A cone confomational p-t-octylcalix[4]arene with four methylenephosphonic acids at the lower rim as well as its monomeric analog have been synthesized as a new extraction reagent to investigate the extraction behavior of the nine trivalent rare earth elements: Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho and Er. The new calix[4]arene exhibited significantly higher extraction capacity than not only the monomeric derivative and the commercial extraction reagent, 2-ethylhexyl hydrogen 2-ethylhexylphosphonate, but also the cone conformational calix[4]arene extractants employed in our previous work, composed of a tetrapropylenephosphonic acid with a longer spacer, a tetraphosphonic acid at the upper rim, and tetraacetic acid at the lower rim. A dependence on the pH was observed for the new extractant in the highly acidic region, and the extraction took place via a simple ion-exchange mechanism. Using slope analysis, the stoichiometries of tetrameric and monomeric extractants to rare earth metal ions were determined to be 2:1 and 3:1, respectively. Using the proposed extraction equations, extraction equilibrium constants and separation factors were estimated. The extremely high extraction ability and moderate separation efficiency were attributed to the chelating effect of the phosphonic acid and the phenoxy oxygen atom. The effect of the phenoxy oxygen atom on extraction ability and separation efficiency of calix[4]arene derivatives was found to be significant.  相似文献

Different diglycolamide (DGA)-substituted calix[4]arene-based extractants were synthesized and evaluated for the extraction of Am(III) and Eu(III), representative trivalent actinide and lanthanide ions, respectively. On the narrow rim of the calix[4]arene platform, the DGA moiety was either 1,3-di- or tetrasubstituted with a varying spacer length between the oxygen and amide nitrogen atom. In addition, DGA groups were appended both to the wide rim and to both rims of calix[4]arenes and their efficiencies were compared for Am(III) and Eu(III) extraction at three different feed acidities. The extraction and separation efficiencies strongly depended on the N-alkyl substituent as well as the spacer length. 1,3-Di-DGA-substituted calix[4]arenes are inferior extractants to the corresponding tetra-DGA-substituted ones. Narrow rim DGA-functionalized derivatives resulted in high extraction efficiencies, while the wide rim DGA-functionalized calix[4]arenes showed practically no extraction.  相似文献

Selective transmembrane carriers for a-hydroxy acids, acyclic a-amino phosphonates and calix[4]arenes containing a-aminophosphonate substituents at the lower rim have been synthesized; analytical HPLC has been used to monitor the selective separation of dicarboxylic, a-hydroxy and a-amino acid mixtures by membrane extraction; the attachment of a-aminophosphonate fragments to the macrocyclic calix[4]arene platform results in receptors with markedly modified efficiency and selectivity relative to those of only aminophosphonates.  相似文献

A series of stilbene-bridged calix[4]arenes was synthesized through an intramolecular reductive McMurry coupling of bisbenzaldehyde calix[4]arene in high yields. Tetra- and pentaethylene glycol chains were tethered to the phenolic groups of calix[4]arene to form stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown-5 and crown-6, respectively. The presence of stilbene bridge over the calix[4]arene rim effectively prevented the connection of the polyether chains in the cone conformation resulting in the exclusive formation of 1,3-alternate stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown product. Compared to the cone analogues, the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene crown ethers showed a greater extraction ability and selectivity toward Cs+.  相似文献

A series of calix[4]arene derivatives containing N or S atoms atthe lower rim were synthesized by etherification of OH groups and their metal-ion extraction abilities were studied. The extraction selectivity for Ag+ over other ions with these novel receptors was outstanding. Among these ligands, calix[4]arene podand, which possessed two linear ligands, has shown better binding ability with Ag+ than calix[4]crowns.  相似文献

The competitive solvent extraction of alkaline earth metals using different nano-baskets was investigated. The novelty of this work is to study the correlations between the isomer structure of calixarenes and their extraction properties. The objective was to quantify the effects of aryl groups in the ionisable pendant moieties, calixarene conformation, steric orientations (cis- and trans-) and relative positions (ortho- and para-) of pendant moieties upon the extraction efficiency, pH1/2 and the selectivity of calix[4]arene complexes. Alkaline earth metals were extracted from aqueous solutions into chloroform by di-ionisable calix[4]arenes and were measured using ion chromatography. The results revealed that alternation of aryl group in the pendant moieties, changing their orientation from cis- to trans-analogues as well as from ortho- to para- analogues, showed no changes in the selectivity, the extraction efficiency and the pH1/2 of calix[4]arene complexes. Changing the scaffold of calixarene's ring to the cone, 1,2-alternate and partial-cone conformers altered their complexation ability towards alkaline earth metals and their extraction efficiency.  相似文献

The binding properties of the cone conformer of O,O,O,O-tetrakis[hydrazinocarbonylmethyl]-4-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, the cone and the 1,3-alternate conformers of the corresponding thia analogue have been evaluated by means of liquid–liquid extraction for a large variety of metal ions. The extraction constants and the stoichiometries of the complexes formed have been determined. Comparison of the extraction properties of calix[4]arenes with their acyclic monomeric analogue clearly demonstrated, that the preorganization of acetylhydrazide groups on the calix[4]arene platform is the cause for a significant improvement of its binding properties. The presence of additional “soft” nitrogen binding sites in acetylhydrazide derivatives of calix[4]arenes compared to their amide derivatives leads to a shift from their classical selectivity for alkali and alkaline earth cations to transition metals. The cone conformer of tetrathiacalix[4]arene shows higher selectivity in a series of d-metal ions compared with its “classical” analogue. The 1,3-alternate conformer exhibits an excellent extraction selectivity for Cu2+ and Hg2+.  相似文献

The complexing ability of a range of 19 symmetrical, unsymmetrical and bridged calix[4]arene derivatives having ester, ketone, amide, amine and thioether functionalities were determined by the picrate extraction method. On incorporating these calix[4]arene derivatives as neutral carrier ionophores in sodium-selective poly (vinyl chloride) membrane electrodes the performance was assessed on the basis of the sensitivity and selectivity over the alkali, alkaline earth metals and hydrogen and ammonium ions. The temperature dependence, response times and lifetimes were also determined. Four ionophores in particular gave excellent sensitivity and selectivity and lifetimes of > 200 days. These electrodes were then tested without additional lipophilic additives and one ionophore was incorporated into poly (vinyl chloride) membrane electrodes with plasticizing solvents of varying polarity.  相似文献

Two series of di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-5 isomers in the cone conformation are synthesized to probe the effect of the pendant acidic group location on their metal ion extraction properties. In one series, the ionizable groups are attached to the lower rim of the calix[4]arene scaffold, which orients them near the crown ether cavity. In the second series, the ionizable groups are connected to the upper rim positioning them away from the crown ether ring, but close to the hydrophobic pocket of the calix[4]arene unit. The metal ion extraction behaviors of the two series of ligands are compared in extractions of alkaline earth metal cations, Hg2+, and Pb2+.  相似文献

The extraction ability of phenyl hydrazone derivatives of cone- and 1,3-alternate tetrathiacalix[4]arenes towards to some alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions has been investigated by picrate extraction method. The synthesized cone-tetrathiacalix[4]arene hydrazones show a high efficiency coupled with an excellent selectivity towards for Ag+ and Hg2+ ions. The stoichiometry of complexes and the extraction constants have been determined. The influence of calix[4]arene platform’s structure and the electron donor substituents in phenyl fragments on the extraction efficiency has been discussed.  相似文献

Three calix[6]arene derivatives (1a-c) and two calix[8]arene derivatives (2a,b), with six and eight CMPO residues, respectively, attached to the narrow/lower rim via ether links, were synthesised. Preliminary liquid-liquid extraction studies for Eu(III) and Am(III) from aqueous nitric acid to o-nitrophenylhexyl ether reveal remarkable properties with respect to efficiency and selectivity, especially for the tert-butylcalix[6]arene derivative with a -(CH2)3- spacer.  相似文献

The article describes the synthesis and extraction properties of new (S)-(-)-1-phenylethylamine substituted p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene/calix[4]arene. These compounds have been synthesized via nucleophilic substitution reactions involving 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetra(2-hydroxyethoxy)calix[4]arene (4a), or 5,11,17,23-tetra-H-25,26,27,28-tetra(2-hydroxyethoxy)calix[4]arene (4b) with (S)-(-)-1-phenylethylamine in dry THF. The extraction properties of ligands 5a and 5b towards the some selected α-amino acid methylesters and chiral α-amines are also reported. It has been observed that receptor 5a was an excellent ionophore for α-amino acid methylesters/α-amines and good extractant than 5b. Novel chiral calix[4]arene derivatives functionalized at the lower rim have been prepared from the reaction of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene diamine or acylhydrazine derivative with mandelic acid or hydroxyisovaleric acid. The structures of these receptors were characterized by FTIR, 1H, 13C and 2D COSY NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The transport of amino acid derivatives (phenylalanine, phenylglycine and tryptophan methyl ester hydrochlorides) was studied through bulk liquid membrane in the presence of chiral calix[4]arene derivatives. The receptors have been found to act as carriers for transport of aromatic amino acid methylesters from the aqueous source phase to the aqueous receiving phase. The transport rate and L/D selectivity of amino acid esters studied depend strongly upon the structure of the chiral receptors and guests. The best enantioselectivity was obtained in the case of phenylglycine methyl ester for all chiral carriers.  相似文献

A seemingly ipso-like nucleophilic substitution of the upper rim of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene is accomplished by an indirect method involving calix[4]arene derived bis(spirodienone). This method not only provides both mono and 1,3-diaryloxy calixarenes but also enables the synthesis of upper rim monothio substituted calix[4]arenes. A modification of the methodology can be successfully extended for the selective synthesis of mono- and 1,3-diquinone calix[4]arenes having free hydroxyl groups at the lower rim, in fewer steps.  相似文献

Complexation behavior of plural ion-exchangeable p?Ct-butylcalix[5]arene pentacarboxylic acid derivative towards trivalent indium has been investigated along with its monomeric analog from weakly acidic media into chloroform. The cyclic structure of calixarene ligand providing certain cavity and cooperativity of functional groups significantly affect the complexation behavior and calixarene derivative is an excellent extractant over monomeric analog. The extraction mechanism is ion exchange and carboxylic acid groups are adequate functional sites for extraction. Mononuclear and/or polynuclear species of indium and monomeric or bridged dimeric species of calixarene are involved in complexation and the composition of extracted complex varied with solution pH. One mole of calix[5]arene derivative tend to extract 3.5 mol of indium. The loaded indium was quantitatively back extracted with 1 mol dm?3 hydrochloric acid solution.  相似文献

25,26,27,28-tetrakis(N,N-diethylaminocarbonylmethoxy)-5,11,17,23-tetrakis(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)calix[4]arene, a macrocyclic extraction reagent, and p-(1,1,3,3-tetra-methylbutyl)phenoxymethyl-N,N-diethylamide, an acyclic extraction reagent corresponding to the former one, were synthesized to investigate their extraction behavior for silver(I), gold(III), palladium(II), and platinum(IV) from highly acidic solution into chloroform. In the extraction of silver and gold from hydrochloric acid solution, a completely different extraction behavior was observed between these two types of the reagents. The extraction behavior was examined in detail for silver and was found to be dependent on whether silver ion was extracted as a cationic species or a anionic species complexed with chloride ion. This was supported by proton nuclear magnetic resonance study of the calix[4]arene derivative. As a result, the extraction of silver ion with calix[4]arene derivative was very peculiar which was attributable to the fitting between cyclic size of calix[4]arene and ionic radius of silver.  相似文献

Novel calix[4]arene amides have been synthesized and their interaction with alkaline cations has been evaluated through extracting aqueous solutions of Li-, Na- and K-picrates with solutions of calix[4]arene amides in CH2Cl2. Electron-withdrawing groups on the upper rim of the calix[4]arene scaffold were found to have a negative effect on the absolute amount of metal ions extracted. The decreased extraction ability is accompanied by a higher selectivity towards sodium cations.  相似文献

Novel proton di-ionizable p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene-crown-6 compounds in cone, partial-cone and 1,3-alternate conformations are synthesized to compare the efficiency and selectivity with which they extract alkaline earth metal ions. In these ligands, a crown-6 polyether unit links alternate aromatic rings of the calix[4]arene framework. To the remaining lower-rim positions are attached oxyacetic acid or N-(X)sulfonyl oxyacetamide groups. Changing the conformation varies the spatial relationship between a polyether-complexed divalent metal ion and the ionized side arms of the ligands. This is found to markedly affect the efficiency and selectivity in competitive solvent extraction of alkaline earth metal ions from aqueous solutions into chloroform by the di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-6 ligands.  相似文献

For an assessment of the outcomes from use of an appropriately "preorganized" calixarene-based ionophore versus its conformationally mobile prototype, solvent extraction propensities of flexible calix[4]arene di-[N-(X-sulfonyl)carboxamides] for alkali, alkaline earth metal cations, Pb2+, Ag+ and Hg2+ are compared with those for seven new rigid analogs fixed in the cone, partial cone and 1,3-alternate conformations. For each of the metal ions, the preferred calix[4]arene conformation was determined from the NMR spectra for the metal salt of the flexible ligand. Except for Ag+, flexible calix[4]arene di-[N-(X-sulfonyl)carboxamides] were found to provide greater metal ion extraction efficiency and better selectivity than the corresponding "preorganized" ionophores.  相似文献
