Manpower scheduling is an intricate problem in production and service environments with the purpose of generating fair schedules that consider employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences as much as possible. However, sometimes, vagueness of information related to employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences leads to the fuzzy nature of the problem. This paper presents a multi-objective manpower scheduling model regarding the lack of clarity on the target values of employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences. Hence, a fuzzy goal programming model is developed for the presented model. Afterwards, two fuzzy solution approaches are used to convert the fuzzy goal programming model to two single-objective models. Finally, the results obtained by both single-objective models are compared with each other to select the solution that has the greatest degree of the satisfaction level of employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences.  相似文献

For many years the L.P. transportation technique has been proved to be an effective means of tackling production planning in the food industry. As the plan approaches implementation however, the objectives can change from ones of cost minimisation to those of utilising existing company resources. This paper describes the modifications which are required to the formulation in order to satisfy these new objectives, and is based on a study of production scheduling undertaken for a large food manufacturer.  相似文献

The performance of a scheduling system, in practice, is not evaluated to satisfy a single objective, but to obtain a trade-off schedule regarding multiple objectives. Therefore, in this research, I make use of multiple objective decision-making method, a global criterion approach, to develop a multi-objective scheduling problem model with different due-dates on parallel machines processes, in which consider three performance measures, namely minimum run time of every machine, earlierness time (no tardiness) and process time of every job, simultaneously. According to this special multi-objective scheduling problem, the method of reverse order drawing GATT will be proposed, at the same time, bring forward a united search particle swarm optimization algorithm (USPSOA) solves this multi-objective scheduling problem. The validity and adaptability of the USPSOA is investigated through experimental results.  相似文献

Discrete event simulation is becoming an established tool in finite capacity scheduling. However, recent work on scheduling systems has concentrated on the development of different modelling approaches and tools, without proper examination of how they can be used to meet business objectives. This paper examines the role of scheduling in improving business performance and suggests possible considerations in the development and implementation of a finite capacity scheduler. It reviews the advantages and limitations of discrete event simulation as a modelling technique for scheduling, and argues the need for further research to develop more versatile tools. A simulation-based scheduling system incorporating bottleneck planning principles to maintain throughput with low inventory is described, as are the experiences gained during its implementation in a medium-sized press shop.  相似文献

The hot metal is produced from the blast furnaces in the iron plant and should be processed as soon as possible in the subsequent steel plant for energy saving. Therefore, the release times of hot metal have an influence on the scheduling of a steel plant. In this paper, the scheduling problem with release times for steel plants is studied. The production objectives and constraints related to the release times are clarified, and a new multi-objective scheduling model is built. For the solving of the multi-objective optimization, a hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is proposed. In the hybrid multi-objective algorithm, an efficient decoding heuristic (DH) and a non-dominated solution construction method (NSCM) are proposed based on the problem-specific characteristics. During the evolutionary process, individuals with different solutions may have a same chromosome because the NSCM constructs non-dominated solutions just based on the solution found by DH. Therefore, three operations in the original NSGA-II process are modified to avoid identical chromosomes in the evolutionary operations. Computational tests show that the proposed hybrid algorithm based on NSGA-II is feasible and effective for the multi-objective scheduling with release times.  相似文献

This paper describes a computer-based experiment in the scheduling of multiactivity projects with limited resources. The main interest lay in a comparison of the traditional sorting criteria used to allot priority to activities competing for resources inadequate to satisfy all the demands and criteria newly defined for this work. One aim was to isolate, if possible, a criterion equally as good as the Critical Path parameters usually employed and yet easier to compute in practice. A similar experiment was carried out by Pascoe but none of the criteria used satisfied the second condition. It was also possible to monitor the effects on the scheduling of network parameters such as shape and connectivity.  相似文献

Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV)-based material handling systems (MHS) are used widely in Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS). The problem of AGV consists of the decisions and the operational control strategies of dispatching, routeing and scheduling of a set of AGVs under given system environments and operational objectives. One remaining challenge is to develop effective methods of AGV decisions for improved system productivity. This paper describes a prototype neural network approach for the AGV problem in an FMS environment. A group of neural network models are proposed to perform dispatching and routeing tasks for the AGV under conditions of single or multiple vehicles, and with or without time windows. The goal is to satisfy the transport requests in the shortest time and in a non-conflicting manner, subject to the global manufacturing objectives. Based on Kohonen's self-organizing feature maps, we have developed efficient algorithms for the AGVs decisions, and simulation results have been very encouraging.  相似文献

When solving a product/process design problem, we must exploit the available degrees of freedom to cope with a variety of issues. Alternative process plans can be generated for a given product, and choosing one of them has implications on manufacturing functions downstream, including planning/scheduling. Flexible process plans can be exploited in real time to react to machine failures, but they are also relevant for off-line scheduling. On the one hand, we should select a process plan in order to avoid creating bottleneck machines, which would deteriorate the schedule quality; on the other one we should aim at minimizing costs. Assessing the tradeoff between these possibly conflicting objectives is difficult; actually, it is a multi-objective problem, for which available scheduling packages offer little support. Since coping with a multi-objective scheduling problem with flexible process plans by an exact optimization algorithm is out of the question, we propose a hierarchical approach, based on a decomposition into a machine loading and a scheduling sub-problem. The aim of machine loading is to generate a set of efficient (non-dominated) solutions with respect to the load balancing and cost objectives, leaving to the user the task of selecting a compromise solution. Solving the machine loading sub-problem essentially amounts to selecting a process plan for each job and to routing jobs to the machines; then a schedule must be determined. In this paper we deal only with the machine loading sub-problem, as many scheduling methods are already available for the problem with fixed process plans. The machine loading problem is formulated as a bicriterion integer programming model, and two different heuristics are proposed, one based on surrogate duality theory and one based on a genetic descent algorithm. The heuristics are tested on a set of benchmark problems.  相似文献

This paper considers a scheduling problem in a two-machine flowshop of two batch processing machines. On each batch processing machine, jobs are processed in a batch, and each batch is allowed to contain jobs up to the maximum capacity of the associated machine. The scheduling problem is analyzed with respect to three due date related objectives including maximum tardiness, number of tardy jobs and total tardiness. In the analysis, several solution properties are characterized and based upon these properties, three efficient polynomial time algorithms are developed for minimizing the due date related measures.  相似文献

Many organizations face employee scheduling problems under conditions of variable demand for service over the course of an operating day and across a planning horizon. These organizations are concerned with the tour scheduling problem that involves assigning shifts and break times to the work days of employees and allocating days off to individual work schedules. Nowadays, organizations try to adopt various scheduling flexibility alternatives to meet the fluctuating service demand. On the other hand, they have also realized that providing employee productivity and satisfaction is as much important as meeting the service demand. Up to date, tour scheduling solution approaches have neglected considering employee preferences and tried to develop work schedules for employees in a subsequent step. This paper presents a goal programming model that implicitly represents scheduling flexibility and also incorporates information about the preferred working patterns of employees. After solving the proposed model, a work schedule will be generated for each employee without requiring a further step for the assignment of shifts, break times, and work days to employees. The model is capable of handling multiple scheduling objectives, and it can produce optimal solutions in very short computing times.  相似文献

针对蔬果类商品网上直销模式下,其标准销售单元包装作业问题规模大、商品品类多、订单个性化强、生产配送周期多等特点,基于批量流水作业生产、JIT准时制生产及周期调度的思想,研究该类商品标准销售单元包装作业的生产调度问题,建立蔬果类商品网上直销包装作业优化模型,并设计改进的“模拟增压——退火算法”对其进行求解,以便制定出合理的包装作业计划,有效衔接采摘和订单分拣作业以及后续装车作业,缩短包装时间,保证蔬菜的新鲜性。最后,通过应用实例验证模型和算法的有效性,结果表明,本文周期调度方法得到的调度方案比一般的非周期调度方法大大节约了包装作业成本,为蔬果类商品网上直销企业生成包装作业计划提供了理论指导。  相似文献

项目调度中的时间和费用是两个重要的指标,而在不确定环境下进度计划的鲁棒性则是保证项目平稳实施的关键。本文研究不确定环境下的多目标项目调度优化问题,以优化项目的工期、鲁棒值和成本为目标安排各活动的开始时间。基于此,作者构建多目标项目调度优化模型,将模型分解为三个子模型分析目标间的权衡关系,然后设计非劣排序遗传算法进行求解,应用精英保留策略和基于子模型权衡关系的优化策略优化算法,进行算法测试和算例参数敏感性分析。最后,应用上述方法研究一个项目实例,计算得到非劣解集,实例的敏感性分析结果进一步验证了三个目标间的权衡关系,据此提出资源的有效利用策略。本文的研究可以为多目标项目调度制定进度计划提供定量化决策支持。  相似文献

A heuristic scheduling policy is introduced for a multi-item, single-machine production facility. The scheduling policy uses the presumed optimal order quantities derived from solving an Economic Lot Size Problem and checks that the quantities obtain a feasible production schedule according to current inventory levels and expected demand rates. If not, the scheduling policy modifies the order quantities to achieve a possible solution without shortages. The scheduling policy is inspired by modification of the similar heuristic Dynamic Cycle Lengths Policy by Leachman and Gascon from 1988, 1991. The main characteristics of this scheduling policy are successive batches of the same item are treated explicitly, due to that it is quite possible that one item be manufactured several times before one other item is manufactured once more; the batches are ordered in increasing run-out time; if the existing situation creates stock-outs with ordinary order quantities, then the order quantities are decreased with a common scaling factor to try to prevent inventory shortages; in case the decrease of the order quantities changes expected run-out times, the batches are reordered after new run-out times; no filling up to an explicit inventory level is done, the filling up is done by the desirable order quantity; to prevent possible excess inventory the policy suggests time periods where no production should be performed. The scheduling policy contains no economical evaluation; this is supposed to be done when the order quantities are calculated, the policy prevents shortages and excess inventory. A numerical example illustrates the suggested scheduling policy. Finally, it is discussed as to how the policy can also take into account stochastic behaviour of the demand rates and compensate the schedule by applying appropriate safety times.  相似文献

This paper presents a 0–1 column generation model with a resource constrained shortest path auxiliary problem for nurse scheduling. The master problem finds a configuration of individual schedules to satisfy the demand coverage constraints while minimizing salary costs and maximizing both employee preferences and team balance. A feasible solution of the auxiliary problem is an acceptable schedule for a given nurse, with respect to collective agreement requirements such as seniority, workload, rotations and days off. We define a new resource structure in the auxiliary problem in order to take into account the complex collective agreement rules specific to the nurse scheduling problem. This model generalizes further the previous formulations discussed in the literature and can be viewed as a general scheme for complex personnel scheduling problems, especially in the context of organizations which operate around the clock. This paper presents a new multi-objective approach to a single machine scheduling problem in the presence of uncertainty. The uncertain parameters under consideration are due dates of jobs. They are modelled by fuzzy sets where membership degrees represent decision maker’s satisfaction grade with respect to the jobs’ completion times. The two objectives defined are to minimise the maximum and the average tardiness of the jobs. Due to fuzziness in the due dates, the two objectives become fuzzy too. In order to find a job schedule that maximises the aggregated satisfaction grade of the objectives, a hybrid algorithm that combines a multi-objective genetic algorithm with local search is developed. The algorithm is applied to solve a real-life problem of a manufacturing pottery company.  相似文献

This paper deals with multicriteria discrete-continuous problems of scheduling nonpreemptable jobs. The need for reusability and modularity leads us to build a “generic” optimisation and simulation framework, while the need to quickly generate good compromises between conflicting objectives requires the implementation of multicriteria scheduling models. This paper describes the practical possibilities of three hybrid models within this framework. The validation of the framework is presented in terms of its application to a real, highly constrained, discrete-continuous problem. The optimisation model is based on the hybridisation of a classical hill-climber meta-heuristic with the Promethee II multicriteria method.  相似文献

This paper concerns a real-life problem of loading and scheduling a batch-processing machine. The integrated loading and scheduling problem is stated as a multicriteria optimization problem where different types of objectives are included: (1) short-term objectives of relevance to the shop floor, such as throughput maximization and work-in-process inventory minimization, and (2) long-term objectives such as balancing of end product inventory levels and meeting financial targets imposed by the higher production planning level. Two types of uncertainty are considered: (1) uncertainty inherent in loading and scheduling objective targets (goals) such as the allocated budget and end product demand, and (2) uncertainty in importance relations among the objectives. These two types of uncertainty are modelled using fuzzy sets and fuzzy relations, respectively. A fuzzy goal programming model and the corresponding method are developed which handle both fuzzy and crisp goals and fuzzy importance relations among the goals. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed model.  相似文献

The fortress problem is one of determining a set of guards to cover the exterior of a simple polygon. O'Rourke and Wood [cited in 7] showed that vertex guards are sometimes necessary and always sufficient for an -vertex polygon. In this paper, we solve the same problem for edge guards. In this paper, we modify a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm, known as Nondominated sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) for a parallel machine scheduling problem with three objectives. The objectives are – (1) minimization of total cost due tardiness, (2) minimization of the deterioration cost and (3) minimization of makespan. The formulated problem has been solved by three Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithms which are: (1) the original NSGA-II (Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm–II), (2) SPEA2 (Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm-2) and (3) a modified version of NSGA-II as proposed in this paper. A new mutation algorithm has also been proposed depending on the type of problem and embedded in the modified NSGA-II. The results of the three algorithms have been compared and conclusions have been drawn. The modified NSGA-II is observed to perform better than the original NSGA-II. Besides, the proposed mutation algorithm also works effectively, as evident from the experimental results.  相似文献
