This article is concerned with ultradistribution spaces in the sense of Komatsu. For these spaces several tensor product theorems, especially Schwartz's kernels theorem for ultradistributions, are proved. Criteria which ensure that a nuclear locally convex space has an absolute basis are given and used to represent the spaces of periodic ultradifferential functions as Köthe sequence spaces. These results permit to state conditions on a sequence {M_p} which are equivalent to nuclearity, s-nuclearity or-as will be shown in part II-even -nuclearity of the corresponding ultradistribution spaces. Under some natural conditions the Beurling ultradistribution spaces defined by Komatsu are shown to constitute a proper subclass of those introduced by Beurling.

Summary A mathematical theory of milling processes is developed by deriving and solving a partial integro-differential equation which describes the time-dependent particle size distribution of the milling charge. This basic equation contains a characteristic function of both the mill and the material milled, which is conveniently determined from measurements conducted in accordance with an approximation derived for this purpose from the general theory. This approximation, which can as well be used independently is equally convenient for obtaining experimental evidence of the validity of the general theory. It has been established in a previous paper that this approximation is in agreement with results obtained by experiments.Several approximate solutions of the basic equation as well as the rigorous one are worked out and an analysis of the semi-empirical Rosin-Rammler formula is given from the point of view of the present theory.
