Curvature Estimates for Irreducible Symmetric Spaces

By making use of the classification of real simple Lie algebra, we get the maximum of the squared length of restricted roots case by case, and thus get the upper bounds of sectional curvature for irreducible Riemannian symmetric spaces of compact type. As an application, this paper verifies Sampson's conjecture in most cases for irreducible Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type.     

Additive Maps Preserving Moore-Penrose Inverses of Matrices on Symmetric Matrix Spaces

Suppose F is a field of characteristic not 2. Let M_nF and S_nF be the n × n full matrix space and symmetric matrix space over F, respectively. All additive maps from S_nF to S_nF (respectively, M_nF) preserving Moore-Penrose inverses of matrices are characterized. We first characterize all additive Moore-Penrose inverse preserving maps from S_nF to M_nF, and thereby, all additive Moore-Penrose inverse preserving maps from S_nF to itself are characterized by restricting the range of these additive maps into the symmetric matrix space.

Symmetric designs and four dimensional projective special unitary groups

In this article, we study symmetric $(v,k,\lambda )$ designs admitting a flag-transitive and point-primitive automorphism group $G$ whose socle is ${\mathrm{PSU}}_4\left(q\right)$. We prove that there exist eight non-isomorphic such designs for which $\lambda \in \{3,6,18\}$ and $G$ is either ${\mathrm{PSU}}_4\left(2\right)$, or ${\mathrm{PSU}}_4\left(2\right):2$.

Combinatorial Harmonic Maps and Discrete-group Actions on Hadamard Spaces

In this paper we use the combinatorial harmonic map theory to study the isometric actions of discrete groups on Hadamard spaces. Given a finitely generated group acting by automorphisms, properly discontinuously and cofinitely on a simplicial complex and its isometric action on a Hadamard spaces, we formulate criterions for the action to have a global fixed point.Dedicated to Professor Takushiro Ochiai on his 60th birthday.
