Beligiannis and Marmaridis in 1994, constructed the one-sided triangulated structures on the stable categories of additive categories induced from some homologically finite subcategories. We extend their results to slightly more general settings. As an application of our results, we give some new examples of one-sided triangulated categories arising from abelian model categories. An interesting outcome is that we can describe the pretriangulated structures of the homotopy categories of abelian model categories via those of stable categories.  相似文献

We introduce a notion of an extended operation which should serve as a new tool for the study of categories like Mal’tsev, unital, strongly unital and subtractive categories. However, in the present paper we are only concerned with subtractive categories, and accordingly, most of the time we will deal with extended subtractions, which are particular instances of extended operations. We show that these extended subtractions provide new conceptual characterizations of subtractive categories and moreover, they give an enlarged “algebraic tool” for working in a subtractive category—we demonstrate this by using them to describe the construction of associated abelian objects in regular subtractive categories with finite colimits. Also, the definition and some basic properties of abelian objects in a general subtractive category is given for the first time in the present paper. Combinatorial model categories were introduced by J. H. Smith as model categories which are locally presentable and cofibrantly generated. He has not published his results yet but proofs of some of them were presented by T. Beke, D. Dugger or J. Lurie. We are contributing to this endeavour by some new results about homotopy equivalences, weak equivalences and cofibrations in combinatorial model categories. We define the concept of a regular object with respect to another object in an arbitrary category. We present basic properties of regular objects and we study this concept in the special cases of abelian categories and locally finitely generated Grothendieck categories. Applications are given for categories of comodules over a coalgebra and for categories of graded modules, and a link to the theory of generalized inverses of matrices is presented. Some of the techniques we use are new, since dealing with arbitrary categories allows us to pass to the dual category.   相似文献

In this paper,we propose a new approach towards the classification of spherical fusion categories by their Frobenius-Schur exponents.We classify spherical fusion categories of Frobenius-Schur exponent 2 up to monoidal equivalence.We also classify modular categories of Frobenius-Schur exponent 2 up to braided monoidal equivalence.It turns out that the Gauss sum is a complete invariant for modular categories of FrobeniusSchur exponent 2.This result can be viewed as a categorical analog of Arf's theorem on the classification of non-degenerate quadratic forms over fields of characteristic 2.  相似文献

In recent years the theory of structured ring spectra (formerlyknown as A- and E-ring spectra) has been simplified by the discoveryof categories of spectra with strictly associative and commutativesmash products. Now a ring spectrum can simply be defined asa monoid with respect to the smash product in one of these newcategories of spectra. In this paper we provide a general methodfor constructing model category structures for categories ofring, algebra, and module spectra. We introduce and study a concept of a convergence structure on a concrete category. The concept is based on using certain generalized filters for expressing the convergence. Some basic properties of the convergence structures are discussed. In particular, we study convergence separation and convergence compactness and investigate relationships between the convergence structures and the usual closure operators on categories. We define a relative semi-abelian category as a pair (C,E), where C is a pointed category with finite limits, and E is a class of regular epimorphisms in C satisfying certain conditions, stronger than those defining a relative homological category. Some results on the equivalence of the so-called old-style and new-style axioms for the semi-abelian categories are extended to the relative case. We define crossed product categories and we show that they are equivalent with cleft comodule categories. We also prove that a comodule category is cleft if and only if it is Hopf–Galois and has a normal basis. As an application we show that the category of Hopf modules over a cleft linear category and the category of modules over the coinvariant subcategory are equivalent.  相似文献

There are functor-preordering-structured categories S(F,P), defined by the Prague School, in which every concrete category over a concretizable basecategory is realizable. Over nice basecategories there are realizations of all topological categories in some topological S(F,L). This survey of model categories and their applications in algebraic topology is intended as an introduction for non homotopy theorists, in particular category theorists and categorical topologists. We begin by defining model categories and the homotopy-like equivalence relation on their morphisms. We then explore the question of compatibility between monoidal and model structures on a category. We conclude with a presentation of the Sullivan minimal model of rational homotopy theory, including its application to the study of Lusternik–Schnirelmann category.  相似文献

Weak equivalence is defined as equivalence in the bicategory of modules between internal categories. It is known that two categories are weakly equivalent if and only if their Cauchy completions are equivalent. We prove that this condition can be generalized to a suitable notion of intermediate category, stable under composition with weak equivalences. We give an explicit construction of the free monoid in monoidal abelian categories when the monoidal product does not necessarily preserve coproducts. Then we apply it to several new monoidal categories that appeared recently in the theory of Koszul duality for operads and props. A notion of mutation of subcategories in a right triangulated category is defined in this article. When (𝒵, 𝒵) is a 𝒟-mutation pair in a right triangulated category 𝒞, the quotient category 𝒵/𝒟 carries naturally a right triangulated structure. Moreover, if the right triangulated category satisfies some reasonable conditions, then the right triangulated quotient category 𝒵/𝒟 becomes a triangulated category. When 𝒞 is triangulated, our result unifies the constructions of the quotient triangulated categories by Iyama-Yoshino and by Jørgensen, respectively.  相似文献
