Under 254 nm irradiation, [Pt(bpy)Cl2] is converted to [Pt(bpy)Cl4] in a solvent-initiated process. The reaction is very nearly zero order throughout. The rate decreases slightly with increasing starting concentration. These characteristics can be rationalized by a rate law of the form afs, where fs is the fraction of light absorbed by chloroform. The species that reacts with [Pt(bpy)Cl2] is believed to be CCl3OO.  相似文献

The synthesis of a number of new 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, functionalized with bulky ester side groups, is reported (L2-L8). Their reaction with [Ru(DMSO)(4)Cl(2)] gives rise to tris-chelate ruthenium(II) metal complexes which show an unusually high proportion of the fac-isomer, as judged by (1)H NMR following conversion to the ruthenium(II) complex of 2,2'-bipyridine-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (L1). The initial reaction appears to have thermodynamic control with the steric bulk of the ligands causing the third ligand to be labile under the reaction conditions used, giving rise to disappointing yields and allowing rearrangement to the more stable facial form. DFT studies indicate that this does not appear to be as a consequence of a metal centered electronic effect. The two isomers of [Ru(L1)(3)](PF(6))(2) were separated into the two individual forms using silica preparative plate chromatographic procedures, and the photophysical characteristics of the two forms compared. The results appear to indicate that there is no significant difference in both their room temperature electronic absorption and emission spectra or their excited state lifetimes at 77 K.  相似文献

A series of complexes, [M(bpy)(SAr)2] (M = platinum(II) or palladium(II), bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, SAr = 2- or 4-(acylamino)benzenethiolate, or 2-(alkylcarbamoyl)benzenethiolate), were synthesized and characterized on the basis of 1H NMR, IR, and electrochemical properties. The structures of [Pt(bpy)(S-2-Ph3CCONHC6H4)2] (1) and [Pt(bpy)(S-2-t-BuNHCOC6H4)2] (3) were determined by X-ray analysis. The complexes have intramolecular NH...S hydrogen bonds between the amide NH group and the sulfur atom. A weak NH...S hydrogen bond in these complexes and [Pd(bpy)(S-2-Ph3CCONHC6H4)2] (4) is detected from the 1H NMR spectra and the IR spectra in chloroform and in the solid state. [Pt(bpy)(S-2-Ph3CCONHC6H4)2] (1) exhibits a remarkably high-energy-shifted lowest-energy band in UV-visible spectra and has a positively shifted oxidation potential. The blue-shift of 42 nm and the positive shift of +0.24 V, as compared to those of [Pt(bpy)(SC6H5)2), are due to the effect of the NH...S hydrogen bond.  相似文献

The behavior of light-emitting electrochemical cells (LEC) based on solid films ( approximately 100 nm) of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) between an ITO anode and a Ga-In cathode was investigated. The response times were strongly influenced by the nature of the counterion: small anions (BF(4)(-) and ClO(4)(-)) led to relatively fast transients, while large anions (PF(6)(-), AsF(6)(-)) produced a slow time-response. From comparative experiments of cells prepared and tested in a glovebox to those in ambient, mobility of the anions in these films appears to be related to the presence of traces of water from atmospheric moisture. An electrochemical model is proposed to describe the behavior of these LECs. The simulation results agreed well with experimental transients of current and light emission as a function of time and show that the charge injection is asymmetric at the two electrodes. At a small bias, electrons are the major carriers, while for a larger bias the conduction becomes bipolar.  相似文献

A small series of ruthenium(II) tris(2,2'-bipyridine) complexes has been synthesized in which ethynylated thiophene residues are attached to one of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands. The photophysical properties depend on the conjugation length of the thiophene-based ligand, and in each case, dual emission is observed. The two emitting states reside in thermal equilibrium at ambient temperature and can be resolved by emission spectral curve-fitting routines. This allows the properties of the two states to be evaluated in both fluid butyronitrile solution and a transparent KBr disk. It is concluded that both emitting states are of metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) character, and despite the presence of conjugated thiophene residues, there is no indication for a low-lying pi,pi*-triplet state that promotes nonradiative decay of the excited-state manifold. A key feature of these systems is that the conjugation length imposed by the thiophene-based ligand helps to control the rate constants for both radiative and nonradiative decay from the two MLCT triplet states.  相似文献

fac-Ruthenium(II) tris-(5-carboxy-2,2'-bipyridine) has been synthesised as a single geometric isomer for the first time, and proves to be a good 'building-block' to introduce new functionality with retention of the isomeric integrity.  相似文献

The formation and the decay of the triplet metal to ligand charge transfer state ((3)MLCT) of ruthenium(II) bis(2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine) (Ru(bpy)(2)(dcbpy)) were characterized using photoacoustic calorimetry. At pH 6 and 2, the (3)MLCT state formation leads to a volume change of -8 mL mol(-1) and enthalpy changes of 17 kcal mol(-1) and 13 kcal mol(-1), respectively. We attribute the volume contraction to structural changes and to solvent electrostriction. At pH 4, the photoexcitation of the complex leads to an expansion of 14 mL mol(-1) and an enthalpy change of approximately 119 kcal mol(-1) due to protonation of the carboxyl group in the excited state.  相似文献

The factors affecting the operating life of the light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) based on films of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) both in sandwich (using an ITO anode and a Ga:Sn cathode) and planar (using interdigitated electrode arrays (IDAs)) configurations were investigated. Stability of these devices is greatly improved when they are produced and operated under drybox conditions. The proposed mechanism of the LEC degradation involves formation of a quencher in a small fraction of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) film adjacent to the cathode, where light generation occurs, as follows from the observed electroluminescence profile in the LECs constructed on IDAs, showing that the charge injection in such devices is highly asymmetric, favoring hole injection. Bis(2,2'-bipyridine)diaquoruthenium(II) is presumed to be the quencher responsible for the device degradation. A microscopic study of photo- and electroluminescence profiles of planar light-emitting electrochemical cells was shown as a useful approach for studies of charge carrier injection into organic films.  相似文献

Complexes of the general formulae Mn(2-bpy)2(CCl3COO)2, Co(2-bpy)2(CCl3COO)2·H2O and Ni(2-bpy)2(CCl3COO)2·2H2O (where: 2-bpy=2,2'-bipyridine) have been prepared and characterized by VIS and IR spectroscopy, conductivity and magnetic measurements. The thermal properties of complexes in the solid state were studied under non-isothermal conditions in air atmosphere. During heating the complexes decompose via different intermediate products to the oxides Mn3O4, CoO and NiO. A coupled TG-MS system was used to detection the principal volatile products of thermal decomposition and fragmentation processes of obtained compounds. The principal volatile products of thermal decomposition of complexes are: H2O+, CO2 +, Cl2 + and other. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Three linkage isomers, bis(thiocyanato-S)(2,2'-bipyridine)platinum(II) ([Pt(SCN)(2)(bpy)]), (thiocyanato-S)(thiocyanato-N)(2,2'-bipyridine)platinum(II) ([Pt(SCN)(NCS)(bpy)]), and bis(thiocyanato-N)(2,2'-bipyridine)platinum(II) ([Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)]) were isolated, and their structures were elucidated. The crystal data are as follows: for [Pt(SCN)(2)(bpy)], C(12)H(8)N(4)S(2)Pt, orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1) (No. 19), a = 12.929(9) A, b = 18.67(1) A, c = 5.497(4) A, Z = 4; for [Pt(SCN)(NCS)(bpy)], C(12)H(8)N(4)S(2)Pt, monoclinic, P2(1)/n (No. 14), a = 10.909(7) A, b = 7.622(4) A, c = 16.02(1) A, beta = 102.323(7) degrees, Z = 4; for [Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)], C(12)H(8)N(4)S(2)Pt, orthorhombic, Pbcm (No. 57), a = 10.3233(8) A, b = 19.973(2) A, c = 6.4540(5) A, Z = 4. The stacking structures of the isomers were found to be different depending on the coordination geometries based on the N- and S-coordination of the thiocyanato ligands, which control the color and luminescence of the crystals sensitively. The isomerization behaviors of the complex have been investigated both in solution and in the solid state. In solution, stepwise thermal isomerization from [Pt(SCN)(2)(bpy)] to [Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)] by way of [Pt(SCN)(NCS)(bpy)] was observed using (1)H NMR spectroscopy. Reverse isomerization, from [Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)] to [Pt(SCN)(NCS)(bpy)] and [Pt(SCN)(2)(bpy)], occurred when irradiated with near ultraviolet (UV) light. In contrast, the [Pt(SCN)(2)(bpy)] yellow crystals exhibited thermal isomerization directly to red crystals of [Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)], as detected by changes in the emission spectrum, which indicates that the flip of two SCN(-) ligands correlatively occurred in the solid state. The yellow crystals of [Pt(SCN)(NCS)(bpy)] were also converted to the thermodynamically stable red crystal of [Pt(NCS)(2)(bpy)] though the reverse isomerization has never been observed to occur by photoirradiation in the solid state.  相似文献

The mixed-ligand polypyridine ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(bpy)(2)(dmeb)](2+)(PF(6)(-))(2) (Ru(dmeb)(2+)) and [Ru(bpy)(2)(dbeb)](2+)(PF(6)(-))(2) (Ru(dbeb)(2+)), where bpy is bipyridine, dmeb is 4,4'-dimethyl ester-2,2'-bipyridine, and dbeb is 4,4'-dibutyl ester-2,2'-bipyridine, are synthesized and characterized, and their spectroscopic, electrochemical, and electroluminescent properties are reported. Both Ru(II) complexes showed strong emission from the triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer excited state, red-shifted emission spectra (lambda(max) = 642 nm), and good solubility in organic solvents compared to the frequently used tris(bipyridine) Ru(II) complexes. The electrochemical measurements for these Ru complexes showed reversible and quasi-reversible redox processes, implying a potential improvement in the stability of the electroluminescent device. The electrophosphorescent devices were fabricated by doping them in a polymer host using a simple solution spin-coating technique. For a single-layer device with the 1.0 wt % Ru(dbeb)(2+)-doped polymer blends of poly(vinylcarbazole) (PVK) and 2-tert-butylphenyl-5-biphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol (PBD) as the emitting layer and with the metal Ba as the cathode, an external quantum efficiency of 3.0%, a luminous efficiency of 2.4 cd/A, and a maximum brightness of 935 cd/m(2) are reached with an electroluminescence (EL) spectral peak at 640 nm and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates of x = 0.64 and y = 0.33, which were comparable with standard red color.  相似文献

The formation of 1:1 adducts of Pt(bpy)2(2+) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) with various N bases (B) has been ascertained in water at ambient temperature by spectrophotometric titration and electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy. A pseudo-five-coordinated complex, [Pt(bpy)2(B)](2+) with a monodentating bpy, is proposed based on density functional theory calculation. The formation constants (Kc) increase with the nucleophilicity of B except for sterically hindered N-bases, indicating an associative ligand-substitution mechanism.  相似文献
