By using a-cut Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 mixed crystal as laser gain medium, a diode-pumped passively Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) laser with a GaAs saturable absorber in a Z-type folded cavity is demonstrated for the first time. The Q-switched mode-locked laser pulses with about 90% modulation depth are obtained as long as the pump power reached the oscillation threshold. The repetition rate of the passively Q-switched pulse envelope ranges from 50 to 186 kHz as the pump power increases from 0.915 to 6.520 W. Under an incident pump power of 6.52 W, the QML pulses with the largest average output power of 694 mW, the shortest pulse width of 200 ns and the highest pulse energy of 3.73 μJ are obtained. The mode-locked pulse width inside the Q-switched envelope is estimated to be about 275 ps. The experimental results show that Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 is a promising mixed crystal for QML laser.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 laser with a GaAs output coupler is demonstrated. By using a mixed crystal Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 as laser medium, the passively Q-switched laser can generate shorter pulse width with higher peak power in comparison with the passively Q-switched Nd:LuVO4 or Nd:YVO4 lasers under the same laser cavity. At the incident pump power 11.9 W, the minimum pulse width of 3.23 ns and the maximum peak power 1.67 kW can be obtained. The average output power and the pulse repetition rate of the laser are also measured. The experimental results show that the mixed crystal is a promising laser medium for shorter Q-switched pulse with higher peak power.  相似文献

By using double-mixed crystal Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 as laser medium, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 laser with acousto-optic (AO) modulator and central semiconductor saturable absorption mirror (SESAM) is realized for the first time. The Q-switched envelope modulation depth is nearly 100%.The average output power and the pulse width of the Q-switched envelope etc. for different AO modulator repetition rates have been measured. The experimental result show that Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 crystal is an excellent laser medium for doubly QML lasers.  相似文献

A laser-diode (LD) pumped Q-switched Nd:Y0.5Lu0.5VO4 crystal laser with an acousto-optic (AO) modulator is presented in this paper. The maximum continuous wave (CW) output power of 5.53 W is achieved at the incident pump power of 14.09 W with the transmission of 10% for the output coupler, resulting in an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 39.2%. For Q-switching operation, the shortest pulse width of 8.3 ns and the highest peak power of 259 kW are generated under the incident pump power of 14.09 W at 1 kHz.  相似文献

We report on a passively Q-switched diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser polarized along the a axis (corresponding to the smallest value of emission cross section at 1064 nm), generating 157-μJ pulses with 6.0-ns time duration (>20 kW peak power) and 3.6 W of average power at 1064 nm with good beam quality (M2<1.4). The selection of the polarization was performed by a novel technique relying on the birefringence of the laser crystal and on the misalignment sensitivity of the resonator. We report a efficient compact red laser at 671 nm generation by intracavity frequency doubling of a continuous wave laser operation of a diode pumped Nd:Lu0.5Y0.5VO4 laser on the 4 F 3/2-4 I 13/2 transition at 1342 nm. An LBO crystal, cut for critical type I phase matching at room temperature is used for second harmonic generation of the laser. At an absorbed pump power of 17.8 W, as high as 2.25 W of continuous wave output power at 671 nm is achieved with 10-mm-long LBO. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is up to 12.6%, and the fluctuation of the red output power was better than 3.6% in the given 30 min.  相似文献

A diode pumped Nd:Y0.5Lu0.5VO4 pulse laser modulated with an acousto-optic (AO) Q-switcher and Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber is first demonstrated in this paper. The laser is shown to generate shorter pulse width than AO Q-switched laser alone, and have a higher peak power and single pulse energy than passively Q-switched laser with only Cr4+:YAG. A laser pulse width of 6.16 ns and a peak power of about 43.83 kW are achieved at the incident pumping power of 14.09 W.  相似文献

The hybrid Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) operation of Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 crystal at 1.34 ??m with V:YAG saturable absorber and acousto-optic (AO) modulator has been realized. The laser characteristics are distinctly improved by the hybrid QML if compared to those with the single V:YAG QML. At the pump power of 5.04 W, the Q-switched pulse energy is enlarged to 5.6 times and the Q-switched pulse width is shortened to 40% by the AO modulator in contrast to those of the single passively QML.  相似文献

Performance comparisons of laser-diode pumped passively Q-switched intracavity-frequency-doubled Nd:Gd0.19Y0.81VO4 and Nd:Gd0.83Y0.17VO4 lasers at 671 nm are demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. KTP crystal is used as the frequency doubling material and V:YAG crystal as the saturable absorber with initial transmission of 89%. The dependences of average output power, pulse width, pulse repetition rate, single-pulse energy and peak power on incident pump power are measured and contrasted. The experimental results show that, Nd:Gd0.83Y0.17VO4 laser has more excellent properties than Nd:Gd0.19Y0.81VO4 laser at 671 nm.  相似文献

A new three-matrix mixed vanadate crystal Nd:Lu0.33Y0.36Gd0.3VO4 (Nd:LuYGdVO4) crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. Room temperature absorption and fluorescence spectra of the Nd:LuYGdVO4 crystals were measured and the spectroscopic parameters were calculated by the Judd-Ofelt theory. The intensity parameters of the Nd:LuYGdVO4 crystal were Ω2 = 9.736 × 10−20 cm2, Ω4 = 4.179 × 10−20 cm2, Ω6 = 8.020 × 10−20 cm2 and the stimulate emission cross section was 5.3 × 10−19 cm2. Diodepumped actively Q-switched and passively Q-switched Nd:LuYGdVO4 and Nd:Lu0.14Y0.86VO4 lasers at 1.06 μm were demonstrated. The results indicate that, for both actively and passively Q-switched lasers, the Nd:LuYGdVO4 lasers can generate shorter pulse width with higher peak power than the Nd:Lu0.14Y0.86VO4 lasers at the same cavity conditions.  相似文献

We report a continuous-wave (CW) coherent green radiation at 532 nm by intracavity frequency doubling generation of 1064 nm Nd:Gd0.18Y0.82VO4 laser. With incident pump power of 18.2 W, output power of 1.08 W at 532 nm has been obtained using a 5 mm-long KTP crystal. The optical conversion efficiency was up to 5.9%. At the output power level of 1.08 W, the output stability is better than 5%. The beam quality M2 values were equal to 1.26 and 1.12 in X and Y directions, respectively.  相似文献

I report the first demonstration of the generation of efficient sub-nanosecond self-stimulated Raman pulses by a diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/Cr4+:YAG laser. The conversion efficiency for the average power is 7% from pump diode input to self-Raman output and the slope efficiency is up to 14%. At an incident pump power of 2.0 W, the pulse duration, pulse energy, and peak power for the Stokes wavelength of 1175.6 nm were found to be 750 ps, 6.3 J, and 8.4 kW, respectively, with a pulse-repetition rate of 22 kHz. A passively Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:LuVO4 laser with V:YAG at 1.34 μm was successfully demonstrated. Comparisons between c-cut and a-cut Nd:LuVO4 lasers were experimentally made. The maximum average output power of 170 mW, the highest Q-switched pulse energy of 4.5 μJ were obtained in c-cut Nd:LuVO4 laser. The duration of mode-locked pulse was estimated to be less than 540 ps with repetition rate of 110 MHz.  相似文献

By using both an acoustooptical (AO) modulator and a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber in the cavity, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 laser, which can generate short pulses with high peak powers and symmetric temporal profiles, has been demonstrated. A peak power of 3.05 kW with a corresponding pulse width of 16 ns has been achieved at an incident pump power of 7.7 W. A reasonable analysis about the experimental results has been given by considering the ground-state absorption and excited-state absorption of a Cr4+:YAG crystal.  相似文献

Simultaneous Q-switching and mode locking in a laser-diode end-pumped intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:YVO4/KTP green laser using a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber with 81% initial transmission is experimentally demonstrated. At an incident pump power of 6 W, 300 mW of average green power was obtained, which is around four times higher than the cw green power obtained without the Cr4+:YAG crystal. The repetition rate of the mode-locked green pulses was 400 MHz and the individual mode-locked pulse width was measured to be 500 ps. The repetition rate of the Q-sw itched envelope of the mode-locked pulses was 15 kHz at 6 W of incident pump power. The energy of the mode-locked pulse at the peak of the Q-sw itched envelope was estimated to be 1 J and the peak power was estimated to be 2.4 kW. The measured width and the total energy of the Q-sw itched envelope of the mode-locked pulses was 47 ns and 21 J, respectively, at the maximum incident pump power. An analysis of the system by incorporating a nonlinear loss term due to the intracavity second-harmonic generation to the general recurrence relation for the mode-locked pulses under the Q-sw itched envelope at the fundamental wavelength has been presented. Using a hyperbolic secant square function to model the mode-locked pulse, the temporal shape of a single Q-sw itched pulse at the second-harmonic wavelength has been reconstructed. The theoretical calculations of the pulse parameters like pulse energy, peak power, pulse width and pulse-symmetry factor have shown fairly good agreement with the experimental results. Efficient continuous-wave (CW) laser operation on the 4 F 3/24 I 9/2 transition of Nd:Y0.53Gd0.47VO4, a mixed vanadate crystal, is demonstrated at room temperature employing a compact plano-concave resonator, generating a polarized output power of 0.39 W at 913.2 nm with 2.85 W of pump power absorbed, the optical-to-optical and slope efficiencies being 14 and 25%, respectively.  相似文献

A high-repetition-rate eye-safe optical parametric oscillator (OPO), using a non-critically phase-matched KTP crystal intracavity pumped by an acousto-optically (AO) Q-switchedNd:YVO4 laser, is experimentally demonstrated. It is found that the average OPO signal power at 1573 nm can be efficiently increased by increasing the pulse repetition rate. Moreover, the intracavity OPO process effectively shortens the pulse width so that it is in the range 5∼8 ns for pulse repetition rates of 10 to 80 kHz. As a result of the relatively short pulse, the peak power at 1573 nm is higher than 2 kW at a pulse repetition rate of 80 kHz. We report an efficient laser emission on the 1064 nm 4 F 3/2 to 4 I 11/2 transition in mixed vanadate crystal Nd:Y0.36Gd0.64VO4 under the pump with diode laser at 880 nm. Continuous wave (CW) 10.7 W output power at 1064 nm is obtained under 17.8 W of incident pump power; the slope efficiency with respect to the incident pump power was 71.2%. Moreover, intracavity frequency doubling with LiB3O5 (LBO) nonlinear crystal yielded 4.6 W of green light at 532 nm. An optical-to-optical efficiency with respect to the incident pump power was 25.8%.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched mode-locked (QML) intracavity frequency doubled c-cut Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser with a LT-GaAs saturable absorber is presented. More than 90% modulation depth for the mode-locked green pulses has been achieved. Using the hyperbolic secant function methods, a developed rate equation model for Q-switched and mode-locked lasers considering the Gaussian spatial distribution of the intracavity photon intensity, the influences of continuous pump rate, the upper state lifetime of the active medium, and the excited-state lifetime of the saturable absorber, was proposed. With this developed model, the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results and the width of the mode-locked green pulse was estimated to be about 380 ps.  相似文献

A diode-end-pumped simultaneously Q-switched and mode-locked intracavity frequency doubled Nd:GdVO4/LBO red laser with an acousto-optic Q-switch was realized. The maximum red laser output power of 250 mW was obtained at the incident pump power of 8.3 W and the repetition rate of 10 kHz. At 5 kHz, the maximum mode-locking modulation depth of about 80% was achieved with the Q-switched pulse width of 440 ns. The red mode-locked pulse inside the Q-switched pulse had a repetition rate of 115 MHz, its average pulse width was estimated to be about 350 ps.  相似文献
