separated from the parent nuclide210Pb as BiOCl precipitate were extracted simultaneously by TOPO/toluene containing PPO and POPOP. The separation of210Bi and210Po from210Pb was almost satisfactory. The activity of210Bi+210Po in the TOPO/toluene was measured periodically by liquid scintillation counting for about 20 days after separation. The time course of the decreasing pattern of the activity was determined by the initial activity ratio210Po/210Bi. The decreasing pattern of the activity was compared with theoretical patterns, and best estimates for210Po and210Bi were obtained by non-linear least-squares fitting. The activities of210Bi and210Po were determined for one-year and two-year old pine needles fro the same pine tree, and weathering half-time and deposition rate of these nuclides was discussed.  相似文献

This research describes methods for the sequential determination of 210Pb and 210Po activity concentrations in Ca-rich ash samples collected from oil shale-fired power plants in Estonia. The procedure involves digestion of Ca-rich ash samples in a microwave digestion system, radiochemical separation of 210Pb and 210Po and their measurements. All samples, blanks and standards were measured by liquid scintillation counting (Quantulus 1220). The method was tested using IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) RGU-1 and IAEA-444 reference materials. Spectral calibration/peak identification which included the optimization of α/β discrimination system (pulse shape analyser), and recovery have been made by 209Po and 210Pb standard solutions.

For the first time, a radiological study for the dissolved 238U, 234U, 210Pb and 210Po was held in major Greek rivers across the country. 234U/238U activity ratios are above one in all samples and 210Po/210Pb activity ratios are respectively below the unit indicating the disequilibrium in the samples. Quite satisfactory correlations were observed among 234U and 238U as well as among 210Po and 210Pb values. Uranium isotopes were separated by ion exchange and electroplated on stainless steel plates. 210Po was spontaneously deposited on nickel plates, while 210Pb was indirectly determined through the ingrowth of 210Po. The sources were measured by a-spectrometry.  相似文献

210Po is absorbed into the human body by seafood intake. Especially, mollusks and mussels are known to have much higher 210Po concentration than fish among various other types of seafood and are consumed in large quantities in Aegean Sea. 210Po and 210Pb radionuclide concentrations are obtained in the Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) and in the sediment samples collected from the Çanakkale. The activity concentrations of 210Po and 210Pb are counted using alpha spectrometry. Activity concentrations of 210Po and 210Pb in mussels are in the ranged of 227 ± 11–540 ± 38 and 17 ± 4–48 ± 5 Bq kg?1 dw (dry weight), for sediments the ranges are 23 ± 6–41 ± 3 and 15 ± 3–44 ± 1 Bq kg?1 dw, respectively. Additionally, annual committed effective dose are calculated due to consumption mussel in Çanakkale coastal region. The highest effective doses of 210Po and 210Po are found as 3187 and 56 μSv, respectively. Finally, risk analysis assessment is recommended to determine the pollutant effects of radionuclides. The risk fractions at the concentrations are easily determined with this evaluation process. This methodology has made a great contribution to risk assessments.  相似文献

A rapid method has been developed for the de termination of214Pb and214Bi in natural waters by alpha-spectrometric measurement of214Po. Well water was filtered on a membrane filter impregnated with manganese oxide and followed by direct alpha-spectrometric analysis. A prominent alpha peak was assigned to214Po, which should be supported by the longer lived parents214Pb and214Bi. The activity ratios between214Pb and214Bi adsorbed on the filter were determined by using the change of activity of214Po as a function of counting period after the filtration. The adsorbed yield of214Pb was also determined from the growth of the alpha-peak due to210Po from a210Pb tracer added in the original water. The results indicated that the amount of214Pb was in radioactive non-equilibrium state with the Rn-222 dissolved, while the activity ratios of214Bi/214Pb showed on increasing tendency with the storage period of the water.  相似文献

Biogenic burning as forest fire phenomena occurring from April to August each year in the Sumatra and Borneo islands are major sources of biogenic uranium–thorium decay series in marine systems. 30 samples were collected during the Ekspedisi Pelayaran Saintifik Perdana 2009 cruise (EPSP 2009 cruise) between 12th June and 1st August 2009 from the Straits of Malacca to the Sulu and Sulawesi Seas to study the effect of haze and the monsoon season on the deposition rate of 210Po and 210Pb in Malaysian waters. All samples were spiked with 1 ml of lead [Pb(NO3)2; 25 mg ml?1] and 0.05 ml of Polonium-209 tracer (26.08 dpm ml?1). 210Po activity was determined by auto plating onto silver foil and counting using an alpha spectrometry system (Canberra model Alpha Analyst with a silicon-surface barrier detector). Lead that was collected via electrodeposition, formed lead sulphate (PbSO4) precipitation. This precipitate was wrapped onto plastic discs and counted for 210Pb beta activity using a gross alpha–beta counting system (Tennelec model LB-5100 low background gas-flowing anti-coincidence alpha/beta counter) after 1 month to allow bismuth ingrowths. The range of 210Po activities varied between 51.08 ± 15.1 and 742.08 ± 220.34 Bq/kg, whereas the activity of 210Pb ranged from 31.10 ± 4.20 to 880.23 ± 123.86 Bq/kg and 210Po/210Pb ratio value varied between sampling stations from 0.19 to 13.77. The contents of 210Po were also statistically positively correlated with the amount of total suspended particulate especially those recorded during heavy haze period events.  相似文献

The concentrations of 210Po and 210Pb have been measured in soil, sediment and rock samples collected from major rivers of coastal Karnataka, viz. Kali, Sharavathi and Netravathi. The activity of 210Po and 210Pb in the samples were separated by radiochemical methods and the activity was counted using ZnS(Ag) alpha-counter. The activity ratio of 210Po and 210Pb and the dependence of organic matter content on the activity of these radionuclides were studied.  相似文献

This work describes a procedure for the isolation of 90Sr and 210Pb from deer bones by anion exchange methods and their sequential measurement by LSC. To prevent collection of Pb on the Sr·Spec® resin we first separated Pb on a Dowex anion exchange column. Sr, which is not held back on the Dowex column, was then purified using Sr·Spec® resin: first Ca and the Ra isotopes were eluted with 3 M HNO3 and then Sr was eluted with distilled water. With this 2-steps procedure pure 210Pb and 90Sr spectra can be achieved. The chemical yield of both steps was determined by ICP-MS. Our 90Sr results show satisfying agreement with data obtained by a shorter Sr·Spec® method and also by the “classical” 90Sr determination using fuming nitric acid. Also 210Pb results were checked by re-measuring bone samples with already known 210Pb activities. Further our method was verified on the reference sample IAEA-A-12.  相似文献
