Shielding effect and emission criterion of a screw dislocation near an interfacial blunt crack 下载免费PDF全文
Shielding effect and emission criterion of a screw dislocation near
an interfacial blunt crack are dealt with in this paper. Utilizing
the conformal mapping technique, the closed-form solutions are
derived for complex potentials and stress fields due to a screw
dislocation located near the interfacial blunt crack. The stress
intensity factor on the crack tips and the critical stress intensity
factor for dislocation emission are also calculated. The influence
of the orientation of the dislocation and the morphology of the
blunt crack as well as the material elastic dissimilarity on the
shielding effect and the emission criterion is discussed in detail.
The results show that positive screw dislocations can reduce the
stress intensity factor of the interfacial blunt crack tip
(shielding effect). The shielding effect increases with the increase
of the shear modulus of the lower half-plane, but it decreases with
the increase of the dislocation azimuth angle. The critical loads at
infinity for dislocation emission increases with the increase of
emission angle and curvature radius of blunt crack tip, and the most
probable angle for screw dislocation emission is zero. The present
solutions contain previous results as special cases. 相似文献

Based on the fundamental equations of piezoelasticity of quasicrystal material,we investigated the interaction between a screw dislocation and a wedge-shaped crack in the piezoelectricity of one-dimensional hexagonal quasicrystals.Explicit analytical solutions are obtained for stress and electric displacement intensity factors of the crack,as well as the force on dislocation. The derivation is based on the conformal mapping method and the perturbation technique. The influences of the wedge angle and dislocation location on the image force are also discussed. The results obtained in this paper can be fully reduced to some special cases already available or deriving new ones. 相似文献

Screw dislocations interacting with two asymmetrical interfacial cracks emanating from an elliptical hole 下载免费PDF全文
The interaction between screw dislocations and two asymmetrical interfacial cracks emanating from an elliptic hole under loads at infinity is studied. The closed-form solution is derived for complex potentials. The stress intensity factor and the critical applied stress for the dislocation emission are also calculated. In the limiting cases, well-known results can be obtained from the present solutions. Moreover, new exact solutions for a screw dislocation interacting with some complicated cracks are derived. The results show that the shielding effect increases with the increase in the length of the other cracks and the minor semi axis, but decreases with the increase of dislocation azimuth. The repulsion acting on the dislocation from the other phase and the other crack extend in the horizontal direction, which makes the dislocation emission at the crack tip take place more easily, but the minor semi axis of the elliptical hole extending in the vertical direction makes it more difficult. 相似文献

Shielding effect and emission criterion of a screw dislocation near an interracial crisscross crack are dealt with in this paper. The influence of the orientation of the dislocation and the morphology of the crisscross crack as well as the material elastic dissimilarity on the shielding effect and the emission criterion is discussed in detail. The shielding effect increases with the increase of the shear modulus of the lower half-plane, but it decreases with the increase of the dislocation azimuth angle and the distance between the dislocation and the crack tip. Elastic behaviour of an edge dislocation near a sharp crack emanating from a semi-elliptical blunt crack 下载免费PDF全文
The interaction between an edge dislocation and a crack
emanating from a semi-elliptic hole is dealt with. Utilizing the
complex variable method, closed form solutions are derived for
complex potentials and stress fields. The stress intensity factor at
the tip of the crack and the image force acting on the edge
dislocation are also calculated. The influence of the morphology of
the blunt crack and the position of the edge dislocation on the
shielding effect to the crack and the image force is examined in
detail. The results indicate that the shielding or anti-shielding
effect to the stress intensity factor increases acutely when the
dislocation approaches the tip of the crack. The effect of the
morphology of the blunt crack on the stress intensity factor of the
crack and the image force is very significant. 相似文献

On the interaction between dislocations and cracks in one-dimensional hexagonal quasi-crystals 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1 下载免费PDF全文
The solution of elasticity problems involving the interaction between dislocations and cracks plays a fundamental role in many practical and theoretical applications. Although elasticity problems involving dislocation or cracks in quasi-crystals have been investigated in many papers, the analysis is limited to a single defect. This paper investigates the interaction of defects in one-dimensional hexagonal quasi-crystals using the complex variable function method. The interaction force between two parallel dislocations is presented and the analytic solutions of elastic fields of interaction between a dislocation and a crack are obtained. A version of the well-known Peach-Koehler formula in one-dimensional hexagonal quasi-crystals is given. 相似文献

In this study, we calculate the interaction energy of intrinsic point defects vacancies and interstitials) with screw dislocations in body-centered cubic iron. First (we calculate the dipole tensor of a defect in the bulk crystal using molecular statics. Using a formulation based on linear elasticity theory, we calculate the interaction energy of the defect and the dislocation using both isotropic and anisotropic strain fields. Second, we perform atomistic calculations using molecular statics methods to directly calculate the interaction energy. Results from these two methods are compared. We verify that continuum methods alone are unable to correctly predict the interactions of defects and dislocations near the core. Although anisotropic theory agrees qualitatively with atomistics far from the core, it cannot predict which dumbbell orientations are stable and any continuum calculations must be used with caution. Spontaneous absorption by the core of both vacancies and dumbbells is seen. This paper demonstrates and discusses the differences between continuum and atomistic calculations of interaction energy between a dislocation core and a point defect. 相似文献

An annular interfacial crack between dissimilar piezoelectric layers subjected to electroelastic loadings was investigated under an electrically impermeable boundary condition on the crack surface by using the Hankel transform technique and the Cauchy singular integral equation method. The stress intensity factors and energy release rates were determined. Numerical results reveal the effects of crack configuration, electric loads and material parameters on crack propagation and growth. The results should be useful for the design of piezoelectric composite structures and devices of high performance. 相似文献

The model of a screw dislocation near a semi-infinite wedge crack tip inside a nano-circular inclusion is proposed to investigate the shielding effect of nano inclusions acting on cracks. Utilizing the complex function method, the closed-form solutions of the stress fields in the matrix and the inclusion region are derived. The stress intensity factor, the image force, as well as the critical loads for dislocation emission are discussed in detail. The results show that the nano inclusion not only enhances the shielding effect exerted by the dislocation, but also provides a shielding effect itself. Moreover, dislocations may be trapped in the nano inclusion even if the matrix is softer than the inclusion. This helps the dislocation shield crack, and reduces the dislocation density within the matrix. 相似文献

The interaction of two collinear cracks is obtained for a type-II superconducting under electromagnetic force. Fracture analysis is performed by means of finite element method and the magnetic behavior of superconductor is described by the critical-state Bean model. The stress intensity factors at the crack tips can be obtained and discussed for decreasing field after zero-field cooling. It is revealed that the stress intensity factor decreases as applied field increases. The crack-tip stress intensity factors decrease when the distance between the two collinear cracks increases and the superconductors with smaller crack has more remarkable shielding effect than those with larger cracks. 相似文献

A high number-density of nanometer-sized stacking fault tetrahedra are commonly found during irradiation of low stacking fault energy metals. The stacking fault tetrahedra act as obstacles to dislocation motion leading to increased yield strength and decreased ductility. Thus, an improved understanding of the interaction between gliding dislocations and stacking fault tetrahedra are critical to reliably predict the mechanical properties of irradiated materials. Many studies have investigated the interaction of a screw or edge dislocation with a stacking fault tetrahedron (SFT). However, atomistic studies of a mixed dislocation interaction with an SFT are not available, even though mixed dislocations are the most common. In this paper, molecular dynamics simulation results of the interaction between a mixed dislocation and an SFT in face-centered cubic copper are presented. The interaction results in shearing, partial absorption, destabilization or simple bypass of the SFT, depending on the interaction geometry. However, the SFT was not completely annihilated, absorbed or collapsed during a single interaction with a mixed dislocation. These observations, combined with simulation results of edge or screw dislocations, suggest that defect-free channel formation in irradiated copper is not likely by a single dislocation sweeping or destruction process, but rather by a complex mix of multiple shearing, partial absorption and defect cluster transportation that ultimately reduces the size of stacking fault tetrahedra within a localized region. 相似文献

Elastic–plastic stress analysis has been carried out for the plastic zone size and crack tip opening displacement of a sub-interface crack with small scale yielding. In our study, the shape of plastic zone is assumed as a long, slim strip at both crack tips. In the plastic zone, both normal stress and shear stress exist and are considered due to the bi-material interface. The values of the plastic zone size, normal stress and shear stress are determined by satisfying the conditions where both Modes I and II stress intensity factors vanish and Von Mises yield criterion is met. In the present paper, the sub-interface crack is simulated by continuously distributed dislocations which will result in singular integral equations. Those singular integral equations can be solved by reducing them to a set of linear equations. The values of the plastic zone size and crack tip opening displacement are obtained through an iterative procedure. Finally, the effect of normalized loading, normalized crack depth (distance to the interface) and Dundurs’ parameters on the normalized plastic zone size and the normalized crack tip opening displacement is discussed. 相似文献

An analytical investigation on the plastic zone size of a crack near a coated circular inclusion under three different loading conditions of uniaxial tension, uniform tension and pure shear was carried out. Both the crack and coated circular inclusion are embedded in an infinite matrix, with the crack oriented along the radial direction of the inclusion. In the solution procedure, the crack is simulated as a continuous distribution of edge dislocations. With the Dugdale model of small-scale yielding [J. Mech. Phys. Solids 8 (1960) p. 100], two thin strips of yielded plastic zones are introduced at both crack tips. Using the solution for a coated circular inclusion interacting with a single dislocation as the Green's function, the physical problem is formulated into a set of singular integral equations. Using the method of Erdogan and Gupta [Q. J. Appl. Math. 29 (1972) p. 525] and iterative numerical procedures, the singular integral equations are solved numerically for the plastic zone sizes and crack tip opening displacement. 相似文献

The stress field and energy of screw dislocation in smectic A liquid crystals and the mistakes of the classical solution 下载免费PDF全文
The mistakes in the classical solution of a screw dislocation in smectic A liquid crystals are pointed out. A serious problem with the well-known theory is pointed, which may be named de Gennes-Kleman-Pershan paradox and has existed for many decades in the scientific community of liquid crystal study. The correct solution is given in this paper by a simplest, elementary, and straight forward method. In connection with this, the stress field and energy of dislocation are discussed in detail. The present article provides the correct stress field and dislocation energy as well. 相似文献

Interaction between infinitely many dislocations and a semi-infinite crack in one-dimensional hexagonal quasicrystal 下载免费PDF全文
By means of analytic function theory, the problems of interaction between infinitely many parallel dislocations and a semi-infinite crack in one-dimensional hexagonal quasicrystal are studied. The analytic solutions of stress fields of the interaction between infinitely many parallel dislocations and a semi-infinite crack in one-dimensional hexagonal quasicrystal are obtained. They indicate that the stress concentration occurs at the dislocation source and the tip of the crack, and the value of the stress increases with the number of the dislocations increasing. These results are the development of interaction among the finitely many defects of quasicrystals, which possesses an important reference value for studying the interaction problems of infinitely many defects in fracture mechanics of quasicrystal. 相似文献

Roughly speaking, every commercial airliner is struck by lightning once per year. Thus, the lightning strike to aircraft is not uncommon and it poses an appreciable threat to flight safety. The understanding of the lightning strike to aircraft has been greatly enhanced during the last years thanks to a comprehensive analysis of data collected from instrumented aircraft that have been flown into thunderstorm regions. In this article, we will start with the phenomenology of the lightning strike to aircraft and continue with going deeper into the underlying physics of selected processes during the strike.
