Linear regression models with vague concepts extend the classical single equation linear regression models by admitting observations in form of fuzzy subsets instead of real numbers. They have lately been introduced (cf. [V. Krätschmer, Induktive Statistik auf Basis unscharfer Meßkonzepte am Beispiel linearer Regressionsmodelle, unpublished postdoctoral thesis, Faculty of Law and Economics of the University of Saarland, Saarbrücken, 2001; V. Krätschmer, Least squares estimation in linear regression models with vague concepts, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, accepted for publication]) to improve the empirical meaningfulness of the relationships between the involved items by a more sensitive attention to the problems of data measurement, in particular, the fundamental problem of adequacy. The parameters of such models are still real numbers, and a method of estimation can be applied which extends directly the ordinary least squares method. In another recent contribution (cf. [V. Krätschmer, Strong consistency of least squares estimation in linear regression models with vague concepts, J. Multivar. Anal., accepted for publication]) strong consistency and -consistency of this generalized least squares estimation have been shown. The aim of the paper is to complete these results by an investigation of the limit distributions of the estimators. It turns out that the classical results can be transferred, in some cases even asymptotic normality holds.  相似文献

Missing covariate data are very common in regression analysis. In this paper, the weighted estimating equation method (Qi et al., 2005) [25] is used to extend the so-called unified estimation procedure (Chen et al., 2002) [4] for linear transformation models to the case of missing covariates. The non-missingness probability is estimated nonparametrically by the kernel smoothing technique. Under missing at random, the proposed estimators are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal, with the asymptotic variance estimated consistently by the usual plug-in method. Moreover, the proposed estimators are more efficient than the weighted estimators with the inverse of true non-missingness probability as weight. Finite sample performance of the estimators is examined via simulation and a real dataset is analyzed to illustrate the proposed methods.  相似文献

Rates of convergence for minimum contrast estimators   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Summary We shall present here a general study of minimum contrast estimators in a nonparametric setting (although our results are also valid in the classical parametric case) for independent observations. These estimators include many of the most popular estimators in various situations such as maximum likelihood estimators, least squares and other estimators of the regression function, estimators for mixture models or deconvolution... The main theorem relates the rate of convergence of those estimators to the entropy structure of the space of parameters. Optimal rates depending on entropy conditions are already known, at least for some of the models involved, and they agree with what we get for minimum contrast estimators as long as the entropy counts are not too large. But, under some circumstances (large entropies or changes in the entropy structure due to local perturbations), the resulting the rates are only suboptimal. Counterexamples are constructed which show that the phenomenon is real for non-parametric maximum likelihood or regression. This proves that, under purely metric assumptions, our theorem is optimal and that minimum contrast estimators happen to be suboptimal.  相似文献

We study a flexible class of nonproportional hazard function regression models in which the influence of the covariates splits into the sum of a parametric part and a time-dependent nonparametric part. We develop a method of covariate selection for the parametric part by adjusting for the implicit fitting of the nonparametric part. Asymptotic consistency of the proposed covariate selection method is established, leading to asymptotically normal estimators of both parametric and nonparametric parts of the model in the presence of covariate selection. The approach is applied to a real data set and a simulation study is presented.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce generalized S-estimators for the multivariate regression model. This class of estimators combines high robustness and high efficiency. They are defined by minimizing the determinant of a robust estimator of the scatter matrix of differences of residuals. In the special case of a multivariate location model, the generalized S-estimator has the important independence property, and can be used for high breakdown estimation in independent component analysis. Robustness properties of the estimators are investigated by deriving their breakdown point and the influence function. We also study the efficiency of the estimators, both asymptotically and at finite samples. To obtain inference for the regression parameters, we discuss the fast and robust bootstrap for multivariate generalized S-estimators. The method is illustrated on a real data example.  相似文献

Semi-parametric estimation of partially linear single-index models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
One of the most difficult problems in applications of semi-parametric partially linear single-index models (PLSIM) is the choice of pilot estimators and complexity parameters which may result in radically different estimators. Pilot estimators are often assumed to be root-n consistent, although they are not given in a constructible way. Complexity parameters, such as a smoothing bandwidth are constrained to a certain speed, which is rarely determinable in practical situations. In this paper, efficient, constructible and practicable estimators of PLSIMs are designed with applications to time series. The proposed technique answers two questions from Carroll et al. [Generalized partially linear single-index models, J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 92 (1997) 477-489]: no root-n pilot estimator for the single-index part of the model is needed and complexity parameters can be selected at the optimal smoothing rate. The asymptotic distribution is derived and the corresponding algorithm is easily implemented. Examples from real data sets (credit-scoring and environmental statistics) illustrate the technique and the proposed methodology of minimum average variance estimation (MAVE).  相似文献

Consider a varying-coefficient single-index model which consists of two parts: the linear part with varying coefficients and the nonlinear part with a single-index structure, and are hence termed as varying-coefficient single-index models. This model includes many important regression models such as single-index models, partially linear single-index models, varying-coefficient model and varying-coefficient partially linear models as special examples. In this paper, we mainly study estimating problems of the varying-coefficient vector, the nonparametric link function and the unknown parametric vector describing the single-index in the model. A stepwise approach is developed to obtain asymptotic normality estimators of the varying-coefficient vector and the parametric vector, and estimators of the nonparametric link function with a convergence rate. The consistent estimator of the structural error variance is also obtained. In addition, asymptotic pointwise confidence intervals and confidence regions are constructed for the varying coefficients and the parametric vector. The bandwidth selection problem is also considered. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the proposed methods, and real data analysis is also used to illustrate our methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider robust generalized estimating equations for the analysis of semiparametric generalized partial linear mixed models (GPLMMs) for longitudinal data. We approximate the non-parametric function in the GPLMM by a regression spline, and make use of bounded scores and leverage-based weights in the estimating equation to achieve robustness against outliers and influential data points, respectively. Under some regularity conditions, the asymptotic properties of the robust estimators are investigated. To avoid the computational problems involving high-dimensional integrals in our estimators, we adopt a robust Monte Carlo Newton-Raphson (RMCNR) algorithm for fitting GPLMMs. Small simulations are carried out to study the behavior of the robust estimates in the presence of outliers, and these estimates are also compared to their corresponding non-robust estimates. The proposed robust method is illustrated in the analysis of two real data sets.  相似文献

Thresholding projection estimators in functional linear models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider the problem of estimating the regression function in functional linear regression models by proposing a new type of projection estimators which combine dimension reduction and thresholding. The introduction of a threshold rule allows us to get consistency under broad assumptions as well as minimax rates of convergence under additional regularity hypotheses. We also consider the particular case of Sobolev spaces generated by the trigonometric basis which permits us to get easily mean squared error of prediction as well as estimators of the derivatives of the regression function. We prove that these estimators are minimax and rates of convergence are given for some particular cases.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the regression function or its νth derivative in generalized linear models which may have a change/discontinuity point at an unknown location. The location and its jump size are estimated with the local polynomial fits based on one-sided kernel weighted local-likelihood functions. Asymptotic distributions of the proposed estimators of location and jump size are established. The finite-sample performances of the proposed estimators with practical aspects are illustrated by simulated and beetle mortality examples.  相似文献

This paper studies the existence of the uniformly minimum risk unbiased (UMRU) estimators of parameters in a class of linear models with an error vector having multivariate normal distribution or t-distribution, which include the growth curve model, the extended growth curve model, the seemingly unrelated regression equations model, the variance components model, and so on. The necessary and sufficient existence conditions are established for UMRU estimators of the estimable linear functions of regression coefficients under convex losses and matrix losses, respectively. Under the (extended) growth curve model and the seemingly unrelated regression equations model with normality assumption, the conclusions given in the literature can be derived by applying the general results in this paper. For the variance components model, the necessary and sufficient existence conditions are reduced as terse forms.  相似文献

Structural test in regression on functional variables   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Many papers deal with structural testing procedures in multivariate regression. More recently, various estimators have been proposed for regression models involving functional explanatory variables. Thanks to these new estimators, we propose a theoretical framework for structural testing procedures adapted to functional regression. The procedures introduced in this paper are innovative and make the link between former works on functional regression and others on structural testing procedures in multivariate regression. We prove asymptotic properties of the level and the power of our procedures under general assumptions that cover a large scope of possible applications: tests for no effect, linearity, dimension reduction, …  相似文献

In this paper, the functional-coefficient partially linear regression (FCPLR) model is proposed by combining nonparametric and functional-coefficient regression (FCR) model. It includes the FCR model and the nonparametric regression (NPR) model as its special cases. It is also a generalization of the partially linear regression (PLR) model obtained by replacing the parameters in the PLR model with some functions of the covariates. The local linear technique and the integrated method are employed to give initial estimators of all functions in the FCPLR model. These initial estimators are asymptotically normal. The initial estimator of the constant part function shares the same bias as the local linear estimator of this function in the univariate nonparametric model, but the variance of the former is bigger than that of the latter. Similarly, initial estimators of every coefficient function share the same bias as the local linear estimates in the univariate FCR model, but the variance of the former is bigger than that of the latter. To decrease the variance of the initial estimates, a one-step back-fitting technique is used to obtain the improved estimators of all functions. The improved estimator of the constant part function has the same asymptotic normality property as the local linear nonparametric regression for univariate data. The improved estimators of the coefficient functions have the same asymptotic normality properties as the local linear estimates in FCR model. The bandwidths and the smoothing variables are selected by a data-driven method. Both simulated and real data examples related to nonlinear time series modeling are used to illustrate the applications of the FCPLR model.  相似文献

If the errors in the linear regression model are assumed to be independent with nonvanishing third and finite fourth moments, then it is possible to improve all linear estimators by so-called linear plus quadratic (LPQ) estimators. These consist of linear and quadratic terms in the endogeneous variable and depend on the unknown moments of the errors which, in general, have to be estimated from the data. In this paper, we will use LPQ estimators for quasiminimax estimation and some related problems.Support by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft Grant No. Tr 253/1-2 is gratefully acknowledged.  相似文献

Admissibility of linear estimators of a regression coefficient in linear models with and without the assumption that the underlying distribution is normal is discussed under a balanced loss function. In the non-normal case, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for linear estimators to be admissible in the space of homogeneous linear estimators. In the normal case, a sufficient condition is provided for restricted linear estimators to be admissible in the space of all estimators having finite risks under the balanced loss function. Furthermore, the sufficient condition is proved to be necessary in the normal case if additional conditions are assumed.  相似文献

In this article, we propose and explore a multivariate logistic regression model for analyzing multiple binary outcomes with incomplete covariate data where auxiliary information is available. The auxiliary data are extraneous to the regression model of interest but predictive of the covariate with missing data. Horton and Laird [N.J. Horton, N.M. Laird, Maximum likelihood analysis of logistic regression models with incomplete covariate data and auxiliary information, Biometrics 57 (2001) 34–42] describe how the auxiliary information can be incorporated into a regression model for a single binary outcome with missing covariates, and hence the efficiency of the regression estimators can be improved. We consider extending the method of [9] to the case of a multivariate logistic regression model for multiple correlated outcomes, and with missing covariates and completely observed auxiliary information. We demonstrate that in the case of moderate to strong associations among the multiple outcomes, one can achieve considerable gains in efficiency from estimators in a multivariate model as compared to the marginal estimators of the same parameters.  相似文献

The censored single-index model provides a flexible way for modelling the association between a response and a set of predictor variables when the response variable is randomly censored and the link function is unknown. It presents a technique for “dimension reduction” in semiparametric censored regression models and generalizes the existing accelerated failure time models for survival analysis. This paper proposes two methods for estimation of single-index models with randomly censored samples. We first transform the censored data into synthetic data or pseudo-responses unbiasedly, then obtain estimates of the index coefficients by the rOPG or rMAVE procedures of Xia (2006) [1]. Finally, we estimate the unknown nonparametric link function using techniques for univariate censored nonparametric regression. The estimators for the index coefficients are shown to be root-n consistent and asymptotically normal. In addition, the estimator for the unknown regression function is a local linear kernel regression estimator and can be estimated with the same efficiency as the parameters are known. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to illustrate the proposed methodologies.  相似文献

This paper treats the problem of estimating positive parameters restricted to a polyhedral convex cone which includes typical order restrictions, such as simple order, tree order and umbrella order restrictions. In this paper, two methods are used to show the improvement of order-preserving estimators over crude non-order-preserving estimators without any assumption on underlying distributions. One is to use Fenchel’s duality theorem, and then the superiority of the isotonic regression estimator is established under the general restriction to polyhedral convex cones. The use of the Abel identity is the other method, and we can derive a class of improved estimators which includes order-statistics-based estimators in the typical order restrictions. When the underlying distributions are scale families, the unbiased estimators and their order-restricted estimators are shown to be minimax. The minimaxity of the restrictedly generalized Bayes estimator against the prior over the restricted space is also demonstrated in the two dimensional case. Finally, some examples and multivariate extensions are given.  相似文献

This paper proposes a technique [termed censored average derivative estimation (CADE)] for studying estimation of the unknown regression function in nonparametric censored regression models with randomly censored samples. The CADE procedure involves three stages: firstly-transform the censored data into synthetic data or pseudo-responses using the inverse probability censoring weighted (IPCW) technique, secondly estimate the average derivatives of the regression function, and finally approximate the unknown regression function by an estimator of univariate regression using techniques for one-dimensional nonparametric censored regression. The CADE provides an easily implemented methodology for modelling the association between the response and a set of predictor variables when data are randomly censored. It also provides a technique for “dimension reduction” in nonparametric censored regression models. The average derivative estimator is shown to be root-n consistent and asymptotically normal. The estimator of the unknown regression function is a local linear kernel regression estimator and is shown to converge at the optimal one-dimensional nonparametric rate. Monte Carlo experiments show that the proposed estimators work quite well.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of estimating a covariance matrix parametrized by an irreducible symmetric cone in a decision-theoretic set-up is considered. By making use of some results developed in a theory of finite-dimensional Euclidean simple Jordan algebras, Bartlett's decomposition and an unbiased risk estimate formula for a general family of Wishart distributions on the irreducible symmetric cone are derived; these results lead to an extension of Stein's general technique for derivation of minimax estimators for a real normal covariance matrix. Specification of the results to the multivariate normal models with covariances which are parametrized by complex, quaternion, and Lorentz types gives minimax estimators for each model.  相似文献
