The time-periodic motions of a liquid layer of finite depth beneath an ice sheet with a straight infinite crack having a periodic dependence on the horizontal coordinate in the direction of the crack are considered. The ice sheet is simulated by a thin elastic plate. It is assumed that the thickness of the plate changes abruptly across the crack. The problems of plane-wave diffraction at a crack, plane-wave diffraction atN cracks in a uniform ice sheet, and plane-wave reflection from a rigid wall are solved. The effect of the pre-existing state of stress of the ice sheet on the properties of the reflected waves is investigated. The condition of nontransmission of fix-frequency waves beneath the edge of the ice is obtained.Translated from Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No.2, pp. 93–102, March–April, 1993.  相似文献

The scattering problem of anti-plane shear waves in a functionally graded material strip with an off-center crack is investigated by use of Schmidt method. The crack is vertically to the edge of the strip. By using the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of a pair of dual integral equations that the unknown variable is the jump of the displacement across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jump of the displacement across the crack surfaces was expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Numerical examples were provided to show the effects of the parameter describing the functionally graded materials, the position of the crack and the frequency of the incident waves upon the stress intensity factors of the crack.  相似文献

An oblique edge crack in an anisotropic material under antiplane shear loadings is investigated. The antiplane problems are formulated based on a linear transformation method. An anisotropic solid containing an edge crack subjected to concentrated forces is first considered. The stress intensity factor for the edge crack with concentrated forces is obtained from the solution of the transformed edge crack in an isotropic material which is solved by using conformal mapping technique and complex function theory. The solution of the edge crack under concentrated loads is used to construct the stress intensity factor for the oblique edge crack in the anisotropic material subjected to antiplane distributed loads. Some numerical computations are carried out to calculate the stress intensity factors for the edge crack in inclined orthotropic materials subjected to point forces as well as distributed tractions.  相似文献

A rigorous theory of the diffraction of Love waves by a stress-free crack of finite width in the interface of a layered composite is presented. The incident wave is taken to be either a bulk wave or a Love-wave mode. The resulting boundary-value problem for the unknown jump in the particle displacement across the crack is solved by employing the integral equation method. The unknown quantity is expanded in terms of a complete sequence of expansion functions in which each separate term satisfies the edge condition. This leads to an infinite system of linear, algebraic equations for the coefficients of the expansion functions. This system is solved numerically. The scattering matrix of the crack, which relates the amplitudes of the outgoing waves to the amplitudes of the incident waves, is computed. Several reciprocity and power-flow relations are obtained. Numerical results are presented for a range of material constants and geometrical parameters.  相似文献

Weight functions, which give stress intensity factors in terms of applied loading, are constructed, for three-dimensional time-dependent loading of a semi-infinite crack, propagating at uniform speed. Both a model problem, governed by a scalar wave equation, and the full vectorial problem for Mode I loading, are considered. The medium through which the crack propagates is viscoelastic; the approach is general but explicit formulae are given when the medium is a Maxwell fluid. The weight functions are exploited to develop formulae for the first-order perturbations of stress intensity factors when the crack edge is no longer straight but becomes slightly wavy. Implications for stability, and for “crack front waves” in the case of the Mode I problem, are discussed.  相似文献

The elastic wave momentum equation is applied to scattering of dilatational and shear waves by two-dimensional thin objects. It is shown that the sources of wave momentum are located at the edges of these objects. For a stress-zero crack or for a rigid inclusion there are two sources at each edge, for a fluid-filled crack there is just one. The scattered wave is expressed in terms of these sources. This reduces the number of independent variables by a factor two. An application to inverse scattering problems is also given.  相似文献

The solution of a dynamic problem for calculation of a displacement field on a half-space surface caused by an internal mode I crack opening is presented. The problem is reduced to the system of boundary integral equations (BIEs). The equations of motion are solved with the use of Helmholtz potentials and applying Fourier integral transform. The effects of the crack size, the crack depth and the distance from the crack epicenter to the observation point on the parameters of elastic waves are investigated. It is established that the increasing of the defect size leads to narrowing bandwidth of elastic waves and to lowering of center frequency. The analysis given here can be used for identification of the crack growth during technical diagnostic of an industry objects and structural elements by AE method.  相似文献

Rice et al. (Journal of Mechanics and Physics of Solids42, 813–843) analyze the propagation of a planar crack with a nominally straight front in a model elastic solid with a single displacement component. Using the form of Willis et al. (Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids43, 319–341), of dynamic mode I weight functions for a moving crack, we address that problem solved by Rice et al. in the 3D context of elastodynamic theory. Oscillatory crack tip motion results from constructive-destructive interference of stress intensity waves. Those waves, including system of the dilatational, shear and Rayleigh waves, interact on each other and with moving edge of crack, can lead to continuing fluctuations of the crack front and propagation velocity.  相似文献

The inverse problem of determining the size, shape and orientation of a flat crack from high-frequency far-field elastic waves scattered by the crack is investigated. The results show that desired information on a crack can be obtained from the first arriving scattered longitudinal waves only. It is shown that an approximate high-frequency solution to the direct problem, based on physical elastodynamics, yields an expression for the scattered far-field of longitudinal motion which suggests a solution to the inverse problem by application of Fourier-type inversion integrals to scattering data. Two kinds of inversion integrals are examined. The inversion problem becomes relatively simple if some a-priori information is available, either on the orientation of the plane of the crack or on a plane of symmetry. The method of inversion is verified for a flat crack of elliptical shape. Some computational technicalities are discussed, and the method is also applied to experimental scattering data.  相似文献

A solution is presented for a class of two-dimensional electroelastic branched crack problems. Explicit Green's function for an interface crack subject to an edge dislocation is developed using the extended Stroh formulation allowing the branched crack problem to be expressed in terms of coupled singular integral equations. The integral equations are obtained by the method that models a kink as a continuous distribution of edge dislocations, and the dislocation density function is defined on the line of the branch crack only. Competition between crack extension along the interface and kinking into the substrate is investigated using the integral equations and the maximum energy release rate criterion. Numerical results are presented to show the effect of electric field on the path of crack extension. The transient thermal stress problem of a semi-infinite plate containing an infinite row of periodically distributed cracks normal to its edge is investigated in this paper. The elastic medium is assumed to be cooled suddenly on the crack-containing edge. By the superposition principle, the formulation leads to a mixed boundary value problem, with the negating tractions arisen from the thermal stresses for a crack-free semi-infinite plate. The resulting singular integral equation is solved numerically. The effects on the stress intensity factors due to the presence of periodically distributed cracks in a semi-infinite plate are illustrated. For both the edge crack and the embedded crack arrays, the stress intensity factors increase, due to the reduction of the shielding effect, as the stacking cracks are more separated. For the case of embedded crack array, one has the further conclusion that the stress intensity factors decline as the crack array shifts from the plate edge.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of two parallel symmetric cracks in a piezoelectric strip under harmonic anti-plane shear waves is studied using the Schmidt method for permeable crack surface conditions. The cracks are parallel to the edge of the strip. By means of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations. These equations are solved using the schmidt method. The results show that the stress and the electric displacement intensity factors depend on the geometry of the cracks, the frequency of incident waves, the distance between cracks and the thickness of the strip. It is also found that the electric displacement intensity factors for the permeable crack surface conditions are much smaller than those for the impermeable crack surface conditions. A method to determine acoustic emission of surface waves from a crack near the free edge of a plate, is presented, in terms of the function f(t), which defines the time dependence of the crack opening process, the crack opening volume per unit thickness of the plate, and the elastic constants of the plate. The determination of the time-varying displacement is based on the use of equivalent body forces, which are shown to be two double forces. The acoustic emission of the crack, or the equivalent radiation from the double forces, has been obtained by a novel use of the elastodynamic reciprocity theorem. It is of interest that the normal surface-wave displacement at a position x0 of the free edge comes out as depending on df/dt evaluated at x0 for t > x0/cR, where cR is the velocity of surface waves on the free edge.  相似文献

Scattering of incident surface waves and incident body waves by a surface-breaking crack is investigated in a two-dimensional geometry. By decomposing the scattered fields into symmetric and antisymmetric fields with respect to the plane of the crack, two boundary value problems for a quarter-plane have been obtained. The formulation of each boundary-value problem has been reduced to a singular integral equation which has been solved numerically. For incident surface waves the back-scattered and forward-scattered surface waves have been plotted versus the dimensionless frequency. Curves are also presented for the scattered displacement fields in the interior of the body generated by incident body waves, both versus the angle of incidence and versus the dimensionless frequency.  相似文献

The application of the property of dynamic similarity is useful to the solution which admits a self-similarity or homogeneous form. One independent variable has been dropped in the present equivalent set of the governing equations. The displacement discontinuity on the crack face and also the displacement field on the surface due to an in-plane shear model over an expanding zone of slippage of arbitrary dip have been obtained. The moving slip edge extends towards the surface with a constant velocity. Cagniard De-Hoop technique has been used here to obtain the two dimensional exact transient response due to the slip in the vertical mode via body force equivalent. The results of the present paper are valid at least up to the time when the diffracted waves from the crack edge have not reached the receiving station. The spectral behavior of the source time function has also been discussed.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior ofa Griffith permeable crack under harmonic anti-plane shearwaves in the piezoelectric materials is investigated by use of the non-local theory. To overcome themathematical difficulties,a one-dimensional non-local kernel is used instead of a two-dimensionalone for the anti-plane dynamic problem to obtain the stress and the electric displacement near thecrack tips.By means of Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with a pair of dual integralequations that the unknown variable is the jump of the displacement across the crack surfaces. These equations are solved with the Schmidt method and numerical examples are provided.Con-trary to the previous results,it is found that no stress and electric displacement singularities arepresent at the crack tip.The finite hoop stress and the electric displacement depend on the cracklength, the lattice parameter of the materials and the circle frequency of the incident waves.Thisenables us to employ the maximum stress hypothesis to deal with fracture problems in a naturalway.  相似文献

Based on the complex variable method and the technique of conformal mapping, the anti-plane problem of two asymmetrical edge cracks emanating from an elliptical hole in a piezoelectric material is studied. The exact solutions of field intensity factors and energy release rate are presented in closed-form with the assumption that the surfaces of the cracks and the elliptical hole are electrically impermeable. With the variation of the hole-size and the crack length, the present results can be reduced to the cases of two symmetrical edge cracks and a single edge crack emanating from a circular hole given by Wang and Gao [Wang, Y.J., Gao, C.F., 2008. The mode III cracks originating from the edge of a circular hole in a piezoelectric solid. International Journal of Solids and Structures 45, 4590–4599]. Moreover, new models used for simulating more practical defects in a piezoelectric solid are obtained, such as two symmetrical edge cracks and a single edge crack emanating from an elliptical hole, two asymmetrical edge cracks emanating from a circular hole, T-shaped crack, cross-shaped crack and semi-infinite plane with an edge crack. Numerical examples are then conducted to reveal the effects of the hole-size and the crack length on the field intensity factors and the energy release rate.  相似文献
