In this paper, the scattering of harmonic antiplane shear waves by two finite cracks is studied using the non-local theory. The Fourier transform is applied and a mixed boundary value problem is formulated. Then a set of triple integral equations is solved using a new method, namely Schmidt's method. This method is more exact and more reasonable than Eringen's for solving this kind of problem. The result of the stress near the crack tip was obtained. Contrary to the classical elasticity solution, it is found that no stress singularity is present at the crack tip, which can explain the problem of macroscopic and microscopic mechanics.  相似文献

Existing studies on the fracture of cracked piezoelectric materials have been limited mostly to the electrically impermeable and permeable crack models, which represent the limiting cases of the physical boundary condition along the crack surfaces. This paper presents a study on the electromechanical behaviour of interacting dielectric cracks in piezoelectric materials. The cracks are filled with dielectric media and, as the result, the electric boundary condition along the crack surfaces is governed by the opening displacement of the cracks. The formulation of this nonlinear problem is based on simulating the cracks using distributed dislocations and solving the resulting nonlinear singular integral equations. Multiple deformation modes are observed. A solution technique is developed to determine the desired deformation mode of the interacting cracks. Numerical results are given to show the effect of the interaction between parallel cracks. Attention is paid to the transition between permeable and impermeable models with increasing crack opening.  相似文献

The paper examines the in-plane loading of a disc shaped rigid disc inclusion which is embedded in bonded contact with the plane surfaces of a penny-shaped crack. The mixed boundary value problem governing the elastostatic problem is reduced to the solution of a system of coupled integral equations, which are solved numerically to determine results of engineering interest. These results include the in-plane stiffness of the disc inclusion and the crack opening mode stress intensity factor at the boundary of the penny-shaped crack.  相似文献

An infinite elastic plane containing two straight cracks of arbitrary length and location is analyzed within the framework of elastostatics. The mathematical formulation is based on the stress solution for a single crack and leads to a system of singular integral equations that govern the crack surface displacement densities. The solution series in terms of the reciprocal of the crack centre distance is not suitable for cracks that are spaced too closely. It is shown by way of examples that the method of asymptotic solution is convenient for developing approximation expressions of the stress and displacement field with certain characteristics. The formulas for the stress intensity factors and crack opening are given for the case of a constant tensile load. Graphical results are given for the variations of the stress intensity factors with parameters depending on the relative positions of the cracks.  相似文献

The mode I extension of a half plane crack in a transversely isotropic solid under 3-D loading is analyzed. Firstly, the fundamental problem that the crack is subjected to a pair of unit point loads on its faces is considered. Transform methods are used to reduce the boundary value problem to a single integral equation that can be solved by the Wiener–Hopf technique. The Cagniard–de Hoop method is employed to invert the transforms. An exact expression is derived for the mode I stress intensity factor as a function of time and position along the crack edge. Based on the fundamental solution, the stress intensity factor history due to general loading is then obtained. Some features of the solutions are discussed through numerical results.  相似文献

Plane problem for an infinite space composed of two different piezoelectric or piezoelectric/dielectric semi-infinite spaces with a periodic set of limited electrically permeable interface cracks is considered. Uniformly distributed electromechanical loading is applied at infinity. The frictionless contact zones at the crack tips are taken into account. The problem is reduced to the combined Dirichlet–Riemann boundary value problem by means of the electromechanical factors presentation via sectionally analytic functions, assuming that the electric flux is uniformly distributed inside the cracks. An exact solution of the problem is proposed. It permits to find in a closed form all necessary electromechanical characteristics at the interface and to formulate the equation for the determination of the electric flux value. Analysis of this equation confirms the correctness of the assumption concerning the uniform distribution of the electric flux in the crack region.Formulae for stresses, electric displacement vector, elastic displacements and electric potential jump at the interface as well as the intensity factors at the crack tips are given. Equation for the contact zone length determination is presented. Calculations for certain material combinations are carried out. The influence of electric permeability of cracks on electromechanical fields and the fracture mechanical parameters is analyzed.

Three-dimensional analysis of a half plane crack in a transversely isotropic solid is performed. Dynamic analysis of two collinear electro-magnetically dielectric cracks in a piezoelectromagnetic material is made under in-plane magneto-electro-mechanical impacts. Generalized semi-permeable crack-face boundary conditions are proposed to simulate realistic opening cracks with dielectric. Ideal boundary conditions of a combination of electrically permeable or impermeable and magnetically permeable or impermeable assumptions are several limiting cases of the semi-permeable dielectric crack. Utilizing the Laplace and Fourier transforms, the mixed initial-boundary-value problem is reduced to solving singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel. Dynamic intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, magnetic induction and crack opening displacement (COD) near the inner and outer crack tips are determined in the Laplace transform domain. Numerical results for a special magnetoelectroelastic solid are calculated to show the influences of the dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability inside the cracks on the crack-face electric displacement and magnetic induction. By means of a numerical inversion of the Laplace transform, the variations of the normalized intensity factors of stress and COD are discussed against applied magnetoelectric impact loadings and the geometry of the cracks for fully impermeable, vacuum, fully permeable cracks and shown in graphics.  相似文献

Integral relations between three-dimensional dynamic displacements (stresses) in an infinite elastic body with arbitrarily located plane cracks and discontinuities in the displacements of the opposite crack faces are presented. The influence of opening cracks on each other is considered in the problem on crack faces loaded by pulse forces. This problem is reduced to a system of boundary integral equations of the wave-potential type in a time domain. The dynamic mode I stress intensity factors are determined for two coplanar elliptic cracks under forces in the form of the Heaviside function  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of two equal coplanar cracks with allowance for the crack faces contact interaction was investigated. The problem of the cracks located in homogeneous, isotropic, and linearly elastic solid subjected to normally incident tension–compression wave is solved by the boundary integral equations method. The influence of the distance between two cracks on the stress intensity factors (opening mode and transverse shear mode) is studied for a range of wave numbers. The results are compared with those obtained neglecting cracks’ closure.  相似文献

A strip electric saturation and mechanical yielding model solution is proposed for a piezoelectric plate cut along two equal collinear semi-permeable mode-I cracks with electrical polarization reaching a saturation limit and normal stress reaching a yield stress along a line segment in front of the cracks. By using Stroh formalism and complex variable technique, we derived the analytical solution for the field quantities. Three different situations are investigated when developed electrical saturation zone is bigger/smaller or equal to the developed mechanical yield zone. Numerical results show that the effect of different electric boundary conditions on the crack opening displacement and crack opening potential drop is significant and should not be ignored. The influence of electric load displacement on the energy release rate is also investigated for PZT-4, PZT-5H and BaTiO3 ceramics, and it may assists for the correct choosing of ceramic for specific job.  相似文献

Summary Dynamic stresses around three coplanar cracks in an infinite elastic medium are determined in the paper. Two of the cracks are equal, rectangular and symmetrically situated on either side of the centrally located rectangular crack. Time-harmonic normal traction acts on each surface of the three cracks. To solve the problem, two kind of solutions are superposed: one is a solution for a rectangular crack in an infinite elastic medium, and the other one is that for two rectangular cracks in an infinite elastic medium. The unknown coefficients in the combined solution are determined by applying the boundary conditions at the surfaces of the cracks. Finally, stress intensity factors are calculated numerically for several crack configurations. Received 14 July 1998; accepted for publication 2 December 1998  相似文献

In this study, multiple interacting cracks in an infinite plate are analyzed to determine the overall stress field as well as stress intensity factors for crack tips and singular wedges at crack kinks. The problem is formulated using integral equations expressed in terms of unknown edge dislocation distributions along crack lines. These distributions derive from an accurate representation of the crack opening displacements using power series basis terms obtained through wedge eigenvalue analysis, which leads to both polynomial and non-polynomial power series. The process is to choose terms of the series and their exponents such that the tractions on the crack faces are virtually zero compared to the far field loading. Applying the method leads to a set of linear algebraic equations to solve for the unknown weighting coefficients for the power series basis terms. Since no numerical integration is required unlike in other methods, in most cases, solution takes just a few seconds on a PC. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are first demonstrated with a simple example of three aligned cracks with small ligaments between their tips under tensile loading. The results are compared to exact results as well as to those of other numerical methods, including recent FIE, FEM and BEM approaches said to have fast computation times. Thereafter, some new and challenging crack interaction problems including branched Y-cracks, two kinked V-cracks are solved. From a parametric study of the various crack configurations, stress intensity factors are graphed and tabulated to demonstrate subtleties in the magnitudes of the crack interactions.  相似文献

The assumptions of impermeable and permeable cracks give rise to significant errors in determining electro-elastic behavior of a cracked piezoelectric material. The former simply imposes that the permittivity or electric displacement of the crack interior vanishes, and the latter neglects also the effects of the dielectric of an opening crack interior. Considering the presence of the dielectric of an opening crack interior and the permeability of the crack surfaces for electric field, this paper analyzes electro-elastic behavior induced by a penny-shaped dielectric crack in a piezoelectric ceramic layer. In the cases of prescribed displacement or prescribed stress at the layer surfaces, the Hankel transform technique is employed to reduce the problem to Fredholm integral equations with a parameter dependent nonlinearly on the unknown functions. For an infinite piezoelectric space, a closed-form solution can be derived explicitly, while for a piezoelectric layer, an iterative technique is suggested to solve the resulting nonlinear equations. Field intensity factors are obtained in terms of the solution of the equations. Numerical results of the crack opening displacement intensity factors are presented for a cracked PZT-5H layer and the effect of applied electric field on crack growth are examined for both cases. The results indicate that the fracture toughness of a piezoelectric ceramic is affected by the direction of applied electric fields, dependent on the elastic boundary conditions.  相似文献

The axisymmetric problem of stress concentration near a conical crack in an infinite elastic space with a rotation center is addressed. The problem is reduced to an integro-differential equation. Its exact solution is obtained. An expression for the stress intensity factor in crack neighborhood is derived and numerically analyzed for different positions of the rotation center and the crack opening angles __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika, Vol. 43, No. 2, pp. 99–107, February 2007. An interface crack in a bimaterial piezoelectric space under the action of antiplane mechanical and in-plane electric loadings is analyzed. One zone of the crack faces is electrically conductive while the other part is electrically permeable. All electro-mechanical values are presented using sectionally-analytic vector-functions and a combined Dirichlet-Riemann boundary value problem is formulated. An exact analytical solution of this problem is obtained. Simple analytical expressions for the shear stress, electric field and also for mechanical displacement jump of the crack faces are derived. These values are also presented graphically along the corresponding parts of the material interface. Singular points of the shear stress, electric field and electric displacement jump are found. Their intensity factors are determined as well. Intensity factors variations with respect to the external electric field and different ratios between the electrically conductive and electrically permeable crack face zones are also demonstrated.  相似文献
