A new method is presented for reconstruction of the radially distributed emissivity from the line-of-sight projected intensity. The method is based on approximating the projected intensity profile by Legendre wavelets. The coefficients of the approximation are computed using the inner product of Legendre wavelets and the intensity profile. The emissivity profile is then obtained by the combination of the functions related to Legendre wavelets. The method is more accurate and noise resistant than other methods when applied to experimental data, and there is no need for a complete noise filtering of the intensity data before applying the inversion.  相似文献

The end-to-end distribution function for a polymer chain with self-interaction is derived from a functional having the significance of a generator for connected diagrams which consist of vertices representing clusters of monomers in contact, and lines representing free polymer sections. In spite of the dependence of the vertex weights on the multiplicities of the contacts and the presence of an extra weight-factor peculiar to the polymer chain, the generator for connected diagrams is shown to be expressible in terms of a similar generator for irreducible diagrams through a reduction procedure that is analogous to the transformation from connected to irreducible cluster diagrams in classical gas theory. The relation between the generators for connected and irreducible diagrams can be cast into the form of a functional Legendre transformation by considering them as characteristic functionals of new activity and density functions, that embody the multiplicity dependent cluster activity and densities figuring as vertex weights in the connected and irreducible diagrams respectively. This Legendre transformation can be reduced to a much simpler form by imposing an upper bound to the allowed contact multiplicity of the interacting chain.  相似文献

连续Legendre函数加权的恒定束宽换能器(CBT)阵列可以在一定频率范围内采用与频率无关的简单阵元权重实现恒定束宽的波束特性。然而常规CBT阵列需要为每个阵元配置相应的阵元权重,当阵元数量较大时会增加复杂度。该文分析了截断阶梯Legendre函数加权的面阵列,包括球面阵、柱面阵和平面阵,并且分别分析了Legendre函数球面加权方法和Legendre函数柱面加权方法应用于上述阵列的性能。结果表明,截断阶梯Legendre函数加权对波束方向的影响可以忽略,而主要影响波束宽度。对于面阵列,当采样阶梯不大于3 dB,截断点不大于-21 dB时,截断阶梯Legendre函数加权能很好近似连续Legendre函数加权。因此截断阶梯Legendre函数加权可以在保证CBT阵列性能的前提下有效减少阵元加权系数的数量。  相似文献

In the paper, by using a differential-geometric machinery, one computes the Maslov class for: a) Legendre curves on S3, with respect to any one of the three classical contact forms of S3; b) Legendre submanifolds for the classical contact structure of the cotangent unit spheres bundles of a Riemannian manifold N. In case b), and if N is flat, the Maslov class is determined by the mean curvature vector, and it vanishes if the Legendre submanifold is minimal.  相似文献

A novel approach is proposed to investigate the phase transitions of cholesteric liquid crystals using the Legendre moments. The textures of cholesteric liquid crystals (cholesteryl butyrate, cholesteryl n-valerate, cholesteryl decanoate, and cholesteryl myristate) are captured as a function of temperature using high-resolution camera attached to the arthroscopic mode of polarizing optical microscope with hot stage. A recurrence formula is used to compute the Legendre moments of the liquid crystal textures based on the Legendre polynomial using MATLAB software. The abrupt change in the values of Legendre moments as a function of temperature gives the phase transitions of liquid crystals. The investigated transition temperatures of cholesteric liquid crystals are compared with other techniques.  相似文献

It is shown that the Legendre transform structure of thermodynamics does not depend upon the functional form of the entropy. It is a just a necessary consequence of Jaynes' maximum entropy principle. Molecular dynamics simulations of liquid chloroform at 298 K and 220 K, using established optimized potential parameters and run on single-processor workstations, are employed to compute the first- and second-order Legendre polynomial, single-molecule orientational correlation functions describing the tumbling motion of the carbon-hydrogen bond direction. The results of the simulated Raman correlation functions compare well with their experimental counterparts from previously reported Fourier-transformed band contours of two totally symmetric vibration-rotation modes of the liquid. Simulated angular momentum, angular velocity, and intermolecular torque correlation functions are shown, and helped to characterize the insignificance of free orientational mobility within the system. Perturbation effects from rotation-vibration interaction and collision-induced intensities are present, but their effects on the correlation results are not sufficiently high to be of major significance.  相似文献

The exact analytical result for a class of integrals involving (associated) Legendre polynomials of complicated argument is presented. The method employed can in principle be generalized to integrals involving other special functions. This class of integrals also proves useful in the electrostatic problems in which dielectric spheres are involved, which is of importance in modeling the dynamics of biological macromolecules. In this paper, we develop an accurate and efficient Legendre wavelets method for numerical solution of the well known time-fractional telegraph equation. In the proposed method we have employed both of the operational matrices of fractional integration and differentiation to get numerical solution of the time-telegraph equation. In this article the Legendre multiwavelet basis with aid of collocation method has been applied to give approximate solution for fractional delay systems. The properties of Legendre multiwavelet are presented. These properties together with the collocation method are then utilized to reduce the problem to the solution of algebraic system. Numerical results and comparison with exact solutions in the cases when we have exact solution are given in test examples in order to demonstrate the applicability and efficiency of the method.  相似文献

An improved Abel inversion method based on Legendre polynomials approximations is presented for reconstructing the original radial distribution of plasma emission coefficients from projected intensities. The method uses the technique of overlapping two near segments for obtaining an excellent approximation of the intensity distribution. The approximated function of the intensity profile is a combination of various shifted Legendre polynomials which in the Abel inverse equation can be integrated exactly to deduce the emission coefficient. It is shown, using simulated intensity data with and without noise inverted for a comparison with those obtained by other methods, that the method is more accurate and has a better property of noise resistance. It is well suited for applying to experimental intensities distorted by noise.  相似文献

Complex angular momentum techniques are applied to the theory of elastic scattering in chemically reactive systems. The Watson-Sommerfeld transformation allows the scattering amplitude to be written as a background integral and a sum over Regge Poles in the right-hand complex plane. It is shown the Regge Poles are restricted to the first quadrant for physically meaningful optical potentials. Neglect of the background integral and all poles except for the one closest to the real axis allows the differential cross section for large scattering angles to be written in terms of a Legendre function of complex degree. The theory agrees with experimental results for the elastic angular distributions of direct and complex reactions. It predicts oscillations and a glory in the backward direction of the angular distributions. The oscillations arise from interference between orbiting or surface waves that propagate around the region of chemical reaction. Measurements of angular distributions at different collision energies can be used to determine a Regge trajectory.  相似文献

On the basis of our recent investigations concerning the mathematical structure of the hierarchy which results from the Legendre polynomial expansion of the electron velocity distribution function in Boltzmann's equation a new technique for solving this equation in multi-term even-order approximation is presented. This method is, even if more complex, the logical generalization of the well known technique for solving Boltzmann's equation by backward integration in the conventional two-term approximation. A weakly ionized, spatially homogeneous and stationary plasma with elastic and exciting electron-atom collisions is considered acted upon by a dc electric field. The technique, presented in detail, determines the distribution function in even order 2l of the expansion at the end by l-fold backward and 2l-fold forward integration of the hierarchy and by continuous connection of the resulting non-singular parts of the general solutions at low and high energies at an appropriate connection point. A first application of this method is made on a model gas for the even orders from 2 to 10 and under conditions with distinct anisotropy in the velocity space due to intensive exciting collisions. The converged macroscopic quantities and the corresponding first coefficients of the distribution expansion itself are compared with very accurate Monte Carlo simulations under the same conditions where a perfect agreement between the results obtained with both techniques was found confirming the high accuracy of the new technique to be presented.  相似文献

A new family of direct spectral solvers for the 3D Helmholtz equation in a spherical gap and inside a sphere for nonaxisymmetric problems is presented. A variational formulation (no collocation) is adopted, based on the Fourier expansion and the associated Legendre functions to represent the angular dependence over the sphere and using basis functions generated by Legendre or Jacobi polynomials to represent the radial structure of the solution. In the present method, boundary conditions on the polar axis and at the sphere center are not required and never mentioned, by construction. The spectral solution of the vector Dirichlet problem is also considered, by employing a transformation that uncouples the spherical components of the Fourier modes and that is implemented here for the first time. The condition numbers of the matrices involved in the scalar solvers are computed and the spectral convergence of all the proposed solution algorithms is verified by numerical tests.  相似文献

Experiments involving heating of liquid droplets which are acoustically levitated, reveal specific modes of oscillations. For a given radiation flux, certain fluid droplets undergo distortion leading to catastrophic bag type breakup. The voltage of the acoustic levitator has been kept constant to operate at a nominal acoustic pressure intensity, throughout the experiments. Thus the droplet shape instabilities are primarily a consequence of droplet heating through vapor pressure, surface tension and viscosity. A novel approach is used by employing Legendre polynomials for the mode shape approximation to describe the thermally induced instabilities. The two dominant Legendre modes essentially reflect (a) the droplet size reduction due to evaporation, and (b) the deformation around the equilibrium shape. Dissipation and inter-coupling of modal energy lead to stable droplet shape while accumulation of the same ultimately results in droplet breakup.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to estimate the scattering phase function of snow from angularly resolved measurements of light intensity in the plane of incidence. A solver is implemented that solves the scattering function for a semi-infinite geometry based on the radiative transfer equation (RTE). Two types of phase functions are considered. The first type is the general phase function based on a low-order series expansion of Legendre polynomials and the other type is the Henyey–Greenstein (HG) phase function. The measurements were performed at a wavelength of 1310 nm and six different snow samples were analysed. It was found that a first order expansion provides sufficient approximation to the measurements. The fit from the first order phase function outperforms that of the HG phase function in terms of accuracy, ease of implementation and computation time. Furthermore, a correlation between the magnitude of the first order component and the age of the snow was found. We believe that these findings may complement present non-contact detection techniques used to determine snow properties.  相似文献
