Pulsed Field Gradients (PFGs) have become ubiquitous tools not only for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), but also for NMR experiments designed to study translational diffusion, for spatial encoding in ultra-fast spectroscopy, for the selection of desirable coherence transfer pathways, for the suppression of solvent signals, and for the elimination of zero-quantum coherences. Some of these experiments can only be carried out if three orthogonal gradients are available, while others can also be implemented using a single gradient, albeit at some expense of performance. This paper discusses some of the advantages of triple- with respect to single-gradient probes. By way of examples we discuss (i) the measurement of small diffusion coefficients making use of the long spin-lattice relaxation times of nuclei with low gyromagnetic ratios gamma such as nitrogen-15, and (ii) the elimination of zero-quantum coherences in Exchange or Nuclear Overhauser Spectroscopy (EXSY or NOESY) experiments, as well as in methods relying on long-lived (singlet) states to study very slow exchange or diffusion processes. 相似文献

Coherence selection gradients have been considered as indispensable for high-resolution NMR spectroscopy in inhomogeneous fields utilizing the CRAZED-type sequences. However, our experimental results demonstrate that these gradients can be omitted if an appropriate phase cycling is applied. The measured linewidth of reconstructing 1D high-resolution spectral peaks does not depend on the dipolar correlation distance determined by the coherence selection gradients, but is only affected by diffusion and T(2) relaxation. This finding suggests the need to reconsider the mechanism for the iMQC-based high-resolution spectroscopy. 相似文献

Over the past decade several pulsed field gradient stimulated-echo methods have been presented for diffusion measurements in heterogeneous media. These methods have reduced or eliminated the coupling between the applied magnetic field gradient and a constant internal magnetic field gradient caused by susceptibility changes throughout the sample. For many research purposes thez-storage delay between the second and third π/2 RF pulse has been included in order to increase the decay of the echo attenuation to an appropriate level and to increase the signal-to-noise ratio by avoidingT2relaxation of the magnetization in parts of the pulse sequence. For these reasons a stimulated-echo method has been applied instead of a spin-echo method. When studying systems where it is necessary to keep the duration of the pulse sequence at a minimum, and one is not dependent on usingz-storage time to increase the echo attenuation or to study diffusion as a function of observation time, a spin-echo method should be chosen. Here we propose a bipolar pulsed field gradient spin-echo method which is well suited to this purpose, and preliminary diffusion measurements are presented as illustration. 相似文献

Spatial susceptibility variations of body components lead to local gradients of the static magnetic field. Effects of such background gradients on fractional diffusion anisotropy (FA) measurements on whole-body magnetic resonance units operating at 1.5, 3.0 and 7.0 T were analyzed theoretically and experimentally. Analytical expressions were derived for the cases of diffusion occurring in isotropic media and in tissues with cylindrical symmetry (e.g., white matter tracts or skeletal musculature). Typical magnitudes of background gradient strengths were estimated from in vivo and in vitro measurements with B0 field mapping sequences. Additionally, numerical simulations of magnetic field distributions and resulting field gradients were performed considering tissue-air interfaces in simplified geometrical arrangements. For media with isotropic diffusion, both measurements and analytical calculations showed increasing FA inaccuracy with stronger coupling between diffusion-encoding and background gradients. For cylindrical symmetry, FA values were estimated for a standard diffusion tensor imaging protocol in a realistic scenario. At 1 mm distance from a water-air interface, susceptibility-related background gradients amount to approximately 9 mT/m at 7 T and lead to a relative error of the measured FA of up to 48%. The error in the anisotropy assessment rises considerably with increasing field strength and must be taken into account especially for experimental and clinical studies on modern high-field systems. 相似文献

This paper reports an experimental work on the convective heat transfer of ferrofluid flowing through a heated copper tube in the laminar regime in the presence of magnetic field. Significant enhancement on the heat transfer of ferrofluid by applying various orders of magnetic field is observed in this experiment. Also in this experiment, the effect of magnetic nanoparticles concentrations and magnet position have been investigated. The main reason for the enhancement of heat transfer coefficient could be caused due to remarkable changes in thermophysical properties of ferrofluid under the influence of applied magnetic field. 相似文献

A novel NMR spectrometer is described that is uniquely versatile in its ability to accurately record broad lines by sweeping the superconducting magnetic field and to perform standard high resolution solid state NMR experiments. Broadline observation is illustrated by 27Al spectra from static samples. Such an instrument opens up many nuclei for serious study by NMR in the solid state for the first time. 相似文献

Electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) was observed for the first time on a sample of 85Rb in a magneto-optical trap using low intensity cw copropagating pump and probe optical fields. Narrow resonances revealing the dependence of the ground-state Zeeman sublevels energy structure on the quadrupolar magnetic field and the trapping optical field intensity at different trap positions, were observed. Coherence resonances as narrow as 30 kHz were obtained under low trapping field intensities. The use of EIA spectroscopy for the magnetic field mapping of cold atomic samples is illustrated. 相似文献

We report on the measurements of the photoluminescence from the s-shell of a single InAs/GaAs quantum dot in magnetic fields up to 23 T. The observed multiline emission is attributed to different charge states of a single dot. A novel implementation of the water flipback technique employing a 45° flip-angle water-selective pulse is presented. The use of this water flipback technique is shown to significantly enhance signal in 3D 15N-edited ROESY in a 20 kDa complex of the vnd/NK-2 homeodomain bound to DNA. The enhancement is seen relative to the same experiment using weak water presaturation during the recovery delay. This enhancement is observed for the signals from both labile and nonlabile protons. ROESY and NOESY pulse sequences with 45° water flipback are presented using both HMQC and HSQC for the 15N dimension. The 45° flipback pulse is followed by a gradient, a water selective 180° pulse, and another gradient to remove quadrature images and crosspeak phase distortion near the water frequency. Radiation damping of the water magnetization during the t1 and t2 evolution periods is suppressed using gradients. Water resonance planes from NOESY–HMQC and NOESY–HSQC spectra show that the HMQC version of the pulse sequences can provide stronger signal for very fast exchanging protons. The HSQC versions of the ROESY and NOESY pulse sequences are designed for the quantitative determination of protein–water crossrelaxation rates, with no water-selective pulses during the mixing time and with phase cycling and other measures for reducing axial artifacts in the water signal. 相似文献

Excitation sculpting, a general method to suppress unwanted magnetization while controlling the phase of the retained signal [T.L. Hwang, A.J. Shaka, Water suppression that works. Excitation sculpting using arbitrary waveforms and pulsed field gradients, J. Magn. Reson. Ser. A 112 (1995) 275-279] is a highly effective method of water suppression for both biological and small molecule NMR spectroscopy. In excitation sculpting, a double pulsed field gradient spin echo forms the core of the sequence and pairing a low-power soft 180 degrees (-x) pulse with a high-power 180 degrees (x) all resonances except the water are flipped and retained, while the water peak is attenuated. By replacing the hard 180 degrees pulse in the double echo with a new phase-alternating composite pulse, broadband and adjustable excitation of large bandwidths with simultaneous high water suppression is obtained. This "Solvent-Optimized Gradient-Gradient Spectroscopy" (SOGGY) sequence is a reliable workhorse method for a wide range of practical situations in NMR spectroscopy, optimizing both solute sensitivity and water suppression. 相似文献

The paper presents a signal processing system used for nitrogen dioxide detection employing cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy.
In this system, the absorbing gas concentration is determined by the measurement of a decay time of a light pulse trapped
in a cavity.
The setup includes a resonance optical cavity, which was equipped with spherical and high reflectance mirrors, the pulsed
diode laser (414 nm) and electronic signal processing system. In order to ensure registration of low-level signals and accurate
decay time measurements, special preamplifier and digital signal processing circuit were developed.
Theoretical analyses of main parameters of optical cavity and signal processing system were presented and especially signal-to-noise
ratio was taken into consideration. Furthermore, investigation of S/N signal processing system and influence of preamplifier
feedback resistance on the useful signal distortion were described.
The aim of the experiment was to study potential application of cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy for construction of
fully optoelectronic NO2 sensor which could replace, e.g., commonly used chemical detectors. Thanks to the developed signal processing system, detection

对磁共振成像(MRI)的安全性进行了综述,主要涉及五个方面:静磁场、梯度场、射频场、噪声和造影剂.在没有铁磁性外源性物质的条件下,静磁场对人体没有明显的损害,有较高的安全系数.随时间变化的梯度场(dB/dt)可在受试者体内诱导出电场而兴奋神经或肌肉.当梯度上升时间只有数毫秒时,外周神经兴奋是梯度场安全的上限指标.在MRI测定过程中,射频场发射的功率在患者组织内转化成热能,使组织温度升高.MRI运行过程中可产生各种噪声,可能使某些患者的听力受到损伤,使用耳塞仍是削弱噪声最简单和最经济的方法.目前使用的造影剂主要为含钆的化合物,副作用发生率在2%~4%. 相似文献

Pulsed magnetic field gradients are essential for MR imaging and localized spectroscopy applications. However, besides the desired linear field gradients, pulsed currents in a strong external magnetic field also generate unwanted effects like eddy currents, gradient coil vibrations and acoustic noise. While the temporal magnetic field perturbations associated with eddy currents lead to spectral line shape distortions and signal loss, the vibration-related modulations lead to anti-symmetrical sidebands of any large signal (i.e. water), thereby obliterating the signals from low-concentration metabolites. Here the measurement, characterization and compensation of vibration-related magnetic field perturbations is presented. Following a quantitative evaluation of the various temporal components of the main magnetic field, a digital B0 magnetic field waveform is generated which reduces all temporal variations of the main magnetic field to within the spectral noise level. 相似文献

The spatial resolution in optical imaging is restricted by so‐called diffraction limit, which prevents it to be better than about half of the wavelength of the probing light. Tip‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS), which is based on the SPP‐induced plasmonic enhancement and confinement of light near a metallic nanostructure, can however, overcome this barrier and produce optical images far beyond the diffraction limit. Here in this article, the basic phenomenon involved in TERS is reviewed, and the high spatial resolution achieved in optical imaging through this technique is discussed. Further, it is shown that when TERS is combined with some other physical phenomena, the spatial resolution can be dramatically improved. Particularly, by including tip‐applied extremely localized pressure in TERS process, it has been demonstrated that a spatial resolution as high as 4 nm could be achieved. 相似文献

建立了两个两能级原子置于热辐射场环境中的模型,当计及原子偶极间的相互作用时,利用密度矩阵方法,得到两能级原子密度矩阵元随时间的演化规律.针对三种不同的初始状态,分析置于强热辐射场中原子量子态保真度.结果表明:两个原子初始处于不同量子叠加态,量子信息在传输过程中可能发生部分失真,也可能不失真.初始状态对量子信息失真的快慢程度有明显的影响. 相似文献

We report on photoluminescence measurements from a single InAs/GaAs quantum dot in magnetic fields up to 28 T. Mesa-patterned structure has been used to limit the number of investigated dots. Three pairs of Zeeman-split emission lines with the same effective g*-factor and diamagnetic shift have been observed. The attribution of the lines to recombination of a neutral exciton, a biexciton, and a charged exciton is discussed. 相似文献
