This paper presents a method for computing the complex eigenvalues for a boundary-value problem describing the rotation of deep-water drill columns for drilling at depths of thousands of meters. A solution is sought for a singularly perturbed boundary-value problem in the form of an asymptotic expansion in a small parameter ε for two parts of the of the drill column: a lower compressed length, and the upper length. A method is given for obtaining integral growth lemmas for solutions of boundary problems for a large class of quasilinear evolution equations. The aim of this article is to give a unified treatment for the theorems of Rolewicz and Neerven type for uniform exponential stability of evolution families. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for uniform exponential stability of evolution families, generalizing a stability theorem due to Rolewicz and we present a new proof for the Rolewicz theorem, based on the theory of Banach function spaces. Finally, we apply our results and we deduce a generalization for a classical stability theorem due to Przyluski and Rolewicz.  相似文献

We obtain moment inequalities for the sum of the indicators of events and an upper estimate for a convex function of such a sum. Our results generalize inequalities that were obtained earlier for moment characteristics of the sojourn time of a random walk on a half-axis.  相似文献

Validation of numerical methods for describing the motion of a ship in sea conditions by adequate experiments is a major research field in ocean engineering. For the development of a method for the systematic determination of critical and safe operational conditions and for the classification of capsize scenarios bifurcation analyses are performed. The computational effort for these analyses is enormous using a full model describing the nonlinear dynamics of a floating body. Therefore, a method for model reduction is currently being developed at the Institute of Mechanics and Ocean Engineering at TUHH. Bases for the validation of this new method are experiments conducted in the institute's wave tank. The determination of position and attitude of the body is performed with an integrated measurement system: An inertial measurement unit and a video system are combined using an extended Kalman Filter. A problem of uniqueness for series over multiplicative systems of functions and for multiplicative transforms is considered. It is shown that each set of uniqueness for a multiplicative transform is specified by a countable collection of sets of uniqueness for series over the corresponding multiplicative system of functions. A class of isoperimetric problems of stability optimization is considered. These arise, for example, when maximizing the Euler force in the destabilization of a column (rod) of varying cross-section and given volume (Lagrange's problem). It is well known that an extremum which depends on the form of the boundary conditions can be achieved for both simple and double eigenvalues. A class of problems is identified for which a global maximum is found at a simple eigenvalue. The possibility of achieving a local extremum for the first (simple) eigenvalue at stationary points is analysed qualitatively in terms of the parameter values and the form of the boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this paper,for time-to-event data,we propose a new statistical framework for casual inference in evaluating clinical utility of predictive biomarkers and in selecting an optimal treatment for a particular patient.This new casual framework is based on a new concept,called Biomarker Adjusted Treatment Effect (BATE) curve.The BATE curve can be used for assessing clinical utility of a predictive biomarker,for designing a subsequent confirmation trial,and for guiding clinical practice.We then propose semi-parametric methods for estimating the BATE curves of biomarkers and establish asymptotic results of the proposed estimators for the BATE curves.We also conduct extensive simulation studies to evaluate finite-sample properties of the proposed estimation methods.Finally,we illustrate the application of the proposed method in a real-world data set.  相似文献

A numerical method for solving the plane problem of determining the stress state of a tube of arbitrary section immersed in a homogeneous incompressible liquid is proposed. The change from the boundary conditions for this problem to the boundary conditions for a biharmonic stress function is carried out, which enables the algorithm for solving boundary value problems in the case of a polyharmonic function developed earlier to be used to solve the problem under consideration. It is shown that the boundary conditions for doubly-connected domains contain three unknown constants. The conditions for finding these constants in a form that is convenient for the implementation of a numerical algorithm are obtained. Tubes with sections in the form of concentric, eccentric and elliptic rings are considered as examples.  相似文献

One considers a class of solutions with finite total energy and moment of inertia for the equations of motion of compressible fluids. It is shown that for a wide class of right-hand sides, including the viscosity term, initially smooth solutions may acquire singularities on a finite time interval. A sufficient condition for the appearance of singularities is found. This condition may be called “the best possible sufficient condition” in the sense that one can explicitly construct a time-global smooth solution for which this condition does not hold to within arbitrary infinitely small quantities. For a nontrivial constant state, perturbations with compact support are considered. A generalization is proved for the known theorem on the initial conditions for which the solution acquires singularities on a finite time interval. We continue our study of the existence of convergent iterations in the presence of computational errors for a nonexpansive setvalued mapping. In a recent paper we have shown that if for any initial point, there exists a trajectory of a nonexpansive set-valued mapping attracted by a given set, then this property is stable under small perturbations of the mapping. In particular, we have shown there that for any initial point, there exists a trajectory with a subsequence which is attracted by the attractor. In the present paper we show, under certain mild additional assumptions, that for any initial point, there exists a trajectory such that, for any given positive e\epsilon, almost all of its elements belong to an e\epsilon-neighborhood of the attractor.  相似文献

In a recent paper we proved a special case of a variant of Pink's Conjecture for a variety inside a semiabelian scheme: namely for any curve inside any scheme isogenous to a fibred product of two isogenous elliptic schemes. Here we go ahead with the programme of settling the conjecture for general abelian surface schemes by completing the proof for all non-simple surfaces. A new technique for acceleration of convergence of static and dynamic iterations for systems of linear equations and systems of linear differential equations is proposed. This technique is based on splitting the matrix of the system in such a way that the resulting iteration matrix has a minimal spectral radius for linear systems and a minimal spectral radius for some value of a parameter in Laplace transform domain for linear differential systems.This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We obtain lower bounds for the rate of convergence of reconstruction algorithms for distributed-parameter systems of parabolic type. In the case of a pointwise constraint on control for known reconstruction algorithms, we establish a lower bound on the rate of convergence, which shows that, given certain conditions, for each solution of the system one can choose such a collection of measurements so that the reconstruction error will not be less than a certain value. In the case of unbounded controls, we obtain lower bounds for a possible reconstruction error for each trajectory as well as for a given set of trajectories. For a system of special form, we construct an algorithm for which we obtain upper and lower bounds for accuracy having identical order for a specific choice of matching of the parameters.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for a class of systems of ordinary differential equations of large dimension.We prove that, for sufficiently large number of equations, the last component of a solution to the Cauchy problem is an approximate solution to the initial value problem for a delay differential equation. We consider the problem of localization of eigenvalues of polynomial matrices. We propose sufficient conditions for the spectrum of a regular matrix polynomial to belong to a broad class of domains bounded by algebraic curves. These conditions generalize the known method for the localization of the spectrum of polynomial matrices based on the solution of linear matrix inequalities. We also develop a method for the localization of eigenvalues of a parametric family of matrix polynomials in the form of a system of linear matrix inequalities.  相似文献
