Ab initio calculations using plane wave pseudopotential method within density funtional theory are applied to investigate mechanical and electronic properties of Al-terminated Me(1 1 1)/Al2O3(0 0 0 1) (Me = Al, Ag, Cu, Nb) interfaces. Stress–displacement relationships of separation perpendicular to the interface are calculated. It is shown that obtained results such as work of separation and tensile strength can be understood from electronic structure. 相似文献

AbstractMolecular dynamics simulations have been performed to understand the size-dependent tensile deformation behaviour of 〈1 0 0〉 Cu nanowires at 10 K. The influence of nanowire size has been examined by varying square cross-section width (d) from 0.723 to 43.38 nm using constant length of 21.69 nm. The results indicated that the yielding in all the nanowires occurs through nucleation of partial dislocations. Following yielding, the plastic deformation in small size nanowires occurs mainly by slip of partial dislocations at all strains, while in large size nanowires, slip of extended dislocations has been observed at high strains in addition to slip of partial dislocations. Further, the variations in dislocation density indicated that the nanowires with d > 3.615 nm exhibit dislocation exhaustion at small strains followed by dislocation starvation at high strains. On the other hand, small size nanowires with d < 3.615 nm displayed mainly dislocation starvation at all strains. The average length of dislocations has been found to be same and nearly constant in all the nanowires. Both the Young’s modulus and yield strength exhibited a rapid decrease at small size nanowires followed by gradual decrease to saturation at larger size. The observed linear increase in ductility with size has been correlated with the pre- and post-necking deformation. Finally, dislocation–dislocation interactions leading to the formation of various dislocation locks, the dislocation–stacking fault interactions resulting in the annihilation of stacking faults and the size dependence of dislocation–surface interactions have been discussed. 相似文献

An elastic interaction model is presented to quantify low temperature plasticity of SrTiO3 via glide of dissociated 〈1 1 0〉{1 1 0} screw dislocations. Because 〈1 1 0〉 dislocations are dissociated, their glide, controlled by the kink-pair mechanism at T < 1050 K, involves the formation of kink-pairs on partial dislocations, either simultaneously or sequentially. Our model yields results in good quantitative agreement with the observed non-monotonic mechanical behaviour of SrTiO3. This agreement allows to explain the experimental results in terms of a (progressive) change in 〈1 1 0〉{1 1 0} glide mechanism, from simultaneous nucleation of two kink-pairs along both partials at low stress, towards nucleation of single kink-pairs on individual partials if resolved shear stress exceeds a critical value of 95 MPa. High resolved shear stress allows thus for the activation of extra nucleation mechanisms on dissociated dislocations impossible to occur under the sole action of thermal activation. We suggest that stress condition in conjunction with core dissociation is key to the origin of non-monotonic plastic behaviour of SrTiO3 at low temperatures. 相似文献

This paper investigates infinite-time spreading and finite-time blow-up for the Keller-Segel system. For 0 < m ≤ 2 ? 2 / d, the L p space for both dynamic and steady solutions are detected with ${p:=\frac{d(2-m)}{2} }$ p : = d ( 2 - m ) 2 . Firstly, the global existence of the weak solution is proved for small initial data in L p . Moreover, when m > 1 ? 2 / d, the weak solution preserves mass and satisfies the hyper-contractive estimates in L q for any p < q < ∞. Furthermore, for slow diffusion 1 < m ≤ 2 ? 2/d, this weak solution is also a weak entropy solution which blows up at finite time provided by the initial negative free energy. For m > 2 ? 2/d, the hyper-contractive estimates are also obtained. Finally, we focus on the L p norm of the steady solutions, it is shown that the energy critical exponent m = 2d/(d + 2) is the critical exponent separating finite L p norm and infinite L p norm for the steady state solutions. 相似文献

after propagating in atmospheric turbulence, the collimated J
0-Bessel Gaussian and the I
0-Bessel Gaussian beams have smaller rms beam wander than that of the Gaussian beam, regardless of the choice of Bessel width
parameter. However, the extent of such an advantage depends on the chosen width parameter, Gaussian source size, propagation
distance and the wavelength. Focusing at finite distances of the considered beams causes the rms beam wander to decrease sharply

The CLAS collaboration and the CBELSA/TAPS collaboration reported the differential cross section data for K*0 photoproduction, and found that the t-channel K exchange dominates the production amplitudes at small scattering angles. The measurement of forward-angle parity spin asymmetry for the γ p → K*0Σ+ reaction, where the theoretical calculations show an unambiguous signal, would establish the role of the κ(800). The γ p → K*0Σ+ reaction, where the Σ+ was identified through missing mass, on a liquid hydrogen target was measured at the LEPS detector in the energy from threshold to 3.0 GeV by using a linearly polarized photon beam at SPring-8. Decay angular distributions in the rest frame of the K + π ? system were fit to extract spin-density matrix elements of the K*0 decay. 相似文献

Recent data from heavy ion collisions at RHIC show strong near-side correlations extending over several units of rapidity.
This ridge-like correlation exhibits an abrupt onset with collision centrality. In this talk, I argue that the centrality
and beam-energy dependence of these near-angle correlations could provide access to information about the Quark Gluon Plasma
phase boundary and the Equation of State of nuclear matter. A beam-energy-scan at RHIC will better reveal the true source

The aim of this paper is to introduce a new technique for the calculation of observables, in particular multiplicity distributions,
in various statistical ensembles at finite volume. The method is based on Fourier analysis of the grand canonical partition
function. A Taylor expansion of the generating function is used to separate contributions to the partition function in their
power in volume. We employ Laplace’s asymptotic expansion to show that any equilibrium distribution of multiplicity, charge,
energy, etc. tends to a multivariate normal distribution in the thermodynamic limit. A Gram–Charlier expansion additionally
allows for the calculation of finite volume corrections. Analytical formulas are presented for the inclusion of resonance

This paper focuses on the study of existence and uniqueness of distributional and classical solutions to the Cauchy Boltzmann problem for the soft potential case assuming S n?1 integrability of the angular part of the collision kernel (Grad cut-off assumption). For this purpose we revisit the Kaniel–Shinbrot iteration technique to present an elementary proof of existence and uniqueness results that includes the large data near local Maxwellian regime with possibly infinite initial mass. We study the propagation of regularity using a recent estimate for the positive collision operator given in (Alonso et al. in Convolution inequalities for the Boltzmann collision operator. arXiv:0902.0507 [math.AP]) , by E. Carneiro and the authors, that allows us to show such propagation without additional conditions on the collision kernel. The energy frontier is currently at the Fermilab Tevatron accelerator, which collides protons and antiprotons at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The luminosity delivered to the CDF and DØ experiments has now surpassed the 4 fb?1. This paper reviews the most recent direct searches for Higgs bosons and beyond-the-standard-model (BSM) physics at the Tevatron. The results reported correspond to an integrated luminosity of up to 2.5 fb?1 of Run II data collected by the two Collaborations. Searches covered include the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (including sensitivity projections), the neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), charged Higgs bosons and extended Higgs models, supersymmetric decays that conserve or violate R-parity, gauge-mediated supersymmetric breaking models, long-lived particles, leptoquarks, compositeness, extra gauge bosons, extra dimensions, and finally signature-based searches. Given the excellent performance of the collider and the continued productivity of the experiments, the Tevatron physics potential looks promising for discovery with the coming larger data sets. In particular, evidence for the SM Higgs boson could be obtained if its mass is light or near 160 GeV. The observed (expected) upper limits are currently a factor of 3.7 (3.3) higher than the expected SM Higgs boson cross section at m H =115 GeV and 1.1 (1.6) at m H =160 GeV at 95% C.L. 相似文献

In holographic QCD the effects of gluonic condensate can be encoded in a suitable deformation of the 5D metric. We develop two different methods for the evaluation of first order perturbative corrections to masses and decay constants of vector resonances in 5D Hard-Wall models of QCD due to small deformations of the metric. They are extracted either from a novel compact form for the first order correction to the vector two-point function, or from perturbation theory for vector bound-state eigenfunctions: the equivalence of the two methods is shown. Our procedures are then applied to flat and to AdS 5D Hard-Wall models; we complement results of existing literature evaluating the corrections to vector decay constant and to two-pion–one-vector couplings: this is particularly relevant to satisfy the sum rules. We concentrate our attention on the effects for the Gasser–Leutwyler coefficients; we show that as in the Chiral Quark model, the addition of the gluonic condensate improves the consistency, the understanding and the agreement with phenomenology of the holographic model. 相似文献

Magnetic monopoles have attracted the attention of physicists since the founding of the electromagnetic theory. Their search
has been a constant endeavor which was intensified when Dirac established the relation between the existence of monopoles
and charge quantization. However, these searches have been unsuccessful. We have recently proposed that monopolium, a monopole–antimonopole
bound state, so strongly bound that it has a relatively small mass, could be easier to find and become an indirect but clear

Hawking radiation from a black hole can be viewed as quantum tunneling of particles through the event horizon. Using this approach we provide a general framework for studying corrections to the entropy of black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. Applying the properties of exact differentials for three variables to the first law thermodynamics, we study charged rotating black holes and explicitly work out the corrections to entropy and horizon area for the Kerr–Newman and charged rotating BTZ black holes. It is shown that the results for other geometries like the Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and anti-de Sitter–Schwarzschild spacetimes follow easily. 相似文献
