In this article, a proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method is used to study a classical splitting positive definite mixed finite element (SPDMFE) formulation for second-order hyperbolic equations. A POD reduced-order SPDMFE extrapolating algorithm with lower dimensions and sufficiently high accuracy is established for second-order hyperbolic equations. The error estimates between the classical SPDMFE solutions and the reduced-order SPDMFE solutions obtained from the POD reduced-order SPDMFE extrapolating algorithm are provided. The implementation for solving the POD reduced-order SPDMFE extrapolating algorithm is given. Some numerical experiments are presented illustrating that the results of numerical computation are consistent with theoretical conclusions, thus validating that the POD reduced-order SPDMFE extrapolating algorithm is feasible and efficient for solving second-order hyperbolic equations.  相似文献

This paper considers the updating problem of the hyperbolic matrix factorizations. The sufficient conditions for the existence of the updated hyperbolic matrix factorizations are first provided. Then, some differential inequalities and first order perturbation expansions for the updated hyperbolic factors are derived. These results generalize the corresponding ones for the updating problem of the classical QR factorization obtained by Jiguang SUN.  相似文献

A proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method was successfully used in the reduced-order modeling of complex systems. In this paper, we extend the applications of POD method, namely, apply POD method to a classical finite element (FE) formulation for second-order hyperbolic equations with real practical applied background, establish a reduced FE formulation with lower dimensions and high enough accuracy, and provide the error estimates between the reduced FE solutions and the classical FE solutions and the implementation of algorithm for solving reduced FE formulation so as to provide scientific theoretic basis for service applications. Some numerical examples illustrate the fact that the results of numerical computation are consistent with theoretical conclusions. Moreover, it is shown that the reduced FE formulation based on POD method is feasible and efficient for solving FE formulation for second-order hyperbolic equations.  相似文献

In the present work a fourth order accuracy decomposition scheme is constructed for a multidimensional nonhomogeneous hyperbolic equation on the basis of rational splitting of cosine operator-function. The main operator of the equation is self-adjoint and positive definite. The stability of the constructed scheme is shown and the error of the approximate solution is estimated. On the basis of the constructed scheme, numerical calculations of test problems for three-dimensional case are carried out. The numerical results obtained verify that the suggested scheme has a fourth order accuracy.  相似文献

Let M be a cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold containing an incompressible thrice punctured sphere S. Suppose that M is not the Whitehead link complement. We prove that a certain arc on S is isotopic to an edge of a Euclidean decomposition of M. By using the above result, we relate alternating knot diagrams and the canonical decompositions. Let K be an alternating hyperbolic knot. On a reduced alternating knot diagram of K, if we replace one of the crossings with a large number of half twists, the polar axis of the crossing is isotopic to an edge of the canonical decomposition for the resulting knot.  相似文献

The Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation represents the unidirectional propagation of nonlinear dispersive long waves, which has a clear physical background, and is a more suitable mathematical and physical equation than the KdV equation. Therefore, the research on the BBM equation is very important. In this article, we put forward an effective algorithm, the modified hyperbolic function expanding method, to build the solutions of the BBM equation. We, by utilizing the modified hyperbolic function expanding method, obtain the traveling wave solutions of the BBM equation. When the parameters are taken as special values, the solitary waves are also derived from the traveling waves. The traveling wave solutions are expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions and the rational functions. The modified hyperbolic function expanding method is direct, concise, elementary and effective, and can be used for many other nonlinear partial differential equations.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to study the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the hyperbolic fractional differential equations with integral conditions. Under suitable assumptions, the results are established by using an energy integral method which is based on constructing an appropriate multiplier. Further we find the solution of the hyperbolic fractional differential equations using Adomian decomposition method. Examples are provided to illustrate the theory.  相似文献

We discuss Cahn’s time cone method modelling phase transformation kinetics. The model equation by the time cone method is an integral equation in the space-time region. First, we reduce it to a system of hyperbolic equations, and in the case of odd spatial dimensions, the reduced system is a multiple hyperbolic equation. Next, we propose a numerical method for such a hyperbolic system. By means of alternating direction implicit methods, numerical simulations for practical forward problems are implemented with satisfactory accuracy and efficiency. In particular, in the three dimensional case, our numerical method on the basis of reduced multiple hyperbolic equation is fast.  相似文献

This paper establishes the existence of a gap for the stable length spectrum on a hyperbolic manifold. If M is a hyperbolic n-manifold, for every positive ϵ there is a positive δ depending only on n and on ϵ such that an element of π1(M) with stable commutator length less than δ is represented by a geodesic with length less than ϵ. Moreover, for any such M, the first accumulation point for stable commutator length on conjugacy classes is at least 1/12. Conversely, “most” short geodesics in hyperbolic 3-manifolds have arbitrarily small stable commutator length. Thus stable commutator length is typically good at detecting the thick-thin decomposition of M, and 1/12 can be thought of as a kind of homological Margulis constant. Some classes of singular systems of partial differential equations with variable matrix coefficients and internal hyperbolic structure are considered. In this paper we adopt the hyperboloid in Minkowski space asthe model of hyperbolic space. We define the hyperbolic Gaussmap and the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrix of a hypersurface inhyperbolic space. The hyperbolic Gauss map has been introducedby Ch. Epstein [J. Reine Angew. Math. 372 (1986) 96–135]in the Poincaré ball model, which is very useful forthe study of constant mean curvature surfaces. However, it isvery hard to perform the calculation because it has an intrinsicform. Here, we give an extrinsic definition and we study thesingularities. In the study of the singularities of the hyperbolicGauss map (indicatrix), we find that the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrixis much easier to calculate. We introduce the notion of hyperbolicGauss–Kronecker curvature whose zero sets correspond tothe singular set of the hyperbolic Gauss map (indicatrix). A hyperbolic 3-manifold is said to have the spd-property if all its closed geodesics are simple and pairwise disjoint. For a 3-manifold which supports a geometrically finite hyperbolic structure we show the following dichotomy: either the generic hyperbolic structure has the spd-property or no hyperbolic structure has the spd-property. Both cases are shown to occur. In particular, we prove that the generic hyperbolic structure on the interior of a handlebody (or a surface cross an interval) of negative Euler characteristic has the spd-property. Simplicity and disjointness are consequences of a variational result for hyperbolic surfaces. Namely, the intersection angle between closed geodesics varies nontrivially under deformation of a hyperbolic surface.  相似文献
