Let K denote a locally compact commutative hypergroup, L 1(K) the hypergroup algebra, and α a real-valued hermitian character of K. We show that K is α-amenable if and only if L 1(K) is α-left amenable. We also consider the α-amenability of hypergroup joins and polynomial hypergroups in several variables as well as a single variable.  相似文献

Let A be a closed subalgebra of the complex Banach algebra C(S), containing the constant functions. We assume that one has found a probability measureμ on S and a function F from L(μ) such that: 1)|F|= 1 a.e. relative to μ; 2) F μ ε A1; 3) F is a limit point of the unit ball of the algebra A in the topology δ(L(μ), L1(μ)). One proves in the paper that under these conditions the space A** contains a complement space, isometric to H. The measure μ and the function F, satisfying the conditions l)-3) indeed exist if the maximal ideal space of the algebra A contains a non-one-point part (and it is very likely that such aμ. and F exist whenever the algebra A is not self-adjoint). Thus, the above-formulated result allows us to extend A. Pelczynski's theorem (Ref, Zh. Mat., 1975, 1B894) regarding the space H to a very broad class of uniform algebras. LetGbe a locally compact group. In this paper we study moduli of products of elements and of multipliers of Banach algebras which are related to locally compact groups and which admit lattice structure. As a consequence, we obtain a characterization of operators onL(G) which commute with convolutions whenGis amenable as discrete.  相似文献

It is classical that amongst all spaces Lp (G), 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞, for , or say, only L2 (G) (that is, p = 2) has the property that every bounded Borel function on the dual group Γ determines a bounded Fourier multiplier operator in L2 (G). Stone’s theorem asserts that there exists a regular, projection-valued measure (of operators on L2 (G)), defined on the Borel sets of Γ, with Fourier-Stieltjes transform equal to the group of translation operators on L2 (G); this fails for every p ≠ 2. We show that this special status of L2 (G) amongst the spaces Lp (G), 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞, is actually more widespread; it continues to hold in a much larger class of Banach function spaces defined over G (relative to Haar measure).   相似文献

We compute the Drinfel’d double for the bicrossproduct multiplier Hopf algebra A = k[G] ⋊ K(H) associated with the factorization of an infinite group M into two subgroups G and H. We also show that there is a basis-preserving self-duality structure for the multiplier Hopf algebra A = k[G] ⋊ K(H) if there is a factor-reversing group isomorphism. Presented by A. The Isomorphism Problem for Universal Enveloping Algebras of Lie Algebras   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let L be a Lie algebra with universal enveloping algebra U(L). We prove that if H is another Lie algebra with the property that U(L) ≅ U(H) then certain invariants of L are inherited by H. For example, we prove that if L is nilpotent then H is nilpotent with the same class as L. We also prove that if L is nilpotent of class at most two then L is isomorphic to H. Presented by D. Passman  相似文献

In the present paper, it is shown that, for a locally compact commutative hypergroup K with a Borel measurable weight function w, the Banach algebra L^1 (K, w) is semisimple if and only if L^1 (K) is semisimple. Indeed, we have improved compact groups to the general setting of locally a well-krown result of Bhatt and Dedania from locally compact hypergroups.  相似文献

Let D be a bounded homogeneous domain in ℂ n . In this paper, we study the bounded and the compact weighted composition operators mapping the Hardy space H (D) into the Bloch space of D. We characterize the bounded weighted composition operators, provide operator norm estimates, and give sufficient conditions for compactness. We prove that these conditions are necessary in the case of the unit ball and the polydisk. We then show that if D is a bounded symmetric domain, the bounded multiplication operators from H (D) to the Bloch space of D are the operators whose symbol is bounded.  相似文献

Let K be a field of characteristic zero. For a torsion-free finitely generated nilpotent group G, we naturally associate four finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras over K, ? K (G), grad(?)(? K (G)), grad(g)(exp ? K (G)), and L K (G). Let 𝔗 c be a torsion-free variety of nilpotent groups of class at most c. For a positive integer n, with n ≥ 2, let F n (𝔗 c ) be the relatively free group of rank n in 𝔗 c . We prove that ? K (F n (𝔗 c )) is relatively free in some variety of nilpotent Lie algebras, and ? K (F n (𝔗 c )) ? L K (F n (𝔗 c )) ? grad(?)(? K (F n (𝔗 c ))) ? grad(g)(exp ? K (F n (𝔗 c ))) as Lie algebras in a natural way. Furthermore, F n (𝔗 c ) is a Magnus nilpotent group. Let G 1 and G 2 be torsion-free finitely generated nilpotent groups which are quasi-isometric. We prove that if G 1 and G 2 are relatively free of finite rank, then they are isomorphic. Let L be a relatively free nilpotent Lie algebra over ? of finite rank freely generated by a set X. Give on L the structure of a group R, say, by means of the Baker–Campbell–Hausdorff formula, and let H be the subgroup of R generated by the set X. We show that H is relatively free in some variety of nilpotent groups; freely generated by the set X, H is Magnus and L ? ??(H) ? L ?(H) as Lie algebras. For relatively free residually torsion-free nilpotent groups, we prove that ? K and L K are isomorphic as Lie algebras. We also give an example of a finitely generated Magnus nilpotent group G, not relatively free, such that ??(G) is not isomorphic to L ?(G) as Lie algebras.  相似文献

The purpose of this note is to describe some algebraic conditions on a Banach algebra which force it to be finite dimensional. One of the main results in Theorem 2 which states that for a locally compact groupG, G is compact if there exists a measure μ in Soc(L 1(G)) such that μ(G) ≠ 0. We also prove thatG is finite if Soc(M(G)) is closed and every nonzero left ideal inM(G) contains a minimal left ideal.  相似文献

Let (S,d,ρ) be the affine group ℝ n ⋉ℝ+ endowed with the left-invariant Riemannian metric d and the right Haar measure ρ, which is of exponential growth at infinity. In this paper, for any linear operator T on (S,d,ρ) associated with a kernel K satisfying certain integral size condition and H?rmander’s condition, the authors prove that the following four statements regarding the corresponding maximal singular integral T are equivalent: T is bounded from LcL_{c}^{\infty} to BMO, T is bounded on L p for all p∈(1,∞), T is bounded on L p for some p∈(1,∞) and T is bounded from L 1 to L 1,∞. As applications of these results, for spectral multipliers of a distinguished Laplacian on (S,d,ρ) satisfying certain Mihlin-H?rmander type condition, the authors obtain that their maximal singular integrals are bounded from LcL_{c}^{\infty} to BMO, from L 1 to L 1,∞, and on L p for all p∈(1,∞).  相似文献

LetG be a locally compact abelian group and Γ its dual group. For any closedHG denote the algebra of restrictions toH of Fourier transforms of functions inL 1(Γ) byA(H). This paper considers certain Cantor like sets inR and ΠZ m(j) and gives some necessary algebraic criterion fornatural isomorphisms of their restriction algebras. Let G be a bounded open subset in the complex plane and let H~2(G) denote the Hardy space on G. We call a bounded simply connected domain W perfectly connected if the boundary value function of the inverse of the Riemann map from W onto the unit disk D is almost 1-1 with respect to the Lebesgue measure on D and if the Riemann map belongs to the weak-star closure of the polynomials in H~∞(W). Our main theorem states: in order that for each M∈Lat (M_z), there exist u∈H~∞(G) such that M=∨{uH~2(G)}, it is necessary and sufficient that the following hold: (1) each component of G is a perfectly connected domain; (2) the harmonic measures of the components of G are mutually singular; (3) the set of polynomials is weak-star dense in H~∞(G). Moreover, if G satisfies these conditions, then every M∈Lat (M_z) is of the form uH~2(G), where u∈H~∞(G) and the restriction of u to each of the components of G is either an inner function or zero.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group, ω be a weight function on G and 1 < p < ∞. Here, we give a sufficient condition for that the weighted L p -space L p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra. Also, we get some necessary conditions on G and the weight function ω for L p (G, ω) to be a Banach algebra. As a consequence, we show that if G is abelian and L p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra, then G is σ-compact.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of generalized E-stable ranks for commutative unital Banach algebras and determine these ranks for the disk-algebra A(\mathbbD){A(\mathbb{D})}, many of its subalgebras, and the algebra H of bounded holomorphic functions in the unit disk. Relations to L-sets and separating algebras, notions due to Csordas and Reiter, are given, too. Finally we show that the absolute stable rank of A(\mathbbD){A(\mathbb{D})} and H is bigger than 2.  相似文献

Let H be a complex Hilbert space of dimension greater than 2, and B(H) denote the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators on H. For A, BB(H), define the binary relation A ≤* B by A*A = A*B and AA* = AB*. Then (B(H), “≤*”) is a partially ordered set and the relation “≤*” is called the star order on B(H). Denote by Bs(H) the set of all self-adjoint operators in B(H). In this paper, we first characterize nonlinear continuous bijective maps on B s (H) which preserve the star order in both directions. We characterize also additive maps (or linear maps) on B(H) (or nest algebras) which are multiplicative at some invertible operator.  相似文献

Given a probability measure μ on a locally compact second countable groupG the space of bounded μ-harmonic functions can be identified withL (η, α) where (η, α) is a BorelG-space with a σ-finite quasiinvariant measure α. Our goal is to show that when μ is an arbitrary spread out probability measure on a connected solvable Lie groupG then the μ-boundary (η, α) is a contractive homogeneous space ofG. Our approach is based on a study of a class of strongly approximately transitive (SAT) actions ofG. A BorelG-space η with a σ-finite quasiinvariant measure α is called SAT if it admits a probability measurev≪α, such that for every Borel set A with α(A)≠0 and every ε>0 there existsgG with ν(gA)>1−ε. Every μ-boundary is a standard SATG-space. We show that for a connected solvable Lie group every standard SATG-space is transitive, characterize subgroupsHG such that the homogeneous spaceG/H is SAT, and establish that the following conditions are equivalent forG/H: (a)G/H is SAT; (b)G/H is contractive; (c)G/H is an equivariant image of a μ-boundary.  相似文献

Let 𝔄 denote the C*-algebra of bounded operators on L 2 ℝ generated by: (i) all multiplications a(M) by functions aC[ − ∞, + ∞], (ii) all multiplications by 2π-periodic continuous functions, and (iii) all operator of the form F −1 b(M)F, where F denotes the Fourier transform and bC[ − ∞, + ∞]. A given A ∈ 𝔄 is a Fredholm operator if and only if σ(A) and γ(A) are invertible, where σ denotes the continuous extension of the usual principal symbol, while γ denotes an operator-valued “boundary principal symbol” (the “boundary” here consists of two copies of the circle, one at each end of the real line). We give two proofs of the fact that K 0(𝔄) is isomorphic to ℤ and that K 1(𝔄) is isomorphic to ℤ ⊕ ℤ . We do it first by computing the connecting mappings in the six-term exact sequence associated to σ. For the second proof, we show that the image of γ is isomorphic to the direct sum of two copies of the crossed product , where α denotes the translation-by-one automorphism. Its K-theory can be computed using the Pimsner–Voiculescu exact sequence, and that information suffices for the analysis of the standard cyclic exact sequence associated to γ. For a compact subset K in the complex plane, let A(K) denote the algebra of all functions continuous on K and analytic on K° and let R(K) denote the uniform closure of the rational functions with poles off K. Let G is a bounded open subset whose complement in the plane has a finite number of components. Suppose that and every function in H(G) is the pointwise limit of a bounded sequence of functions in . The purpose of this paper is to characterize all subnormal operators similar to Mz, the operator of multiplication by the independent variable z on the Hardy space H2(G). We also characterize all bounded linear operators that are unitarily equivalent to Mz in the case when each of the components of G is simply connected. In particular, our similarity result extends a well-known result of W. Clary on the unit disk to multiply connected domains.  相似文献

We compute the essential norm of a composition operator relatively to the class of Dunford-Pettis operators or weakly compact operators, on some uniform algebras of analytic functions. Even in the context of H (resp. the disk algebra), this is new, as well for the polydisk algebras and the polyball algebras. This is a consequence of a general study of weighted composition operators.   相似文献
