We examine the weighted networks grown and evolved by local events, such as the addition of new vertices and links and we show that depending on frequency of the events, a generalized power-law distribution of strength can emerge. Continuum theory is used to predict the scaling function as well as the exponents, which is in good agreement with the numerical simulation results. Depending on event frequency, power-law distributions of degree and weight can also be expected. Probability saturation phenomena for small strength and degree in many real world networks can be reproduced. Particularly, the non-trivial clustering coefficient, assortativity coefficient and degree-strength correlation in our model are all consistent with empirical evidences.  相似文献

We propose several characterizations of weighted complex networks by incorporating the concept of metaweight into the clustering coefficient, degree correlation, and module decomposition. These incorporations make it possible to describe weighted networks depending on how strongly we emphasize weights. Using some applications to real-world weighted networks, we demonstrate that the proposed approach provides rich information that was inaccessible by previous analyses such as the degree correlation for a specific magnitude of weights or the community structure under controlling the importance of roles of the topology and weights.  相似文献

In this work we present a model of an air transportation traffic system from the complex network modelling viewpoint. In the network, every node corresponds to a given airport, and two nodes are connected by means of flight routes. Each node is weighted according to its load capacity, and links are weighted according to the Euclidean distance that separates each pair of nodes. Local rules describing the behaviour of individual nodes in terms of the surrounding flow have been also modelled, and a random network topology has been chosen in a baseline approach. Numerical simulations describing the diffusion of a given number of agents (aircraft) in this network show the onset of a jamming transition that distinguishes an efficient regime with null amount of airport queues and high diffusivity (free phase) and a regime where bottlenecks suddenly take place, leading to a poor aircraft diffusion (congested phase). Fluctuations are maximal around the congestion threshold, suggesting that the transition is critical. We then proceed by exploring the robustness of our results in neutral random topologies by embedding the model in heterogeneous networks. Specifically, we make use of the European air transportation network formed by 858 airports and 11 170 flight routes connecting them, which we show to be scale-free. The jamming transition is also observed in this case. These results and methodologies may introduce relevant decision-making procedures in order to optimize the air transportation traffic.  相似文献

Detecting communities in complex networks is of considerable importance for understanding both the structure and function of the networks. Here, we propose a class of improved algorithms for community detection, by combining the betweenness algorithm of Girvan and Newman with the edge weight defined by the edge-clustering coefficient. The improved algorithms are tested on some artificial and real-world networks, and the results show that they can detect communities of networks more effectively in both unweighted and weighted cases. In addition, the technique for improving the betweenness algorithm in this paper, thanks to its compatibility, can directly be applied to various detection algorithms.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze statistical properties of English and Chinese written human language within the framework of weighted complex networks. The two language networks are based on an English novel and a Chinese biography, respectively, and both of the networks are constructed in the same way. By comparing the intensity and density of connections between the two networks, we find that high weight connections in Chinese language networks prevail more than those in English language networks. Furthermore, some of the topological and weighted quantities are compared. The results display some differences in the structural organizations between the two language networks. These observations indicate that the two languages may have different linguistic mechanisms and different combinatorial natures.  相似文献

In complex networks it is common to model a network or generate a surrogate network based on the conservation of the number of connections of individual nodes. In this paper we analyse the ensemble of random networks that are defined by the conservation of the rich-club coefficient, which measures the density of connections among a group of nodes. We also present a method to generate such surrogate networks for a given network. We show that by choosing a suitable local linking term, the random networks not only preserve the rich-club coefficient but also closely approximate the degree distribution and the mixing pattern of real networks. Our work provides a different and complementary perspective to the network randomisation problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a rank-based model for weighted network. The evolution rule of the network is based on the ranking of node strength, which couples the topological growth and the weight dynamics. Analytically and by simulations, we demonstrate that the generated networks recover the scale-free distributions of degree and strength in the whole region of the growth dynamics parameter (α>0). Moreover, this network evolution mechanism can also produce scale-free property of weight, which adds deeper comprehension of the networks growth in the presence of incomplete information. We also characterize the clustering and correlation properties of this class of networks. It is showed that at α=1 a structural phase transition occurs, and for α>1 the generated network simultaneously exhibits hierarchical organization and disassortative degree correlation, which is consistent with a wide range of biological networks.  相似文献

Many networks are proved to have community structures. On the basis of the fact that the dynamics on networks are intensively affected by the related topology, in this paper the dynamics of excitable systems on networks and a corresponding approach for detecting communities are discussed. Dynamical networks are formed by interacting neurons; each neuron is described using the FHN model. For noisy disturbance and appropriate coupling strength, neurons may oscillate coherently and their behavior is tightly related to the community structure. Synchronization between nodes is measured in terms of a correlation coefficient based on long time series. The correlation coefficient matrix can be used to project network topology onto a vector space. Then by the K-means cluster method, the communities can be detected. Experiments demonstrate that our algorithm is effective at discovering community structure in artificial networks and real networks, especially for directed networks. The results also provide us with a deep understanding of the relationship of function and structure for dynamical networks.  相似文献

In this paper we present a study of the influence of local affinity in heterogeneous preferential attachment (PA) networks. Heterogeneous PA models are a generalization of the Barabási-Albert model to heterogeneous networks, where the affinity between nodes biases the attachment probability of links. Threshold models are a class of heterogeneous PA models where the affinity between nodes is inversely related to the distance between their states. We propose a generalization of threshold models where network nodes have individual affinity functions, which are then combined to yield the affinity of each potential interaction. We analyze the influence of the affinity functions in the topological properties averaged over a network ensemble. The network topology is evaluated through the distributions of connectivity degrees, clustering coefficients and geodesic distances. We show that the relaxation of the criterion of a single global affinity still leads to a reasonable power-law scaling in the connectivity and clustering distributions under a wide spectrum of assumptions. We also show that the richer behavior of the model often exhibits a better agreement with the empirical observations on real networks.  相似文献

We propose a geometric growth model for weighted scale-free networks, which is controlled by two tunable parameters. We derive exactly the main characteristics of the networks, which are partially determined by the parameters. Analytical results indicate that the resulting networks have power-law distributions of degree, strength, weight and betweenness, a scale-free behavior for degree correlations, logarithmic small average path length and diameter with network size. The obtained properties are in agreement with empirical data observed in many real-life networks, which shows that the presented model may provide valuable insight into the real systems.  相似文献

We present a family of scale-free network model consisting of cliques, which is established by a simple recursive algorithm. We investigate the networks both analytically and numerically. The obtained analytical solutions show that the networks follow a power-law degree distribution, with degree exponent continuously tuned between 2 and 3. The exact expression of clustering coefficient is also provided for the networks. Furthermore, the investigation of the average path length reveals that the networks possess small-world feature. Interestingly, we find that a special case of our model can be mapped into the Yule process.  相似文献

In weighted networks, redistribution of link weights can effectively change the properties of networks, even though the corresponding binary topology remains unchanged. In this paper, the effects of weight randomization on synchronization of coupled chaotic maps is investigated on regular weighted networks. The results reveal that synchronizability is enhanced by redistributing of link weights, i.e. coupled maps reach complete synchronization with lower cost. Furthermore, we show numerically that the heterogeneity of link weights could improve the complete synchronization on regular weighted networks.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of random walks on weighted networks. Assuming that the edge weight and the node strength are used as local information by a random walker. Two kinds of walks, weight-dependent walk and strength-dependent walk, are studied. Exact expressions for stationary distribution and average return time are derived and confirmed by computer simulations. The distribution of average return time and the mean-square displacement are calculated for two walks on the Barrat-Barthelemy-Vespignani (BBV) networks. It is found that a weight-dependent walker can arrive at a new territory more easily than a strength-dependent one.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze an evolving model with local information which can generate a class of networks by choosing different values of the parameter p. The model introduced exhibits the transition from unweighted networks to weighted networks because the distribution of the edge weight can be widely tuned. With the increase in the local information, the degree correlation of the network transforms from assortative to disassortative. We also study the distribution of the degree, strength and edge weight, which all show crossover between exponential and scale-free. Finally, an application of the proposed model to the study of the synchronization is considered. It is concluded that the synchronizability is enhanced when the heterogeneity of the edge weight is reduced.  相似文献

This paper investigates the evolutionary prisoner’s dilemma on weighted scale-free networks. The weighted networks are generated by adopting Barabási-Albert scale-free network and assigning link weight with wij=(ki×kj)β. Simulation results show that the cooperation frequency has a strong dependence on β. The value of β which is associated with the maximal cooperation frequency has been sought out. Moreover, Gini coefficient and Pareto exponent of the system’s wealth distribution are investigated. The inequality of wealth distribution is minimized at β≈−1.  相似文献

In this paper we present a study of the connectivity degrees of the threshold preferential attachment model, a generalization of the Barabási-Albert model to heterogeneous complex networks. The threshold model incorporates the states of the nodes in its preferential linking rule and assumes that the affinity between network nodes follows an inverse relationship with the distance between their states. We numerically analyze the connectivity degrees of the model, studying the influence of the main parameters on the distribution of connectivity degrees and its statistics, the average degree and highest degree of the network. We show that such statistics exhibit markedly different behaviors in the dependence on the model parameters, particularly as regards the interaction threshold. Nevertheless, we show that the two statistics converge in the limit of null threshold and often exhibit scaling that can be described by power laws of the model parameters.  相似文献

The sensitivity of exponents of three-power laws for node degree, node strength and edged weight to hybrid ratio are studied analytically and numerically in the weighted harmonious unifying hybrid preferential model (HUHPM), which is extended from an-weighted hybrid preferential attachment model we proposed previously [Chin. Phys. Lett. 22 (2005)719]. Our weighted HUHPMs plus the Barrat-Barthelemy-Vespignani model and the traffic-driven evolution model, respectively, are taken as two typical examples for demonstration and application of the HUHPM.  相似文献

A number of researching works have shed light on the field of complex networks recently. We investigate a wide range of real-world networks and find several interesting phenomena. Firstly, almost all of these networks evolve by overlapping new small graphs on former networks. Secondly, not only the degree sequence of the mature network follows a power-law distribution, but also the distribution of the cumulative occurrence times during the growing process are revealed to have a heavy tail. Existing network evolving models do not provide interpretation to these phenomena. We suggest a model based on the team assembling mechanism, which is extracted from the growing processes of real-world networks and requires simple parameters, and produces networks exhibiting these properties observed in the present study and in previous works.  相似文献

We investigate the factors that affect synchronizability of coupled oscillators on scale-free networks. Using the memory Tabu search (MTS) algorithm, we improve the eigen-ratio Q of a coupling matrix by edge intercrossing. The numerical results show that the synchronizatlon-improved scale-free networks should have distinctive both small average distance and larger clustering coefficient, which are consistent with some real-world networks. Moreover, the synchronizability-improved networks demonstrate the disassortative coefficient.  相似文献

In this paper, firstly, we study analytically the topological features of a family of hierarchical lattices (HLs) from the view point of complex networks. We derive some basic properties of HLs controlled by a parameter q: scale-free degree distribution with exponent γ=2+ln 2/(ln q), null clustering coefficient, power-law behavior of grid coefficient, exponential growth of average path length (non-small-world), fractal scaling with dimension dB=ln (2q)/(ln 2), and disassortativity. Our results show that scale-free networks are not always small-world, and support the conjecture that self-similar scale-free networks are not assortative. Secondly, we define a deterministic family of graphs called small-world hierarchical lattices (SWHLs). Our construction preserves the structure of hierarchical lattices, including its degree distribution, fractal architecture, clustering coefficient, while the small-world phenomenon arises. Finally, the dynamical processes of intentional attacks and collective synchronization are studied and the comparisons between HLs and Barabási-Albert (BA) networks as well as SWHLs are shown. We find that the self-similar property of HLs and SWHLs significantly increases the robustness of such networks against targeted damage on hubs, as compared to the very vulnerable non fractal BA networks, and that HLs have poorer synchronizability than their counterparts SWHLs and BA networks. We show that degree distribution of scale-free networks does not suffice to characterize their synchronizability, and that networks with smaller average path length are not always easier to synchronize.  相似文献
