D. E. Loeb and G.-C. Rota, using the operator of differentiation D, constructed the logarithmic algebra that is the generalization of the algebra of formal Laurent series. They also introduced Appell graded logarithmic sequences and binomial (basic) graded logarithmic sequences as sequences of elements of the logarithmic algebra and extended the main results of the classical umbral calculus on such sequences. We construct an algebra by an operator d that is defined by the formula (1.1). This algebra is an analog of the logarithmic algebra. Then we define sequences analogous to Boas-Buck polynomial sequences and extend the main results of the nonclassical umbral calculus on such sequences. The basic logarithmic algebra constructed by the operator of q-differentiation is considered. The analog of the q-Stirling formula is obtained.  相似文献

We give recurrence relations for any family of generalized Appell polynomials unifying so some known recurrences for many classical sequences of polynomials. Our main tool to get our goal is the Riordan group. We use the product of Riordan matrices to interpret some relationships between different polynomial families. Moreover using the Hadamard product of series we get a general recurrence relation for the polynomial sequences associated to the so called generalized umbral calculus.  相似文献

Let be a sequence of natural numbers > 1, and set . The sequence is called admissible if a i divides for all i. It is known that the admissible sequences are counted by the Catalan numbers. We present a proof of this fact which, in turn, leads to some interesting combinatorial and number-theoretic questions. Received 12 May 1997; in revised form 9 June 1997  相似文献

We determine the number of alternating parity sequences that are subsequences of an increasing m-tuple of integers. For this and other related counting problems we find formulas that are combinations of Fibonacci numbers. These results are applied to determine, among other things, the number of vertices of any face of the polytope of tridiagonal doubly stochastic matrices.  相似文献

Using the finite difference calculus and differentiation, we obtain several new identities for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials; some extend Miki's and Matiyasevich's identities, while others generalize a symmetric relation observed by Woodcock and some results due to Sun.  相似文献

We present some variations on the Greene–Krammer?s identity which involve q-Catalan numbers. Our method reveals an intriguing analogy between these new identities and some congruences modulo a prime.  相似文献

In this paper, we define the generalized Bernoulli polynomial matrix B(α)(x) and the Bernoulli matrix B. Using some properties of Bernoulli polynomials and numbers, a product formula of B(α)(x) and the inverse of B were given. It is shown that not only B(x)=P[x]B, where P[x] is the generalized Pascal matrix, but also B(x)=FM(x)=N(x)F, where F is the Fibonacci matrix, M(x) and N(x) are the (n+1)×(n+1) lower triangular matrices whose (i,j)-entries are and , respectively. From these formulas, several interesting identities involving the Fibonacci numbers and the Bernoulli polynomials and numbers are obtained. The relationships are established about Bernoulli, Fibonacci and Vandermonde matrices.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the usual and generalized order-k Fibonacci and Pell recurrences, then we define a new recurrence, which we call generalized order-k F–P sequence. Also we present a systematic investigation of the generalized order-k F–P sequence. We give the generalized Binet formula, some identities and an explicit formula for sums of the generalized order-k F–P sequence by matrix methods. Further, we give the generating function and combinatorial representations of these numbers. Also we present an algorithm for computing the sums of the generalized order-k Pell numbers, as well as the Pell numbers themselves.  相似文献

The q-Catalan numbers studied by Carlitz and Riordan are polynomials in q with nonnegative coefficients. They evaluate, at q = 1, to the Catalan numbers: 1, 1, 2, 5, 14,…, a log-convex sequence. We use a combinatorial interpretation of these polynomials to prove a q-log-convexity result. The sequence of q-Catalan numbers is not q-log-convex in the narrow sense used by other authors, so our work suggests a more flexible definition of q-log convex be adopted. Euler's structure theorem for any odd perfect number is extended to odd multiperfect numbers of abundancy power of 2. In addition, conditions are found for classes of odd numbers not to be 4-perfect: some types of cube, some numbers divisible by 9 as the maximum power of 3, and numbers where 2 is the maximum even prime power.  相似文献

Some new identities for the Fibonomial coefficients are derived. These identities are related to the generating function of the kth powers of the Fibonacci numbers. Proofs are based on manipulation with the generating function of the sequence of “signed Fibonomial triangle”.  相似文献

Summary We analyze the convergence behavior of sequences of real numbers {x n }, which are defined through an iterative process of the formx n :=T(x n –1), whereT is a suitable real function. It will be proved that under certain mild assumptions onT, these numbersx n possess an asymptotic (error) expansion, where the type of this expansion depends on the derivative ofT in the limit point ; this generalizes a result of G. Meinardus [6].It is well-known that the convergence of sequences, which possess an asymptotic expansion, can be accelerated significantly by application of a suitable extrapolation process. We introduce two types of such processes and study their main properties in some detail. In addition, we analyze practical aspects of the extrapolation and present the results of some numerical tests. As we shall see, even the convergence of Newton's method can be accelerated using the very simple linear extrapolation process.Dedicated to Professor Dr. Günter Meinardus on the occasion of his 65th birthday  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the Stirling numbers of both kinds can be written as sums over integer partitions. As corollaries, we rewrite some identities with Stirling numbers of both kinds without Stirling numbers.  相似文献

We consider the effect of constraints on the number of non-negative integer solutions of x+y+z = n, relating the number of solutions to linear combinations of triangular numbers. Our approach is geometric and may be viewed as an introduction to proofs without words. We use this geometrical perspective to prove identities by counting the number of solutions in two different ways, thereby combining combinatorial proofs and proofs without words.  相似文献

Ozeki and Prodinger showed that the odd power sum of the first several consecutive Fibonacci numbers of even order is equal to a polynomial evaluated at a certain Fibonacci number of odd order. We prove that this polynomial and its derivative both vanish at 1, and will be an integer polynomial after multiplying it by a product of the first consecutive Lucas numbers of odd order. This presents an a?rmative answer to a conjecture of Melham.  相似文献

If and are two sequences such that a1=b1 and , then we say that (an,bn) is a Newton-Euler pair. In the paper, we establish many formulas for Newton-Euler pairs, and then make use of them to obtain new results concerning some special sequences such as and Bn, where p(n) is the number of partitions of n, σ(n) is the sum of divisors of n, and Bn is the nth Bernoulli number.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a generalization of an identity due to Carlitz on Bernoulli polynomials. Then we use this generalized formula to derive two symmetric identities which reduce to some known identities on Bernoulli polynomials and Bernoulli numbers, including the Miki identity.  相似文献
