Letu() be an absolutely integrable function and define the random process where thet i are Poisson arrivals and thes i, are identically distributed nonnegative random variables. Under routine independence assumptions, one may then calculate a formula for the spectrum ofn(t), S n(), in terms of the probability density ofs, ps(). If any probability density ps() having the property ps() I for small is substituted into this formula, the calculated Sn() is such that Sn() 1 for small . However, this is not a spectrum of a well-defined random process; here, it is termed alimit spectrum. If a probability density having the property ps() for small , where > 0, is substituted into the formula instead, a spectrum is calculated which is indeed the spectrum of a well-defined random process. Also, if the latter ps is suitably close to the former ps, then the spectrum in the second case approximates, to an arbitrary, degree of accuracy, the limit spectrum. It is shown how one may thereby have 1/f noise with low-frequency turnover, and also strict 1/f 1– noise (the latter spectrum being integrable for > 0). Suitable examples are given. Actually, u() may be itself a random process, and the theory is developed on this basis.  相似文献

We derive, from conformal invariance and quantum gravity, the multifractal spectrum f() of the harmonic measure (i.e., electrostatic potential, or diffusion field) near any conformally invariant fractal in two dimensions. It gives the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points where the potential varies with distance r to the fractal frontier as r . First examples are a random walk, i.e., a Brownian motion, a self-avoiding walk, or a critical percolation cluster. The generalized dimensions D(n) as well as the multifractal functions f() are derived, and are all identical for these three cases. The external frontiers of a Brownian motion and of a percolation cluster are thus identical to a self-avoiding walk in the scaling limit. The multifractal (MF) function f(,c) of the electrostatic potential near any conformally invariant fractal boundary, like a critical O(N) loop or a Q-state Potts cluster, is given as a function of the central charge c of the associated conformal field theory. The dimensions D EP of the external perimeter and D H of the hull of a critical scaling curve or cluster obey the superuniversal duality equation . Finally, for a conformally invariant scaling curve which is simple, i.e., without double points, we derive higher multifractal functions, like the universal function f 2(,) which gives the Hausdorff dimension of the points where the potential varies jointly with distance r as r on one side of the curve, and as r on the other. The general case of the potential distribution between the branches of a star made of an arbitrary number of scaling paths is also treated. The results apply to critical O(N) loops, Potts clusters, and to the SLE process. We present a duality between external perimeters of Potts clusters and O(N) loops at their critical point, as well as the corresponding duality in the SLE process for =16.  相似文献

We present upper bounds on the critical temperature of one-dimensional Ising models with long-range,l/n interactions, where 1<2. In particular for the often studied case of =2 we have an upper bound onT c which is less than theT c found by a number of approximation techniques. Also for the case where is small, such as =1.1, we obtain rigorous bounds which are extremely close, within 1.0%, to those found by approximation methods.  相似文献

We revisit the q-deformed counterpart of the Zassenhaus formula, expressing the Jackson q-exponential of the sum of two non-q-commuting operators as an (in general) infinite product of q-exponential operators involving repeated q-commutators of increasing order, Eq(A+B) = Eq0(A)Eq1 (B) i=2 Eqi. By systematically transforming the q-exponentials into exponentials of series and using the conventional Baker–Campbell–Hausdorff formula, we prove that one can make any choice for the bases qi, i=0, 1, 2, ..., of the q-exponentials in the infinite product. An explicit calculation of the operators C i in the successive factors, carried out up to sixth order, also shows that the simplest q-Zassenhaus formula is obtained for 0 = 1 =1, and 2 = 2, and 3 = 3. This confirms and reinforces a result of Sridhar and Jagannathan, on the basis of fourth-order calculations.  相似文献

The time evolution of a damped quantum particle is discussed. Dissipation is modeled by the bilinear coupling to a set of harmonic oscillators. Using a functional integral technique that accounts for initial correlations between the particle and the reservoir, one can express the dynamics of the damped particle entirely in terms of equilibrium correlation functions. The long-time behavior of these correlations is determined for memory damping arising from the coupling to a reservoir with spectral densityI() at low frequencies, where > 0. The time evolution of nonequilibrium initial states of the damped particle is discussed. At finite temperatures an initially localized state is found to spread subdiffusively or superdiffusively, depending on . For > 2 the damping becomes ineffective for long times, and the width of a state grows kinematically. At zero temperature and for < 1, an initially localized state remains localized for all times. For 1 the state spreads, but with a slower rate than at finite temperatures. Study of arbitrary initial states indicates that the process is ergodic at finite temperatures only for 2 and at zero temperature for 1 2.  相似文献

The goal of this paper is to show somewhat unexpected globally pathologic properties in universes described by a class of static planary symmetric exact solutions with G 6-group of motion. In order to achieve this aim, the Killing vectors, the null geodesics and the Penrose diagrams corresponding to different expressions of g 44=–e 2f(z), with f(z) solutions of Einstein's equations, have been employed. Finally, woking in a particular gauge, we focus on the behaviour of the radiating electromagnetic modes and derive the observable components of E and B and the expressions of the essential component of the Umov-Poynting vector.  相似文献

NQR andSR investigations of the local magnetic field in-Bi2O3 were performed. In theNQR experiments on-Bi2O3 which is usually considered as diamagnetic, the splitting of the spectral lines revealed a local field on the bismuth nuclei. The internal magnetic field obtained bySR significantly exceeds the dipole field from Bi nuclear magnetic moments. A possible source of the local magnetic fields is partial covalent bonds in-Bi2O3.  相似文献

Under the condition of nearly equilibrium concentration of vacancies, time dependence of the amount of isothermal transformation given byy=R/R f was investigated whereR f is the total structural change of resistivity on completion of the whole process andR is the measured resistivity change. The investigation was done on the 21·8 at.% (40·3wt.%) Zn alloy under the condition of relatively low supersaturation of a few degrees centigrade below the metastable R solvus line. The total transformation involves four kinetic stages: the first two stages correspond probably to diffusion-controlled growth of the R particles from the supersaturated solid solution and to the ripening of these particles till their conversion to the cubic phase takes place. The last two kinetic stages account analogously for the particles growth and ripening. Both R and phases were identified by the transmission electron microscopy. When separating the individual stages, the approximation byy=1–exp [–(mt) n] of the amount of transformationy was used. The approximation allowed to get the starting values of both the time and the change of the structural part of the electrical resistance for individual stages and also to derive the parametersm i, ni which had to be redetermined for the individual separated stages. These data made it possible to synthetize the experimental curves ofR andy vs. time for the total transformation. It is a pleasure to thank Doc. Dr. V.Syneek CSc. for stimulating the author's interest in this problem and for providing helpful discussions. I also would like to express my thanks to Ing. P.Bartuka CSc. for the transmission electron microscopic study carried out to identify the particular phases. The author is indebted to Ing.V. íma for the preparation of the investigated alloy and to Mrs. A.Mendlová and Mr. P.Vyhlídka for technical assistance.  相似文献

If and are one-parameter automorphism groups of a von Neumann algebraM is said to be a bounded perturbation of if t t 0 ast0. We give a complete characterization of the bounded perturbations of . In particular, we show that if can be implemented by a strongly continuous one-parameter group with self-adjoint generator (Hamiltonian)H, then can be implemented in the same way and the corresponding HamiltonianH can be chosen to be of the formH=VHV –1+h, whereV is a unitary ofM andh=h*M.On leave of absence from II. Using the Godement mean of positive-type functions over a groupG, we study -abelian systems { , } of aC*-algebra and a homomorphic mapping of a groupG into the homomorphism group of . Consideration of the Godement mean off(g)U g withf a positive-type function overG andU a unitary representation ofG first yields a generalized mean-ergodic theorem. We then define the Godement mean off(g) ( g (A)) withA and a covariant representation of the system { , } for which theG-invariant Hilbert space vectors are cyclic and study its properties, notably in relation with ergodic and weakly mixing states over . Finally we investigate the discrete spectrum of covariant representations of { , } (i.e. the direct sum of the finite-dimensional subrepresentations of the associated representations ofG).On leave of absence from Istituto di Fisica G. In this paper we define a new q-special function A n (x, b, c; q). The new function is a generalization of the q-Laguerre function and the Stieltjes–Wigert function. We deduced all the properties of the function A n (x, b, c; q). Finally, lim q1 A n ((1 – q)x, –, 1;q) gives L n (,)(x,q), which is a -modification of the ordinary Laguerre function.  相似文献

Given a Riemannian structure (M, g), a hypothesis is investigated that if= p=0 n p (M) is submitted to the differential condition (g++)=0, =mc/—which implies that each component of fulfills the Klein-Gordon equation (- 2) p =0, ought to be interpreted as a natural complex of the bosonic fields. Then it is found that the complex admits the interpretation in the sense of first quantization with (M) being a convex set of states, with the structure of a Hilbert space over . The definite spin states of bosons are then pure states which are not conserved by the temporal evolution.  相似文献

This paper contains a classification of the Ricci tensorR . The method of derivation is analogous to the spinor version of the Petrov classification of the Weyl tensor. It is shown how the various classes are related to the number and type of eigenvectors and eigenvalues ofR . The classification is useful in the geometrization of various fields. The case of a real scalar field is treated in detail.Supported in part by the National Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

The design, fabrication and characterization of electrooptical modulators and switches based on pseudomorphic InGaAs/GaAs multiple-quantum-well (MQW) structures is presented. The absorption and refractive index changes (, n) of In0.2Ga0.8As/GaAs MQW structures due to the quantum-confined Stark effect are examined in detail. The figures of merit /0 and n/0 give information on the design of modulation and switching devices. Based on these results, we develop two types of efficient and high-speed modulators, vertical and waveguide modulators, and for the first time an InGaAs/GaAs intersectional X-type switch. Recent experimental results for each device are presented.  相似文献

This paper shows that a new class of axially symmetric static electrovacuum/magnetovacuum solutions is obtainable from Weyl's class of static vacuum solutions. The new class contains an infinite set of asymptotically flat solutions (in closed form) each of which involves an arbitrary set (d, i) of parameters. These parameters have to be interpreted as functions of massm, chargee, and higher electric/magnetic multipole moments i of the particle. The cased = 0, i =0 leads to the Darmois solution and the cased = 0, i 0 leads to the results of [1]. The case d=0, e=i=0 leads to the Schwarzschild solution, the cased 0, i =0,e 0 leads to the Reissner-Nordström solution. To get more general examples is a lengthy but straightforward exercise.  相似文献

Letp(A,,E) be the probability that a measurement of an observableA for the system in a state will lead to a value in a Borel setE. An experimental function is a function f from the set of all statesI into [0,1] for which there are an observableA and a Borel setE such thatf()=p(A, , E) for all I. A sequencef 1,f 2,... of experimental functions is said to be orthogonal if there is an experimental functiong such thatg+f 1+f 2+...=1, and it is said to be pairwise orthogonal iff i+f j 1 forij. It is shown that if we assume both notions to be equivalent then the setL of all experimental functions is an orthocomplemented partially ordered set with respect to the natural order of real functions with the complementationf=1–f, each observableA can be identified with anL-valued measure A, each state can be identified with a probability measurem onL and we havep(A,,E)=m oA(E). Thus we obtain the abstract setting of axiomatic quantum mechanics as a consequence of a single postulate.  相似文献

Davis-Mott and Tauc models of optical absorption at the absorption edge in the high absorption coefficient region (104cm–1) are carefully reviewed with regard to their theoretical foundations, assumptions, mathematical derivations, and results. The full implications of these models are exploited, and it is found that the Davis-Mott model for negligible matrix elements between localised states could account for the cubic power law behaviour of with photon energy of some amorphous semiconductors such as a-Si. A fractional power law to find the optical band gapE opt, of the form [ (E opt)r; 2r3] based on Davis-Mott model is proposed in which the indexr can be a function of disorder. The Tauc model has further been extended to the case of negligible matrix elements between localised states, in which the same square power law for vs. with the same meaning of the optical gap as in the original Tauc model has resulted. A consideration of the case of unequal matrix elements for those transitions between localised states and those between extended states is also included. The meaning ofE opt has been re-assessed and it is emphasized that it is an extrapolation of delocalised states to the zero of the density of states rather than a threshold energy for the onset of some kind of optical transitions. This paper is cordially dedicated to Professor C. A. Hogarth who taught us the Physics of amorphous materials.  相似文献

For a harmonically trapped dilute Bose gas with uniformly repulsive interactions which is assumed to satisfy a certain condition on the extensivity of fluctuations, I find on upper bound on the condensate fraction f. If BEC is defined by the condition that f>const.N , <1/2, I argue that in the limit N, V o 0, NV o const. where V o is the space integral of the potential, the interactions cannot increase the critical temperature over that of the noninteracting gas.  相似文献

We suggest a new method for investigating scaling properties of mesoscopic observables and their distributions in disordered systems showing metal-insulator transition. In such systems quantum interference effects lead to multifractal structure of eigenstates on scales much smaller than the correlation length of the transition which can be described by a set of exponents, thef() spectrum. The analysis off() spectra can be extended to any scaling variable. Multifractality is an indication for broad distributions of these variables. If the transition is governed by one correlation length only then thef() spectra of normalized scaling variables must be universal. The critical exponentv of the correlation length is determined by the value (0) wheref() takes its maximum and the scaling exponent of normalizationxv –1=(0)+x. As an illustrative example we calculate numerically thef() spectra of eigenstates in the critical regime of 2d disordered electron systems in high magnetic fields. We find similarf() spectra indicating universal log-normal distributions of scaling variables.Work performed within the research program of the Sonderforschungsbereich 341, Köln-Aachen-Jülich  相似文献
