In this paper, we study the matrices related to the partial exponential Bell polynomials and those related to the Bell polynomials with respect to Ω. As a result, the factorizations of these matrices are obtained, which give unified approaches to the factorizations of many lower triangular matrices. Moreover, some combinatorial identities are also derived from the corresponding matrix representations.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a generalization of an identity due to Carlitz on Bernoulli polynomials. Then we use this generalized formula to derive two symmetric identities which reduce to some known identities on Bernoulli polynomials and Bernoulli numbers, including the Miki identity.  相似文献

Abstract

Andrews, Knopfmacher and Knopfmacher have used the Schur polynomials to consider the celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities in the context of q-Engel expansions. We extend this view using similar polynomials, provided by Sills, in the context of Slater's list of 130 Rogers-Ramanujan type identities.  相似文献

Using the finite difference calculus and differentiation, we obtain several new identities for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials; some extend Miki's and Matiyasevich's identities, while others generalize a symmetric relation observed by Woodcock and some results due to Sun.  相似文献

In this paper we develop some identities involving symmetric products in an abstract algebra which was formerly introduced by Rimark Ree to investigate the shuffle product and relations with skew symmetric (Lie) products. His motivation was partially the characterization of homogeneous Lie polynomials in noncommuting variables, while our motivation is derived from problems in systems theory. The main link in these applications is the need for identities involving multiple integrals of functions of many variables. The relation between these identities and some of the abstract identities developed here is also worked out and some of the applications to systems theory reviewed.  相似文献

Quadratic alternative superalgebras are introduced and their super-identities and central functions on one odd generator are described. As a corollary, all multilinear skew-symmetric identities and central polynomials of octonions are classified.  相似文献

We introduce a family of quasisymmetric functions called Eulerian quasisymmetric functions, which specialize to enumerators for the joint distribution of the permutation statistics, major index and excedance number on permutations of fixed cycle type. This family is analogous to a family of quasisymmetric functions that Gessel and Reutenauer used to study the joint distribution of major index and descent number on permutations of fixed cycle type. Our central result is a formula for the generating function for the Eulerian quasisymmetric functions, which specializes to a new and surprising q-analog of a classical formula of Euler for the exponential generating function of the Eulerian polynomials. This q-analog computes the joint distribution of excedance number and major index, the only of the four important Euler-Mahonian distributions that had not yet been computed. Our study of the Eulerian quasisymmetric functions also yields results that include the descent statistic and refine results of Gessel and Reutenauer. We also obtain q-analogs, (q,p)-analogs and quasisymmetric function analogs of classical results on the symmetry and unimodality of the Eulerian polynomials. Our Eulerian quasisymmetric functions refine symmetric functions that have occurred in various representation theoretic and enumerative contexts including MacMahon's study of multiset derangements, work of Procesi and Stanley on toric varieties of Coxeter complexes, Stanley's work on chromatic symmetric functions, and the work of the authors on the homology of a certain poset introduced by Björner and Welker.  相似文献

The basic theorems of the Mullin-Rota theory of polynomials of binomial type are rederived here by a combination of the classical theory of generating functions and Rota's operator theoretical methods. As a result a certain number of new identities are obtained.  相似文献

In the paper, the authors introduce a notion “multivariate exponential polynomials” which generalize exponential numbers and polynomials, establish explicit formulas, inversion formulas, and recurrence relations for multivariate exponential polynomials in terms of the Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds with the help of the Faà di Bruno formula, two identities for the Bell polynomials of the second kind, and the inversion theorem for the Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, construct some determinantal inequalities and product inequalities for multivariate exponential polynomials with the aid of some properties of completely monotonic functions and other known results, derive the logarithmic convexity and logarithmic concavity for multivariate exponential polynomials, and finally find an application of multivariate exponential polynomials to white noise distribution theory by confirming that multivariate exponential polynomials satisfy conditions for sequences required in white noise distribution theory.  相似文献

Identities on Bell polynomials and Sheffer sequences   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we study exponential partial Bell polynomials and Sheffer sequences. Two new characterizations of Sheffer sequences are presented, which indicate the relations between Sheffer sequences and Riordan arrays. Several general identities involving Bell polynomials and Sheffer sequences are established, which reduce to some elegant identities for associated sequences and cross sequences.  相似文献

We obtain general identities for the product of two Schur functions in the case where one of the functions is indexed by a rectangular partition, and give their t-analogs using vertex operators. We study subspaces forming a filtration for the symmetric function space that lends itself to generalizing the theory of Schur functions and also provides a convenient environment for studying the Macdonald polynomials. We use our identities to prove that the vertex operators leave such subspaces invariant. We finish by showing that these operators act trivially on the k-Schur functions, thus leading to a concept of irreducibility for these functions.  相似文献

We derive some formulas for the Carlitz q-Fibonacci polynomials Fn(t) which reduce to the finite version of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities obtained by I. Schur for t = 1. Our starting point is a representation of the q-Fibonacci polynomials as the weight of certain lattice paths in contained in a strip along the x-axis. We give an elementary combinatorial proof by using only the principle of inclusion-exclusion and some standard facts from q-analysis.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a family of nonstationary, interpolatory subdivision schemes that have the capability of reproducing functions in a finite-dimensional subspace of exponential polynomials. We give conditions for the existence and uniqueness of such schemes, and analyze their convergence and smoothness. It is shown that the refinement rules of an even-order exponentials reproducing scheme converge to the Dubuc—Deslauriers interpolatory scheme of the same order, and that both schemes have the same smoothness. Unlike the stationary case, the application of a nonstationary scheme requires the computation of a different rule for each refinement level. We show that the rules of an exponentials reproducing scheme can be efficiently derived by means of an auxiliary orthogonal scheme , using only linear operations. The orthogonal schemes are also very useful tools in fitting an appropriate space of exponential polynomials to a given data sequence.  相似文献

We examine a pair of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities of Lebesgue, and give polynomial identities for which the original identities are limiting cases. The polynomial identities turn out to be q-analogs of the Pell sequence. Finally, we provide combinatorial interpretations for the identities.  相似文献

We derive twenty five basic identities of symmetry in three variables related to higher-order Euler polynomials and alternating power sums. This demonstrates that there are abundant identities of symmetry in three-variable case, in contrast to two-variable case, where there are only a few. These are all new, since there have been results only about identities of symmetry in two variables. The derivations of identities are based on the p-adic integral expression of the generating function for the higher-order Euler polynomials and the quotient of integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the alternating power sums.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide generalizations of two identities of Guo and Yang [2] for the q-binomial coe?cients. This approach allows us to derive new convolution identities for the complete and elementary symmetric functions. New identities involving q-binomial coe?cients are obtained as very special cases of these results. A new relationship between restricted partitions and restricted partitions into parts of two kinds is derived in this context.  相似文献

Summary Using the argument principle higher order methods for simultaneous computation of all zeros of generalized polynomials (like algebraic, trigonometric and exponential polynomials or exponential sums) are derived. The methods can also be derived following the continuation principle from [3]. Thereby, the unified approach of [7] is enlarged to arbitrary orderN. The local convergence as well as a-priori and a-posteriori error estimates for these methods are treated on a general level. Numerical examples are included.  相似文献

In analogy to valuation characterizations and kinematic formulas of convex geometry, we develop a combinatorial theory of invariant valuations and kinematic formulas for finite lattices. Combinatorial kinematic formulas are shown to have application to some probabilistic questions, leading in turn to polynomial identities for Möbius functions and Whitney numbers.  相似文献

Summary Applying Newton's method to a particular system of nonlinear equations we derive methods for the simultaneous computation of all zeros of generalized polynomials. These generalized polynomials are from a function space satisfying a condition similar to Haar's condition. By this approach we bring together recent methods for trigonometric and exponential polynomials and a well-known method for ordinary polynomials. The quadratic convergence of these methods is an immediate consequence of our approach and needs not to be proved explicitly. Moreover, our approach yields new interesting methods for ordinary, trigonometric and exponential polynomials and methods for other functions occuring in approximation theory.  相似文献
