Polymeric tributylstannyl ester of silicic acid ( PTBS ) was demonstrated to be a useful intermediary compound for the preparation of polysiloxane derivative ( MPS ), which possessed methacryloyloxypropyl groups. The reaction of PTBS and (3-methacryloyloxypropyl)dimethylchlorosilane ( 1a ) proceeded readily at room temperature under neutral conditions to give MPS with the elimination of tributyltin group. The reaction conducted in the presence of 1a and trimethylchlorosilane ( 1b ) was effective for the preparation of MPS containing the both silyl groups, in which the content of methacryloyloxy groups could be controlled. The obtained MPS polymerized readily under UV irradiation to afford the organic–inorganic hybrid resin ( MSR ) as a kind of organically modified silica gel. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)/silica hybrid material has been successfully prepared from styrene–maleic anhydride copolymer and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) in the presence of a coupling agent (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) by an in situ sol–gel process. It was observed that the gel time of sol–gel solution was dramatically influenced by the amount of APTES. The hybrid material exhibits optical transparency almost as good as both silica gel and the copolymer. The covalent bonds between organic and inorganic phases were introduced by the aminolysis reaction of the amino group with maleic anhydride units of copolymer to form a copolymer bearing trimethoxysilyl groups, which undergo hydrolytic polycondensation with TEOS. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that the glass transition temperature of the hybrid materials increases with increasing of SiO2 composition. Photographs of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) inferred that the size of the inorganic particles in the hybrid materials was less than 20 nm. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Novel biomaterials are needed for bone tissue repair with improved mechanical performance compared to classical bioceramics. The objective of this work was to characterize a hybrid filler material, which is capable to coat as a thin film porous scaffolds improving their mechanical properties for bone tissue engineering. The hybrid filler material is a blend of chitosan and silica network formed through in situ sol–gel using tetraethylortosilicate and 3‐glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as silica precursors. The hypothesis was that the epoxy ring of GPTMS could react with the amino groups of chitosan in acidic media while it is also reacting the siloxane groups of hydrolyzed silica precursors. The formation of the hybrid organic–inorganic network was assessed by different physical techniques revealing changes in molecular mobility and hydrophilicity upon chemical reaction. Finally, the cytotoxicity of the samples was also evaluated by MTT assay. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Phys. 2015 , 53, 1391–1400  相似文献

The effects of preparation methods and monomer chemical structures on the microstructure, morphology, and properties of the hybrid films were studied. 7DBPA‐3S was synthesized by the sol–gel reaction of precondensed silica particles with alkoxysilane‐modified polymers DBPA. DBP‐POBG3T3 was prepared by the radiation curing of comb‐like UV curable alkoxysilanes POBG3T3 with UV curable polymer DBP, followed by the sol–gel reaction of alkoxysilanes. The DBP‐POBG3T3 film consisted of polymer matrix and large tethered aggregates with tiny silica connected by organic chains. On the contrary, silica nanoparticles were well‐dispersed in the 7DBPA‐3S hybrid film. The TEM, energy dispersive X‐ray Si‐mapping and P‐mapping images are good experimental approaches to characterize the texture of the tethered aggregates. The 7DBPA‐3S hybrid composite with well‐dispersed silica nanoparticles exhibited smoother surface, higher transparency, and better thermal stability than the DBP‐POBG3T3 composite did. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Epoxy‐grafted silicone oligomer (ESO), which has a linear silicone chain in the backbone moiety, was synthesized from a trifunctional alkoxysilane via a sol–gel reaction. Characterization of ESO was performed with 1H and 29Si NMR, Fourier transform infrared, and gel permeation chromatography. The number‐average molecular weight of ESO was 3300. By adding the silicone oligomer as the inorganic source in the curing process of the epoxy resin, novel epoxy/silica hybrid materials were prepared. It was observed by transmission electron microscope that fine silica‐rich domains of about 5‐nm diameter were uniformly dispersed in the cured epoxy matrix. Thermomechanical properties of the hybrid materials were also investigated. The storage modulus in the rubbery region and the peak area of the tan δ curve at the glass‐transition region increased and decreased, respectively, with the hybridization of the silica network. The mobility of the epoxy network chains should be considerably suppressed by the hybridization with the silica network. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In situ silica was synthesized in three non‐vulcanized rubber matrices, namely natural rubber, styrene‐butadiene rubber, and EPDM (ethylene‐propylene diene ter‐polymer), using the sol–gel method with tetra‐ethoxysilane (TEOS) as silica precursor and hexylamine as catalyst. The effect of the reaction parameters such as the amount of TEOS, the reaction time (15–120 min), and the type of rubber was explored. Transmission electron microscopy was used to study the gradient in silica content and particle size over the sample thickness. The diffusion gradient of TEOS and catalyst solution in the rubber matrix responsible for the gradient was studied with Fick's law. An excellent dispersion of silica was obtained for all rubbers, even for the very non‐polar EPDM, without the use of any additives to improve the dispersion. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. The solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) was used to characterize surfaces of silica gels chemically modified by alkenyltrialkoxysilanes and trialkoxysilyl terminated 1,4-polyisoprenes. The formation of covalent bonds created between alkoxy functional groups from alkenyltrialkoxysilane or trialkoxysilyl-terminated 1,4-polyisoprene and silanol groups on silica was clearly demonstrated by means of 13C and 29Si CP/MAS NMR spectroscopy. Quantitative data, including calculation of the grafting yields in relation with the initial silanol concentrations, were also obtained by using solid-state 29Si-NMR leading to a final well-defined characterization of the silica surfaces. A relatively good agreement was noticed between the grafting yields calculated from 29Si-NMR spectra and those determined from other analytical techniques such as Wijs titration or elementary analysis. The reactivity of the various silica silanols towards each coupling agent was clearly characterized and estimated, as were the proportions of the various grafted structures formed at the silica surface. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. High transparent and homogeneous poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF)/silica hybrids were obtained by using an in‐situ interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) method. The simultaneous formation of PVdF gel resulting from the physical cross‐linking and silica gel from sol–gel process prevented the aggregation of PVdF in silica gel matrix. To form the physical cross‐linking between PVdF chains, the cosolvent system of dimethylformaide (DMF) and γ‐butyrolactone was used. The obtained PVdF/silica hybrids had an entangled combination of physical PVdF gel and silica gel, which was called a “complete‐ IPN” structure. The physical cross‐linking between PVdF chains in silica gel matrix was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements. The miscibility between PVdF and silica phase was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and tapping mode atomic force microscopy (TM‐AFM) measurements. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article presents a facile, effective, mild synthesis process for well‐defined hollow spheres by using cationic polystyrene (PS) submicro‐particles as templates. In this approach, the cationic PS templates can be first prepared via emulsifier‐free polymerization by using the cationic monomer 2‐(methacryloyloxy) ethyltrimethylammonium chloride as comonomer, then, the silica shells from the sol‐gel process of tetraethoxysilane were coated on the surfaces of template particles via electrostatic interaction, finally the PS was dissolved in situ by modification of the reaction conditions in the same medium to form monodisperse hollow silica spheres with controlled shell thickness. Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscope measurements were used to characterize these hollow silica spheres. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hybrid polyimide/silica materials were prepared from polyimides bearing reactive functions along the polymer backbone, which can react with. The silica phase was formed by sol–gel process using ammonium hydroxide catalyst. Silica fillers prepared under basic conditions were compared with materials prepared using chlorhydric acid. The synthesized hybrid materials were characterized by TGA, IRTF, and NMR. The density of the different systems was also measured. The morphology of these hybrid systems were investigated by both scanning and transmission electron microscope. Thermal properties of the composites were also evaluated by DSC and DMA. The morphology of silica fillers highly depends on the catalyst, on the reaction conditions of the sol–gel process, and the linking formation with the polyimide. It results that optimized conditions lead to homogeneous hybrid films containing 12 wt % of silica particles of about 20 nm. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The photograft polymerization of various vinyl monomers onto nanosized silica surfaces was investigated. It was initiated by eosin moieties introduced onto the silica surface. The preparation of the silica with eosin moieties was achieved by the reaction of eosin with benzyl chloride groups on the silica surface. These were introduced by the reaction of surface silanol groups with 4‐(chloromethyl)phenyltrimethoxysilane in the presence of t‐butyl ammonium bromide as a phase‐transfer catalyst. The photopolymerization of various vinyl monomers, such as styrene, acrylamide, acrylic acid, and acrylonitrile was successfully initiated by eosin moieties on the silica surface in the presence of ascorbic acid as a reducing agent and by oxygen. The corresponding polymers were grafted from the silica surface. The grafting efficiency (percentage of grafted polymer to total polymer formed) in the photoinitiation system was much larger than that in the radical polymerization initiated by surface radicals; these radicals were formed by the thermal decomposition of azo groups introduced onto the silica surface. It was found that the polymer‐grafted silica gave stable dispersions in good solvents of grafted polymer and the wettability of the surfaces can be easily controlled by grafting of polymers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three polysaccharide phenylcarbamate derivatives [cellulose 2,3-bis(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)-6-(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)/(2-methacryloyloxyethylcarbamate), cellulose 2,3-bis(3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate)-6-(3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate)/(2-methacryloyloxyethylcarbamate), and amylose 2,3-bis(3, 5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)-6-(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)/(2-methacryloyloxyethylcarbamate)] with vinyl groups were prepared and coated onto silica gel to immobilize them via radical copolymerization with 2,3-dimethylbutadiene. The copolymerization efficiently proceeded, and the coated polysaccharide derivatives were mostly immobilized on the surface of the silica gel. The immobilized polysaccharide derivatives showed high chiral recognition abilities similar to those of the corresponding coated polysaccharide derivatives. They could be used with an eluent containing chloroform, which dissolved the polysaccharide derivatives. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 4704–4710, 2004  相似文献

Phosphorus‐containing epoxy‐based epoxy–silica hybrid materials with a nanostructure were obtained from bis(3‐glycidyloxy)phenylphosphine oxide, diaminodiphenylmethane, and tetraethoxysilane in the presence of the catalyst p‐toluenesulfonic acid via an in situ sol–gel process. The silica formed on a nanometer scale in the epoxy resin was characterized with Fourier transform infrared, NMR, and scanning electron microscopy. The glass‐transition temperatures of the hybrid epoxy resins increased with the silica content. The nanometer‐scale silica showed an enhancement effect of improving the flame‐retardant properties of the epoxy resins. The phosphorus–silica synergistic effect on the limited oxygen index (LOI) enhancement was also observed with a high LOI value of 44.5. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Polymeric tributylstannyl ester of silicic acid (PTBS) was demonstrated to be an effective material for the preparation of functionalized polysiloxane derivatives (2). The reaction of PTBS and monochlorosilane (1), which possessed an organofunctional group such as the acetoxy or methylmethacrylate group, proceeded readily at room temperature under neutral conditions to give 2 with the elimination of the tributyltin group. The molecular weight of 2 estimated by GPC measurement was almost the same as that of starting PTBS. Such metal-exchange reaction was applicable for the incorporation of two kinds of silyl units into polysiloxane 2 by employing these monochlorosilanes 1 at the same time in the reaction. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A practical synthetic route to polybasic, polyamine, hyperbranched grafts using commercially available polyethyleneimine (PEI) and cyanuric chloride as a coupling agent is described. The grafting process was followed by XPS spectroscopy, TGA analysis, ATR‐IR spectroscopy, acid–base titration, and by 13C CP‐MAS NMR spectroscopy. In the case of silica gel, thermal gravimetric analyses showed that a 35 wt % loading of graft could be obtained. Acid–base titration of hyperbranched PEI grafts on silica gel and oxidized polyethylene powder showed the ion‐exchange capacities of these PEI‐grafted substrates were 1.00 and 0.17 mmol of base/g of solid, respectively. Although the focus of the paper is on grafting on silica gel, the influence of the kind of support and solvent on the grafting process and the ion‐exchange capacity was examined. Water was a good solvent for PEI grafting onto silica gel, but a more hydrophobic polyethylene support required the use of dichloromethane as a solvent for PEI graft synthesis. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The aim of this work is to develop polycaprolactone based porous materials with improved mechanical performance to be used in bone repair. The hybrid membranes consist in a polymeric porous material in which the pore walls are coated by a silica thin layer. Silica coating increases membrane stiffness with respect to pure polymer but in addition filling the pores of the polymer with a silica phase improves bioactivity due to the delivery of silica ions in the neighborhood of the material in vivo. Nevertheless silica network, even that produced by sol–gel, might be too stiff and brittle what is not desirable for its performance as a coating. In this work we produced a toughened silica coating adding chitosan and 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) to the precursor solution looking for having polymer chains linked by covalent bonding to the silica network. Hybrid polymer–silica coating was produced by in situ sol–gel reaction using Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), GPTMS and chitosan. Chemical reaction between amine groups of chitosan chains and epoxy groups of GPTMS allowed covalent bonding of polymer chains to the silica network. Physical properties of the hybrid membranes were characterized and cell attachment of MC3T3-E1 pre-osteoblastic cells on the surface of these supports was assessed.  相似文献

Samples of silica gel dried at different temperatures, silica gel modified with 3-aminopropylsilyl (APS) and silica gel modified with APS and further with a ferrocenyl phosphine derivative were investigated by DRIFT, transmission FTIR and MicroRaman spectroscopy. The reaction between 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) and silica gel was mainly identified by the diminishing or vanishing intensity of the stretching band of the free OH groups in the silica gel. Further chemical reaction of the APS groups with a ferrocenyl phosphine derivative (suitable as ligand in homogeneous catalysis) was identified in the IR spectra by the appearance of the CN stretching band of the formed Schiff base, and diminishing intensity of the δ(NH2) modes. According to the IR spectra the reaction of the ferrocenyl phosphine derivative with the APS-modified silica gel is almost quantitative. From the recorded IR and Raman spectra, conclusions concerning the substitution of APTMS methoxy groups during the chemisorption on silica gel were derived. Through deconvolution of the complex Raman band in the siloxy stretching region of the APS-modified silica gel, the newly formed siloxy bond was identified.  相似文献

Polysaccharide-immobilized chiral stationary phases (CSPs) were prepared by the polymerization of cellulose 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate, having a polymerizable vinyl group, such as 4-vinylphenylcarbamate or 2-methacryloyloxyethylcarbamate, at the 6-position, with a vinyl monomer, such as styrene, isoprene, t-butyl acrylate, or t-butyl methacrylate, on silica gel under various conditions. Their chiral recognition abilities were then evaluated with high-performance liquid chromatography. The immobilized cellulose 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate remained on the silica gel even if washed with tetrahydrofuran, which could dissolve the cellulose derivative. The chiral recognition abilities of the immobilized CSPs were similar to those of the coated CSPs when the vinyl monomer content was low. The chiral recognition abilities of the obtained immobilized CSPs slightly depended on the vinyl monomers. The immobilization of the cellulose derivatives was more efficiently attained on the silica gel modified with a vinyl compound. The cellulose derivatives, randomly having a vinyl group at the 2-, 3-, or 6-position of the glucose unit, were prepared by a one-pot reaction. The immobilization efficiency of these derivatives was slightly lower than that of the derivative with the vinyl group at the 6-position. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Physical and gas transport properties of novel hyperbranched polyimide–silica hybrid membranes were investigated and compared with those of linear‐type polyimide–silica hybrid membranes with similar chemical structures. Hyperbranched polyamic acid, as a precursor, was prepared by polycondensation of a triamine, 1,3,5‐tris(4‐aminophenoxy)benzene (TAPOB), and a dianhydride, 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA). 6FDA‐TAPOB hyperbranched polyimide–silica hybrids were prepared using the polyamic acid, water, and tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) by sol–gel reaction. 5% weight‐loss temperature of the 6FDA‐TAPOB hyperbranched polyimide–silica hybrids determined by TG‐DTA measurement considerably increased with increasing silica content, indicating effective crosslinking at polymer–silica interface. CO2, O2, N2, and CH4 permeability coefficients of the 6FDA‐based polyimide–silica hybrids increased with increasing silica content. In addition, CO2/CH4 selectivity of the 6FDA‐TAPOB–silica hybrids remarkably increased with increasing silica content. From 129Xe NMR analysis, characteristic distribution and interconnectivity of cavities created around polymer–silica interface were suggested in the 6FDA‐TAPOB–silica hybrids. It was indicated that size‐selective separation ability is effectively brought by the incorporation of silica for the 6FDA‐TAPOB hyperbranched polyimide–silica hybrid membranes. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thin films of crosslinked polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) have been grafted on silica using the sol–gel process allowing further functionalization by effective quantitative hydrosilylation of SiH groups by olefins within the network. Postfunctionalization gives the polysiloxane network with n‐alkyl side chains. The PMHS coating was prepared by room temperature polycondensation of a mixture of methyldiethoxysilane HSiMe(OEt)2 monomer and triethoxysilane HSi(OEt)3 (TH) as crosslinker. The surface‐attached films are chemically stable and covalently bonded to the silica surface. Subsequently, films were functionalized without delamination. We showed by FTIR spectroscopy how the crosslinking ratio and the molecular size of the alkenes precursors influence the extent of the hydrosilylation reaction of SiH groups in the PMHS network. We have determined that quasi‐full olefin addition catalyzed by a platinum complex occurred within soft networks of less than 5% TH with 1‐alkenes CH2?CH(CH2)n‐2CH3 of various alkyl chain lengths (n = 5, 11, 17). Powders of PMHS gel were also modified with 1‐alkenes by hydrosilylation. The SiH groups within the soft gel (5% crosslinked) were fully functionalized as shown by 29Si and 1H solid‐state NMR. The structure of functionalized polysiloxane with n‐octadecyl and n‐dodecyl side chains was studied by FTIR, wide angle X‐ray diffraction, and DSC showing crystallization of the long n‐alkyl chains in the network. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
