The volume and surface forces in the system of two long dielectric cylinders touching each other from the exterior are investigated. Charged filaments on the axes of the cylinders are the sources of the electric field. Analytic expressions for the forces acting on the cylinders are derived, and the most important particular cases following from the general solution under various assumptions about the radii of the cylinders, their permittivities, and the line densities of the charges are studied. A constructive method for calculating the forces that takes into account special features of electric-field formation in the system was proposed on the basis of the exact solution to the field problem.  相似文献

We give expressions for the electric potential and field around two conducting cylinders in contact, in closed form and in terms of elementary functions. The polarizability tensor, and hence the torque acting on the cylinder pair, follow from these results. The surface charge density, and the total charge per unit length on each cylinder, can also be evaluated in closed form. The equal and opposite forces on the two cylinders are found in the case of equal cylinder radii.  相似文献

A static magnetic field, acting on an isotropic medium composed of paramagnetic chiral molecules perpendicular to the propagation direction of the optical beam, is shown to induce an axial differential effect—magnetochiral Rayleigh light scattering. Diamagnetic and paramagnetic contributions to the effect are given in terms of the linear and nonlinear electric dipole, magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole polarizabilities responsible also for natural optical activity, the Faraday effect as well as magnetochiral birefringence. 采用线性化量子流体动力学模型,研究了载能粒子与二维层状电子气相互作用时的集体静电激发现象。在适当的边界条件下推导出感应电势,入射粒子所受的阻止力和侧向力的一般表达式,讨论了存在绝缘基底情况下基底介电常数对感应电势、阻止力及侧向力的影响。结果表明:当入射粒子速度较小时,基底的极化电场较弱,其介电常数的变化对感应电场几乎无影响,而当速度较高时因极化电场较强而影响很大;入射粒子距离与基底相连的电子气平面越近,基底介电常数对各物理量的影响越大。  相似文献

The long-range spin and velocity independent forces of electromagnetic origin which act between any two systems are studied for those cases in which no forces of this type exist to order e2. It is shown that they are uniquely determined by the charge, magnetic moment, and polarizabilities of both systems, not only to the dominant order r?n, but also to the next one r?(n+1). These potentials provide the link between Compton scattering polarizabilities (response to real photons) and classically defined polarizabilities (response to static electromagnetic field). The two definitions are shown to be equivalent for neutral spinless systems; the problems arising for a neutral particle with magnetic moment are studied in detail. The r?(n+1) terms have no classical counterpart, since they are due to the relativistic quantum propagation of the system which carries charge or magnetic moment. The results are of general validity with analyticity, crossing, unitarity, and gauge invariance as only inputs. The most general conclusion is that the polarizabilities represent electromagnetic properties of a system at order e2, as the charge and magnetic moment do at order e. Thus they give the strength of the response to electric and magnetic fields, independently of the specific characteristics of the electromagnetic agent.  相似文献

The effect of an electric field on an anisotropic donor is studied by means of a variational calculation including central cell corrections. It is shown that the electron mass anisotropy leads to an increase of the donor polarizability with respect to the spherical model. Quantitative results are given for donor polarizabilities in Si and Ge and compared to previous theoretical and experimental work.  相似文献

The Buckingham expansion is important for understanding molecular multipoles and (hyper) polarizabilities. In this study, we give a complete derivation of the Buckingham expansion in the traced form using successive Taylor series. Based on the derivation results, a general Buckingham expansion in the traced form is proposed, from which highly accurate numerical calculations using the finite field method can be achieved. The transformations from the traced multipoles and multipole-multipole polarizabilities to the corresponding traceless counterparts are realized with an auxiliary traced electric field gradient. The applications of thefinite field method in this study show good agreements with previous theoretical calculations and experimental measurements.  相似文献

Various properties of Nano-Scale cell bio-membranes or vesicle membranes in an external electric field and free salt environment are studied and reviewed in a theoretical and computational framework. This is done by calculating the radial forces acting on cells generated as the result of an applied electric field and the ensuing charge re-distribution. Our results could help to shed light on mechanisms responsible for the observed deformation and fusion of cells which can be designed by biotechnological devices.  相似文献

基于Shyy提出的常气压下均匀辉光放电等离子体与空气干扰的物理模型,通过求解电位势方程得到电场分布及作用于流体上的电场力.以NACA0015翼型低速绕流为对象,通过数值求解考虑等离子体作用的流体运动控制方程,研究等离子体位置和个数控制对翼型绕流分离的影响.位于分离点上游的等离子体能够有效地抑制流动分离,而在分离区的等离子体对流动影响很弱,这一结论同实验观察一致,并给出等离子体对翼型壁面压力和气动力影响的规律.  相似文献

The forces acting on levitating water microdroplets in the structure of a droplet cluster (A.A. Fedorets, 2004) have been analyzed. It is found that microdroplets in the cluster should undergo low-frequency vertical damping oscillations near the equilibrium position. Oscillations occur also when switching on an external electric field, which affects the oscillation frequency and equilibrium position. Microdroplets are shown to lose their stability in the critical range of parameters. The electric fields are calculated in the simplest experimental scheme for simulating the effect of electric field on a droplet cluster.  相似文献

We give exact results for the polarizabilities, longitudinal and transverse, of two parallel cylinders of the same radius. The expressions are infinite sums, which converge rapidly if the cylinders are separated by a radius or more. In close approach the sums converge slowly, but are replaced by equivalent integral expressions, which give simple analytical results in this limit. The contact values of the longitudinal and transverse polarizabilities are π2/6 and π2/12 times the large-separation values. The longitudinal contact value is approached infinitely rapidly as the separation tends to zero, while the approach of the transverse polarizability to its contact value is regular.  相似文献

The mechanism of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) aligning in the direction of external electric field is studied by quantum mechanics calculations. The rotational torque on the carbon nanotubes is proportional to the difference between the longitudinal and transverse polarizabilities and varies with the angle of SWCNTs to the external electric field. The longitudinal polarizability increases with second power of length, while the transverse polarizability increases linearly with length. A zigzag SWCNT has larger longitudinal and transverse polarizabilities than an armchair SWCNT with the same diameter and the discrepancy becomes larger for longer tubes.  相似文献

The electric field of two dielectric straight circular cylinders containing line charges on their axes is investigated. The cylindrical bodies in question are parallel and touch each other from the exterior. They have different dielectric permittivities, charges, and radii. Also, they are surrounded by an arbitrary dielectric medium. An analytic solution to the respective boundary-value problem is given, and the most important particular cases are analyzed. Special features of the electric field in the region around the contact of the dielectric cylinders are studied versus the permittivity of the material used and the relationship between electric charges.  相似文献

Vacuum correlators of the electric and magnetic fields are calculated in the geometry of a cosmic string. Formulas for the vacuum expectation values for the squares of field components are derived. The forces acting on an atom due to the vacuum fluctuations (Casimir-Polder forces) are investigated. For atoms with isotropic tensor of polarizability these forces are attractive with respect to the string. In the anisotropic case, depending on the eigenvalues of the polarizability tensor, the Casimir-Polder forces can be either attractive or repulsive.  相似文献

结合格子玻尔兹曼方法(Lattice Boltzmann Method,简称LBM)和多块网格(Multi-Block Grid)技术,数值研究较小雷诺数(Re=100)下均匀来流绕串列对转双圆柱问题,综合分析圆柱中心间距比S/D和圆柱无量纲旋转速度α对流场结构的影响,考察前、后圆柱的涡脱落形态和升阻力特性.结果表明:当间距比为1.2时存在一临界旋转比αc,转速超过这一值后前圆柱产生负Magnus效应;间距比为2时,流场出现类似单旋转圆柱时的第二不稳定模态;当间距比较大(S/D=4、6)时,前、后柱之间存在涡脱落,后柱尾涡中出现2S、2S*、2P、P+S等多种形态.  相似文献

The electromechanical properties of thin tangentially polarized, stripe-electroded piezoceramic elements are considered. Theoretical analysis is made based on a piecewise linear approximation of the actual nonuniform electric field in the volume of the stripe-electroded cylinder design. Analytical expressions are derived for the electromechanical properties (including the effective coupling coefficient) of the tangentially polarized elements as a function of the geometry and electrode configuration (i.e., electrode width and spacing). The properties of stripe-electroded cylinders are calculated and compared with the ideal case of a uniform circumferential electric field, which may be realized in practice with segmented cylinders comprised of 33-polarized bar elements. The reasons for the reduction in the effective coupling coefficient of tangentially polarized stripe-electroded cylinders compared to the ideal coupling coefficient k(33) achievable with the segmented cylinder designs are discussed. The results of calculations of the electromechanical properties are in good agreement with experimentally obtained data on a variety of samples.  相似文献

A numerical model for an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) grooved Flat Miniature Heat Pipe (FMHP) is developed. Two microchannel shapes are considered as axial capillary structures: square and triangle grooves. For both groove shapes, the electric field affects the liquid-vapor radius of curvature which decreases in the condenser and increases in the evaporator under the action of the electric field. The liquid and vapor velocities are also affected by the EHD effects. The electric field effects on the velocities depend on the FMHP zone. It is also demonstrated that the electric field increases the vapor pressure drop; however, it decreases the liquid pressure drop. The liquid-wall and vapor-wall viscous forces as well as the shear liquid-vapor forces are affected by the electric field. The analysis of the electric forces shows that the dielectrophoretic forces which act on the liquid-vapor interface are predominant and their order of magnitude is much higher than the Coulomb forces. Finally, it is also demonstrated that the capillary limit increases with the electric field for both groove shapes.  相似文献

The electrical and linear electro-optical properties of BaTiO $_{3}$ (BT)/SrTiO $_{3}$ (ST) superlattices epitaxially grown on ST substrate are theoretically investigated using a microscopic quantum mechanical model based on the orbital approximation in correlation with the dipole–dipole interaction. Both the first-, second-, and third-order electronic polarizabilities were considered in this calculation in order to obtain accurate results for both the spontaneous local electric field, spontaneous polarization, relative dielectric constant, and linear electro-optic coefficients (Pockels constants) of BT/ST superlattices. The calculations show that the spontaneous local electric field, spontaneous polarization and linear electro-optic coefficients of BT/ST superlattices increase with their content in BT while the relative dielectric constant increases with their content in ST. Moreover, we have shown that significant enhancement of the linear electro-optic coefficients can be achieved in BT/ST superlattices. This enhancement, which concerns the ST as well as the BT layers, arises from the combined effects of strain, induced in the BT layers by the epitaxial growth, and internal polarizing electric field originating in the BT layers and acting on the electronic clouds of the polarizable constituent ions of the system.  相似文献

The influence of a static external electric field on surface‐enhanced Raman scattering is investigated by calculating the Raman spectra and excited state properties of pyridine–Au20 complex with the density functional theory and time‐dependent density functional theory method. The external electric field with orientation parallel (positive) or antiparallel (negative) to the permanent dipole moment is respectively applied on the complex. This field slightly changes the equilibrium geometry and polarizabilities, which results in shifted vibration frequencies and selectively enhanced Raman intensities. The changes of charge transfer (CT) excited states in response to the electric field are visualized by employing the charge difference densities. Further, the energy of charge transfer transition is tuned by electric field to be resonant or not with the incident light, leading to the Raman intensities are enhanced or not enhanced. At the same time, the intensities of vibration modes are sensitive to the orientation of the field. The positive electric field enhances the totally symmetric ring breathing mode (~1009 cm−1) but suppresses the trigonal ring breathing mode (~1051 cm−1). On the contrary, the mode at 1051 cm−1 is more enhanced than the mode at 1009 cm−1 when the negative electric field is applied on the complex.
