The existence of monotone and non-monotone solutions of boundary value problem on the real line for Liénard equation is studied. Applying the theory of planar dynamical systems and the comparison method of vector fields defined by Liénard system and the system given by symmetric transformation or quasi-symmetric transformation, the invariant regions of the system are constructed. The existence of connecting orbits can be proved. A lot of sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of solutions of the boundary value problem are obtained. Especially, when the source function is bi-stable, the existence of infinitely many monotone solusion is obtained.  相似文献

Non-linear boundary value problems for inelastic isotropic homogeneous incompressible bending plate, within the range of J2-deformation theory, are considered. An existence of the weak solution of the non-linear problem with clamped boundary condition is obtained in H2(Ω) by using monotone operator theory and Browder-Minty theorem. For linearization of the non-linear problem a monotone iteration scheme is constructed. It is shown that the sequence of potentials obtained from the sequence of approximate solutions (i.e. iterations), is a monotone decreasing one. Convergence of the iteration process in H2-norm is proved by using the convexity argument. Numerical solutions, based on finite-difference scheme, are given for linear bending problems with rigid clamped as well as simply supported boundary conditions. Further numerical examples are presented to illustrate the convergence of approximate solutions and monotonicity of the potentials as applied to the non-linear problems.  相似文献

The self-similar singular solution of the fast diffusion equation with nonlinear gradient absorption terms are studied. By a self-similar transformation, the self-similar solutions satisfy a boundary value problem of nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE). Using the shooting arguments, the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the initial data problem of the nonlinear ODE are investigated, and the solutions are classified by the region of the initial data. The necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of self-similar very singular solutions is obtained by investigation of the classification of the solutions. In this article we formulate a mathematical model for the temporally evolving microstructure generated by phase changes and study the homogenization of this model. The investigations are partially formal, since we do not prove existence or convergence of solutions of the microstructure model to solutions of the homogenized problem. To model the microstructure, the sharp interface approach is used. The evolution of the interface is governed by an everywhere defined distribution partial differential equation for the characteristic function of one of the phases. This avoids the disadvantage commonly associated with this approach of an evolution equation only defined on the interface. To derive the homogenized problem, a family of solutions of the microstructure problem depending on the fast variable is introduced. The homogenized problem obtained contains a history functional, which is defined by the solution of an initial-boundary value problem in the representative volume element. In the special case of a temporally fixed microstructure the homogenized problem is reduced to an evolution equation to a monotone operator. Received March 15, 2000  相似文献

This paper presents a new method for solving a nonlinear exterior boundary value problem arising in two-dimensional elasto-plasticity. The procedure is based on the introduction of a sufficiently large circle that divides the exterior domain into a bounded region and an unbounded one. This allows us to consider the Dirichlet-Neumann mapping on the circle, which provides an explicit formula for the stress in terms of the displacement by using an appropriate infinite Fourier series. In this way we can reduce the original problem to an equivalent nonlinear boundary value problem on the bounded domain with a natural boundary condition on the circle. Hence, the resulting weak formulation includes boundary and field terms, which yields the so called boundary-field equation method. Next, we employ the finite Fourier series to obtain a sequence of approximating nonlinear problems from which the actual Galerkin schemes are derived. Finally, we apply some tools from monotone operators to prove existence, uniqueness and approximation results, including Cea type error estimates for the corresponding discrete solutions.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the stability of traveling wave fronts for delayed monostable lattice differential equations. We first investigate the existence non-existence and uniqueness of traveling wave fronts by using the technique of monotone iteration method and Ikehara theorem. Then we apply the contraction principle to obtain the existence, uniqueness, and positivity of solutions for the Cauchy problem. Next, we study the stability of a traveling wave front by using comparison theorems for the Cauchy problem and initial-boundary value problem of the lattice differential equations, respectively. We show that any solution of the Cauchy problem converges exponentially to a traveling wave front provided that the initial function is a perturbation of the traveling wave front, whose asymptotic behaviour at \(-\infty \) satisfying some restrictions. Our results can apply to many lattice differential equations, for examples, the delayed cellular neural networks model and discrete diffusive Nicholson’s blowflies equation.  相似文献

在结构可靠性分析中,引入含可调参数的转换函数能对传统的最大熵方法进行改进,获得更高的失效概率预测精度。但是,此可调参数的最佳取值很难确定。针对这一问题,引入概率守恒方程,从功能函数转换前后所得概率密度函数出发,建立其最大熵值的变化关系,给出转换前后最大熵值之差的理论形式。通过对三种典型单调非线性转换函数开展算例研究,发现功能函数转换前后的最大熵值之差与转换函数的最佳可调参数值有关。改变可调参数值驱使最大熵值之差变化的同时,改进最大熵方法能遍历到更好的失效概率估计值。  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of monotone wavefronts for cooperative and partially degenerate reaction-diffusion systems. The existence of monostable wavefronts is established via the vector-valued upper and lower solutions method. It turns out that the minimal wave speed of monostable wavefronts coincides with the spreading speed. The existence of bistable wavefronts is obtained by the vanishing viscosity approach combined with the properties of spreading speeds in the monostable case.  相似文献

We develop a singular perturbation technique to study the existence of periodic traveling wave solutions with large wave speed for a class of reaction-diffusion equations with time delay and non-local response. Unlike the classical singular perturbation method, our approach is based on a transformation of the differential equations to integral equations in a Banach space that reduces the singular perturbation problem to a regular perturbation problem. The periodic traveling wave solutions then are obtained by the use of Liapunov-Schmidt method and a generalized implicit function theorem. The general result obtained has been applied to a non-local reaction-diffusion equation derived from an age-structured population model with a logistic type of birth function.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions are obtained for continuous dependence of solutions of boundary value problems of linear elasticity on internal constraints. Arbitrary hyperelastic materials with arbitrary (linear) internal constraints are included. In particular the results of Bramble and Payne, Kobelkov, Mikhlin for homogeneous, isotropic, incompressible materials are obtained as a special case. In the case of boundary value problem of place, a compatibility condition is obtained between the internal constraints and the boundary data which is necessary for the existence of solutions. With a further coercivity assumption on the compliance tensor, it is shown that the compatibility condition is also sufficient for existence. An orthogonal decomposition theorem for second order tensor fields modeled after Weyl's decomposition of solenoidal and gradient fields leads to the variational formulation of the problem and existence theorems.Almost all the results here apply to materials both with or without internal constraints. For internally constrained materials however, the verification of certain hypothesis is surprisingly non-trivial as indicated by the computation in the appendix.  相似文献

The principal focus of the article is the construction of classical weak solutions of the initial value problem for a class of systems of viscoelasticity in arbitrary spatial dimension. The class of systems studied is large enough to incorporate certain requirements dictated by frame indifference and also has a structure which allows for a variational treatment of the time-discretized problem. Weak solutions for this system are constructed under certain monotonicity hypotheses and are shown to satisfy various a priori estimates, in particular giving improved regularity for the time derivative. Also measure-valued solutions are obtained under a uniform dissipation condition, which is much weaker than monotonicity. A special case of the viscoelastic system is the gradient flow of a non-convex potential, for which measure-valued solutions are here obtained, a new result in the vectorial case. Furthermore, in this setting it is possible to show that these measure-valued solutions satisfy a certain property which ensures they coincide with the classical weak solution when this exists, as for example in the convex case where existence and uniqueness are well known.
