It is shown that the possibility of changing a laser light beam intensity distribution exists when the output mirror transmittance depends on the transverse plane coordinates. Methods of manufacture of inhomogeneously transmitting laser mirrors with constant phase of the reflected beam over the whole surface are described. Two examples of application of such systems are considered: one for obtaining a laser beam with constant intensity distribution in the transverse plane, the other for single-segment energy extraction from high-order transverse modes. The total laser output power is shown to be almost the same as for use of a homogeneous output mirror. 相似文献

The stability of laser resonators which contain a medium with a gain profile is investigated. Such resonators are unstable when the resonator mirrors are large (infinite aperture approximation), and the gain is lowest on the optical axis and increases with radial distance. It is shown that such resonators have well-defined regions of stability if the mirrors have gaussian reflectivity tapers. 相似文献

A pulsed cooling scheme for optomechanical systems is presented that is capable of cooling at much faster rates, shorter overall cooling times, and for a wider set of experimental scenarios than is possible by conventional methods. The proposed scheme can be implemented for both strongly and weakly coupled optomechanical systems in both weakly and highly dissipative cavities. We study analytically its underlying working mechanism, which is based on interferometric control of optomechanical interactions, and we demonstrate its efficiency with pulse sequences that are obtained by using methods from optimal control. The short time in which our scheme approaches the optomechanical ground state allows for a significant relaxation of current experimental constraints. Finally, the framework presented here can be used to create a rich variety of optomechanical interactions and hence offers a novel, readily available toolbox for fast optomechanical quantum control. 相似文献

Polarised radiation is required for many applications in optics. This paper describes several laser designs based on the variable configuration resonator, each capable of producing polarised output in a multirod resonator. Schematics for the designs are given and the modes of each cavity considered along with the stability of each resonator. Slope efficiencies as high as 45% and optical efficiencies of over 35% were observed in polarised operation with output powers as high as 10.2 W. 相似文献

Laser modes of misaligned resonators transversally limited in gain are obtained analytically within the paraxial approximation. The eigenfunctions are shown to be complex Hermite-Gaussian functions, not centered either in intensity or in curvature center. Eigenvalues are also obtained, and the effect of resonator parameters and misalignment is analyzed, revealing the lack of selectivity of misalignment on order mode. We have studied the influence of the front and the rear mirrors on the emission properties of neodymium random lasers at different
thicknesses of the powder layer. Introduction of external mirrors drastically reduces the lasing threshold of the random laser,
with the effect of the front mirror being more dominant. External mirrors also influence the location of the stimulated emission
region within the powder volume. The experimental results are in a good agreement with the results of the Monte-Carlo simulation.

A numerical analysis of laser resonators with aberrations is presented. The analysis shows that aberrations lead to large diffraction losses of laser resonators which are laid out to produce diffraction-limited beam quality.
